  1. Striation City, Gate Battlefield- "Beaten and Bloodied! Stop the Feeding Frenzy!" As Jack ushered the group of Amateur Trainers away, the girl's face began to contort in anger. Her eye twitched once as she began smiling unnaturally broadly, her eyes becoming vacant and doll-like. She balled her hands into fists, her knuckles turning white as she squeezed her hands in fury. The older group of Trainers began looking to one another. The one with the red hair shook his head, gripping his forehead. "Now they've gone and done it..." he muttered, eliciting a sycophantic snicker from the crown-haired Trainer. The blonde girl stopped in her tracks and took a deep breath. "HOW DARE YOU!?" she shrieked, her face becoming bright red. She stormed after the Amateur Trainers, her Jigglypuff floating through the air behind his Trainer. "WHEN A CUTE GIRL ASKS FOR SOMETHING, YOU GIVE IT TO HER! HE OWES ME MONEY!" she continued to scream. Before she could go any further, the red-haired Trainer stepped out in front of her. He put his hand out toward her, signaling her to stop. Despite her wrathful appearance, she backed off for the moment. "She's right, you know. She beat him in a battle, and he owes her money. You can't just expect us to let him leave without paying. One of the rules of battle is that if you place a wager, you'd better be good for it," he explained with a crocodile's smile. "But, seeing as you all tried to skip out on the check, I'm thinking you owe us a little interest payment," he said. "How about each of you cough up a little extra dough?"
  2. Striation City, Gate Battlefield- "Beaten and Bloodied! Stop the Feeding Frenzy!" Jason Brendan monologued while Jason stood near him, staring down the group of other Trainers. Now that they were closer up, Jason could understand Mio's fear. They all seemed to be a year or two older than the Amateur Trainers. Combined with the air they projected through their attitude and dress, it was hard to ignore the nervous feeling creeping up on him. Even though the girl with white hair seemed to have an otherworldly quality. She gave him the creeps, but he could tell by the way they stood that the real threats were the fiery-haired punk and the blood-eyed prep. Jason locked eyes with the punk. He was forced to look away after a moment. Something in that guy's eyes... It was just plain scary. He was happy when they walked away, so he didn't notice the long look that Mio attracted from the greasy haired Trainer, or the mischievous smile and glint in his eyes as he watched the small, shy Trainer hide behind his friends. Unlike Brendan and Jack, he also failed to notice that the girl in pink's brow began to furrow deeply as they walked away from her. What he did notice, though, was how the Trainers all nodded to each other and began to fan out, slowly following after the Amateur Trainers. After just a minute, they had spread across the entirety of the semicirclular path. Bianca "So... Like... What should I do about it, Professor?" Bianca asked, glancing at her nails. She turned her hand around, looking for imperfections in the clear coat and in the cuticle. Finding none, she smiled lightly. Professor Juniper's hologram hustled busily back and forth across the holo-display on her XTransceiver. The Professor's image flickered to static and back, followed to by a heavy sigh. "I don't know, Bianca, isn't that your job to figure out?" she said, exasperated. "And I could barely hear what you said, anyway. These XTransceivers have such poor sound quality. Now I understand why the Rangers still use Radios," she said off-handedly. "Hang on, I'm switching to my PC." The image flicked off the screen. Bianca rolled her eyes and took off her glasses. She blew on the lens and wiped it on her green pant leg, placing them back on her face. Just as her vision cleared she saw a notification on her XTransceiver. Probably Juniper calling me back... she thought to herself. She clicked it, prompting a "Please wait while we connect you..." screen. "PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN!" Juniper boomed as her head appeared as large as possible in the hologram. She chuckled briefly at her own joke. "I'd let it play out! Kbye!" Juniper said, abruptly ending the call. Jason Suddenly, a Misdreavus materialized in front of the group of Amateur Trainers. Jason jumped, startled by the Pokemon's sudden appearance. The Ghost-type laughed and stuck out its tongue, pulling down the... skin?... under its eye. It continued to taunt and mock the group, blocking their path as the miscreants closed in. Jason looked back to his friends. They needed to make a decision, and fast. Suddenly, a chill ran down his spine. ??? "Oh, booooyyyyyysssss~" came a singsong voice from behind the group. "Why did you take my toy away before I was done playing with him?" the cutesy voice asked, giggling to herself.
