Audition Stage:
Kagari took a deep breath. Just beyond these curtains was a theatre, filled to the brim with people waiting to see the birth of new idols. Once she stepped onto that stage, her audition would begin; the audition to decide her future.
As she had been taught, she took deep, long breaths, trying to calm the incessant beating of her heart. She knew the dance by heart, she'd practiced it countless times in the studio, practiced and practiced and practiced, until she dreamed of dancing, dreamed of singing. She quickly ran through the lyrics in her head one more time. If she messed up this chance, her preparations, her trials, her efforts over the last 2 months would be completely wasted. She could not afford to fail, not if she was to achieve her dream.
"Applicant #285, Koizumi Kagari."
The audience quietened down as they awaited her entrance.
Kagari touched the butterfly hairclips holding her bangs in place, then patted down the back of her shoulder-length brown hair. Whispering a quiet wish, she ran out onto the stage with a smile.
What greeted her was a large theatre hall, filled with people armed with glowsticks. More than a hundred eyes stared at her, waiting. The urge to shrink back and run away was strong, but Kagari fiercely fought it. She was not going to let fear take away her chance to reach her dream. She looked straight at the table set up in the middle of the hall, behind which sat the three judges, fingers interlocked and awaiting her performance. She bowed politely to them, then picked up the microphone from the stand in the middle of the stage. Immediately, all the lights in the hall dimmed, save for the spotlight on her. Quiet dominated the hall. She closed her eyes, willing her legs to stop shaking. Then her eyes snapped back open. She reached her arms out to her audience.
"Are you ready? I'm a Lady! Let's begin! If we try, we can do it! Absolutely, we'll be number 1!"
Her legs started moving in time with the music as she lost herself in her well-practiced movements.
"START, Today's concert stage! CHECK!! Mic, makeup, outfits, it's SHOW! TIME! TRY CHALLENGE! STARDOM, the shining shiny spotlight - It's dazzling sparkle leads to my DEBUT!"
The audience was beginning to get more excited; Kagari could feel the level of enthusiasm increasing.
"ENCORES don't ever happen in life; This is a one-time LIVE, so forward! No matter what, SHOW MUST GO ON!! 3! 2! 1!!!"
Kagari decided to mix things up a bit. As she neared the end of the current verse, she wound up, then with a single smooth motion, tossed the mic in the air and spun once on the spot. If her timing was right...
"CHANGIN' MY WORLD!! Draw a new dream that will never change!" She caught the mic just as the next verse began. "CHANGIN' right now! Whatever you'd like, when you're READY! CHANGIN' forward! While I chase after a new future, I'll be more and more like myself, so I can make my dream come true!"
By now the audience was standing up and chanting her name during the interludes. Kagari, caught in the moment, gave a clear, exaggerated wink as she danced, which caused several in the audience to cheer and shout. She resisted the urge to blush.
"ARE YOU READY? I'M A LADY! Come on and sing a song! One at a time, My smiles and my tears become, a fresh new dreamlike ENTERTAINMENT! ARE YOU READY? I'M A LADY! Let's begin anew~ If we try we'll succeed~ For sure~ Absolutely~ Because I'm Number 1!"
The song was coming to a close. For the last 2 minutes, Kagari had been moving her body and singing nonstop, moving more intensely and sharply than she had ever attempted. The effort was starting to take its toll. Her breaths were coming shorter, and her legs threatened to give out from fatigue. But she kept a smile on her face, and forced her body to carry on. Just a bit more...
"ALREADY! WE'RE ALL LADY! Dancing, let us dance~ step by step, meetings and partings, will become loving AMUSEMENT! ALREADY! WE'RE ALL LADY! I want us to begin! If we try, we'll become, more unique, absolutely! All of us, ONLY 1!"
As the song ended, Kagari pointed her finger at the audience, drawing a trail upwards. The spotlight cut, leaving the hall in pitch darkness. Then the applause started. From the closest seats, all the way to the seats in the back. People standing up, cheering her name. Kagari placed the mic on the stand, then closed her eyes, allowing herself the luxury of basking in the applause. Was this what it felt like to be an idol? Tears leaked out from beneath her closed lids. She bowed to the roaring crowd and shouted a "Thank You!" which was lost among the noise of the audience. Then she walked offstage and headed to the Waiting Room.
The glowing feeling of accomplishment from the audience's cheers was already being replaced with anxiety. Would she make the cut? She certainly hoped so. She joined the other candidates in the lobby, an almost tangible tension permeating the air.
((Like so. That's how you write your audition stage. You can choose to include all the lyrics, some of the lyrics, or none at all. You can choose to focus on your character's emotions, or on describing the dance, or describing the atmosphere, whatever you want. I've translated the whole video and used the lyric of the entire song in my stage for your convenience, so you can pick out certain parts of the italicised bits and use it in your audition if you want.))
