@Gheist If youre still stuck, one of the other npc's you get pokemon for helps you out. She's located on Apophyll and really enjoys music.

The rest is in the spoiler if you need it

Felicia wants an autograph from Mcsleezy or whatever his name is who is located in Spinel Town. Bring the autograph back to Felicia, bring the headphones to Jasper girl. Then return to the thug in the ally who wanted the jigglypuff. He'll tell you he kidnapped the 5th npc who wants a vanillite and the location of where you can find him. Bring the kidnapped kid home, give him the vanillite, despite what he actually asks for, then return to Arclight to turn in the quest.

Thanks, I got the mega ring now.

@Gheist There was an npc in the Jasper Ward who mentioned she could really use a Jigglypuff to deal with how loud her Loudred is. Try there

    Spoiler

So urmmm, the girl wants headphones now. Any ideas? Actually, just spoil the whole thing if there's more. This is getting ridiculous. Best I can think of is a pokemon with Soundproof.

You get it after you complete Archligh's quest. He's in the Grand Hall

    Spoiler

Who do I give the Jigglypuff to? I've talked to everybody in Peridot and nobody says anything about. I have to find a random NPC in an entire city with literally nothing to go on.

    Spoiler

After the battle BTW, I battled the guy and he wants me to give it to someone else so he can get it later

Breeding is a gamble for me.

    Shiny Froakie in 4 eggs

    Shiny Kricketot in 225

    But I'm pretty dedicated

I won't stop until I get the shiny I need.

I have a thread with just me hatching shinies and complaining how long it took me to get 8 Eevee

Do you also go for perfect IVs or are you talking about them just being shiny? My shiny Milotic has 31 in everything except speed because I got bored and I don't really need speed for anything. And of course I wanted the female sprite so lets just say I've got some 10 boxes full of Feebas right now. I'll check out your thread later. It sounds interesting.

    I take a while

I like to read what people say and explore everything

Also breeding for shinies as I chose to horrible abuse this shiny rate

And I'm going off of how long it took me last time, which was way longer

It might end up like my 2nd Rejuv run, when I got to a point that had taken me weeks before and then got it again in 2 days.

So I'm just going off of a rough estimate.

Another thing is I will only grind if absolutely necessary, so I may end up spending hours fighting a guy that I could've taken down easy if I was two levels higher, or had a mon that countered him.

Ok that makes more sense but it's not like I'm skipping all the sidequests either nor am rushing through the story. Obviously if I start breeding mons it's gonna take way longer and I have bred several shiny mons including Milotic in my main save file. Since I know all the gyms already, I doubt I'll get stuck anywhere unless Ame made some massive changes to them.

  6. I'm definitely going to do another run so that I can get all those character affinity points which my current save doesn't have. But a month or two? Christ, it'll take me a couple of days at most to clear it unless I decide to do some serious breeding in the middle of my playthrough. I don't care about Gen VII so I probably won't be using anything other than maybe that grass starter. Wish there was a way to port my bred/EV trained mons between save files though.

  7. I don't know all the protagonist names but if Aevis is the default white male protagonist that I'm playing as, I like the old one better. The new back sprite is fine but the rest not very much. Maybe just let us pick which one we want at the start? It already asks you to select your appearance so we could just have multiple ones for the same race/gender.

Or I guess make it an Easter egg as long as I can do it early on without having to alter game files.

  8. @Felcatty

I don't know how this quote system works or whether it's still broken but whatever. I tend to stay away from fan games not on the Reborn forums since this is my quality check and they tend to be pretty bad from my experience. But Apex does look somewhat interesting so I might check it out regardless.

On a different, I had no idea that Reborn hardcore had this level cap system already implemented. If you ask me, this feature actually makes the game easier since my mons won't level up mid battle so I'd suggest either implementing it globally or perhaps make it a toggleable option like the battle set/switch. Or at least something you can select at the start of the game. The current system is mostly annoying rather than an actual hindrance.

While we're at it, I also want max repels in the first shop and they should cost 1$ because absolutely nothing is added to the game by making you run from 50000 wild Pokemon when you have no interest in battling them anyway. Or even better, a nice key item that you can turn on/off and it's just a permanent repel.

