  1. so yeah, sorry bout the hold up folks... stuff came up, so it might be a bit longer still until I can update. Though in all honesty, probably for the best... I have to figure out what to do exactly XD it's kinda like that weird feeling when you're doing something, and you just think to yourself...nah, this ain't right... So yeah. give me a bit longer to collect myself and whatnot...
  2. Alright, so let's see my to do list for this... Update for everyone at some point in the near future when something finally strikes me as to what to do... (Yay...) Finish the type charts in private Figure out whether Lionel dies tonight [in Story time] or later on Figure out the manner in which Lionel dies and who will be the culprit... Determine how to kill Clint since obviously super ain't coming back... but preferably in a brutally swift and surprising manner... Kill Enyo too at some point Kill Erick at some point... Kill Ray too..and have surge name his raichu after him. Get us to war finally Introduce the radio... Death Match and end the chapter Also- There's going to be a bit of re-writing going on around here to make things abit more accurate from this point forward with an actual military setting. For example: all Genomic Weapons Specialists are regarded as government property, along with their Units (Just one of the many things pokemans are referred to in a official capacity) and are bound by their contractual obligations and hold no rights outside those alloted to them by basic geniva convention regulations and those explicitly given in their contracts by the US government. this is to be more in accordance with how things actually are in the [uS] military. What this means is- you're ass can be prosecuted for damaging government property if you get a sunburn. And the same thing goes if you kill a Genomic Unit... ... ... ... Nah, lols, just pulling your guys chains XD it's 2060, the world is fucked to shit in most places, mutated, gentically altered superpowered animals and freaks roam the earth in place of plants and animals...and honestly, most of the countries that survived barely have a military at all. so yeah... But in all seriousness, I will be trying to rewrite some of this for the next chapter. Since I don't have jack squat written down about how this world actually is or what's going on aside from what's on here XD. All I know is that America, Canada, China, Russia, and France are the only nations left... You know what... I actually got an idea guys. Like I said, I haven't actually developed this world in depth at all... so If I were to keep this thing right here going, but at the same time go to work building up a new version of this world where things have actually been thought out extensively, would you guys be interested in playing in that Re-Write of this RP? I mean, it's totally up to you all- if you're interested, I'm sure I could work out a New Game+ of sorts where basically you'd be able to easily obtain your current party members again if you wanted (Though, probably in their most basic biological stage) But a re-write could really be beneificial here...for example, things like evolution, moves, leveling, all of that could be properly addressed and some legit systems added to help out more. The one's I've already got are OK, but they could honestly be streamlined a bit... along with a hell of a lot of other stuff here. But yeah, the Re-write version will probably be a bit more post-apocalyptic because... well, the basic premise of this entire story really just screams for it to be honest. And again, If you say you're interested in one, we can still keep this thing here going all the while until it's done- but every change I make from that point on will be going towards Surge Story 2.0 rather than v1. Plus, it could be kinda fun for me... and I could go off the beaten path a little with the whole Mutant War theory and actually throw my own stuff in there, unlike this right here where baiscally I've more or less followed an idea posed by a creepy pasta to the letter... I could finally break away from a damn script Actually... maybe I should just start an interest/ discussion topic about it all like I saw Hukuna do for Graterras... regardless though- I want to see what you all think about this. A re-write would have more original content, such as it's own timeline (Instead of barrowing one from a creepy pasta, like I said above) but would still have a basis in the same premise- Pokemon set up as a near future science Fiction rather than a fantasy, with the story opening at the dawn of a new era- a new era started by the last major war for the foreseeable future... wand our plot... will follow the tale of a squadron of soldiers serving under a man... named Surge.