  3. Striation City Gate- "Beaten and Bloodied! Stop the Feeding Frenzy!" - Jason Jason nodded to Brendan in agreement. He then looked to Mio, who didn't seem too keen head-on tackling the conflict in front of him. "Hey, Mio," he began, placing his hand on his friend's shoulder. "Just leave the talking to us. All you have to do is look like you mean business, and they won't even want to say a word to you!" he said, offering an encouraging smile. He then became serious once again, dropping his hand and addressing the whole group. "Still, we should be prepared for the worst. In case they want to battle, we have to cover Hugh's escape so he can scurry away to the nearest Pokemon Center." He looked down at the two Poke Balls on his belt. "If that happens, well... We'll see how it goes." With that said, he gestured to Brendan to finish up. "So, Oh Great Commander, lead the way." Bianca The research assistant smiled lightly, allowing the Amateur Trainers to plan their course of action. After all, this wasn't her journey.
  4. Can confirm that Aces can no longer Lock/Unlock their own topics. Just had a mishap where a bunch of people posted in a dead thread...
  5. Please send me an updated Pokemon choice if you want something from Gen 7.
  6. I'd recommend reading the OP on page 1 of this thread for more info, but TL;DR it's a remix of gen 5 including new Pokemon and an all-new, all-original story featuring members of the original cast as well as new characters.
  7. So sorry about how long I've been away. I owe you all an explanation. I told Strat earlier and hopefully he conveyed it, but I was basically just swamped in schoolwork all semester. As some of you know, I'm an accounting student and I'm pursuing a graduate degree. This semester I have a professor for an upper-level accounting class that is absolutely, without a doubt, the worst professor I have ever had in my educational history. I've taken accounting classes at 3 different colleges in 3 different states and let me tell you, this guy is awful. He speaks way too quickly and doesn't make sure the class is following along with him other than occasionally saying, "You got that? Good." I've been essentially teaching myself the material for this class all semester in addition to the rest of the classes I'm taking. Frankly, having that much work to do makes me just want to veg out after class, not flex my creativity like I tend to do in this RP. Basically, a combination of mental exhaustion and being super busy has kept me away. I'm coming up on finals in a couple of weeks, so my posts will be a bit further apart, but I promise I won't disappear like that again. It wasn't cool of me and I apologize.
  8. Pokemon: Luminous Dawn- Chapter 3: Finally, Striation City! Route 2- Main Path After a grueling journey along Route 2, our heroes finally found themselves arriving at Striation City. The sunset colored the sky to their left a deep purple and gold as the orange disc took cover under the horizon. After the incident with the Braviary, they had battled through the Fighting-types at the top of the ridge in order to gain passage through to Striation City. That fight was immediately followed by more fleeing from the angry bird Pokemon, zig-zagging down the other side of the ridge and disappearing under the cover of the thickly-canopied forest. After that their journey had been rather uneventful, though they hadn't dared to get back on the Main Path until they were far away from the Braviary's nest. Quest completed: "Onward to Striation City!" All party Pokemon have gained 3 levels and a Move Point! As the gate to enter Striation City came into view, the group of Amateur Trainers was met with a familiar sight: Bianca standing and waiting for them, waving cheerfully as she saw her charges approaching. "Oh-em-gee! I'm sooooo glad you all made it out of there because Hugh is further ahead and there are some Trainers giving him trouble but now that all of you are here I just know that you'll all be able to help him, right?" she gushed, a semi-concerned expression on her face. "These Trainers are just Amateurs and I didn't think it would be right for me to step in just yet since Professor Juniper back at the lab was all, 'Let them have their journey! Don't hold their hands!'" she said, changing her posture and voice to stand more upright and speak more authoritatively as she imitated the Pokemon Professor. "Anyways, I'll take you guys there! He's just up ahead!" Bianca led the group up a rise and toward the gate. Once the path flattened out it became a large circle that expanded from the gate, clearly meant to Trainers to get the last of their battles out of their systems before they entered the relatively