  1. Just started Initial D. It's giving me Sailor Moon levels of absurd grinning

  2. The point I'm trying to make above is that while it's cheaper to upgrade a single console, it's more expensive to upgrade every console you need to play the variety of games since there's greater exclusivity between consoles than there is between PCs My Wii broke not too long ago, I think we had it for three, maybe four, years? Not sure. Not really that significant, just pointing out that consoles die of old age too. Again, IDK which actually lasts longer although when it comes specifically to mechanical failure I'd expect consoles do actually have it occur less. Oh yeah, esp. since PC games often take advantage of the whole "mouse and keyboard" thing, lol And I've enjoyed a few console games too. I'm really not trying to say you shouldn't get one or the other, or even that PC is actually universally better since even with more tangible advantages, people value certain things differently (like how some people excessively value mods) Yes, I'm arguing the accessibility of games. What I'm trying to avoid is discussing which has better games that the other doesn't have since what makes a game good is highly subjective
  3. I was speaking within a single generation, although backwards compatibility does play into things However to that point, I've only run into this with the PC-98 Touhou games, which require ten to fifteen minutes of emulator setup to run. Can you give a more recent example so I have a better idea of what you're talking about? I've not had trouble running games made during the Windows XP era on 7 or 8
  4. *trumpets triumpetly* Cheryn Amelia followed Cheryn's lead and started looking through the consoles for a map. Cheryn found it first, her third console had a copy of the facility map stored on it. She was able to download it to her HUD and take a closer look. Her current location was labeled "computer storage" and the one through the wall... "child bank." It was unclear exactly what this meant, but considering Tallow's state when they found him, it probably wasn't good. It looked like it was around thrice the size of the computer storage room. (OOC: all that for this tiny thing. I'm gonna actually make an effort to make the map now like I said I would months ago)
  5. Alright, that went Pwell. I'm going to ruin it by talking about some points and likely disagreeing in some cases. Please note that I'm most interested in understanding and clarifying and not trying to be antagonistic ^^ Ah, this is a good point. I don't usually think of handhelds in the same vein as other consoles (although the, uh, Switch exists now so what do I know). I usually compare handheld gaming to mobile gaming and compare home consoles to PCs So I wanted to point out that I play 80% of my PC games with an Xbox 360 controller and only play a very few games with controller support using a mouse and keyboard (and several without controller support I often still use a controller for via 3rd party stuff) Not for the same reasons, but I prefer to not use mods either. Minecraft and Don't Starve being the main exceptions Indeed. And I do it because the food is entirely a matter of personal preference and we could sit here for hours arguing over which tastes better and that would become the entire discussion. To continue the analogy: I want to know about how much the food costs, portion sizes, customer service, how many locations are in my area, etc. In the end I'll still probably go to the place that tastes best to me, but I still want to know all the rest Since I have interest in only two of these games, I have no issue missing out on them. I could list off PC-only games I think are awesome that you're missing out on, but you'd probably have interest in only two of them so there's really no point. Taste in games isn't a tangible advantage, it's just a personal thing Also I'd like to point out, these span across multiple consoles. If you can only get one console you miss out on most of them anyways in addition to PC games I don't actually know the gaming lifespan for PCs, but if you're willing to have your graphics suffer later into its life, it's longer than consoles, yes? This is hardly true. Unless you only count "exclusive" for things that have a contract to not release elsewhere. PC has plenty of games that console doesn't. Thus why I preempted this point earlier (or rather attempted to), since it goes both ways and just eventually ends up being personal preference anyways Not actually a standard thing, but I have the intention of hooking up a PC to my TV when I move out and playing most of my games from my couch (ATM I can't use the couch for myself anyways, but that's a personal thing) It's gon be kewl This seems to be the main thing, and it's a solid point. I've not had much trouble on this front so I didn't think of it This has not been my experience at all unless buying a game from the previous console generation. It's a big part of why consoles have been inaccessible to me even in the times when I've actively wanted them. Not necessarily saying this is wrong, but it's hard for me to believe I sorta mentioned it earlier, but just as a general point: An individual console is cheaper than a quality PC (esp. if you're going for Nintendo). But you're going to have to buy 3-5 to get access to all the games, at which point you're spending as much or more than you are to get a quality gaming PC that can run every PC game at high settings. And you can get one that can manage most games at high settings for a lot cheaper Thanks again, Lexi ^^
  6. Oyeh. I forgot about trapping you multiple times over. Ooops, uh, you don't have to post until I've given you an actual opportunity, sorry >_< I'll get on Strat's response shortly. Other replies will come once I'm sure I've caught up everywhere else
  7. So the pc vs console debate popped up around me earlier and its been on my mind because I can't really think of any actual reason to choose a console outside personal preference/dedication; I can't think of any tangible advantages to it Anybody who actually bits consoles want to enlighten me as to why you'd get a console instead of a decent pc for your gaming? Oh, and I'm gonna go ahead and exclude game exclusivity from the discussion. That goes all directions and comes down entirely to preference. TY, Lexi
  8. . This isn't waiting on me at all :/ Except Strat. Strat is still waiting on me. For once something being silent isn't entirely on me That being the case, if you have no intent to continue, please notify me asap. Anyone who does not post within the next week (except Strat since that's on me) will be noped. Going forwards from there we'll be running on a two week pace deadline. I had intended to do this at the players' pace entirely, but that seems to have failed so I'm gonna be pushier. Apologies if this means you won't be able to continue in the rp.
  9. Watching a video about the sad state of comedy. Things have gotten so bad that there's people who get offended when you make jokes at your own expense because they're so absolutely humorless.