  3. Mareek v James Finally starting to wise up... but it's not enough judging from this... "You can't hide from us...and you've wasted a perfectly good opportunity..." Mareek said glacially as his eyes drifted off to the turbine as Java fired off an Icy wind at the same crimson button of his own accord, shutting off the machine just as the gale started to force him towards the center. The Strategist looked about the barren, wind swept field... only now realizing the turbine had likely just been a distraction for whatever the specter had planned next... of course, not like Invisibility mattered much to Java. "Find them." The Porygon2 gave no hesitation as he drifted back towards Mareek's side of the field, Focusing intensely as his eyes blazed the same eerily bright crimson as before... and then let it fade away, turning to Mareek and giving a shrugging gesture, though he snuck in a brief wink as he shook his head. There had been no outward indication this time, but Java had the undead bastard on radar yet again... could feel him, sense him. Like a beacon in the night- but there was no reason to let the opponent know he did, now was there? "Well... seems I was wrong then..." Mareek sighed as he caught the pink conspirator's sign... knowing Java, there was only one thing such an act could mean. "Fine, guess we'll just have to wait...but we've got plenty of time..." Go on...you didn't even notice that last opening, and here you are, probably going to walk right into this...unless of course, you intend to play musical turbine. Ether way... we can go on far longer than you...I guarantee it. It's a war of attrition and you're already losing at this rate...
  4. Mareek vs. James "Wow, you are really adamant about this..." Mareek didn't have to give any explicit orders this time either. The Porygon2 knew every single tactic and counter measure the boy had devised- had helped create them all... including the one gained from Nemo's failure against the Lapras. Without a sound, Java closed his eyes, hovering off to the left as the memory of the Will-o-wisps trajectories flashed in his mind... and Shade's position blazed like a beacon in a fog ladden sea thanks to lock-on. That Reaction timing training I gave him is coming in handy... along with the tracking and targeting and prediction we needed to pull off our trick with Conversion2... though...I wonder how long it'll take before he realizes he'll be far better off fighting us some other way? All those weeks of sitting Java infront of attack machine after machine, having them launch over and over and over again... having him just sit there and take it at first, then sit there and study it... then sit there and anticipate when it was going to attack, where it was going to attack, and how... learn the paths of the strikes, the arcs of the blasts, the trajectories of the shots... It all came back to Mareek. And even though he knew full well that after this counter they'd be open and blind to the Ghost's little Shadow trick movements from Lock-On fading away, he couldn't help but be damn glad for all that time invested... meanwhile on the battle field, the Strategist was far too busy to bother reminiscing on the intense training he'd endured- again blazing golden, static and sky fire beginning to pop and snap as the ozone again burned and fried. Then all at once, it came, a burst of lightning in every possible direction, the small storm headed right for shade, power boosted yet again from the Strategist's moment of analysis as the electricity hissed and popped...
  5. *Shakes head in slight disappointment...* I know... now enough talk. talk is cheap. You asked if i was ready to D-d-d-d-d-d-d-uel!!!!!! right?
  6. jesus, I can't help but laugh right now... Knew you'd go right for that kind of thing...just knew it. And I'm liking this passive aggressive style Mareek and Java got going...
  7. Mareek v James "Java. Do it." The program needed not be told twice, his whole body blazing with gold as he finished his analysis, knowing full well what to do for maximum power output. The air began to crackle and fry all around. Without even bothering to look, tendrils of electricity burst in every possible direction around the Strategist, arcing and snapping as they lapped up the ozone, leaving nothing behind but the faint scent of burnt chemical as they collided with the half a dozen small flares, each destroyed in it's on tiny plume of smoke that did not draw breath long before being strangled by the currents around. Java again simply stared at the Ghost, and at Mareek's nod, his eye's blazed the same scarlet (Lock-On) he had entered the battle field with, Shade's entire body glowing a similiar hue before it faded to nothing... the Strategist's unyeilding focus on the ghost seemed near ominous though... those soulless eyes, simple eyes gazing so determinedly... "Too bad..." Mareek sighed. "Try it again?" That's right... do it again...go on. We have you now. And next time we'll be even faster responding...
  8. Azery... you have no idea how much I want you to try exploiting those turbines and fans... especially those fans... Huehuehuehue...
