I tried using a machine to test my horse's speed in Minecraft, but he ended up crossing the maximum distance (13 blocks) with a bunch of time to spare. Either I somehow have a glitched horse that's impossibly fast, or my game has slower redstone for some stupid reason.
Nope, just pistons, regular old redstone, and stone pressure plates. Two of those three things are supposed to be instantaneous, and the pressure plates are supposed to have exactly 1 second of delay.
