  1. I wanted to create an potential Pokemon Masters character for Oscar (my OC/avatar) and CHRIST! I've never realized how many Passives are there! Some of them aren't even used...

Still, at least it's gonna be interesting to figure out what moves, stats, passives, grids, etc. to give in order to make the unit viable and not broken at the same time.

If there's a PM expert here, they are allowed to help me if they want to.

  2. I was checking Reborn Wiki for my little "project" and...

Cass, if you see this, I just wanna say... "You rock! 🤟"

    Spoiler

In the Meloetta Quest, you have a mandatory fight against Cass - one of the few times you fight a dev outside of Dev Room.

And her teams (which are 3-on-3) differ on... whether you pet Lumi's Glaceon in Glass Workstation or not. Which might be one of the least expected ways for split. But it makes... a HUGE difference.

If you pet Lumi's Glaceon (which I did in my playthrough; whenever I have the opportunity, I pet cute Pokemon; Glaceon's very cute, all Eeveelutions are - if I could, I would have all of them + Eevee as pets irl), she'll have A-Ninetales, Cinccino and Mega Gardevoir. Pretty solid and standard-fare team, right?

But, if you don't pet Glaceon at least once... Cass will throw at you U-Turning Special Sweeper Naganadel, Dusk Wings Necrozma with Ultranecrozium Z, and Choice Band Rayquaza with Dragon Ascent... oh my god! (at least they didn't have PULSE2...)

Who would've expect that a simple gesture could change one event from doable... to pure agony. That's why I LOVE Reborn - EVERY decision matters. Even the smallest ones. I can't wait for Rejuvenation's V14 when you'll be given the question "Do you prefer Pepsi or Coca-Cola?" and depending on what you pick, someone will battle you with either decently strong team... or Dimensional Rift Ferrothorn, Angel of Death Gardevoir, Dufaux and Puppet Master in 4-on-4 Double Battle on Dimensional Field.

I saw that on YouTube and it still amazes me. Glad that I pet Glaceon before, so I'm spared from the Cass horror😂👍🏼

I mean who wouldn't pet such cutie pie? :3

      Spoiler

F for everyone who didn't pet the Glaceon...

      OmegaStellarSolare

Plus you get 1 relationship point with Lumi if you do pet Glaceon.

  3. I'll say that in advance.

Happy Easter Day, y'all. Be strong, be healthy, be nice, be... yourselves.

And may Lord Arceus assist you in the final battle - as, in a next few days, everything will finally resolve, and I hope, to our benefit.

As for me, I'm gonna disappear for a week or so. First a family gatherings, then hunting Luvdicses, as somehow, don't have many Heart Scales, exams on college, and connecting all loose ends in Reborn Region.

    But by then, sayonara~

    1. Dark Legend

      Dark Legend

Good luck. Also, when you're back, we have things to discuss about your universe. Because something in Elgor.

  4. I'm a type of guy who always tries to cover up all "plot holes" that I've done - so no one can do the "Oscarus forgot" compilation.

But there was one I couldn't fix... until recently. That was the relationship between Oscar (OC) and Cynthia which is, um, ...untypical. You'll see.

Oscar (despite it never being shown as of right now) seems to have some kind of dislike toward Sinnoh Grand Champion for no apparent reason, despite her never doing anything to upset Battle Emperor...mostly.

In fact, Cynthia has nothing to say about him but compliments and respectful comments (which despite not being canon, it matches her character, at least from the anime). One could say that their battle during certain World Coronation Series where Oscar's Tyranitar (Mega) destroyed Cynthia's team 6-0, could offend him as he was expecting "challenge", but that's not the case - if he wanted challenge, he should give her a chance to shine, and not boost, tear and kill everything on its way.

Up until today, I had no in-lore reason for my character to be in a cold relationship with perhaps the most beloved canon Champion. The off-universe reason is, as it was just mentioned, Cynthia being "the most beloved canon Champion". But it may not be as apparent as it seems. For you to understand, you have to know this: I HATE overrated things! And not "overrated" as in just loved or having some sort of special attention from the creators, because for example Lucario and Charizard are overrated in that way, but I still like them (maybe the personal attachment plays the role). I mean "overrated" as in: fandom bitchin' on how they are "awesome" and ascending to the position so high that others don't matter anymore and are thrown into obscurity, despite them being weak, pathetic, insignificant, or simply being a subject of blatant lie.