  9. {{Mareek V James}} "Hmph..." Mareek muttered on the opposite side of the field, not bothering to pay any mind to the ghost trainer or what he said. The glossy white sphere of Java's ball held firm in his hand as he looked over the arena, right next to his mouth for some reason... "Change of plans, Java... I have a feeling we're going to have to work together to get through this." unlike usual, there was no response from the Strategist... but the boy knew full well the program was listening. "Let's play the waiting game here- put your ability to actual use for once...and let's try to keep the converting to a minimum for now." Without another word, the red head finished his strange whispering and cast the sphere high into the air. Out from it's gaping maw emerged a single burst of crimson. Nothing fancy, nothing flamboyant or grandiose or awe inspiringly cheesy... nothing to signify the arrival of the Computer Program onto the field as anything special. I can never understand why people would bother wasting money on seals like that... not like they help you- not like they give you any advantage what so ever where it actually counts... Guess it's kinda like what Sensei Miyaki always says in a way- Competition makes you a fool... "Go on..." He called across the field, hand stowing the capsule back into his pocket as he caught the white and scarlet device in a single fluid motion. Java did nothing, simply hovered there, staring down his foe... "You might as well just go and do whatever you're going to do." So that we can burn it right to the ground, that is...
  10. sweet lord, it's a wind field... i can see why Chimchain said it was something more appropriate for experienced folks... Why, Erce would probably love that there field if she were up, especially as a scizor, but Java on the other hand... this is gonna get interesting...
  11. Hmmm....while Water field basically gives me a full arsenal of things to use in terms of tactics... I must admit that I'm rather curious to see this field #6 that has been spoken of. and... I guess I could maybe accept giving Shade at least a bit of a chance, since... one wouldn't exist on the water XD Alright, Chimchain... let's see what Field #6 is like! *Secretly thinks he's going to regret uttering these very words...*
  12. FUCK!!!!!! I'm screwed...just completely...screwed...

  13. Because the life of her god damn trainer is far more important to her than being able tear the opponent apart like a rag doll. Calm Mind+Iron Defense is how she's going to go as a Lucario. I really shouldn't even have to explain this- I've already stated she's going to act much in the same capacity as Erce. Defending the objective is more important than taking out the enemy before hand with a withering offensive. Erce capitilizes on the ability to glide and uses moves allowing the control of winds to get the hell out of situations, regardless of how much the boy kicks of screams or demands she stop and go back, and Brienne focuses on actual bodily and mental defense. Sorry if I come off as a little pissed here, good sir, I truly am (But I am actually a bit pissed, cause I don't go questioning other people's move set choices, regardless of if I think their stupid or smart or something in between- I just stay quiet so long as there ain't any horse shit going on, lols) but it's just that I didn't slap together everything for her without some serious thought to it. I have my themes drafted, have had them drafted for a good while, and quite frankly am going to stick by those themes. EDIT: moving on from moves though- God Damn it, keep doing this to myself, giving myself the feels... I just thought of something for Galen's character arc that kinda makes me... not want to kill him. I mean, yeah, I was fine with it when he had pretty much no one aside from Mareek and to a lesser extent their mother to leave behind- and both of them had become more or less completely estranged from him anyway... but these two new lines of attachment I've considered as being at least somewhat plausible... Damn... don't know which to choose. Dying didn't really matter when he had nothing to lose, no one who honestly would be worse off if he was dead. But now... considering this as a possible thing to help deepen the character and shine a bit more on backstory in the future... He would have some other reason for living besides setting the boy straight... a reason that he would not be able to bring himself to be able to just abandon after learning it... cause, despite whatever issues they had, his father raised him to be a better man than that... Plus this would honestly explain the relationship between him and his Zoroark and why she sometimes displays a bit of disgust/ hate for him if I were to go through with the arc in his backstory... EDIT2: I guess... it's more of a question of not if he wants to die, because with this, of course he wouldn't freaking want to die if he knew about it... I guess the question is- does it matter what he wants? ... ... ... You know what, no... there's too much death already with my OCs. I'm going to go...for the path of life this time. But perhaps life in a diminished state... @Chim, I'll think about it and PM you with what my idea is later on. sorry for being annoying and all... I just think this might be too good of an opportunity to simply pass on as nothing... EDIT3: Done. took two hours to get it all drafted, but it's up in the PM
  14. So, here's the updated encounter set for Brienne: Brienne Riolu (F) Lvl. 20 -Inner Focus Attacks: -Vacuum Wave -Quick Attack -Force Palm Supports: -Iron Defense -Foresight Iron Defense I guess serves the same role for her backstory more or less as D-rush did when she was still an Aron. Vacuum Wave is kinda the same deal, and Force Palm, Foresight, and Quick Attack are all moves she would've learned via natural level up anyway. And non of these moves are staying in the future except for Iron Defense. Quite honestly, her having I-Defense is all I'm concerned about for the encounter and I could literally give her no other moves at all... but that would make for a boring encounter, so... yeah, basically every other move on her is a throw away one except Iron Defense.
