  1. Since I didn't have the brain activity last night, here's another update on what's going on: - Trainer Red is removed from the RP. In my next update I'm going to kill Kenny. and the first one to post a South Park joke about it I'm not going into detail, it should be pretty obvious at this point, and I already messaged him about it. Now the main reason that I post this here is because I don't want any other PC to find Kenny's body until I say so. The Cup would be cancelled if a student was found dead and I don't have the time to rewrite stuff again. I hope I can update today but I have to go to work early so my time is very limited.
  2. Absorb, not bounce back xD Dammit, that sounds like fun! Maybe I should've made a rubber field or something... Also Mareek vs James is going to be the last battle in the IC. I need to talk to Jory since I thought the battle topic wasn't chapter related xD
  3. That pokéringer thing wouldn't be much different from a normal field. But I have to go to work so updates are coming tomorrow.
  4. Seriously what's with the 'let's find a way to screw with Chim's pleasure'? And yes, you answered your own question. @DarkLight: Mawile can't destroy the cage. I haven't given a description yet but basically it can absorb any kind of attack. This also means that attacking from outside won't work. @Fields 3 & 6: number 3 is pretty easy to guess. Number 6 is harder and can only be used by responsible RPers since it's quite the opposite of 7. Field 6 can easily be abused and that's exactly why I made it, but I'm disappointed it hasn't been randomized yet.
  5. YESSSSS! One of the most interesting fields imo xD Field Number 7: Steel cage! Pretty straightforward: no running, no flying, ground type moves, if not concentrated on a small spot, hit everything etc. It's literally cage fighting xD And no, you can't destroy the cage.
  6. ((Important Action / Adam and Jack)) Lane was out of breath and dropped on a nearby chair. "Finally," he grasped for breath, "the guy is way too heavy for me to do this." He could almost feel how Jack looked straight at him when Adam started talking nonsense again. "Don't look at me," he said to the barman. "I don't even understand half the things that happened and even if I tried to explain it, you wouldn't believe me anyway. I think we should try to snap Muscles out of it since he's the one who knows more then he's willing to admit."
  7. Happy Birthday! I would do my own language but I'm sure I can't compete with Dobby
  8. Solved. Ditch the rain team and this is Evan's team if no one drives him out with a pitchfork:
  9. Dragonite is capable of circling the globe in just 16 hours. It is a kindhearted Pokémon that leads lost and foundering ships in a storm to the safety of land. I think he means this one. And Azery ninja'd me. And no; I have one planned in year two to the Safari Zone. I think that would be the best option to get Pokémon that I limited and haven't placed in the Forest.
  10. It would be funny to see if people couldn't tell the difference. And the chances are high that the two of them will stand side by side at some point since Evan's Skarmory has never met another one since it got stolen. And damn, I'm starting to doubt Evan's team if he stays in the Academy. Ever since I read Braviary's description I want more or less a team like that. Evan's probably going to get a lot of BS to deal with because of his connections to RoG so Pokémon that fight for their friends and don't give a damn about others are really tempting... Medicham and Goodra could work (or D-nite) but Galvantula and Seismitoad not so much. Ampharos and Gengar would be the two odd ones. Ampharos looks like it doesn't care much about anything and Gengar could make things worse for Evan. Edit: Ampharos description: It acts as a beacon for lost people. Ampharos is in.
  11. Logan raised an eyebrow at Lars's remarks about the place, but said nothing. Instead he followed his comrade as he released Ace. "Keep an eye ot just in case," he ordered the monkey who was riding on his shoulder. "By the way, Lars, do you have any idea how to find our squad back? We've been teleported around a lot so I have no idea where we are or where we should go."