  9. "In this new system, passing the level cap is not possible. The Level Cap is 20? No matter how many battles you do before breaking this cap,

no Pokemon will exceed level 20."

YES. THIS. I've been wondering for years why nobody has implemented this instead of the annoying Pokemon not listening to you bullshit. If all my mons are at the cap before I battle a gym leader, it's almost guaranteed that at least one will pass the cap and start disobeying me in the MIDDLE OF THE BATTLE. What sense does that make? And no more spamming reverse candies after every trainer battle either. Just yes.

I just assumed that since none of the fan games had this extremely obvious feature, it was just really difficult to implement but i'm glad someone is finally doing it. I hope the developers of other fan games will follow suit.

  10. I'm kinda conflicted on the status bar thing. On one hand I do enjoy glancing at it every now and then to see how far development has come but on the other hand, the people complaining about the bar not moving and slow development are extremely annoying. I might prefer just *POOF* new version out whenever it's done. Especially if it would lessen pressure on you and help you work better. Still, I respect your decision and am glad to see development is that far in already. Also that you have a dev team now, congrats.

I assume that ??? bar is the new thing you're going to talk about? I'll keep an eye out for it and good luck!

  11. Can someone just tell whether there's a Scarlet route and what I'm suppose to do to get. I think I got all her points, I gave the stone to Shiv and I saved her from jumping off the roof but it looks like I still got cucked by Connor while Ava is being nice to me. So did I fuck up somewhere or is this just how it's suppose to be?

I can only think of giving the stone to Nova and maybe being as mean to Ava as possible? Or maybe not saving Scarlet and seeing where that goes but replaying the game right away would be so tedious since I can't skip forward and have to battle 50.000 trainers. I'm not gonna do it unless I at least know there's a point so can someone just tell so I don't have to search through the 149 pages.

Anyway, I love the game but I will say there's way too many trainers everywhere even though all 6 of my Pokemon are at the level cap. Also the grass in pretty much every city is annoying. It's enough dealing with that on routes but right in front of the ranger center? Just why. Leave the grass, just make it so Pokemon don't pop out.

  12. I figured you were taking a break after the Ver 9 release but I didn't know you were dealing with real life issues other than the computer thing. I didn't experience any problems while playing through the new content but if there were bugs, you really shouldn't let that get you down. Just fix them in a patch or the next release if they aren't game breaking. I don't think anybody's holding it against you.

As for people complaining about development taking too long, just fuck them. Ignore them, what else can I say. I'd rather you take your time and release a good game than you overworking yourself and getting sick or dropping the whole thing. If it takes another year or another 3 years then so be it. I'll probably still be here. I'm sure others will too. So do whatever you need to do and I'll look forward to the next release.

it's very definitely a 'safe place',

    I said "Safe space".

You clearly haven't been following current events in the US very closely. Maybe Google the term. Although it seems funny at first, it's really quite frightening that this is happening to our society.

It is narrow to presume that everything posted here is akin to as detached a hypothesis as your own

I never said anything of the sort. I said they are most likely hypotheses at best. Mine is a hypothesis at best too. I never made any claims comparing the two nor did I assert any kind of likelyhood on their validity.

Creationism for example is also a hypothesis at best. (I say at best, because a hypothesis usually assumes some experiments could potentially be done to confirm or disprove it.) Abiogenesis is also a hypothesis.

Obviously these two are worlds apart in terms of how likely they are to be correct.

It could very well be the same for whatever you proposed. That would still not stop it from being a hypothesis unless it's already become an established scientific theory.

and that is not necessary for scientific naturalism and spirituality to be mutually exclusive.

It depends on how you define "Spirituality" I guess. Scientific naturalism assumes everything is subject to scientific inquiry. So that would have to apply to whatever "spiritual" thing you are claiming exists. Certainly if you could confirm it's existence then it would just become a part of nature. I have no doubt that future scientific technology will seem like magic to us, so in that sense the supernatural could exist but it would simply become part of nature when we find it.