peaceful city ahead. Striation City Gate Battlefield Hugh was standing across from another Trainer, breathing heavily. His Oshawott was looking beaten and bruised, but hadn't given up yet. Meanwhile, the other Trainer's Jigglypuff looked none the worse for wear. In fact, it wore a smile as it stood ready for its Trainer's next command. The Jigglypuff's Trainer, however, surprised Jason. It was a girl roughly the same age as Jason and the other Amateur Trainers, save for the fact that she wore a pink dress with a white collar. What surprised Jason was not her gender or garb but the expression on her face. Unlike her Jigglypuff, which seemed to simply enjoy battle, this girl's expression was downright sadistic. She wore a wide smile with half-closed eyes, as though she had been deriving extreme pleasure from how badly she was beating Hugh. "Ms. Puff, finish him with your Disarming Voice!" she ordered calmly. The Jigglypuff opened her mouth and sang loudly. Several pink sound waves came out of her mouth and stalled briefly before zipping toward Hugh's Oshawott. "Dodge it!" Hugh shouted, looking flustered. His Oshawott ran to the side, trying desperately to avoid the attack. However, the sound waves altered their course and collided directly with the small Water-type, knocking him flat. Hugh immediately ran out to his Oshawott, scooping the Pokemon up in his arms. He said something that the rest of the Amateurs couldn't hear, staying to exchange words with his opponent after. "I believe that's it," the girl said with a giggle, licking her lips. "Such a rank Amateur like you had no chance of beating me. After all, you don't even have a Gym Badge!" she cackled. While she was celebrating, five more Trainers stepped into view, having been blocked by the trees surrounding the circle. One of them, the tallest, was a lanky boy of about the same age as the girl. He wore a patched gray hoodie and baggy black cargo pants. His hair was greasy, and his face immediately made Jason think of a rat. The second was another girl who had frizzy white hair. She wore a black tank top with a purple sweater tied around her waist and a pair of gray jeans. The third Trainer was another young man; however, in stark contrast to the first, he was meticulously dressed in a white collared shirt, a magenta tie and black dress slacks. His blond hair was combed and gelled into place. The last two Trainers walked out in a pair. One Trainer was a young man dressed in a navy blue pin-striped vest and slacks, with a black silk button-down worn underneath. His most defining feature by far was his hair, which was jet-black and of medium length. The ends were curled up with some kind of product into prongs that surrounded his head, mimicking the effect of a crown. Upon looking closer, it was clear his eyes were blood red. Finally, the last Trainer was clad in a black biker vest and black jeans. He wore a charcoal T-shirt with a Cubone's skull emblazoned on the front. He carried himself proudly and the others made way for him, making it clear he was the leader of the group. Like the Trainer he had arrived with, his most distinguishing feature was his hair. It was a fiery red with orange fringes that stood up on end and curled back over his head. Hugh looked around at the Trainers surrounding him, then back over to Bianca and the group. Bianca and Co. Bianca gasped as the Disarming Voice hit Hugh's Oshawott. "Oh no!" she said quickly. "He just lost the battle! And by the looks of things, they're gonna try to take every dollar in his pocket for that loss! You've gotta stop them!" Quest added: "Beaten and Bloodied! Stop the Feeding Frenzy!"
  9. Hey guys- I've been having a really tough time making grades this semester. Sorry to drop off the face of the earth, but I need to focus on school.

    1. Sheep

      Sheep

      I know what you mean.

  10. Hey guys, This RP's pace has been slow. Like, real slow. Would anyone be up for a change in pace that includes timeskipping through some parts of the map? (Unimportant routes, etc)
  11. Jarvis "That depends- what do you plan on gaining by being a thick-skulled imbecile?" Jarvis spat at the man. How dare he insult Jarvis's honor with such slanderous accusations. "My slow-minded friend, we are the light in the darkness, the vorpal blade of honorable intent which seeks to skewer the very heart of this pervasive evil. We are evidently working toward the same end, so why must you insist on making such disreputable claims?" He slapped the man hard across the face, leaving a stinging red welt on his cheek. "Were we your enemies, I can assure you only that you would already be dead. Drop your facade of machismo and help the enemy of your enemies!"