Like "Oh, Bidoof is the true god of Pokemon, Arceus who?" or "Greninja is da best, and every1 who don't agree is stoopid" or... too many to count. That is not only about Pokemon fandom, but every damn fandom on this planet - without any exceptions. Although I admit there are some of these that I like and accept... but those have much lore and twists inside them that them actually make me smile, like "The Mythology of Lord Helix" - Twitch Plays Pokemon, from some dumb multi-multi-multi pseudo co-op game, has created an actual history, with characters, plot, legends, timelines, and it was so addicting that I'm loving that kind of creativity.

But Cynthia? Just because she was a bit more difficult than the other Champions from mainline games, she's suddenly above all else, simply the best and the others are forgettable? Th'fuck?! She wasn't even a challenge for me!

...I mean, she DID defeat me on my first attempt in Platinium, but then my strongest Pokemon was Empoleon on level 53, and the other a bit lower. I did get to Cynthia with a team of level 50-53, without using Revives in battles (only a few Full Restores on Lucian, but he was doing the same thing), no X Items - which I was declaring them to be useless for true Pokemon Trainer - and no real EV/IV training or cherry-picking Pokemon.  I was way better than I expected, wow.

Of course, after a bit of grinding, I have defeated her with level 57 Houndoom (which knew Sunny Day and Solar Beam, which make it singlehandedly defeat Milotic even after being quite damaged from Spiritomb) and lv 58 Garchomp which haven't missed a single Dragon Rush in the battle, while Cynthia's Garchomp couldn't connect one before fainting. I don't know why they claim it to be that difficult - I've even played Diamond version to check if that Cynthia was tougher but nope; underleveled Torterra and Garchomp were more than enough.

She also forces us, a not-teenage-yet child, to go into the place which might kill you if you do one step in the wrong direction, just to hunt some depressed young adult who would be simply teared apart of separated from everything else by Giratina.

A very responsible behavior, Cynthia. And fandom laughed at Leon for being "not-Champion", despite the fact that most of the plot he had spent doing His. Damn. Job!

Also, some "s-words" have declared her "Greatest Dragon Master" despite the fact... that at the time of that declaration... she had a grand total of 1 DRAGON! JUST ONE!!! Which pains me, as a Dragon Tamer from Day 1, that she is apparently more Dragon than Lance - the walking definition of Dragon Master; who uses both Dragon-type and Dragon-like Pokemon - Clair, Iris, Drayden, or even Nobunaga, who had in possession two Legendary Dragon-types and was the ruler of the Dragnor - a place where multiload of dragons were living. The only reason she's so popular is because others-... ...I know I have pushed the boundaries too much, and may get a warning, so I won't make my situation worse, and just say that she's way too popular for reasons other than character or history. Those reasons are more... visible, and psyhical

I... shouldn't be so strict and rough, but I simply want you to understand, since I do have problems with "sending messages" to others.

To the point - the off-universe reason for Oscar disliking Cynthia is my hate toward fandom for gloryfing her beyond human understanding. But... that cannot be put into lore, that would make no sense, and create a plot hole I wish to erase. And then, during Math sessions on the academy, while I was waiting for the rest to do their exercises I'd done far before them, it clicked. I was reminded of one fact - Oscar, just like Cynthia, is an expect in mythology and history of the world. It has been also said, many times, Oscar wishes to eradicate evil and bring peace, even using the most extreme methods. Do you know who was evil, wishing to create a new, "perfect" universe, destroying the old one, and is mentioned in the legends and myths?

    Spoiler

Volo! The man who can be described as "genderswap and character-flip Cynthia". Despite no actual connection being made, their resemblance is too striking for them not to be related. And everyone who finished main plot of Legends: Arceus, knows what he had tried to do.

Oscar could read about that in one of the older books - as I presume Akari/Rei would spread the news after some time or write it down themselves, and quickly notice the resemblance. Despite the fact he rarely uses it to full potential, Oscar is incredibly intelligent, and if given just a few clues, he could connect them, if there was any connection at all.

