[IC] Myriad AoW Chapter 1 - Rise from the Cinders
Jory replied to Notus's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Jarvis- The Tattered Wing (Tavern) Like Jesse, Jarvis was currently far removed from the group. Counter-insurgency missions can be handled well by a group, but even better when the target believes the group is the only one after him, he thought to himself. He downed his drink and placed his tankard delicately on the bartop, looking around. He was in a tavern as dingy as could be found in a place as pleasing to the eye as Marblegate. However, the patrons did not match the decor. In his travels, Jarvis had been to Marblegate before. He knew this establishment to be a good jumping off point when looking for information in the city, and as such was keeping his ears open and his weapons at the ready. As he could recall, the only thing he'd found more of in the Tattered Wing than valuable information was itchy trigger fingers. He looked up at the barkeep, a gruff-looking human who hadn't seen the need to shave in many fortnights. "Another pint, my good man." Then, in a hushed tone, he continued. "About what I asked you earlier- the killer. Any leads?" he asked, sliding a sizable amount of the local currency across the bar.- 424 replies

[IC] Myriad AoW Chapter 1 - Rise from the Cinders

After observing her for some time and finding nothing too unusual, Jarvis turned his attention away from Bom and back to the demons in the room. All of them were powerful beings, most with blood on their hands in the past. The chilling aura could have come from any of them. With that in mind, the butler turned his attention to the task at hand. "Protecting more diplomats?" he asked. "I suppose I can help with that, seeing as it's my specialty. Plus, this should do a great deal for the prestige of the Masterson family."- 424 replies

Idk if you were referring to me, but Jarvis is a professional bodyguard. Part of his job is to assess the threat level that people pose. Considering the wild and warlike nature of the world, I'm sure it's not unreasonable for Jarvis to sense something different about her.

[IC] Myriad AoW Chapter 1 - Rise from the Cinders
Jory replied to Notus's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
The butler returned to his position on the wall, silently watching the ongoing proceedings. 'Bom' was certainly making her presence known, contesting the host's every statement with skepticism and arrogance. Pride; a common characteristic of the demons, he thought to himself. Although she feels nothing like the others here. A strange presence, yet oddly enough more human than any of them. Jarvis focused on his breathing, remembering his master's training. Wait for the situation to play out. Don't move just yet. He continued on wordlessly, his face scarcely shifting at all through the acting and accusations.- 424 replies

[IC] Myriad AoW Chapter 1 - Rise from the Cinders
Jory replied to Notus's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Jarvis stifled a chuckle, announcing his presence for the first time with a clear of his throat. "How... Quaint," he said slowly, his posh accent lilting over even the two short syllables he had uttered. The man was leaning against a wall in the back of the room, doing his best to avoid notice. Up until then, his attention had been raptly fixed on the one who had introduced herself as 'Bom.' Obviously a fake name, he noted. Despite her very, very human appearance, Jarvis continued to stare at her. He performed an ocular patdown, taking stock of every way he could conceive of the woman attempting to murder every person in the room before he discounted that as decidedly unlikely. Still, though, there was something... off about her. He kept a poker face as he turned his attention to the group hug taking place. Well, they seem to get on well. Perhaps this won't be the most dull mission of the year, he thought to himself dryly, a corner of his mouth pulling upward as he resisted smiling at his own inner monologue. That leaves me to introduce myself. Gods above, do I hate these things. He let out a hefty sigh, loud enough that the keen ears of the blind druid would certainly pick it up. He pushed off the wall, twirling his umbrella in his hand as he moved forward. "Well, here now. Don't leave old Jarvis out, or I just might cry." He offered the rest of the group a light smile. "After all, it's been some time since I've worked with people who are actually competent. Most of my jobs lately have been glorified babysitting."- 424 replies

Sounds fine by me; just know that I'll be replacing you until you get back. Jack is going to go home. And by "going home" I mean that you will gain no XP and will not be bunnied. That's an unreasonable amount of work for Strat and myself to put into a character that's not ours. Also, I'm inclined to agree with Strat's comments in the SoA thread. If you want me to put work into keeping Jack alive you'd damned well better put work into telling me why you can't post.