So yea I'll go look at your posts eventually and I hope you clearly define "spirituality" in it at the beginning. It is a very vague word that has different meanings to different people.

would want to preempt any debate that would spiral into an argument...especially on as volatile a topic as personal religious or theistic beliefs. I would request participants to employ a moderate tone in their expressions or opinions, and to mellow their mindsets to be receptive and tolerant of ideas which one may not at first glance comprehend or agree with. There's a lot of difference between an enquiry and an inquisition, as stated in The Rules on page 1.

I would also now respond directly to @Gheist: There is usually no "method to independently verify" what is defined as a belief...And yes, people do generally think what they believe in is 'actually true' according to them, in a broad sense. I could ask you the same questions with regards to your own scenario of an omnipotent God-figure's psyche and what you theorise to be his/her/its behaviour, as they too may seem as incredulous to me as some other might to you. The very nature of such colossal theories is assumptive, and therefore modeled upon our own capacity and nature of thought and our own (very limited) understanding of our world(s) as we know them.

First of all, I don't even know what you consider an argument. Is the problem just my tone or am I not allowed to question people on here at all? Is this a safe space?

As for the actual topic, for any belief we hold, there has to be some reason why we hold it. Even in philosophy there should be some reason why we concuted those specific beliefs and not different ones.

I think asking somebody why they believe something is the first step to a discussion. "Why do you believe this and why should anyone else believe it?"

On this specific case, I wasn't completely sure whether this was role playing, theory crafting or actual beliefs. That is why I asked. My little scenario was just an idea that should be discussed and expanded upon.

I certainly do not believe that this is actually true, not do I expect anyone else to believe it either. I am a Darwinist and an atheist. I believe in no Gods and in scientific naturalism.

But by all means, tell me why an omnipotent god wouldn't want to erase his memories and power to avoid going insane from boredom. There would be nothing left to learn or experience so I came up with a possible solution.

If you have a better one or a reason why mine is bad I'd love to hear it. I didn't post it (although to be fair that was not the whole idea, it was meant to be a teaser or something) because I wanted people NOT to give their honest opinion and expand the topic.

Oh and my scenario is not a theory, it is a hypothesis at best. So is the one I replied to and I imagine everything else on here as well.

I might go back and read some of your posts or make my actual post eventually but probably not soon as I am very busy with my studies at the moment.

People get sent here for specific purposes like helping others, and when we "die" here we go back.

    Christ. . .

I actually read that whole thing. Let me just ask what i the purpose of Earth again in your scenario? Why would you care about helping anyone on Earth if it's all virtual? Shouldn't we all just kill ourselves and go to Cerri ASAP?

The laws of physics clearly don't apply up there either so what laws do apply and where did people/life come from.

Now for the more serious questions.

Do you actually believe this? If yes, how did you determine any of this to be true and what method can we use to independently confirm what you're saying?

    And the more philosophical question.

Why would anybody want an afterlife that you are forced to live in forever with no hope of ever dying? I certainly don't feel like dying just yet but can you imagine hundreds, thousands, millions, billions, trillions of years have past and you are still alive, no closer to dying than you were at the start. Infinity is a long time. Anyone would get bored eventually and probably wish to die.

I guess your coma thing works as some kind of break from living and I have considered things such as erasing oneself from existence for a while (simulating death) and coming back eventually.

The ONLY way I would accept any kind of eternal life is one where I have to option to die whenever I choose to. I understand the fear of death is what drives these religions to promise eternal life but the second you start to think about it, the idea becomes abhorrent.

Anyway, this thread looks interesting. I might post a scenario of my own about what an all powerful, all knowing God would do (or at least what I think he would do having all that knowledge). It involves relinquishing his knowledge and power so he can experience all sorts of emotions (including negative ones like pain and simple boredom) in preset worlds. So no knowledge of being God. No powers either depending on the world.

Obviously he would do this since otherwise he'd just sit alone in the void with nothing to do, learn or experience for all eternity. Only other option would be erasing himself from existence as mentioned earlier.

An infinite amount of worlds to explore and he could even do the same one over and over since he'd have no memories each time he started it.

