  1. No problem, but don't drag the battle out much longer please xD Ok, I'm going to start writing the next update. Slade and Ryan can do whatever they want and join up with others or something.
  2. First year Galen should be capable of at least going 2 vs 1 against the students without a problem. Even if those students are Mareek and Jacob who are currently considered the strongest first years.
  3. Alright I narrowed down the options for Evan. I'm going to use the idea I had to create a mess with the fifth Pokémon by giving Ninetales to his sister. Unfortunately I had to remove Torterra And probably Yanmega as well. Anyway his team will use the rain as extra support instead of abusing it with Swift Swim or go pure offensive. I think Rain suits Evan best. Sand was another option but that would mean half his team takes damage from the weather and that's something he wants to avoid. I tried to throw in as many unique Pokémon as possible. His team will still be influenced by how the story goes and what happens with the Skarmory: Skarmory stays: Skarmory leaves:
  4. ((Important Action / Dean)) "Uhh sure, stay in contact? I guess..." Lane mumbled. Even though he didn't want to lose important time, he was taken by surprise by Dean's actions. The blond took a deep breath before sprinting as fast as he could to the right fork.
  5. That took forever to write and now I realize I forgot to update Devin's group... I seriously didn't have enough sleep last night. And I actually have 3 different teams for Evan (ideas + depending how the story goes) but none really worked out... I really should've given him Pokémon for a reason instead of postponing it and being random...
  6. Tacos, ExLink “Where to begin?” Phoebe sighed, '”this isn't really my thing but I guess I'll try to explain.” She rubbed her head in thought. “I guess I'll start by explaining who's in charge. You see, the League also has a Board, similar to the Academy, made out of big-shots with a lot of influence.” She stopped her story for a few minutes. “I guess you could say that there are two sides? One of them is politics and the other is prestige.” “Yeah that sounds about right. Let's name it Politics and Prestige. Now you can probably guess the Politics part. They often change based on who's elected by the people. They only care about money and appearances if I go by what Devin says. The other part, Prestige, are people who achieved something. There's Franck Walker, he's also the Chairman, Professor Redwood because he implemented the new system, Devin as the Elite Four Representative and of course Roman. You met him during the trip to the Boulder Hills. He's actually the Head of the Breeding Association so he earned his spot as well. The last spot is taken by Jeremy Brand as the main sponsor. I guess you could call his position in between Prestige and Politics since he's the voice of all the sponsors. However he's never present. He always sends someone from his company to represent him. There's another spot reserved for the current Champion but I heard he refused so they replaced him with another Politics seat.” Phoebe paused for a second and started counting on her fingers. “Did any of you keep track? I was talking without counting the seats. There should be 13 of them and Prestige has 5 at best, including the Chairman. The last 8 are made of 7 politicians and the last one is neutral. He notes everything down and is in charge of Marketing. He comes up with new ideas and is in charge of the projects to attract more people to the League. He's important but at the same time he isn't. At least now when it comes to selecting an E4 member.” She took a small break and patted her Blastoise on his shield. “All 13 seats have the right to propose possible candidates when an Elite Four Member retires. They also decide on back-up Gym Leaders and stuff. Anyway after they have their potential Elite Four Member, they start scouting all the candidates. I don't know all the details but it's pretty intensive from what I've heard. But here's the catch; Elite Four doesn't have to be Monotype trainers.” She looked Slade directly in the eye when she said that. “I don't know why other regions do it, but in Ymora monotypes are really popular due to the breeding thing. The last Elite Four Member that retired used a variety of types.” This time she looked at Ryan. “You were partly correct about the Gym Leaders. Veronica and I never ran a Gym or were involved with the League one way or another, but yet we were selected. You see if a trainer is known as strong and fits the bill, they will give him a chance. This last time there were only 6 candidates; the Dark and