Route 2- Russet Ridge- "Onward to Striation City!" The Braviary gave a frustrated cry and climbed higher into the air, having missed its quarry entirely. Then, from seemingly out of nowhere, a small rock flew toward the Braviary and hit it in the head. It immediately wheeled from the Amateur Trainers, focusing on something or someone who was higher up on the ridge. Jason saw this opportunity and seized it, beginning to move up the path once more. He made for the top of the path, betting on his ability to run to the top of the traverse faster than the Braviary would be able to change targets. Once they reached the top of the traverse, they would be in the shelter of a small canyon before the path opened up once more.

[IC] IGS Chapter 1: Defeat and rumors of defeat

Poppy Poppy pouted once again, following the rude Kadabra's gaze. "Hey! I wasn't done with you!" she said angrily. "First you insult me, then you ignore me? I don't know what part of the world you're from, but whoever raised you must have done it in a barn!"- 98 replies

Name: Jarvis Masterson Race: Human (Pure) Class: Kingsman (Spy) Primary Weapon: An umbrella fitted with multiple different gadgets including a laser rifle in the main shaft, the ability to reflect energy weapons and block physical projectiles with the parasol, an extendable handle that allows it to be used as a grappling hook, and more. Secondary Weapon: A lightsaber in the shape of a rapier. The handle is a traditional basket grip with an intricately designed cover piece that is carried on the hip. When activated, it produces a beam of white lightsaber-like energy. Appearance: 37 years old. 5'11", 165 lbs. Blue eyes, dark brown hair, pencil moustache. He has high cheekbones and a narrow, chiseled jaw that give him a noble air. A gentleman through and through, Jarvis is most often found in the typical waistcoat and trousers of a Victorian Englishman. However, during missions he eschews the waistcoat in favor of simply a black vest and collared shirt. He is obviously muscled with a wiry frame. He always carries his umbrella, and his lightrapier can be found on his left hip. Personality Overview: Jarvis is upper crust, high society, and extremely dignified. He is incredibly loyal to whomever he follows, often rigidly following commands and reprimanding others who fail to do the same. Raised mostly by his butler, he has a strict view of etiquette in general. However, he understands that not everyone can be the same as he is and does his best to accommodate others. Even when he is angry, it is difficult to read Jarvis. His poker face is that of a trained diplomat. Due to his upbringing and worldview, he gets along best with pure humans and angels. Although he has trust issues when it comes to demons and monstrous beings, he is willing to work with and befriend them provided they are able to prove themselves worthy of his confidence. He tends to be very perceptive, his eyes and ears always evaluating situations he thinks may develop poorly. Skill Level Overview: A trained assassin, Jarvis is a master with both his umbrella and his lightrapier. His fighting style is rigid to watch but often improvisational in practice. He is a world-class close range combatant, having mastered the arts of Wing Chun, Wushu, and fencing. He can be expected to hold his own against very strong opponents in one-on-one situations, however because he does not wear armor he can be overwhelmed by large groups of enemies at close range. Backstory: Born into the noble Masterson family and raised mostly by his butler, Jarvis is first and foremost a gentleman. His father a diplomat and his mother away often, he takes more after the butler, Jeremy, than anyone else. Because of this, at a young age he learned the Masterson family's greatest secret: that the business his family's fortune was built on was personal protection. The war-torn world had been kind to those who were able to adapt, especially with the abundance of political killings that conflicts like this tended to involve. The Masterson butlers were quite often the most prominent students of the Masterson Academy, boasting intense martial arts training and years of experience in the field. As such, being raised by Jeremy was not easy for a child. Daily training sessions with his masters and a rigid schooling schedule left little time for young Jarvis to make friends, especially given his fathers strict instructions to Jeremy that no one outside the Masterson Family (butlers included) be permitted in the estate while he was away. As he grew older he decided that after nearly two decades of being at home, it was time to see the world. He began to travel, finding work as a bodyguard where he could but always remembering where he came from. When he eventually grew homesick and went back to visit, he was informed that Jeremy had left the Masterson family for "personal reasons." Now he is in between jobs, currently traveling in an attempt to track down Jeremy and ask his father figure what had prompted his departure.

