I'm planning on naming her Masquerain, Illumise, Wormadam, and Anorith (Later Armaldo) to give her consistency, as well as give her two new bug Pokemon for my two main characters. I kinda wish we knew who the reserve leader for the bug type was, cause I could use their name as one of Shelly's nicknames. I'm assuming she knows who they are.

If there's one for Charlotte I'm going to assume it's a Volcarona

So Adrienn was missing for about ten years before we find them under the gate in Reborn City, so there must've been a reserve gym leader for the fairy type that we just haven't met, right? Where was their gym supposed to be? I get that this might not have been thought of because Adrienn was created when Pokemon X and Y was released and revealed the fairy type for the first time. It's been a while since then, and I'm curious if that has been thought of since Ame has gone through the trouble of creating more solid reasons for why certain gym leaders are unchallengeable at times, like Noel and Charlotte while they are in the doctor's "care." On that note, Shelly and Noel have been away from their gyms for a long period of time, so would the reserve leaders for Bug and Normal be operating in their absence? Professor Ame knows about Noel and Charlotte not being permitted to battle since the break in at the orphanage, so besides the fight that the player has with Noel, he doesn't have a Gym and isn't able to take challenges. Charlotte was out of her gym for a while, but is back now. It's possible the reserve fire leader was taking some challenges in between the escape from the orphanage and Charlotte returning to her Gym.

So I'm working on a story about Pokemon Reborn and I wanted to know more about Shelly's Pokemon when she teams up with the player to chase after Blake. Besides Heather the Yanmega, and Bugsy the Volbeat I saw Cain the Scolipede and Noel the Vivillon. Does anyone know the rest of her Pokemon at this point? I didn't get to see the others since she never ran out of Pokemon with me.

Favorite middle Pokemon: Togetic. I love Togetic's design, but I am not a fan of Togekiss. I don't really like almost any of the "correction evolutions" that were added in gen 4. Wartortle is a big one too, I don't like how Squirrel gets the large, cloud-like tail and pointy ears only to lose them as Blastoise in exchange for inorganic cannons. I kinda wish they went with a "Wisetoise" or something that emphasized the old wise turtle concept that I feel like Wartortle was setting up. I generally like the middle evolutions for most of the starter pokemon too... Ivysaur, Quilava, Croconaw, Grovyle, Marshtomp, Combusken, Monferno, Pignite, Dewott, Braxien, and Frogadier are all better than their final evolutions, in my opinion. Also Flaaffy and Dragonair...

EV training at the start, or finish the game first?
ty_taurus replied to Greylocke's topic in Reborn City
My method was to start when I got the power items. Any pokemon I intended to use, I would train one stat up to 252, then the other as much as it could go. I got the berries much later and did the minor fixing- 14 replies

That's why I said "theoretically." Like, theoretically, if you flip a coin twice, you will get heads once and tails once, but thats not always how it works. It might be cool for Brave Bird to remove Fear.