  15. Well damn... to proceed, or not to proceed... I wanna have those two kinda act a bit prejudice now and be suspicious of Otto for being a human... but I honestly don't know enough about them to be able to deduce for sure whether that's what Grass would have envisioned for their characters... I mean, I could... but I'd be blazing off on my own path, and... let's not do that anymore than I absolutely have to...
  16. Sparks "Tauros shit." Ace said simply. "Pure and utter tauros shit- there's no way that dragon would just run away; in the beginning he was going on and on about how he was gonna kill us all after the fight with Roy, and then he practically freaking jumped down a damn pit to save you from what Vincent says..." "Yeah, I don't really buy that either..." Vincnet sighed, finally giving up on the door and tossing the platter to the steps. He tried, he really did- if the kecleon brothers got nothing but a pile of mush now, it wasn't his problem... they should've opened the damn door. "Considering... well, how he acted, that really makes no sense for him to just... run away. I mean, this guy jumped into a pit after you, really, not pulling your leg; I saw it for myself... people who jump into pits usually aren't the ones to just run away..." "Yeah," Roy added, rather late to the discussion as he mourned his precious pastries... "Besides, if he leaves, how would he be able to kill me someday?"
  17. Yeah, I figured why not just go ahead and give him a bit of boost with that Water Gun... It's not hydro pump though, I can assure you... I would've written that far more epically if it was. All it is really is that Bubble has simply discovered a far more efficient firing technique for Water Gun... Again, I'm winging most of this...
  18. Alright, so... I've gone and opened to door to elaborating a bit more on what happened with Erce... I honestly only had the part about her flinging the metal coat on the floor because I wanted Mareek to find out about it and have something to think about later after this match against james, while he's training Nemo's moves in the forest... EDIT: and let's see who can guess why one of the names mentioned was "Hans"?
  19. *Pumps Shotgun* So ya... someone said something about an update?
  20. ((So captain's out sick I guess... so prepare for your updates, peasants!)) Seacrest Torrent only raised an eyebrow, arms crossed as he paused in the doorway. "....Nope, not ringing a bell, weirdo." "Tch, doesn't matter anyway." Bubble scoffed, still laughing a bit at how ridiculous it all was. "You asked for this..." Without another word, the Wartortle took the deepest breath he could, moisture from the air around them all gathering like moths to a flame as a small sphere of blow congealed before his gaping mouth. He swallowed it like dinner and then exhaled with all his might, blasting a powerful jet of water towards Otto the Human... ((And yes, it's water gun, not hydro pump. I'm just being dramatic here XD)) Mystique "Hmmm...? Whassss that?" The Seviper yawned, fangs blood red and blaringly visible as oxygen struggled like plankton to escape his impressive maw. He only noticed Pulse and Merodi once he'd managed to knock off the grogginess of sleep from his eyes... "Oh hey, who are you guysss? haven't sssseen you around here before- Gah!" The multicolored beam blinded his ominous pupils and the taste of dirt and dust filled his mouth as the sprawled to the floor a few feet away, clearing the path to the stairs for the rather rude Espurr and her accomplice... "Eh, what the hell wasss that for! A guy'sss jusst laying around, napping, and you go and attack him!? What'ssss wrong with you, girl!?" Verdance Lo and Behold, Jack really should've watched what he wished for. Right from 4o'clock, there came the buzzing of wings and a bout of angry yelling... though he honestly could make out nothing from it. What he could make out though, and very clearly, was the teal, shining sawblades of solidified air (Air Slash) exploding against the pathway and the splashing in the water all around him as he continued his reckless charge... and more heading right for him. Sparks "Hey, what's that yellow thingee in the distance?" Roy asked, putting up a hand to sheild his eyes from the parcipitation as Vincent knocked again and again on the door of the Kecleon abode, donuts now soggy and disgusting, falling apart at the touch thanks to the weeping of the heavens. Seemed the brothers had decided to lock themselves in for the duration of the storm, as had many others around town... The Rains making it look kinda wierd... and OH MY ARCEUS, LOOK AT MY DONUTS! NOOOOO!!!!" "It's Sparks, you dingus..." Ace sighed, feathers soaked through to the bone as his keen eyes easily picked up the form through the mist and the fog. "And you shouldn't get so upset- it's not like you were going to be the one eating them anyway..." With that he turned his attention back to the Jolteon, holding a soggy wing in greeting. "Hey, over here! Where's the lizard?" ((Do forgive me if there's anything off in any of these, I'm winging the hell out of it right now to be honest...))