I honestly believe I would have fallen prey to depression and committed suicide last year were I not able to laugh at what a shitty person I am.

Luckily there are still other shitheads in the world who will laugh alongside a piece of garbage human like me.

I guess what I'm trying to say is thanks to those who for some weird-ass reason find me funny on occasion.

    1. Hycrox

      Hycrox

      *ahem*

Everyone is shitty to some extent. But not living life because of that is dumb as hell. So rock on mate.

  10. Tfw every ship you can imagine is shippable but you still manage to jump on the one ship that's so out of the way that there's absolutely zero chance of it ever sailing.

Tfw your least favorite ship was obviously going to be canon all along.

  11. Nessie It seemed an explanation would be yet again delayed. Nessie stood up and shrugged it off, she'd been following this long, a little longer wouldn't hurt. She followed Hikari towards the courtyard. Excalibur trailed at her side; somehow it felt heavier than usual.
  12. Merlin Merlin concentrated for a moment. "I'm not noticing anyone." She said finally. She looked around, searching the sky for a storm or anything else that could have made such an explosive sound. She didn't notice anything obvious, just the outline of buildings in the distance. She squinted in the direction she thought the sound had come from, but couldn't make much out. Something seemed off though. She sensed a lot of mana near to where she thought the sound had originated. She pointed off towards the mountains in that general direction. "The sound came from that general direction, any chance that's the way to that shrine place you mentioned?" She asked. (OOC: She's pointing a little between Ignacio and the shrine, in relation to her own position. About eight squares down on the left edge of the map grid thing)

How they can play with a straight face is beyond me.  It must have taken quite a number of outtakes before they stopped grinning/laughing at how horrible it is.

  13. "No, not really." Nessie said, "I was told it was to fight. Not really sure what against, I've just been following what everyone else does." Nessie was still very uncomfortable fighting, but she didn't really know how to stay out of it unless she left. And she hadn't gotten the impression she could leave.
  14. (OOC: So I'm mostly running on, "time passes however fast it passes and if you miss stuff by a long scene, whatever." But I figure we took long enough covering a short enough time for this to be reasonable and it just kind of makes sense story-wise) Merlin Merlin had almost zero sense of direction, so she didn't catch on to what James was up to at all. She halfheartedly followed him as he made his weird little sigils everywhere. She knew what he was up to, but she nearly asked anyways just for something to talk about. She didn't actually say anything, instead choosing to count how many orange things she could find. She was on 32 when there was a thunderous crash. She jumped at the sound, rapidly firing three orbs of electricity at the ground just ahead of her in a panic. "What was that?!" She asked loudly, casting about to try to spot the source. Kevin Kevin shrugged and finished his food. "We're not really meeting for any reason in particular, this is just where we'll be based, at least until someone else pays actual rent." He said, "And you can pop back into existence if you want, the neighbors here aren't nosy."
  15. Blink "Well, uh, it wouldn't be the first time..." Blink mumbled sheepishly, "A-anyways, you go on ahead, give her the heads up that I'll be along as well. Hopefully I won't be needed and I can leave right away, but better safe than sorry or whatever." Blink didn't consider herself a cautious person, in fact she was pretty reckless sometimes, but she really was concerned for Hiroki's safety. Blink just couldn't bring herself to trust someone as shameless as HUNTER. The hint of a thought crept into her mind as to why, but she pushed it away. Whatever it was, it caused her face to heat up and start glowing pink.
  16. Gosh, I've got a really bad "finish what you start" record >_> I just used to easily get swept up in things that looked cool I guess

  17. Nessie "I don't really have a frame of reference for when I got here." Nessie said, "But I think based on what little interaction I've had with the others around that I'm a more recent arrival."

