This. Generally, you want to practice and learn a new champ outside of ranked because you probably don't fully understand your matchups, and your mechanics probably won't be the greatest. Not to mention, not only is your ELO and MMR on the line, but also your teammates.

Pokémon Academy: Ch 3: Winter Cup [IC]

The Roselia was infuriated to see Doux reflect her spores back at her. The nerve of that dastardly pokemon! He must not know how to treat a true lady. The Roselia thrust her tongue out at Doux and gave him the greatest semblance to a stink-eye. Ryan looked at the Roselia and seemed nothing but a little fed up with her. "Roselia, I think you need an attitude adjustment, and I know just how to give it to you." Ryan walked slowly towards the Roselia and released Feroces. The Luxio gave out a threatening huff, prepared for battle. The Roselia saw this battle proclamation differently. Now what a magnificently handsome creature we have here! MEOW! I'm sure he knows how to treat a lady like me. A little too enthusiastic, the Roselia ran over to Feroces and wrapped her arms around his leg while he stared down, utterly confused. He turned his head back to Ryan with a face that almost looked disgusted. Ryan couldn't help but chuckle at how hilariously awkward the situation had become. Because he felt the need to show Feroces mercy, he prepared an empty pokeball and lightly tossed it to the Roselia. She quickly shot Ryan an angry look in the instance before she was absorbed, obviously irritated that he had interrupted the "bonding" between the two pokemon. However, it seemed as if she had no quarrels with staying, as it wasn't long before the ball clicked and released a spark, indicating the Roselia was caught. "I think I'll call you Chloe." Ryan smiled at the ball and returned Feroces to his. He then looked at his watch and noticed that by now, the last battle should have ended. Shoot, I have to go find Phoebe! Ryan looked back to his friends and waved to his friends. "Sorry I must leave so soon, but I have an important meeting to attend!" With that, he made his way back to the Academy.- 1255 replies

Pokemon Academy Ch. 3: Queued-Up Battles

{Raiza vs. Ryan} It wasn't too hard for Glacien to dodge the Confuse Ray. He'd been targeted by the move so many times, so he knew the basic maneuver. Roll to the side slightly, and then a swift roll to the other side. The Spheal rolled directly out of the path of the Confuse Ray and chuckled heartily at Lucifer. He wasn't intimidated of the Litwick. In fact, he saw it as a friend. The goofy Spheal thought this was a game of hide and seek, actually. Ryan smirked, seeing that Glacien was showing excitement indicative of the desire to play their favorite childhood game. "Seek." Ryan muttered the word, just audibly enough for Glacien to hear. He cackled shortly and then began rolling at incredible speed towards Lucifer. He stopped right in front of the candle and fired off another Water Pulse at the dastardly little candle. -
Sorry about the wait guys. Gonna hustle to get a post in, but then I will be gone until Sunday. I won't be able to post because I won't have my laptop until then. Sorry about that. Also, here is Chloe. I'm aware she is a bit strong, but I'm not going to have Ryan use her too frequently, especially because we're still in the tournament. But also, she's going to take a long time to warm up to Ryan. She won't get along with him too well and will instead act much like a pokemon above the level cap in Reborn, refusing to do anything in battle and instead finding joy in things such as prettying herself.

Honestly, with the champs you said you were against, about 90% of the reasoning you lost was because of probably faulty position on your part. Ahri needs to land a single target skillshot to be able to full combo you. Darius has a rather short range on his E, so if you're back far enough, it shouldn't really matter. Jinx traps... honestly don't know why she would be tossing the traps out midfight. I generally use them as a self peel when I get caught out. Just try to dodge it I guess. Morgana snare, just like Ahri, single target skillshot that you should be able to easily dodge of have one of the tanks soak up. Her stun, is probably what you should reserve your QSS for. Just curious, what champ were you playing?

Yeah, I just need to find time to get the post. It's going to be a longer one since Ryan's going to be catching the Roselia.