  12. Route 2, Russet Ridge- "Onward to Striation City!" The Pokemon Ranger looked thoughtfully up at the ridge for a few moments before turning back to Brendan. "Well, in response to your question I'd say the most common Fighting-type in Unova is Timburr. Given that we're in an area that we Rangers keep to pretty low levels for Trainers' safety, you're most likely to run into those. There might be a couple of Machop, Mienfoo, or even a Gurdurr up there as well," he finished. "The non-evolutionary Fighting-types of Unova, Sawk and Throh, tend to stick to lowlands. Because of their crystalline body structure and sheer mass, they fare much better on flat terrain," he explained. "Still, I wouldn't recommend trying to get to the peak of the ridge right now. Those Fighting-types distracted that Braviary from you. If you go there now, you'll just be jumping from the pot to the flame! What you should do is wait out the night here, get up in the morning, and stick to the main path. That Braviary is way more dangerous than any Fighting-types. Hopefully by morning, he will have flown off to find more food and you'll have an opportunity to leave- Jason The Amateur Trainer looked intrigued at Brendan's question. It was clear he was thinking along the same lines as his friend- that is to say, he really wanted another new Pokemon! However, his expression continued to fall as the Ranger spoke until the very last part where it was suggested the Trainers stop their journey early for the day. "Woah, woah, woah." Jason said, cutting off the Ranger mid-sentence. "You're saying we need to make the first day of our journey a half-day? No chance!" he said impulsively, looking eagerly forward along the ridge. "So you said the Fighting-types are throwing rocks? That's perfect! As long as we can dodge them, Braviary can't get us!" He looked around to the others, deciding his course of action immediately. "I'm going on ahead tonight. I want to reach Striation City as soon as possible! Who's with me?"
  13. Jarvis The butler came back around the corner with the water and looked at Rhaeza. "So, what are we doing with him?"
  14. Jarvis "I'll be right back," Jarvis said. "I'm going to go into the bar and get some water." He looked around the alley, spotting an area where the building became concave. "You should take him in there." The butler opened his umbrella and pressed a button on the handle. "It's a cloaking mechanism," he explained, turning the umbrella around. When Rhaeza looked at it, he would see what was behind it instead, albeit somewhat shimmery. "Use this for now. It should keep any casual bystanders from noticing the poor chap next to you." With that said, Jarvis went inside. He walked up to the bartender. "A water, please," he requested.
  15. Route 2- "Onward to Striation City!"- Pokemon Ranger "What?" the man asked, recoiling from the remark. "Gary is just fine, thank you!" he said haughtily, looking at his Bibarel with concern. "Aren't you, little G-dawg?" he asked in a baby voice as he knelt over and pat his Pokemon on the head. The Bibarel, apparently named Gary, did not react. "Anyhow, I just wanted to let all of you know the situation here. Obviously this route isn't normally inhabited by such powerful Pokemon as that Braviary. That's the job of us Pokemon Rangers," he said informatively. "What we have here is a bit of a standoff. There is a group of Fighting-type Pokemon who live on top of this ridge. However, ever since that Braviary built its nest here, they've begun throwing rocks off the ridge to defend themselves! The path ahead is really dangerous as a result." The Pokemon Ranger sighed, shaking his head. "The problem is that if we take out the Fighting-Pokemon, the Braviary will take over the ridge and harass Trainers like you. But we'd have to wait at least a week for help to show up to take care of the Braviary. Using the International Standard of power, I'd say that Braviary's combat level is in the sixties or seventies. You'd probably need at least six badges to get that thing to move. After all, a Pokemon that strong won't listen to someone who can't earn its respect. "If you Amateurs are trying to get through to Striation City, you're going to have to be extremely cautious. Those Fighting-types are on edge. If you surprise them, they might start throwing rocks down onto the path."
  16. Jarvis The butler dragged the man into the alleyway over to Rhaeza. He sat the man gently against the wall and looked at his companion, annoyance apparent in his creased brow. "You know, you ought to let me work my way. I gave you a signal to remain silent so that we could follow him back to his hideout. Now, instead of going on our merry way we're stuck here until the man comes to." He sighed, shaking his head. "If there's one thing this damned umbrella can't do, it's carry smelling salts. Any ideas on how we're to wake him up? Or where to keep him until he's up?"