Ground type gym leaders. Both have the reputation for being the most difficult gym to beat. They don't even have to use their strongest Pokémon to overwhelm challengers. There were also 2 trainers that won the League once and managed to put up a decent fight against Elite Four Members. Veronica and I filled the last slots. Like I said I don't know how the screening works and what they're specifically looking for, but I do know that each candidate needs at least 5 support votes. Even if they pass the screening it's useless if they aren't backed up.” “And this is were the salty part begins. I wasn't in Ymora back then and I refused the spot, bringing the count down to 5 candidates. From what I heard they were all interested thus had to battle it out. Of course these battles are fought in a seclusive location to keep the press away. Sometimes trainers show their true colors on the field and if someone with a nasty personality gets the spot it would reflect bad on the League. Unfortunately that's now the case. But I'm getting side-tracked. Out of all the 5 candidates left, Veronica was by far the most difficult one. The Politics part, backed up by Brand's representative and Marketing, thought it would be great if the Granddaughter of the Old Champion would claim her spot. And this is where things get serious; Franck, Redwood, Devin and Roman voted against her. I heard she was pissed when her own grandfather and two of the most respected men in Ymora were against her. Apparently she snapped at all of them when the battles were fought and she treated her opponents like dirt. But the most disturbing thing was she went full psycho on the Ground Leader, forcing him to retreat. When they were paired against each other she apparently kept going on the offensive even after her opponent's Pokémon was knocked out. The Ground Leader didn't accept that bullshit and demanded she would be withdrawn, but Veronica knows how to play the political game. She had all 7 of those bastards in her pocket and they refused. When the Ground Leader heard this, he quit. He was backed by the Dark Gym Leader and together they left immediately and are now causing trouble. They call the Politics part corrupt and try to change things from the inside.” Phoebe sighed. “The League is messy right now. Both Leaders are respected and backed by Redwood and the rest of the Elite Four. Veronica stands on her own. The 2 trainers that won the League also refused to partake in shenanigans like these so Veronica joined the E4 by default thus earning her a reputation within the League and all the Gym Leaders.” The water expert got up and stretched. “Man, telling serious stories like this really isn't my thing! Talking so much left me thirsty! I'm heading out to grab a drink. If I peeked your interest, meet me after the last battle at the gym. You can bring your friends if you want but don't make any noise and don't draw attention.” Dobby, Murdoc “You two really are annoying. Too bad, I had hopes for that Cottonee of yours, but oh well, nothing to do about it,” Veronica shrugged. Without saying another word or even looking at the two boys she left the room. “Oh, I do hope one of you makes it to the final. Or maybe that Spheal-boy so I can enjoy trashing you!” Ludicolo kept silent the entire time, looking from Kage to Claude and back before following his trainer outside. ((Not going to start something new since you both are up after Raiza)) Zerron (Galen) “Fine,” Sarah said as she left. “Next time make sure to work on your people skills. Snapping at us doesn't really benefit the mission. And since Pierre is here it's already hard enough.” ((Galen can start something new if he likes. If not he gets a little break so he can watch Mareek's battle))
  7. ((Dean)) Lane was last to reach the fork road and panted heavily. He placed his hands on his knees and looked from left to right and back. “Damn, what's with the guy? Is he a marathonrunner or something?” At that moment his attention was drawn by another boy he recognized from class. “You're Dean right? What are you doing here anyway? No wait, it doesn't matter!” Lane said hastily. He almost fell over his words as he tried to explain everything to Dean. “I don't know! We were about to duel when an empty card I had flashed. I don't remember much since it happened so fast but he freaked out and ran. He also mentioned something about a professor. Maybe he's talking about Tenjo so I followed him here. Did you see where he went? We've got to hurry!” It was a rushed explanation but the best he could do at that moment. The young rebel waited impatiently for Dean's answer while still looking at both roads.