  12. Yes, all tournament battles and friendly battles are going to be written in the Battle topic. But I'll think I'll go with Jory's original plan and start from day 2 since Robert vs Ryan made some decent progress. That means the next battles can start as soon as that topic opens: Danielle vs Evan Slade vs Jacob Raiza vs Robert or Ryan Kage vs Mareek or James Mareek vs James can still be fought in the IC to give the other battles some time to finish. Also, DarkLight, you can pick a number between 1 and 7 to decide the field. (I use a different order when it comes to Evan's battles) And for some reason the randomizer never picks 3-6-7. @Zerron: Vaporeon and Skarmory? Are you volunteering to get stalked by Evan's Skarmory or something? xD
  13. Jory and Danielle The Deerling hesitated when she saw the fire bug, but eventually guided Avis and Corona to an open grassfield. The place was filled with Deerling running around and playing while a few Sawsbuck kept an eye out. They were all in their winter form, or showed signs to changing into it, including the one Deerling pointed to; a Sawsbuck that stared at the newcomers. There were signs of pride, strength and fearsomeness. Avis and Corona better kept their guard up. Zephyr Lana waved back when she saw Gregorio greeting her, catching Tyron's attention. The gym teacher bowed over and asked her something which caused the breeder to shake her head before replying. “Ooooh!” Tyron yelled enthusiastically as he came over to greet the man and his Chandelure. “Tyron Silva, teacher and handyman!” he introduced himself. His Mienshao was close by and stared at the Litwick family with a bored expression. “I heard you're Raiza's father? After such a performance you must be proud! Even though one can say it should be expected from a student in the Trainer Program!”
  14. What's a decent name for a female Galvantula? (Evan's next capture) I was considering given him a Rufflet named Cookie but I'm not sure if he's going to stay in the Academy or not.
  15. So me and my bucket of nuts (yes, literally) finally caught up in the OOC. Why do you all get naughty when I'm not around though? Anyway here we go. I'll try to answer most questions at once (aka the ones I can remember) @Dobby: Tses isn't returning and neither is Snap. They both went MIA WITHOUT saying anything. At this point I'm not really inclined to let them back in as their characters can easily become one of the many students. So I suggest you don't look at anything what they had planned when it comes to the team you want to use and go ahead with whatever you want. @OP moves in general: this one is easy. If I don't like the way you are using it, I'm stepping in and let your Pokémon faint. Simple and effective. If things keep up, the Pokémon will be taken away. I can't go check all possible moves and put them into categories and I don't want to do that either. It would only make things much more confusing. But the example Commander used 'Your attack did over half my Pokémon's LP so I can one-shot you' is not acceptable. I can decrease the power but if people use their common sense I won't need to. @Moves that don't make sense: Since when did GF ever make sense? Just keep things how they are without turning everything into science. For one it gives me a headache since I'm not good when it comes to physics or science. Secondly if you can come up with an explanation that makes sense and you want to use it (to help with training, description in a battle, ...) go ahead and do it. If you aren't, just drop it. And one more thing: I remember Azery once mentioned moves like Fissure and I banned them. Well, I'm not going to ban them. In fact they are usable and this is how they work: - Explosion and Selfdestruct: Kill the user. Literally. No way back. And they harm the opposing Pokémon as well. - Fissure, Guilotine, every other OHKO move: Kill your opponent. Literally. No way back. And they do a lot of damage to the user as well, knocking them out but not killing them. You can't use it for a longer period so basically you are crippling your own Pokémon. Of course if a student uses them they will be kicked out and they will never get their trainer license.
  16. TurboAura (1) “No, that's fine! I don't want to interrupt you while you're still in the competition,” Jaime grinned. He nudged his head towards his sister as they both left. “Good luck! If you see a guy named Claude, tell him I said hi!” Jory and Danielle The forest covered a lot of ground, more so than someone would think at first glance. And weren't there more and more wild Pokémon showing up? It would be impossible not to notice how carefree and active the Pokémon in this part were. Almost like they had nothing to fear. Avis, who was still trying to summon the Sawsbuck, finally come into hearing distance of a certain group of species. It didn't take long before the dark type managed to lure out a curious little Deerling. Zephyr Not far from the man with the Chandelure was another man yelling and cheering. Lucifer could recognize him as the active gym instructor who appeared to be in the company of a very familiar brunette. Hosts (TurboAura (2) and Tacos) Brand didn't waste any time. As soon as the crowd finished applauding the Tyrunt battle, he started the randomizer again. This time the randomizer stopped on the picture with a thunderbolt on it. “Electric field again! Ryan and Robert, report to the field to start your battle!” While Brand was still making his announcement, the field was already in place. Just like when Evan battled, there were electric fences around the entire field. Above the field, right in the middle, hung a giant ball on a metal construction linked to the fences. Every now and then a jolt of electricy shot out of it and made a connection on a random place with one of the fences.