  19. Tossed the last of my summer sale cash into Reigns. Turns out its one of my favorite things I got. It's engaging and still has a sense of discovery despite my having seen multiple lps of it

oh ok , nevermind so :)

  20. Merlin "Sure, whatever you say." Merlin pouted. It was more than apparent that she was unhappy with this result, but in the end she was the one who had chosen it. She wasn't one to go back on her word, especially when that word was given over the sacred game of go fish. She would just have to suffer through it, it wasn't as if she hadn't seen worse. Kevin Kevin just barely picked up on Dariens worry, he had a slight guess as to why but chose not to pursue the subject for now. "She's twenty-two, and that guy was far from the oldest creep to ever hit on her. She's a cute girl who works in retail, the more she flirts the more she sells." He explained, "Anyways yeah, this is where I live. It's Shiori's place, we've got a deal for rent and I keep the place clean in return for spending money."
  21. (OOC: So I'm writing this post a second time and it's probably not that great but I swear the first time it was the best post I've made in months. Also apology in advance for when I screw up my JP) Kevin Kevin walked over to the shop and entered. The door triggered an electronic bell to signal his arrival. A little ways off to the right was the front desk, which was where Kevin directed his attention. Behind the counter was a young Asian girl whom Kevin knew to be Shiori. Today she was wearing a long orange wig with matching animal ears reminiscent of a fox of wolf. Knowing her dedication to the craft she hated, Kevin was certain there was a tail hiding behind her to complete the outfit. Across the counter drooled a male customer who looked to be a little younger than Kevin, maybe thirty. Shiori smiled cheerily as the two chatted about something or other, probably one of the comics the customer had just purchased. Both of them looked over when they heard Kevin's entry. The man glowered at him--probably because he thought Kevin was interrupting him hitting it off with the cute shopkeep--while Shiori's expression shifted only slightly to indicate her mixture of relief and annoyance. Seemingly resigned to the interruption, the customer picked up his purchases, preparing to leave. "I'll be sure to come again." He told Shiori, "If only to see your lovely face." "I'll be looking forward to it." Shiori responded sweetly. The customer strode rapidly to the door, forcefully bumping Kevin as he went past. "Goodbye!" He said, turning to wave to Shiori. "貴様はゴキブリだ!" Shiori said merrily, "See you again!" The door shut to the sound of the electronic bell, leaving Shiori and Kevin alone. Shiori remained smiling for a moment before dropping her facade entirely. She leaned lazily against the counter as Kevin approached. "What's up, Nii?" She asked dismissively. "The war's begun." Kevin answered in an equal tone. Shiori seemed interested in this, asking, "Does that mean I get to meet your 'servant'?" "Not quite yet, he stands out a bit too much." "Darn." Shiori said, returning to being disinterested, "Well anyway, I warded the house to high heaven. I don't suppose you brought rent?" "Of course not." "Fourteen hours this month then?" Kevin raised an eyebrow, it seemed she was in a rather good mood. "That's quite generous of you, are you feeling alright?" "Fifteen?" Kevin laughed. "Alright, I get it. Deal. what time are you off?" "I'm closing tonight." "Got it. I'll go grab a bite then, want anything?" "Already ate." Kevin headed back for the door. "See you in a half hour." He called over his shoulder as he left. "Get a job." Shiori replied. Kevin ran over to a nearby Chinese place and grabbed some takeout before returning to the van. He drove to a rather large, single-story house nearby. It stood out from the rest around it as it was the only house on the block that wasn't attempting to mimic some variation of oriental style and was instead made of red clay bricks. It was also apparent to the magically inclined that it was heavily protected, or at least Kevin assumed, he couldn't actually tell. "We're here, Archer." He said, "We'll have to wait for Shiori to let you in though, she said she's got the place on magical lockdown." He opened his food and began to eat it leisurely.