Yet all of that is hidden behind facade of heavy-handed leader, (once) undefeated Trainer, and intimidating individual. But he's way too "imperfect" to be classified as "Mary Sue-type of character"

That could make him start to believe Cynthia might try to do the same, and began to distance himself from her, still keeping a keen eye and preparing in case of a sudden shift.

Is it paranoid? Definitely yes, no excuses. But at least there are no visible plot holes~

Was this mumble necessary...?   I cannot tell. I'll delete this if asked by admins, but not in a next several hours, as I will be... busy.

  5. I'm asking, because I have analyzed and created new team - which is created to counter any anti-Trick Room leads, especially fast Taunts or Fake Outs

    EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD

    Togekiss (F) @ Iapapa Berry

    EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD

    Sassy Nature

    IVs: 30 HP / 1 Atk / 30 SpA / 1 Spe

    - Ice Beam

    - Scald

    - Hidden Power [Grass]

    - Protect

    Cresselia (F) @ Mental Herb

    Ability: Levitate

    EVs: 252 HP / 164 Def / 92 SpD

    Sassy Nature

    IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe

    - Trick Room

    - Psychic

    - Moonlight

    - Helping Hand

    Tyranitar (M) @ Weakness Policy

    Ability: Sand Stream

    EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD

    Brave Nature

    IVs: 0 Spe

    - Rock Slide

    - Protect

    - Brick Break

    - Fire Punch

Mega Camerupt and Tyranitar - the most reliable members - are without any major changes; Tyranitar has different offensive moveset, but that is it. I do consider giving Camerupt Protect, to "summon" Water attacks and bait them to hitting either resistant Milotic, or Weakness Policy Tyranitar, but as of right now it doesn't seem necessary.

For Milotic I replaced Dragon Pulse with Hidden Power Grass, to deal with other bulky Water types which would wall it. I've experienced it before; in one battle there was Milotic vs Milotic at the very end... and it was ultra long.

For other Pokemon... Porygon2 and Dusclops stopped being reliable; especially when opponent had Taunt. For that I wanted to introduce replacements for them: Cresselia and Stakataka

    Spoiler

I know I've replaced Stakataka for being unreliable, but now I have better strategies

I am aware that Cresselia basically screams "Trick Room team"... but so does Dusclops. And that Legendary Pokemon is bulkier than even Evolite Dusclops, thanks to Base HP which is 3 times bigger!

One could say that it isn't THAT better, because it's also weak to Knock Off, and vulnerable to Taunt, while not being immune to Fake Out. Well, I have the solution for two of the three:

    • Fake Out is very hard to counter if not a Ghost, but if the opponent aims at the offensive Pokemon, it should be fine
    • Knock Off is boosted only once; without item it isn't as strong, even if used by Max Atk Incineroar
    • Taunt can be repelled with Mental Herb; one-use item which nivelates the effect of moves like Taunt, Disable, Encore, Torment, etc.  If Cresselia isn't hit by Knock Off before it is used, it can counter opponent trying to counter my Trick Room setting

Moonlight and Helping Hand (either of them being able to be replaced by Protect) are for utility, and Psychic (eventually Psyshock) to actually do damage in case something goes wrong (taunted AND blocked at once, f.e.)

Stakataka isn't as obvious of a Trick Room setter as Cresselia, so it won't be a target of Taunting. But it might be Fake Out'd... or hit by a x4 Fighting or Ground attack. And since its' IV/EV spread is made to have the Attack be higher than Defense, therefore Beast Boost boosting Attack, it's a bit fragile. Also Trick Room makes impossible to effectively use Assault Vest. But that's where completely new team members joins - Togekiss.

I'll admit, that's a bit odd of a choice, but hear me out. Togekiss is (almost) perfect choice to potentially lead with Stakataka because of one move - Follow Me.

Thanks to +2 priority, it will have most of the attacks to aim at Togekiss, who takes excellently all types which Stakataka's weak to - it's immune to Ground, double resistant to Fighting, and only neutral to Water, which if they aim at it, I can switch Togekiss to Milotic or Tyranitar. The only attacks that won't redirect are those with higher priority (only Fake Out), those with the same but on faster Pokemon (First Impression, Extreme Speed, Faint; all uncommon in Doubles) or specific ones: Doom Desire or Future Sight. So I think it's fine to have those.