{Anyone who is capable of noticing a distressed Zander} The excruciating headache came on faster than any Zander had experienced. The vision of dying people and ominous flames all swirled through his head in an instant, and words he couldn't quite make out at the moment were spoken. He barely had a chance to react aside from thrusting his hands towards his head to keep it steady. One would think after having been the infamous bejeweled teenager for years, he would know how to not hurt himself with the hard stones. But with how hectic things had suddenly become, Zander's caution was practically nonexistent. His platinum and emerald ring slammed into his head, cutting small portions of the side of his head open with their distinct and well cut edges. Zander let out a shout of pain before seeing his hands doused in crimson blood. "Sh-sh-shit!" The boy made his way, as quickly as a boy injured in the head could, to the bathroom to clean up the mess. He burst into the bathroom, his hands curled but still open in front of him, trembling. He quickly shed his rings and began running his hands in cold water in the sink, and quickly began rinsing off the rings. In his haste, however, he accidentally let go of the emerald ring her treasured dearly. With a gasp that sounded more like a yelp, he tried to grab it before it went down the drain. Fortunately for him, the Emerald stone at the top prevented it from fitting down the drain, and he breathed a heavy sigh of relief. Next came his head. He collected a small pool of water in his cupped hands and move his head closer to the sink. He sighed and began washing the blood out of his hair. "I was not born with yellow topaz hair only for it to be stained to ruby topaz!" He growled, frustrated, and cleaned off the small cuts on his head. He then grabbed a few paper towels and started dabbing the cuts, trying to prevent the bleeding. Finally finished with the mess, he fell into the bathroom wall and slid down, a small sigh of relief slipping past his lips. Now, what the hell just happened. Zander began wracking whatever part of his brain could still function to remember what had just happened. People dying, big flames. Something about the world and shadows and destruction. It had some sort of like title to it too... Iza...yamu... no. Aza...nami? Umm... Izanami... That's it! Izanami! Ms. Reinier was speaking to us about Izanami earlier. Zander's mood of success shifted quickly to curiosity. But... isn't that a pretty big coincidence? We just start talking about Izanami and BOOM! Some huge bomb dropped on me about death and destruction, wrapped up in a little bow called Izanami Lore #30. Zander began to shuffle through the events of the morning, to see if there could be some link. We talked about Izanami and Isis, we talked about Professor Tenjo and Ms. Reinier's link to him, Lane had a card, something like "Number 30: Acid Golem thingy," we talked about the investigation... 30! NUMBER 30! This Izanami Lore or whatever, it has the same number as the Number Card that Lane had. Ayatane said having a Number Card grants the user extraordinary powers. But what kind of power is seeing the death of thousands of people and some caption with it? And why the hell did I see it? Zander began pushing the back of his head against the wall lightly, a few droplets of water trickling off his hair that weren't dried. Why would this card show something to me? On second thought, why the hell is something like this even happening? This can't even be real!... But, if the goddess Izanami is attached, perhaps this is some sort of situation beyond our reach? Zander shook his head back and forth. Focus Zander, focus! Why would the card display something to me? Ok, let's think about the card. Was something different about it? It looked like an XYZ, a 3 star at that. 30... 3... 3x10 equals 30... It was a water attribute... so why would it be linked to fire? Zander paused and his face contorted inquisitively. The image in his head wasn't just of the card, but it's surroundings. The floor... That's it! Lane wasn't holding it, so perhaps it was set free or something, and the power was invested in me? But... why the hell is this even happening? Two issues on top of another. Certain death of everyone, and the certain death that already occurred to Professor Tenjo. Shit man, I just want to solve the latter first. I'm just a kid, I can't like... save the world or something.

Well, I mean, I don't have much of a reason not too. He's meant to be a powerhouse for the team, and being a Luxray only aids that further.

Ryan shrugged. "I mean, she would make a great addition, but I don't know if my team is ready to handle someone like that." Ryan kept a watchful eye on the pokemon. I don't know, she could be incredibly useful. I'll have to think about it. It was then that Ryan noticed the trickster was turning her roses to face Arete. "Watch out!" The Roselia rolled her eyes when Avis refused to fall to her so well-executed trap! Frustrated, the Roselia turned her roses to Arete, and in an instant, released a large cloud of stun spores directly at the Togetic. While the spores flew out of her roses, she cackled maniacally, believing her plan was genius.- 1255 replies

And the prank competition begins. Oh no, I have to find a way to get Ryan to the Phoebe/Victoria event before the start of the next round. Also, Chim, just wondering, what are the level caps for the next chapter? If it's 30, I'm going to feel so bad for Glacien. Feroces is going to be a Luxray and he'll still be a little Spheal.

Ryan was a bit irritated to be put in such a scenario for simply playing around with a wild pokemon. But, his mood softened and he was back to his empathetic self when little, innocent Corona approached him. He stroked the Larvesta on her head gently. "Well, I thought we were just playing a little game. The little one was trying to trick me and get me to run around the forest in an endless chase. In fact, I had no intention to catch her. Just wanted to show her that it's not nice to mess with people." Ryan sighed and got up, dusting dirt off of his jeans. "What are you two doing here? And with Sawsbuck especially? Is there an issue?" Ryan saw Roselia hiding behind Sawsbuck and he waved at the pokemon and gave her a genuine smile. The little pokemon ducked behind Sawsbuck's leg again and chuckled silently into her roses and giving a playful wink to Avis. Bet that one has a sense of humor. Let's see who's the better prankster. She beckoned Avis closer with her roses, preparing a nasty surprise in them.- 1255 replies

{Ryan vs. Raiza} "Of course no hard feelings!" shouted Ryan across the field. Inside, his brain was a mess trying to analyze the situation in front of him. Energy Ball... Energy Ball, how could I forget energy ball! What's worse is that he's not making the first move. Whatever, if Glacien drops too low, I have my ace in the hole move. "Water Pulse!" Little Glacien, with all his might, unleashed a powerful Water Pulse towards Lucifer, pushing him back with all the force he exerted. He stood defensively in preparation for Lucifer's move.
