I don't really see it laughable. It's obvious that they're going to do something different. I think they should take their time anyways and not make a game that is rushed.
We don't want another Sonic 06, so it's fine they take their time, like how Nintendo is taking their time with the new Zelda game in 2016 (I still can't wait for that ).