Alongside it, spread moves of Dazzling Gleam and Heat Wave, plus STAB Air Slash with 60% chance to flinch and Iapapa Berry (or Sitrus) to heal the bulky Togekiss.

And Stakataka gets Steelium Z... because I don't have any better item on it, except Chople/Shuca Berry (which are too much of a roulette to use), or Life Orb.

I'll see if I made good choices

    1. Dark Legend

      Dark Legend

Maybe Life Orb would be better than Steelium Z...?

    2. Oscarus

      Oscarus

      I do wonder about it

      We'll see later

  6. I'm baaaaack~

If there was a possibility to send it voicelines, I would sing for you. But there's none, so sorry. I cannot sing anyways.

I am proud to announce that I have completed main story of Pokemon Reborn (and just main story, I haven't touched post-game yet)

I'm actually suprised it has taken me so little time; even when I was "speedruning" (reading only story dialogues and important character's adds) - maybe because I was already prepared with everything. Or because I had quite good strategies

    Spoiler

Trick Room teams are REALLY busted

    Thanks a lot, Radomus

Anyways, I'll be sharing my thoughts about V19 with you. Oh, to say it beforehand: DON'T click "Spoiler" labels if you haven't played through the main game yet nor do you not know anything about V19 yet. Just don't complain that I haven't warned you.

Everything here is from Reshiram Route. So if you know alternative events from Zekrom Route, feel free to write it to me (just label it with "Spoiler" so others won't see those if unwanted).

    Spoiler

In one sentence... what the fuck?

It was so metal! So edgy! So... wow. But... step by step.

Beginning was... awkward. Like: Bennett, Laura and Saphira; Zero, Eve and Lumi; Cal and Victoria... We had to cooperate, though many didn't want to. Fortunately, it all went well (if I was there, I would just yell and order them to obey... if things went out of control; otherwise persuasion'd be enough)

I actually wanted ask "Why Radomus had dressed like Sir Aaron from 8th Movie?"... but it's Radomus, so questioning wouldn't make any sense.

Despite... quite long pause, for additional preparations and such, we could raid Labradorra.

And~ troubles right through the start - by Kenan, ofc. I've won first try... but with a lot of luck; it was just my Tyranitar and his Machamp... and we perfectly know how could that end. Fortunately, it didn't go for Bullet Punch, so thanks to Dragon Dances, I defeated it with Crit Earthquake.

But, in all honesty, more difficult were Double Battles... as my Trick Room strategy was more detrimental than helpful, for my allies. Fortunately, my Sandstorm team was much more helpful and cooperating with them. Still, the fact that some Grunts of all people were kicking my ass... I've had a bad feeling about this.

After backup has arrived to fight Lin, Victoria and I entered one building, and after the battle, my heart... has stopped for a second. Blood... bones... static, on a table... "pale", as I thought...

I... I have geniuenly thought that Solaris-

He had lost an eye, and might had suffered brain damage, but was seemingly all right. And I still think it was Lin to do it; or at least assist; because I question Sirius being strong enough to defeat him 1vs1 - despite what levels say; there are no levels in-universe, after all.

Good that Cal had stopped Victoria - while I do understand her wanting Solaris' head (I, once, had wanted this as well), Cal was right... doing so, Vic would be no better than the one she despises above all. And Kiki would be very disappointed as well, I assume, as I question her going the path of revenge.

Then... Sigmund hiding and running away? I was seriously thinking about what, or who, would cause him to be terrified - Saphira, Lin... or something else?

Oh, and major plus for Bennett calling Solaris "Elias' boyfriend" - one of the few moment to cause me wheeze in the middle of the night. Speaking of Elias, and his 'family'... will we get a chance to free those locked in the Void (Cain, Luna, Samson/Ciel, and more)? Because... I want to free all of them, you know. And reunite with others...

Now, quick question - are Nomos and Shade one? I mean... Like Nostra is Jirachi (which is later confirmed), is Shade's soul connected to doll? Or is Nomos their body? There is definitely a connection between the two, as we see when Nomos/Shade save us, Noel and Radomus from PULSE Clawitzer. That "bond" would explain connections between Shade and Anna.

Speaking about PULSE Clawitzer... actually, no, I'll say it in the part about Major Battles.

