  1. Calm Mind Simple Swoobat. If you one-shot everything, Hyper Potions are useless. If it's doubles, the second mon's turn can be used to heal, if enemies don't hit too hard.
  2. This, so much this. If only his movepool was a little more diverse - something besides one of the worst offensive types in the game would be nice (and it wouldn't hurt to get a few more physical moves on a mon with higher physical attack). Though Toxic Spikes from the start and an almost-strictly-better Metal Sound (that feeds off itself!) make for a total blast early game, and Stench is one of my favorite abilities, if I can get the speed advantage...

Electric types are your savior against Chatot (and really everything in this game. Save one for Crobat later... and then a Thunderwave for Gengar after that...). If you can get a Thunderwave on one that early, all you need do is pray you don't fail your confusion check. ...and Kriketune is unfair until you reach Chatot. Spam that Fury Cutter all day~
  4. I got swept by Honchkrow the first time, but the second time around, I just hit it with a Close Combat and let it kill itself with Brave Bird. Then Calm Mind/Drought Ninetales cleaned up. Umbreon was a huge hassle, though. It was so wally (high defensiveness, leftovers, 100000 hyper potions), I almost ran out of flamethrowers. This was one of the only fights I won with a severely underleveled teammate (and I didn't even use it as a sacrifice for an extra turn, either!)
  5. Simple Swoobat. Calm Mind a few times vs a Special Attacker, then sweep. I also like the Drought Vulpix I got. I was torn about using it, since my starter was already fire, but then it had the ability to remove the omni-present rain, and there was much rejoicing. Also, it turns out Pachirisu was invaluable for much of the early game, though this applies to any electric type really (one that learns Thunder Wave earlier would probably be better) - it helps immensely vs Chatot and Crobat (lucky Spark paralyze ftw!), and it slowed Shade's Gengar down just enough to beat it.
  6. The only physical attacks I have seen on the TMs we get are utility moves (field moves, the weirdness that is Fling), and Explosion. Strength is the only attack move with any power and without drawbacks, and it's only Normal. Meanwhile, we get special moves that cover the spectrum of types, and Calm Mind (unless you managed to get Trick Room instead). Any chance for mons that like hitting things to get some love? (I'd mention my Infernape here, but unfortunately it's Modest, so it actually has higher Sp. Atk despite only learning physical moves...)
  7. That aside, shouldn't he USE Trick Room in battle, so the field's effect with the move can actually be applied? Or was he supposed to but didn't because I had a Cofagrigus and Escavalier (two real slowpokes)?
  8. This guy in 7th sells these two items; what purpose are they? I hear the data chip gets you porygon? If so, where?
  9. He gave me calm mind (ep 11)... Is that not what you meant?
  10. I see that the Chess Field boosts Trick Room, but what good is that if only Porygon-Z actually learns it? Is there a Trick Room TM? It would have helped a lot, since I finished with two really slow dudes, and I don't think it's healthy the amount of Cotton Candy I am feeding my Cofagrigus (though he's already dead, so it's probably okay).
  11. The rightmost two trees in the North don't seem to be attracting anything...
  12. The trees say "if you wait long enough, a pokemon may appear." Do you have to wait, or does it appear instantly if it will appear?
  13. This battle suffers from excessive dialogue. Ame needs to let you save after the dialogue, just before fighting, so you don't have to hit buttons for 5 minutes on every restart.
  14. Is there a list somewhere of items and moves that are in-game but nor yet coded to work properly? So far, in my experience, Payback does not increase in damage, Nature Power is always Tri-Attack (even in Full Bloom areas, I think), and Shell Bell only heals 1 HP. Anything else I shouldn't be too disappointed in finding?
  15. Well, Trubbish was way too low even in 10.5, shiny or not. Dunno about the bats, cause I just got them recently, though.
  16. Some back sprites such as Trubbish and the Zubat line are too far down on the screen, ending up mostly covered by the text bar (trubbish, for example, you can only see his "ears"). Other mons, however, are placed just fine... Please, I wanna see my shiny Crobat in all his glory, and not just the one wing!
  17. It doesn't get endless Full Restores like Garchomp did, does it?
  18. Buy a bunch of Sticky Barbs and use Inkay's Switcheroo. Go all Contrary on their Leftovers. Is there a Furfrou hairdresser yet?
  19. Oh, duh, I feel so dumb now. Of COURSE it's the Dept. Store!
  20. I seem to remember somewhere where a sticky barb and other hold items were purchasable, as well as a shop selling nonstandard pokeballs (net, dive, etc). I cannot for the life of me remember WHERE these places are. Can anyone help me out?
  21. Shelmet and Karrablast also work with Link Stone.
  22. Pachirisu, the only electric type I have so far (and the only one I've seen, save the Magnemites in Shade's power plant) is a total beast. First, he was instrumental in defeating my first nemesis, that team-sweeping Chatot, then he beat the Crobat that would also sweep me, and now he has been instrumental in beating Shade's horrible Gengar! Also, Sweet Kiss totally gimmicked a Pangoro to death. To think a horrible Pikachu knockoff that can't even evolve could be such a lynchpin of my team...
  23. So how do you FINISH the puzzle? I swear I had the Slurpuff fully built, but had no idea how to confirm that I was done, and ended up accidentally hitting the "b" button and cancelling the puzzle. Was one of the pieces just wrong, or is there a trick to it?
  24. The description of this item isn't especially descriptive; what does it do? And how much do the three flavors of ice-cream you can buy on hot days heal?