  8. DarkLight, Azery, Jory and Zerron Devin Cadmus raised an eyebrow but kept his composure. To be honest Alastair and he already suspected there was something else going on during the time of the stampede, but he never made the link with Evan Reeves or a potentially evil organization. The Dragon Tamer nodded at Jacob and turned to the rest of the group. “This is a serious accusation. Obviously I need more details, but this is hardly the place to talk about it. Come with me and tell me everything you know and then I'll make a decision.” He lead the small group back to the Arena, into an empty waiting room. The Dragon Trainer closed the door after everyone was inside. “If what you imply is true, this guarantees us privacy so you can tell me everything without holding back.” TurboAura “No need to thank me,” the boy said, “it was my pleasure. At Hoenn Academy we have a male version of her but even worse so I know how to deal with people like that!” “Bro, where are you? Weren't we going to look for Evan?” the voice of a young girl came from around the corner. “I'm here Lily! And I found someone who might be of help!” Jaime replied. He looked Robert straight in the eyes while his little sister ran around the corner. “So, do you know Evan?” he asked. Dobby, Murdoc “Not raising it without restraint?” Veronica smirked, “I could've stopped him if I wanted,” she said to Kage. “And did you say boyfriend?” There was a lot of disapprovement coming from her voice as she gave Kage an odd look. “So you swing that way? No wonder none of you make any sense...” Zerron (Galen) Matt shrugged and walked away. He didn't feel like doing this from the start and made his way back to the Arena. Who knows, maybe someone would show him a decent battle. Sarah was about to follow him, glad she hadn't to do the labor anymore. She looked back at Galen, took a few more steps, sighed and turned back. If there was one thing she hated more than manual labor, it was not knowing something. “What happened? Why are you suddenly cutting the mission short?”
  9. I don't want to spoiler too much but a certain NPC that hasn't made an appearance yet uses a team like that. Evan would use something similar and that's not really what I'm aiming for.
  10. I added Pokémon that would fit the first random three Pokémon I gave him. Medicham and Gengar are the only two I have a plan for that suit Evan. So I added Crawdaunt (fits a rain team and is part dark). Yanmega is there to add some speed and deal with grass and bug types that benefit from the rain. Politoed to set the rain and Torterra / Goodra are support which leaves me without an Electric type. As for the options you suggested: I don't want to use too many Pokémon I already gave to Lana. Mamo could do but it gets destroyed by water. Quagsire is an option but I think I would prefer Swampert in that case.
  11. Unfortunately the battle part isn't really my strong point. I've seen some of you pull things and I'm like 'wtf, I would never think about something like that'. The team I had was: Vaporeon, Clefable, Yanmega, Skarmory, Gengar, Medicham, Politoed, Crawdaunt, Torterra and I added Goodra as 10th to get a Rain Dancer that resists Electric.
  12. ((Important Action / Adam, Luna, Dean)) "Sorry Luna," Lane said, pulling away from her grip. "I'm going after him!" The young rebel didn't wait for a response and charged after Adam. "Wait! What do you know about this card?" he yelled. "I don't know what's going on so help me out! And were you talking about Tenjo?" Maybe dropping the Professor's name would stop the Bouncer.
  13. I'm so tempted to make Veronica say something homophobic right now. And make Kage flip And I'm reworking Evan's team. My original rain team leaves him completely open to Electric Pokémon... Trying to fit a bunch of randomness into a team is surprisingly hard. xD
  14. ^it's 3 AM, my brain died, I don't know what you're talking about. Stats reset as soon as a Pokémon switches out. And I may put Crawdaunt on Evan's team. I want to pinch people with it.
  15. The Ninetales would be a gift. I was just being indecisive and placed Evan's team on the background. Now I'm trying to work with that. His team would change like this: Ninetales out, Yanma in. People could assume it's his 5th unknown Pokémon instead of the Zubat. In the long run I would add Torterra and Politoed. Skarmory (if it stays and no one else obtains it depending how the story goes) fits in as well. Team: - Vaporeon - Clefable - Yanmega - Medicham (Mega) - Gengar - Torterra - Politoed - Skarmory (depends on your choices) / another steel type This would leave 2-3 spots open for me to play around with. - Probably a third water type: Swanna (Hurricane OP) or something like Octillery or Swampert. Lanturn could be a great asset but I think someone else already wants it. - Ampharos or another Electric Type - Another Flying type to deal with grass / bug or something else completely. Or a second Steel type. Or I just don't complicate things and keep Ninetales as the 10th to add some randomness to the team.