Also "R.I.P." for Zero. From Admin... to mere Grunt. Not Ace, not even Knight... just Grunt. That must've hurt. At least he has Lumi, and Eve.

Also, I don't know why I was laughing at Sigmund being protected by Serra and Cal while Saphira had wanted to tear his throat apart.

But that wasn't given to her because... because...

    ...

    .......

Who did that? Lin...? Or that "absolutely off the mark" PULSE Mr. Mime? And who had designed it? On what drugs had you been, devs?

True, Sigmund wasn't the nicest... But he DIDN'T deserve that! Like-... TH'FUCK?!

We have reached Edge Rising's level of edginess, ladies and gentlemen. @Evi Crystal, my condolences...

And obviously Saphira wouldn't take that message kindly.

After that... perhaps my personal favorite. ¡«T0urn@ment 0f B00t¥»!

Exciting fights, getting to know more about other characters, pure randomness, and of course Terra!

I know writing her dialogue can cause a stroke, but curse me if the effect wasn't awesome. Those random sounds, her either completely-off-the-mark or extremely-accurate description (like naming Victoria "more roadblocking than Snorlax" or while Eve declaring that there were 17 people, she said: "THERE'S 16 OF YA... cuz zero doesn't count" - that was... GODDAMMIT TERRA), the style of speech and puns of various sorts. Even roasting us to 3rd degree (my personal favorite was when she used "Google Translate-ish" voice while describing Florinia - pure GOLD).

Those were fun, but then while facing Saphira and her... rather unfair "puzzle", I could FINALLY get my final Badge.

    ...it was anticlimactic...

More on that in other post.

Then... Man, I haven't expected that rollercoaster of emotions (neither that "no fonts" battle which actually forced me to use Revives {even through I promised not to use them} because I have made some... really stupid mistakes; plus I hate Glitch Field)

Still... I wonder if what Terra has said about Florinia was another mind game... or her honest emotions.

I bet the latter, as the manner of speech was... very normal. And actually hitting Rini personally...

Were Terra and Florinia accustomed at any point? Because both are geniuses in technological advances, and it seems both knew each other, like... when Terra said "You used to laugh a lot..." or something like that...

Crap, my heart... I hope I won't experience any of those-

sees Solaris in front of Victory Road

    :|

    rly?

For a moment, hearing him, I was genuinely terrified - especially when he sent Garchomp, and his theme sounded... my PTSD activated immedia

But I quickly realized... "we" weren't the target, but Lin (who somehow was behind us). He later confirms it ("...even those within Team itself").

That was so intense, that I've actually forgotten that... well...

Anyways, I don't know why, but for a moment when we regained concussioness, I thought that Solaris had won, as there was no blood on the battlefield.

    ...but...it was...several feet away...

And Solaris... Solaris had most likely been thrown and slided his face through stone...

When I saw that Cultist with Sylveon trying to save him... f-for a moment through t-that he.... he might.......

    .....................

and i needed yet another emotional break (but i wasn't crying this time; just manly salute)

Reborn Region's Victory Road is larger that 10 year old me's stomach.

Going through it took me literal hours. But I'm not complaining: because I love that puzzles with adjusting Crystals. Since elementary school, I've loved Einstein's Riddles, so those weren't as difficult for me as for others.

The Minecarts puzzles were arduous, but doable.

Seeking Crystal Stars was definitely the hardest one - I actually had to look for solutions after I couldn't find the last 2.

And about the remaining Meteor Executives... meh.

At least Blake was funny. Asshole, but funny asshole; a type of friend many would like to have. Unlike that degenerate Fern...

DID YOU SERIOUSLY THINK THAT AFTER STEALING MY BADGES YOU WOULD JUST WALK INTO THE LEAGUE LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED?! REMINDER: BOTH ELIAS AND BENNETT ARE IN THE LEAGUE, AND THEY WOULDN'T ALLOW YOU TO PARTICIPATE, AS THEY KNOW YOU, FUCKER! ALSO WHAT YOUR PUNY GRASSY TYPES COULD DO AGAINST HEATHER, HUH?! LITTLE SPOILER - NOTHING! NOTHING, YOU'D LOSE AT THE VERY START! AS YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A SMALL, PATHETIC, STINKY! LYING, MOTHERFUCKIN' LOSER!!!

phew...i've finally gotten this off my chest

    Anyways, Elite Four...