  17. Poppy The Chikorita fumed but said nothing, knowing deep down that what Cinder had said was true. She sighed and looked around, a small smile creeping onto her face. "Well, truth be told by this point most of the injuries have already been treated. I suppose I was hasty in becoming so upset. Are any of you looking for a friend among the wounded? Seeing as I've treated many of them personally, I might be able to help!" she continued, her demeanor changing to a much friendlier one. She turned to Cinder and smiled widely. "Thank you for reminding me not to let my short fuse get the better of me."
  18. Jarvis The butler waited around the corner, watching from the shadows as his tail began to walk past the alleyway. Once the mark calls for help, it's all over. I'll have to do this silently. Then, Rhaeza rolled something into the middle of the narrow side street. Exposed near the mouth of the alley, Jarvis would immediately be seen once his pursuer turned toward it. Out of time! Action is necessary! he thought as he sprang into motion. He lunged toward the stranger's back with his umbrella outstretched, hooking the handle around his mark's neck. He pulled hard and, with his other hand, covered the man's mouth as he began to choke the tail into unconsciousness.
  19. Jarvis Thinking quickly, Jarvis rounded the first corner beyond the door. Wonder who that chap is. Guess I'll find out soon enough, he thought to himself. He positioned himself in the shadows of the alleyway, making a hushing gesture to Rhaeza as he waited for the man to follow him outside. I can't believe someone's already onto me. I suppose asking around in the middle of a crowded pub wasn't the most subtle method, after all. He held his umbrella at the ready, prepared to fight his enemy if need by. Perhaps we can turn this to our advantage. A tail could know something, even if it's just somewhere to look for a lead.
  20. Jarvis The butler nodded sagely and noted Rhaeza leaving the room, absorbing the information given to him by the barkeep. As an intelligence gatherer, it was always important to remember the little details. Even someone's favorite color could save a life. I see. It doesn't seem like I'm going to be gaining any more information, so perhaps it's time I met with my colleague. Jarvis bowed politely after the barkeeper finished speaking, leaving payment for his drinks plus a few talents extra for the information. He made his way outside and walked past the meeting place, ensuring he wasn't being followed. If he wasn't, he would feel safe reporting to Rhaeza what he had found.
  21. Jarvis The butler looked over at Rhaeza, recognizing her from the meeting. He returned his gaze to the barkeep, not wanting to draw attention to the fact that he wasn't working alone. "What do you mean, stealing magic?" he asked inquisitively. "Where did this happen?"
  22. Jarvis "Thank you, good man! Have you seen anyone suspicious?" Jarvis said. He flipped the barkeep a few coins for his trouble and continued to look around the room. What do I do now? he wondered. He said the guards are stopping people, but I don't want to spend valuable time in a cell. I'll have to think of something other than starting a bar fight, he reasoned.
  23. Route 2- Russet Ridge- "Onward to Striation City!" The group rounded the corner safely, taking cover in the shelter of the canyon at the top of the ridge. Jason bent over, taking deep breaths as he peeked around the corner of the wall. "I can't see the Braviary anywhere," he said, giving the all-clear for the moment. "We should take a quick rest, then keep moving. Hopefully whatever distracted that Braviary will still be busy, and we can slip through unnoticed." He looked up at the sky, noticing for the first time that the sun had shifted definitively into the west. "Once we hit the bottom of the ridge, we should make for Striation as soon as possible. I'd hate to spend our first night in the woods." "i wouldn't be sure you'll make it there tonight, kid. And what are you doing all the way up here?" came a voice from further down the ridge. A man clad in a red jumper and a red cap was jogging briskly toward the group, his intentions unclear. He was followed by a Bibarel. The beaver Pokemon lumbered along behind its Trainer, its vacant eyes giving away no hit of intention or focus. The only expression it wore was a blank stare, coldly looking off into the distance. Jason looked to the rest of the group, not sure of how to react to the stranger's presence.