  21. Nemo and Erce and Java {during the scene in the hall} Nemo stood before the mantis, Hands wringing his club as those white blades blockaded his way like a police barricade. Her eyes met his with that intense, unfaltering glint, that stone cold resolve that in an instant, told Nemo that there was no way in hell he was moving from that spot, not without a good struggle. Yes, sure... the lightning Fox was obviously powerful and... fearsome, probably able to defend Mareek well enough if she had to, considering how she was when he'd met her. But... Nemo did not care, damn it! He'd made an oath, and he was going to stand by it... whether Erce was going to stand behind him or in front of him. "Cue!" The swordsman again shouted vehemently, once more trying to force his way past... only to be instantly deterred by the powerful gathering of a teal bout of wind... he'd learned his lesson from the infirmary, and it had been anything but fun. "Cube..." He looked to Java expectantly. All Java did though was shake his head and turn away from it all, Eyes focused on the battle overhead as it drew into it's final stages. Nemo would get no help, it seemed. Erce gave a low hiss as she unleashed a small bout of the turbulence at her command- not enough to cause serious harm, but enough to push the boy back from the doorway by a good few feet. Perhaps the boy had not understood her before- there was no need for him to be out in that hallway, not when Joltara was already there... The boy's brow furrowed beneath his Mother's Skull, picking himself up off the ground and not bothering to dust himself as he muttered beneath his breath. That was what was most confusing to him though- why wasn't Erce more concerned about all this? They all knew the Blonde Man was looking for Mareek, probably gonna try some nasty stuff judging from how he and those other two had acted up in the stands... and yet here she was, seemingly not bothered a bit by the fact that said blonde man was probably just outside that door and around the corner... Even if Joltara was supposedly, alright, scratch that, even if she was so much older and so much stronger, wasn't it Erce's job to protect him regardless of the strength of whose company he happened to be in? So just sitting here now like she was doing- it was kinda be like a bodyguard napping on the job just because her charge was hanging out with a bunch of cops... an Excuse from what Nemo could tell, like she was just gonna sit here and abandon hi- This time the world went black as night as the oxygen sprang from his lungs like Rapidashes charging out of the path of a rainstorm. Just as before, there was a crash this time, except instead of concrete and plaster, what cushioned his fall was plastic and the steel of various chair legs as they all clattered to the floor in a heap... right with Nemo in the middle, his club somewhere else entirely. Java finally redirected his attention over, sighing as he caught the sight of the kid's rather brutal defeat and the shining, Technician-Amplified Turbulence receding as Erce lowered her claws back to her sides. He honestly would've felt more attunement for the boys plight if he had just been smart enough to shut his mouth before uttering the word- "Excuse"... Regardless though, there would be explaining that had to be done if Mareek came back to find the scene like this. Might as well start firing up the Psybeams... * * * * * * Nemo The plastic was hard and uncomfortable on his rear. That was the first thought to enter the ground type's mind as sound and light gradually filtered back into the darkness. The weight of his club shifted beside him as he shook his head, trying to further clear the fog of unconsciousness. And as soon as he tried to reach for it, he regretted it as pure fire burned in every one of his tiny muscles. Java was in the air nearby, watching the match... the same match. So he couldn't have been out long... Erce's drawn out hiss drew his already faltering gaze to the wall directly opposite him. there was no eye contact as she slouched there, the strange patterned cloth hanging from one scythe as the Metal Coat sat balanced on the flat of the other. Her eyes were only trained on the reflective glint... "Cube?" He got no answer. "Cue...?" Nothing. whatever was going on in her mind... he had the feeling she wasn't quite all there... Erce "Hmm...ya, very good, very good... good teeth, nice and sharp claws... yes, you'll do fine. Now, what have we here? Oh...no no no no no... It will cause nothing but issues if a patron were to receive a runt for a prize by some freak accident...sad, but true, ya... get him out of my sight, my dear Mario." She could still feel the sting and heat of the blast to this day... the feeling of her arms and legs turning about as useful as stone. If she hadn't been so