Route 2- Russet Ridge- "Onward to Striation City!" Jason nodded, acknowledging that everyone was there before looking up into the sky, checking the Braviary's position. Despite its best efforts, the big bird had failed to dispatch the Trainers moving along the path. He screeched loudly again, beginning another pass at the Amateurs. Jason yelped, said "Run!" again, and was off like a shot up the ridge. As he ran up the path, he recalled seeing the ridge in the distance from the Main Path. After the traverse was the turn into the final stretch, which had a small overhang that covered half of the path. He wasn't sure how yet, but he'd have to find a way to take advantage of that. Otherwise he was a sitting duck for the Flying-type. He rounded the corner, making sure to run close to the wall on his right side. The Braviary swooped in, its talons outstretched and looking for targets for a Sky Drop. Reacting quickly, Jason pressed himself against the wall. He could feel the immense power of the Braviary as it narrowly missed him, continuing along the path in an effort to catch the people who had rounded the corner behind Jason.

Route 2- Russet Ridge- "Onward to Striation City!" As the group hustled their way up the ridge the Braviary swooped low over them, letting out an earsplitting screech of fury at the intruders bumbling their way through the enormous raptor's nest. His shadow grew larger with every passing moment as he scoped out what appeared to be a small group of aggressors in his territory. His presence in the area was palpable even on the ground, the powerful strokes of his wings creating gusts strong enough to dislodge small rocks from their places on the path. Jason led the Amateur Trainers onward, having used his initial burst of speed to overtake the rest of them. Brendan was behind him, followed by Alecks and Alice, then Jack, and finally Mio on the tail end. Pebbles, gravel, and other small debris shot off either the steep incline to the Trainers' right as they stepped hard on the stone path, desperate to outrun what could only be described as a flying, feathered monstrosity. The Braviary passed overhead and looped around, beginning to fly directly at them. Fortunately, the group reached the turn in the path. They took the corner at a skid, making the one hundred and eighty degree turn seem to take ages as they balanced precariously on the narrow path. They started moving upward once more, still at a sprint. Over their shoulders came an angry screech. The Amateurs instinctively covered their heads and kept running, but not before disaster struck. The Braviary's wing began to glow a bright white before changing into a steel-gray. It dug the tip of its wing into the path, shearing off a large portion of it and causing it to go tumbling down the side of the mountain. The overhang over the Rufflet nest prevented them from being injured. Jason skidded to a stop, holding out his arms to keep the others from moving forward. He looked backward and gulped, leaning to allow the others to see what had happened. There was now a roughly ten foot wide gap in the path that gave way to the steep incline below- a nasty and deadly drop, to be sure. Additionally, the ledge on the other side followed the slight upward incline, putting it at waist level for the Amateurs. Wheeling back around, the Braviary gave a triumphant cry and began to circle overhead, deciding which intruder might make the most interesting splatter mark on the ground below. Jason looked back toward the others, a lump in his throat. This is it, he realized. This is what separates a Trainer from just some dude with a Pokemon. The drive to overcome obstacles and continue onward, despite the risks and despite my own fears. He took a step back, prompting a curious glance from Brendan. "This is it!" he shouted, trying to pump himself up. "Come on!" With that, he sprang forward, digging his feet into the stone to get as much purchase as possible. His feet pounded against the path as he approached the gap, the lump in his throat rising as he tucked his head and picked up as much speed as possible. He looked up, the only thing in his vision the ledge on the other side. Finally, he reached the ledge. His legs tensed for a moment, then released as he leaped into the air. "HOOOLLLLLYYYYY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!" he screamed as he flew through the air, his arms and legs flailing as he sped across the gap, seeming to hang in the air for a century. His scream was cut short by a muffled "Oof!" as his stomach impacted the ledge and his hands scrambled for anything to grab onto, his legs swinging in the open air. He began to slide downward, scrabbling frantically for a handhold as he fell further off the ledge. Finally, he felt a crack in the path deep enough to dig his fingers into. He did so and, with a mighty effort and a loud grunt, braced his feet against the sheer rock wall and climbed his way up. He pulled himself over the ledge, breathing heavily after the ordeal. He got up and stepped away from the ledge, looking back across toward the others. "It's really not that bad if you try not to think about dying!" he offered the rest of the group, grasping his left hand with his right to stop them both from shaking. "If you can make it to the ledge, I can pull you up!"