  16. So I didn't expect people to go run to Devin already. I kinda have an idea to deal with that and to achieve 2 (and a third personal) goal at the same time. The idea involves letting Evan trade away the Ninetales after the tournament. (I will weaken his next Pokémon) so I can give him a rain team without using Swift Swim / Rain Dish Pokémon. That would also cause confusion and get another student involved... The only problem is I already said I don't allow PCs to switch teammembers that already made an appearance... xD
  17. Forest. (Lol, made it really fast in paint) - Thick grey line: Forest border. The green part on the right is the Southern Forest (biggest Forest in Ymora) - The brown part on top belongs to the Boulder Hills - Blue part is the Lake. I probably made it a little too big since the biggest part is actually in the Hills. The arrow indicates the Lapras and the rest of the lake. - Blue lines are human altered streams - The orange / gold part is the sand area with lot of ground and fire types. The water that streams through it is really hot and it's surrounded by rocks. (Especially the entire north-eastern corner) - The light blue part is where the Ice types are. It's a cave that's part of the Boulder Hills but completely frozen. It was originally human altered but the Ice types manage to keep it cold enough these days. Around it are a lot of rocks as well and some frozen parts made by Ice types that left the cave. The forest is going to be an important location for the next chapter and can be quite dangerous. (This also helps Galen as he should have a map of this) * Like I already said; the blue arrow is where Lapras is. She never leaves the lake but can be outside or inside the cave. * The Diamond represents Steelix. That area is where he usually is but he can literally be anywhere. It's also possible for him to leave the Academy Grounds. * The Heart is Sawsbuck. That's the general location of his herd. They tend to move around during the day, but never too far. The OP Sawsbuck can also show up anywhere within the Forest and even outside. He's only active during the day unless something happens. * The Star is Rookie aka the shiny Trevenant. He usually hangs out in the western part (but not too far because due to the temperature dropping) and is mainly active at night. He also moves around to wherever he sees fit and can leave the grounds as well.
  18. West side. That's where the ice types are and Piplup has a fur to protect against the cold so I assume the Empoleon line lives in cold climates. I should probably map the place.
  19. Yes, I only limited the team members before the tournament and at the end of the first year. I never said anything about not being able to catch one right now or in the next chapter.
  20. What's wrong with that idea? You can use it. And as far as the Pseudo's goes: True, but I'm limiting Megas as well. But it wouldn't really make sense for everyone to have a T-tar or a Hydreigon considering the system I introduced. There's a limit on strong Pokémon because trainers need to grow first and I don't want to have a PC with nothing but OP Pokémon around.
  21. It's been a while since I last read the books or watched the series. I love Tyrion's character and The Red Viper. His death in the series... He should've worn a helmet! I don't get why they killed Jojen Reed in the series though.
  22. No, I'm actually planning the same thing. Next chapter (or maybe at the end of this one) Evan is going to meet one (the Meditite) and befriend it, but it will join him after the Gastly. So there's going to be some time in between. Edit: If it's a Pokémon that can live in the Academy Forest you can take as long as you need. If they're on a trip far from the Academy it doesn't make sense that the Pokémon in question followed Ryan all the way to the Academy.
  23. Yes, but they are incredibly hard to find. When the story goes on I can always find a way to obtain them since they are rare in the wild. (There are none in the forest)
  24. Evan's team is set. I just have to wait and see how the story goes from now on to see if Skarmory stays or will be replaced by a Yanmega. I do have some back-ups to fill slots 7 to 10 but I haven't decided yet. - A Pokémon that doesn't listen and can go out of control - A ground type. If prefer one that isn't covered by Lana but right now the one I want to pick is the one she already has - Grass type. This is the hardest one to pick tbh since they can serve different roles. I can annoy people by using Powder moves or something or general support with something that can learn Grassy Terrain. - Something to cover weaknesses. I was thinking a dark type to deal with the double ghost weakness. Or a Steel type maybe to counter those flying bastards that can take out Medicham and Yanmega. This slot would be filled be something that looks up to Evan's main offensive duo (Gengar and Medicham). Edit: Ampharos is another option. Sissy isn't around anymore so no one else has one...