  17. @Murdoc: What are the abilities? @Dobby: What is Colere's ability? I think you mentioned sturdy before but I'm not sure...
  18. Nope, natures don't influence battles or stats or whatever. I just gave it as an option since I've seen people do it before. (I think Kenny did it once and someone else) But Ability is important so I'm going to edit that in.
  19. Since people are getting new Pokémon (and I'm too lazy to look everything up), can you all post the teams the PCs currently have? - Evolutions stage (Ralts or Kirlia or whatever Pokémon you have as long as I know it evolved or not) - Name and gender. You can add nature if you want - Ability - Complete moveset I'm going to place everything in the second post on the first page.
  20. ((Important action / Adam)) “Come on, work a little with me. You're too heavy! This way I'll never get you back to the Bootleg,” Lane complained. The boy was afraid to call for help after what recently happened and didn't know what to do. He still had so many questions he wanted to ask Adam and getting the bouncer back to the pub was the best option he could think off. Maybe a familiar place would shake him out of his confusion? And hopefully Luna would still be there. Lane could really use her help and advice right about now.
  21. Btw where is that Litwick going? I was thinking about interfering and throw something at Raiza. Too bad her mother already went to the nurse. Also since no one is going to use Braviary, I'm going to put one on Evan's team if he stays in the Academy instead of Yanmega.
  22. You do realize that the Battle topic and the IC topic don't cover the same time? You can post in both of them at the same time, but when your battle starts in the IC just post your PC is there. In the meantime that battle would already been written in the battle topic and we (the hosts) can immediately post the recap as soon as we have the time. Just see the extra battle topic as a place to store battles until we need them. The 24 hours thing is basically time given for characters to react to someone else's battle. For all you know I could let Evan lose it and attack Danielle directly, which is a pretty big event in this RP. If we went just ahead with the battles there wouldn't be any time to react to that. You would be forced to ignore it, or could only say one thing about it, and before you know it the next battle is already done. It really doesn't make any sense to finish the next battle while the others only had time to say 'Are you alright? Evan went way too far!' And by forcing the friendly battles into that topic, the story goes on without having 20 battle posts in between. And that way all of you have a way to do training / plan new tactics / ... if there's a moment when you don't have to do anything. Edit: I misread something. Yes, the battle topic requires people to read both topics. But since they aren't directly involved with each other there shouldn't be a problem. All you have to do is think logically about when you can mention something that happened in the battle topic. And people that want to react to a battle (like Lana receiving compliments) would have to do the same thing. Everyone is in the same boat when it comes to two topics so I don't think it's that big of a deal. The battle topic isn't an IC. It's a place to store battles until it's time to use them in the main IC. If you want to react to it, read the second topic. If you don't care about it / aren't involved, don't read it. The friendly battles work the same way. I want to prevent conversations from being interrupted by multiple battle posts thus making it easier to find and react. And if something happens and a friendly battle isn't finished before we reach the next stage: too bad. You can still finish it and use a backflash or something.