After being dealt with the bullshit of full teams of PULSE2, I expected those battles to be a breeze. The first two, mostly yes.

But the deeper I was going, the harder it got. I've defeated all 5 of them first try (but not without some Pokemon fainting in the process)

And then... the moment of truth. I was about to avenge my fallen comrades, to protect the region and friends, to save the world... from the humanoid entity known as "Lin"...

And right off the bat she flexes on me that not only has she stolen Pokemon, but also themes; during the battle, there was Solaris' Battle Theme playing, not other but his. I get that dead don't need those... but that was too much.

The battle was... difficult - I believe all of them did have PULSE2. Me playing on Set didn't help either.

But Trick Room was the right call as EVERY Pokemon on her team was fast; so Trick Room heavily countered her. However... I quickly noticed something - that was a battle... on Neutral Field. Not the New World. Also despite being Dragon specialist, she has had 3 Psychic types and 3 Fairy types, with only 1 actual Dragon. And fandom laughs at Lance for his "Dragon speciality", smh.

Also... The fact that I was on her 5th Pokemon (in my case, that was , and I haven't seen neither Hydreigon nor Arceus was... worrying. And when I saw PULSE Abra... I IMMEDIATELY realized there will be Round 2.

And I wasn't wrong - teleported to Grand Stairway, succed into the Citadel, and forced to catch Lin, reaching the top, and enter "New World"

This battle... has given me a appreciation for Trick Room. Really - I think I'm gonna use it in competitive now instead of Sandstorm Spread combo. Which is reasonably effective, but VERY VULNERABLE to most kinds of cheesing, like Guard Split Shuckle-Chansey combo.

Because most of her Pokemon were immune to speed drop - either because they were Flying-types, or had Levitate. And those who didn't, were bulky... very bulky. And then we have that fucking Celeesteela which is both! I HATE ULTRA BEASTS!!!

Also, shoutout to whoever had created Arc-PULSE sprite and type-changing animation because it... looks... dope!

Battles was very challenging, but first try. Only because I had Trick Room, Full Restores, and sheer dumb luck with Arceus.

    And, um... Can. you...

Can someone explain the meaning of the ending? After the battle?

When I've defeated her, it was, like, 3 A.M. in Poland, so I just skimmed through, save the game and close it.

And now I can't remember what did exactly happen after the battle.

Was it true Lin to laugh at me, wanting to play and such... or someone else...?

Man, I need to remember: do not play any cryptic games during night.

If you wanna say something about it, DON'T FORGET about putting this in Spoiler part.

Because... That'd be a shame if someone had accidentally spoiled themselves something just because someone was careless, agreed?

    1. Dark Legend

      Dark Legend

Now that you're back, can I send you a personal message to discuss how are regions (Sacroc and North/South Elgor are connected? This is something I need to know.

    3. Dark Legend
  7. I'm planning to participate in the newly created Polish "Pokemon Online League" of sorts based on Radical Red game and on Showdown. And the stakes are high, as there's a chance that the best might join the now-forming Elite Four (or Elite... I don't know how many - as of right now there is Elite Two).

I've been playing on Showdown for a few days to sharpen my skills and to test new strategies and... yeah... OU and National Dex of Gens 7 and 8 aren't very "friendly" to me - except like, literally, 2, 3, maybe 4 players; all the others had at least 3 Legendaries/Mythicals/Ultra Beasts at their disposal, which is a huge problem because:

    1. That Pokemon League bans the usage of all Legendary and Legendary-like Pokemon (you can only use normal ones + Radical Red exclusives)
    2. Many of those Legendaries are so unique that I can't find any equivalent of them in standard fare
    3. Many of the Legends are broken and can hard-counter my strategies if I make ONE wrong mistake (and it doesn't have to be a mistake; just wrong lead Pokemon is enough). Trust me, not even Surging Strikes Floatzel is on their level.

And, yes, Doubles DO exist, but almost all battles are in Singles; and I've seen Gym Leaders and challengers use rather weird yet effective strategies, like end-game Special Sweeper Meganium.

UU tier and lower could solve the Legends problem... but many of the Pokemon I wish to use are in OU (or even Ubers; but still legal there), and that screws things up, in my opinion.