complacent, if she had listened to what her instinct had told her, keep him away... just for once tell her naive little boy no, you can't play with the humans...No, I don't like the feeling of those Humans... No, I'm worried about you- stay where you are. It mattered not how it would've been delivered.. No was all it would've taken... No could've saved him. She could've saved him... mama could've saved him, but she hadn't. "Hans, you alright there? Looked like she got you deep..." "yes, yes, yes yes... i'm fine, I'm fine, stop your dabbing! It's just a flesh wound, I assure you... besides, it only goes to show how peak of a specimen the mother is, able to do this so quickly... but I must thank you for the assist there." "If you say so, whatever then. Here though... that paralysis won't hold forever- should probably get her in a capsule before the thing recovers and tries to take another crack at you..." She shook her head violently as the voices echoed yet again in those shattered, harsh glints of memory, casting the metal coat to the floor along with the cloth before glaring at Nemo... and then at nothing as she turned to the wall. Tch, how dare that little shit... an Excuse? a fucking excuse? Her not going out there when she Knew the Jolteon was already on it was no fucking excuse, arceus damn it... that fox was just as capable if not moreso than her of keeping him out of harm... she would not have simply stayed here if she was not 150% confident in that simple fact. And Joltara had been looking over the boy protector since long before she ever came along- so there was obviously something to the fact of a track record. And... damn it... as much as he reminded her so much of her own, she had needed to accept the fact that he was not... that he already had one, and then another to boot who was just as ferocious... and that she'd simply have to settle with being the third. But third... yes, even dreaded third, was better than not at all. And at least when the first two were not around- she could pretend she was first... pretend like he was hers, just in the back of her mind, even if for a few hours only...that pain could just go away. Erce gave one long, menacing hiss over her shoulder at the impudent little ground type, snapping viciously. The fool knew absolutely nothing of anything he had profaned to yell at her about. And another thing, he may have made an oath, and that was fine and dandy, but until he was old enough- strong enough, to not be blown around like a ragdoll by her, he had best remember his place. Remember who here was Mareek's Warden, the Boy's Sentinel, and who here was just the charity case Mareek had decided to take in because he felt sorry for. ... ... ... "Erce? Java? Nemo? What the hell happened in here?" And who else but the topic walked in? "Java, start talking- he didn't do that to himself..." He glanced to the shining glint on the floor. "...what is that?" "Erce had to restrain him because he refused to listen to reason...and a bit of force had to be used." was all Java said to the trainer, earning him a surprised glance from the Warden. In Erce's defense afterall, the orphan had begun to get rather uppity... she was just cooling his jets. Quite honestly, in his mind the kid had gotten what had deserved- it was a bad idea to go challenging the mantis... "He's fine though, I assure you, nothing to worry about... just give him a few sitrus berries...maybe a revive while your at it..." He turned, drawing the item in question over with a psybeam and chucking it into the boy's hands... "As for what this is..." Mareek's eyes widened in realization. Java saw no need to go on.
  22. Oh shit... sorry bout that, I was working on it and then a bunch of things came up. I'll try and have it to you within a day or so...
  23. No, not canon anymore for Erce, nope. just like the shit Galen said about his old man before this chapter is now no longer a canon indication of his backstory. Her former trainer was scum, like Sebastian the Gothitelle will be, as Galen will come to find out before that Electivire electrocutes seby... Mareek reminds her of something else now... EDIT: and Erce never said anything. My narration in that scene with Claude and Mareek following Nemo's join up is what said it.
  24. Oh... well nevermind Hmmm... maybe I should just name the trainer sebastian... nah, seby's already been named in my narration for his intro- I'ma have to find another name for he who caused her bereavement... of course, if she ever sees the man again... it's right for the jugular. No questions asked and nothing Mareek will be able to do to stop it. Brienne or Hershell though... now, that right there is another story. Especially Hershell... maybe he'll be a rocket member... (No, not Galen, already have established he had no part in her origin story)