New Status Condition Idea Fear Effect: When a Pokemon inflicted with fear is attacked, there is an additional 30% chance that Pokemon will Flinch. Ghost-Type moves deal an additional 50% damage to targets with Fear. - Ghost-Type Pokemon are immune to Fear. - Pokemon with Inner Focus are immune to Fear. - Normal-Type Pokemon inflicted with Fear are no longer immune to Ghost-Type moves. Questions? Double flinch, what does it mean?: A move like Stomp has a 30% flinch chance already. This does NOT mean that Stomp now has a 60% chance of flinch. This DOES mean that the opposing Pokemon goes through two 30% flinch checks. - In other words, If the flinch chance of Stomp fails, the game will "try again" for a flinch. Serene Grace = Serene Broken?: In short, No. This effect is not amplified by Serene Grace as it is not the secondary effect of the move itself. - Serene Grace Togekiss uses Air Slash - 60% chance of flinch. If that fails, the game tries for a 30% chance of flinch. - This is theoretically a 90% to flinch. That a problem? Use a Pokemon faster than Togekiss. - Pokemon with Serene Grace would not have access to Fear moves. Use support Pokemon to cause Fear instead. Fast and Fearless: Flinch only works if you attack before the opponent. If they are faster they cannot be flinched. This means that Fear is less effective against fast targets. - Trying to inflict Fear on something fast? Slow it down. - Can't slow it down efficiently? Use priority moves. - Use these tactics when you are inflicted with Fear to avoid flinching. Moves that use Fear? Astonishing: Astonish Type: Ghost Power: 30 Accuracy: 100 PP: 15 (max. 24) Effect: Causes a 30% chance to flinch the target. *BOO!* New Effect: Has a 50% chance of inflicting Fear. This effect doubles when Astonish is Super Effective. So Scary: Scary Face Type: Normal Power: -- *I'm not afraid of you* Accuracy: 100 85 PP: 10 (max. 16) Effect: Lower's target's speed by 2 stages. *Fear my ugly face* New Effect: Causes Fear and lower's target's speed by 1 stage. Your worst Fears: Nightmare Type: Ghost Power: -- *No Escape* Accuracy: 100 -- PP: 10 (max. 16) Effect: If the target is asleep, Nightmare deals 1/4th Max HP as damage each turn. *Also* If the target is afraid, Nightmare deals 1/2 Current HP as damage. New Move: Terrorize Type: Ghost Power: -- Accuracy: 95 PP: 10 (max. 16) Effect: Causes Fear. Who learns Terrorize? By Level: Rattata, Raticate, Ekans, Arbok, Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, Murkrow, Carvanha, Sharpedo, Shuppet, Banette, Honchkrow, Skorupi, Drapion, Gliscor, Darkrai, Cryogonal, Phantump, Trevenant, Pumpkaboo, Gourgeist By Breeding: Hoothoot, Noctowl, Houndour, Houndoom, Poochyena, Mightyena, Purrloin, Liepard, Litwick, Lampent, Chandelure, Vullaby, Mandibuzz

Eh, it's interesting but it loses the two heads concept that makes Girafarig what it is

Malamar has Psychic/Dark covered. I can see how a theme can go that way, but Girafarig's the only Normal/Psychic which isn't a bad type combo at all. I think that adds uniqueness. I could see something similar to Download, but yeah that wouldn't make a whole lot of sense. I just think it would be really cool and thematically accurate for Girafarig to be switching between physical and special attacks on the fly. An ability that could "merge" its attack and special attack in some way could be cool. It would also spice up the nature you'd want on Girafarig. If it needs both attack and special attack, you wouldn't want Adamant/Jolly or Modest/Timid.

I totally agree with this. There are bits and pieces of Pokemon shorts from the anime that don't focus on Ash. I think Richie had his own, as well as something with Ethan and Raikou. There is also the Mega Evolution specials with Alain. If the series took on an approach like that, we could still have Ash to some extent, but also focus on different characters while not removing old ones from the series. Let's see how May and Dawn are doing with their contests. What's Misty's life like as a Gym Leader? Let Max start his journey with that Ralts. Where the hell is Gary these days? Maybe this would make the series less cookie-cutter and more dynamic. Each episode would take a different focus, so we aren't seeing Ash doing every little thing along the way and just focus on his competitive battles.

In the first season of the anime, they actually addressed the concept of levels in the 'School of hard knocks' episode. The students at the school base all their knowledge on hard numbers from their 'simulations' (aka Pokemon Red and Blue). Ash proves to them that the real world isn't about numbers and statistics and that levels don't really exist. They're just a mathematical explanation to try and define an abstract concept of a Pokemon's experience and maturity. If Pokemon existed, real-world trainers wouldn't have a laptop and Smogon open on their browser during combat trying to guess what Nature and EV set their opponent is running to see if they can 2HKO the opponent's Samurott. If you were a good trainer, you'd be able to beat your opponent's Dragonite with your Eevee or your Beautifly. Tiers wouldn't exist. I think in that sense, the anime was a really good way to view the franchise; unfortunately, the anime's been going on for so long that its not really about a more dynamic way to experience Pokemon. Now its a lot of recycled plot concepts and washed out themes. Team Rocket will always be goofballs despite them being introduced as actually intelligent and dangerous criminals. Ash always seems to lose his first fight with gym leaders to show that he isn't a mary sue despite his years of experience, characters and Pokemon are shuffled out of existence with each coming generation. Even during the Ruby and Sapphire days, Ash took advantage of some of the older Pokemon he's caught like Snorlax. Now it's like none of his other Pokemon exist, only the ones of the current generation. When's the last time he's even acknowledged his Kingler or Muk?