  16. Re-read what I said and focus on the "scientist" and the "breeding and crossbreeding" parts.

That said, gene therapy is a process in progress without significant results, bar a couple of hereditary diseases like Cystic fibrosis. (for K_H)

And No. Genetically manipulating human genes is unacceptable. Human traits are not scaled from 0 to 31 and most characteristics appear after a combined effect from multiple genes, many of which we have absolutely no idea what they do, even after the genome project was completed. The only situation in which gene manipulation would be ethical is changing the fetus's gender in a case of a 100% (or close to that) chance of it getting a hereditary disease from its parents due to its gender, with the pathological allele residing either on the X or the Y chromosome.

That said, pixelated monsters are a different thing alltogether, and you can run battling simulations on showdown and pokemon online. For people who feel attachment to their digital pets, this could make a great difference, seeing as individuality is punished. Sure, many will soft-reset to get a mon with better IVs but that does not account for the general population who plays the game. The reason such arguments are heard more is due to the fact that people who tend to comment on the forums are more diehards (or addicted or competitively inclined) than the average user who is playing Reborn simply because he's sick of the simplicity and lack of challenge in the canon games (and many of the fangames). If anything, Ame implements it post-game. And that's it for the debate.

You said "It's one thing to protest against genetic manipulation by drawing an analogy with pets in the real world" and in the beginning you said it ethically immoral or at least could be argued as such. I'm saying we manipulate the genes of animals all the time especially when dealing with pets. Perhaps not always in a lab but breeding animals for specific traits has been around for thousands of years.

"And No. Genetically manipulating human genes is unacceptable."

Says you. Have you played Bioshock? I guarantee if gene modification becomes a thing normal people can do and afford we will have people flocking to it like birds, myself included.

We also have people against installing robotic arms or eyes on people but that's already being worked on. A few people calling it unacceptable won't stump scientific advancement (or at least I hope it won't).

We will also have people saying it's unethical NOT to give people gene modification to do stuff like treat genetic diseases. And while you're at it might as well make the baby smarter and stronger and have good teeth, good eyesight and whatever else you can afford. Keep in mind I am fully aware this is a long way away and that we can't do this yet, but I am talking in terms of whenever we can do this reliably.

As for the game and IV changing post encounter/hatching Ame said it's not planned so that's good enough for me. I'm more than happy with the 31 IV mons I have now and if I want more I'll breed them the old fashioned way. What I really need is a knock off TM or a move tutor or something for my Sneasel/soon to be Weavile. (And yes I bred icicle crash onto it)

  17. So you are against them not because you think it's ethically immoral but because you spent all this time breeding them. That's supporting the right cause for the wrong reasons there. When you breed and crossbreed for moves and IVs you are trying to manipulate their genes. When a scientist comes and does the same exact thing much faster and with much more precision, somehow he becomes the bad guy? It's one thing to protest against genetic manipulation by drawing an analogy with pets in the real world, and a completely different thing to dislike it because of the time lost indulging in the "traditional" methods.

Ethically immoral to selectively breed animals to make them stronger/better at something. . .Do you realize we have many dog breeds who have been selectively bred to have whichever traits they have? Also the pigs you're eating are more than likely new crossbreeds made by humans. There's other examples but I see no problem with stimulating desirable traits in animals (or even humans for that matter) but that's besides the point.

My first objection to IV altering systems is that when an animal/pokemon is born, it's genes are set. You can't just go back and change them in a living organism. If you made the mad scientist take an egg or something and make it have 31 IVs in a certain stat, that would be a different story. We already have items that do the same thing and if this only impacted 1 extra IV I'd have no problem with it.

  18. Please don't implement an IV altering system. Not only would it be ridiculous since IVs are suppose to represent the Pokemons genes. It should be unchangeable after the Pokemon is hatched/encountered. Also I spent like 2 days breeding my 31 IV Milotic. . .and less time breeding my Gengar, Alakazam and Sneasel with 31 in important stats.

It would just suck having all that be for nothing. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who took the time and effort to breed for IVs either.