Poppy- Being Psychically Berated Poppy pouted, rolling her eyes at the Kadabra who seemed to think she was slow. "You know, if I were concerned with your opinion I would ask for it. If you want to call me names instead of waiting for an apology that's just a-okay by me, but don't expect me to react pleasantly to your injured ego," she said calmly. "I may be younger than you, but in this day I frankly don't think age means a damned thing. Every person is needed to help against the Shadows, Mr. Self-Righteous. So what's it going to be? Are you going to help me tend to the wounded, or are you just going to stand here acting like a bruised shin means more than some of the more serious injuries here?" After her tirade, her expression softened a bit. "I'm sorry, but I was only responding in kind. I was serious about the help, though. I could definitely use it."- 98 replies

Route 2- Russet Ridge- "Onward to Striation City!" Not noticing that Mio had stopped or why, Alecks, Alice, and Jack walked right by him. As they progressed up the path, one of the oblivious Amateur Trainers stepped on a branch, snapping it in half. Suddenly, the squawking and chirping stopped. There was a moment of deafening silence, the pause seeming to last for hours. Then, a cacophony of panicked cries erupted from the nests. As if things couldn't have been any worse, a Pokemon fell from one of the nests directly in front of Jack. It resembled an eagle chick wearing a bushy white headdress. It landed on its head with a comical thump before bursting into tears, its despaired cries echoing off the mountainside. Jason opened his mouth to say something, but he was cut off by an earsplitting screech. It came not from the mountainside, but from the sky over Route 2. Jason looked up, his mouth agape. Soaring directly for the ridge at high speeds was an enormous brown bird Pokemon. Its distinctive white headdress would have been recognizable anywhere. Considering it was a Braviary, a Pokemon reputed for its foul temper and incredible strength, Jason's reaction was easy to explain. "Fuck!" he swore, no longer caring how loud he was. "Run!" he shouted to the Trainers in front of him, pushing off the stone and sprinting for the top of the traverse. Brendan followed hot on his heels, eager to escape the wrath of an angry mama bird.

Poppy A small green blur shot down from the main stairs of the Sky Pillar, her small form huffing and puffing with strain as she made rapidly for the gate. She leaped over a cart full of cabbages, knocking it over and continuing toward her destination with a hurried apology. All the merchant Hypno could do in response was to wail plaintively, "My cabbages!" in his frustration before touching his hand to his head and levitating the vegetables back into his cart via telekinesis. He's back! He's back! the Chikorita thought to herself as she approached the gate. However, when she got their she was met not with the three centuries that had left, but a mere smattering of the force that once was. In a panic, she rushed among the survivors, looking for her friend's trademark red and gray markings. Finally she found him, letting out a gasp of shock. On the back of an old, weathered Torterra lay Epee, a Bisharp and the first friend the Chikorita had made at the Sky Pillar. "Epee!" she shouted as she got near, jumping up onto the Torterra's back. But her friend was wounded, breathing heavily. All he could muster was a faint, "Poppy? Is that you?" before she nuzzled his head affectionately. "Hang in there, Epee. I'll fix you up. Won't be the first time or the last," she promised. The leaf on her head began to glow pink, emitting a golden aura that wisped gently down and enveloped the Pawniard. His wounds began to fade as the light bathed him, disappearing from his skin as a puddle in the sun. When the leaf stopped its light show, Epee blinked twice and sat up, appraising his savior. "You just keep getting stronger don't you, little one?" he asked. "Thank you," he said, smiling sadly. "But there are other Pokemon here who need your help more than I do," he continued as he gestured toward he remaining forces with a bladed arm. "We can talk later. Go aid the others," he finished. Poppy nodded and nuzzled the Bisharp once more before moving among the mass of wounded, seeing other healers doing the same (as was customary on the return of an expedition). As she passed wounded soldiers she tended to them. Some were worse off then others, but it seemed as though the journey had killed the most heavily injured of the party.- 98 replies