Eventually, I might just go YOLO there and test my luck and experience.

...welp...i'll contact ya if I finish it.

  8. I'm so ashamed of not realizing that up until now!

Gen 9 will introduce the first region with TWO primary professors. Of course, there were regions with more professors (Unova had Aurea, Cedric and Fennel; Alola had Kukui, Burnet and Samson; and Galar had Magnolia, Sonia and Hop {to some degree}). But only 1 of them was the main one, while the new one will have two.

We don't know if they will be version-exclusive or be in the same game but one of them is going to be our mentor and the other not, but we know that their names are Sada and Turo.

And only now have I realized that their names come from Spanish words "pasada" and "futuro", which mean "past" and "future" respectively, with the first one being used in "feminine" form and the other in "masculine", since in Spanish nouns (and adjectives) have two forms, if they can refer to either masculine or feminine objects. And that matches well since Sada is a beautiful, wild female, and Turo is a hot, chad man.

Still... I feel stupid for not realizing that despite being learnt Spanish for 6 whole years!

  9. I've barely returned from an entire day in the university... And somehow I'd become an inspiration and assistance of this forums' a few veterans?

...Am I really that charismatic? Or it's something else? I can't really put my finger on it.

Oh, I've been part of that for a long time. I've been "Pan" for years. But also, its just the idea of making your own mainstream game. Plus, making your own Pokemon is really fun. I've wanted to do this for a while.

    3. Oscarus

      Oscarus

It really is. To create characters, Pokemon, storyline, everything...

Unfortunately, I do have trouble with the "Pokemon", as while creating humans and very humanoid is no hard challenge, creating other creatures is. For me, personally. Maybe a lack of experience, maybe no inspirations (I do have some, but not many)...

Anyways, while it is fun to create, it's no easy task

    4. Dark Legend

      Dark Legend

True, very true. Especially the names...

  10. I've decided to have some fun... And did a monotype team for Gen 8 National Dex OU on Showdown.

For now, I can proudly say that I have an 9-1 record, with 7 first fights won.

For the record, I do count fortifying as lost (both in opponent's, and mine, case). But all those surrendering came because of a domination, and they quit.

    What monotype, you ask...?

    Try to guess.

      Yes. It's MonoWater; Rain team

      I'm Savage 2.0!

      Yes, I guessed right! 😃

  11. I've finished Pokemon Masters' Main Story on Hard Mode. Basically after completing the Normal Mode, I "spedrun" through Hard Mode... Well, not quite as I didn't use my strongest Trainers, but those with whom I have won the PML Championship (and went through the entire tournament): Partner Pikachu, Professor Oak and Lisia.

...but to be honest, I didn't complete ALL Hard Mode battles with them, as, well... they were just lv 100, with absolutely no investment whatsoever (only after completing Hard Mode I did realize I could get Pikachu and Mew to 5/5 Sync Level...oops). But I did all but one - the final battle of the Story Mode; in it I used SS Blue, SS Leaf and SS Red - my strongest squad as of right now. It was an overkill, however, as they were lv 120, with minimal Grid investment.

The story itself was great, especially Lear's development; realizing that even the mightiest might need friends and bonds to overcome the hardest challenges. Also, I love how he didn't do the complete 180 of his character, and still was an ass sometimes

    Spoiler

Especially when, at the award ceremony, he was bickering how we have 'postponed' his coronation due to the defeating him in the semifinals - it was golden XD

Honestly... I kinda want to write an fanfic about Pokemon Masters story: with a bit changed plot, protagonist (Scottie) actually being a bit more talkable, and adding on a perspective of other teams - seeing how they meet, train, etc. (I mean they DO show that up in the game, but I want to show MORE of it!). Ah, and of course, more anime-like battles! Because while they are more anime than in the games with mainline mechanics, I wanna have the teams use a truly unique strategies, impossible to do in the games due to limitations (like, maybe covering the battlefield with smoke, and attacking from it, or having one member of the team to serve as a shield, and protect the more offensive allies).

But... I say that, but I probably won't do it because I'm either working, loafing around, having art block, or sleeping. So.... yeah, another fanfiction which I won't do. Add that to the list, alongside with Danganropa, Bakugan, One Punch Man, Future Diary, Saw, Swords and Sandals, and... even more.