What ability would be good for a possible Mega Girafarig? I think it'd be really cool if they made an ability that applied maybe 50% of attack to special attacks and 50% of sp attack to physical attacks. Something to compliment its duality theme. Mixed attackers don't work that often, but I think it makes sense for Girafarig to do it well.

Noel wasn't bad for me, as I swept most of his team with Vivillon. He opens with Wigglytuff, who can't really do much to Vivillon, so I was free to set up Quiver Dances until I could destroy his team with Bug Buzz/Hurricane.

I made sure to get at least 1 stat with 31 and the rest be good/half-decent (in my case, Sp Def). That way I can always pass on something perfect, and other stats will likely be good. I think my ditto's lowest IV is 17 or something in attack. Thanks to that, and a Nasty Plot Pikachu with 31 in Sp Attack, I was able to get a Togepi with 31 Sp Attack, Sp Def, and Speed as well as a 28 in Defense with Nasty Plot. He's probably my most perfect Pokemon in term of numbers.

I've seen that thread, but the "best spots" section is blank.

So with the topic about how helpful EV training is in this game, does anyone who has EV trained any of their Pokemon want to share places they find are good to EV train? For me, I know the garden in the Peridot Ward is a great place for HP EVs during the daytime. 90% of the encounter rate is Caterpie and Wurmple (the other 10% is Cherubi for Special Attack). I also use the Woobats in the Underground Railnet for Speed EVs. I still have Episode 14 where the Woobat shadows don't disappear, so it's easy to save in the Pokemon Center next to the Daycare Center and run downstairs for fast EV training. Anyone know the best place for Attack and Special Defense?

How's the difficulty with an EV trained team?
ty_taurus replied to Ronan Erudon's topic in Reborn City
I think if you're using Pokemon as strong as Blaziken, you probably don't need to unless you want it to be as easy as possible. If you're trying to work with Farfetch'd, then you probably want to EV train it so it isn't that difficult to work with. -
How's the difficulty with an EV trained team?
ty_taurus replied to Ronan Erudon's topic in Reborn City
I use some weaker Pokemon that most people probably don't since I tend to use the ones I like aesthetically/thematically, Corsola for example. So I find EV training really helps but keeps the game challenging. -
So I do like the bosses that have higher levels like the ditto-arceus and Garchomp. Imagine if end-game bosses and legendaries had a boss version that were higher than level 100, like 120 or something. Anyone think those would be fun? Like when legendaries are introduced in the post-game, having to beat their level 120 forms before you can catch them. From a development standpoint, I imagine that would be hard to implement while still having a level 100 cap on everything else. But just something fun to think about.

Now that I know where the file is, its not so much a problem. Is there anything I should know about downloading a new version? Just wanna make sure it doesn't wipe my saves or something
-
I can get to it through finder, I just didn't try it that way before. Moving the Game.rxdata to the reborn folder doesn't work. The game acts as though there is no save file. All it means is that I'd have to move my file around from the save games folder in wine files.
-
There is one, its at the bottom of the list. So is there a way to move it, swap it, or do anything with it? I can't copy and paste things from or into my wine files

I found some success with it as a nasty passer in UU. I went for Fire Blast as my damage attack since my team lacked a fire type. It works a little with serene grace too since it has a burn chance. Tri attack is an illegal combo with nasty plot unfortunately. Tri attack was a gen 3 tutor move and nasty plot was introduced gen 4.