  23. Fuck my life. I typed an entire post and pressed backspace just to lose everything. I ONLY HAD TO TYPE ONE MORE SENTENCE!! I'm not doing it again so here's the very short version: My thoughts on the new system since I received PMs about it and didn't had the time to react yesterday. My brain was dead at that point and I didn't understand anything about it (xD). Now that I had some sleep here we go: Four issues with this RP - The host is a noob. Yes, this is a very big issue. It's my first time doing something like this. At the beginning I never expected it to gain so much attention. In the beginning I felt like I could stay on par with the posts, but that was when I was unemployed. I basically could make some free time almost every day to post. Now that I work the most ridiculous hours, I can't do that anymore. Yesterday I had some time after work but I was too tired to write something decently. Also my plans this time failed a little. - Battles. They drag on. In the beginning there were issues with BS moves but that seems to be solved for now. A part of this problem is irl stuff happening. Seriously, when did some of you get a life? - Chapter length. The last one was completely my fault (see issue number one) but I didn't expect this one to get to 55 pages before the first day is over. - I can't remember the fourth. I wrote something earlier but because I pressed backspace and left Reborn, the autosave option didn't show. It could fit in the first issue though. This was more or less that my plans for this chapter didn't work out quite well. I thought I'd give everyone the option to show their family and a bit of their past, but some people didn't give me all that much to work with. My main targets this chapter were Slade (head target), Robert and Kenny. I could add Raiza on this list as minor extra target. I feel like these plans fell to the background compared to what's going on with Evan. The 4 PCs I mentioned aren't really involved, but Veronica is there because of Slade's backstory with grass types. Raiza is doing her own thing right now but I will blow things up for her, Robert seems to dodge everything I throw at him to get him involved in the plot and Kenny... what the fuck are you doing? While I should focus on these things, I'm planning Evan's team(s) which I should've done months ago. (Yay for not making up my mind) So yes, only Slade is getting more or less where I want him. (If he decides to go to Phoebe after the battles are done) Solutions: - Co-hosts! I solved my noobiness by adding two more idiots members to the host-club. - Jory's extra battle topic. I can deal with two problems at the same time for this one. This is also the reason I made this post because I want to add some slight adjustments. This chapter is the only tournament I planned. While I might do smaller ones or do some contests when the students are in school, I don't have all that much planned except for vague ideas to run into RoG. However all of these encounters are plot related and can easily go in the IC thread. Basically I want to use the extra battle thingy and throw all future tournament battles in it alongside the friendly battles. Let's create a situation: Ryan vs Robert and Mareek vs James are still waiting. However Danielle and Jacob, who are in the forest, want to have a friendly battle to see if that Seviper listens. - Ryan vs Robert in the IC. (I can actually give a very early heads-up and make them do it in the battle topic) - Mareek vs James in the battle topic. They can simultaneously finish their actions in the IC, but when they are called to the field they can only report their arrival. After that they have to wait until one of the hosts summarized the battle by using (in this case) Brand. - Jory vs Danielle in the same battle topic. This will avoid an extra battle being thrown into the IC. They don't have to wait for anyone, but the same counts for the hosts. If we move ahead with the story and a friendly battle isn't finished yet, the players will have no choice but to follow and show their extra battle as some character growth. You can either go for something that triggers a memory of that battle or something else that makes sense. Very short recap: all battles that don't involve the plot or RoG are to be fought in the extra battle topic. This topic will stay around for the rest of the RP and has a no timeline. All actions played in this one will be summarized in the IC when the IC reaches that point. By doing this there will be less pages and the RP will keep moving forward. We we're thinking about introducing it when the second day starts. However there are multiple options: - We will reach at least 60 pages before day 2. Should I start a new fresh topic to cover the rest of the Cup or not? - To spare time: do you guys already want the extra topic? Mareek vs James shouldn't take so long to finish but I fear Robert vs Ryan will. If not I can go ahead and open the topic anyway and start with Evan vs Danielle. (First battle day 2) Also if people have questions / remarks please post it in here.
  24. ((Important Action / Adam)) Lane still tried to ignore the pain in his head. The newest vision was really disturbing and he had no idea what it meant, but right now Adam's reaction grabbed the boy's full attention. “What do you mean? I followed you here and we dueled... Don't you remember?”