  12. I've just went through DLC 4 of Pokemon Xenoverse, and it (alongside V19 of Reborn and V13 of Rejuvenation) got me thinking...

And now I feel... dissatisfaction. I'm not depressed or anything, but a bit sad, seeing how creative many, many creators are able to produce things that can easily be called "masterpieces" (be that designs, characters, stories, music, etc.), that I feel nothing more than an ant, in comparison to those angels.

I might have ideas... But I lack skills to present them to the others. Plus I'm afraid they won't be nearly half as good as what others did. My aspirations for life is to change the world for better, or at least have people being more happy and satisfied with their lives, so they could continue pushing forward without any regrets...

But no matter what I would create, it's gonna pale to what others have done before me. They are masters, and I feel like some damned artist-wannabe who wants to follow their idols.

I'm... not depressed, by any means, but just thinking about it has me feel useless in comparison. It's not like it happened for the first time - it's been happening for years now, but it might be the very first time I openly say about this to other humans (because I can't call those with whom I'm forced to live with 'humans'), as the previous times I was simply complimenting others' work, because I feel obligated to praise the work I adore.

Do you have the same "problems" as me?

    1. Dark Legend

      Dark Legend

Yes, I have tons of ideas, but I'm very lazy.

  13. I've never noticed it before... but seeing how Tyranitar can be dangerous on Glitch Field, it truly comes as a surprise how versatile this Pokemon is.

Why, you ask? Because I have just recently realized, while playing some competitive, how Tyranitar's special bulk might come onto play. But step by step:

    • Tyranitar has 100 Base Special Defense, which equals to a maximum of 328.
    • Thanks to Sand Stream, its' Special Defense is increased by 50%, as a nature of being a Rock type
    • Assault Vest also increases Special Defense by 50%, but wearer can use attacks (which isn't a issue in Tyranitar's case as it don't have any reliable status move that increases Special Defense or such)
    • That makes its' Special Defense (and therefore a Special Attack as well) an astounding 738! For comparison, Mega Mewtwo Y's Special Attack caps at 535, barring any stat changes.
    • Tyranitar also has powerful Special movepool with:
      • Flamethrower/Fire Blast
      • Thunderbolt/Thunder
      • Ice Beam/Blizzard
      • Dragon Claw/Outrage (which are Special on Glitch Field)
      • Surf

Honestly, I've gotta check and try if my theory is true. If yes, then I'm much better battle-designer than I thought I was

I’m thinking if Aerilate works on Crunch in Glitch Field, in Reborn’s case. Then again, you could have used Pokegear for Field notes.

    3. Oscarus

      Oscarus

      N-no... I don't think so.

On Glitch Field, Steel, Dark and Fairy attacks deal Normal-type damage, but they don't become Normal-type, so they aren't affected by "-ate" and "-ize" Abilities except Normalize

    4. OmegaStellarSolare

      OmegaStellarSolare

Thanks for reminding me about that.

  14. I've seen some content from Legends Arceus (because I won't be buying game since I don't have Switch and don't intend to have; but the game is great), and I have only one thing to say...

Now I know from who did Jaern take his egocentric point of view and sense of fashion...

  15. If you wish, I can send that (and other) short stories on Creative Writing forum.

Do say if you want more of my entertaining bullshit or not

  16. In our world, we've had "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton

In Pokemon world, they have "The Champion Killer" Ash Ketchum

    Excellent performance, Ash!

    2 down, 1 to go!

...at least I hope Ash won't be curbstomp'd like Alain and Diantha

  17. Is using the "N-word" in writing racist when you don't have the pass?

Maybe I'll need to expand: by that I mean having some character use "n-word" to other. Theorically you're not the one to use or speak it, but you're writing it. But you're not writing it to real-life person in a real life, but have some fictional character say it to other fictional character. Is that still considered racist?

Well, if the character saying it isn't black-skinned, then that one is racist, but does that make me - the writer - racist?

    Why am I asking it...?

Maybe because I don't want to cause controversy while writing. Obviously, I haven't intended to overuse it, but I still wish to know.

  18. Looking back at it... I'm not really proud of my first "project" here - creating Ame's potential team.

While I've really worked on it, and didn't intent to fuck this up, I had made a grave error: I had mixed the game and anime logic too much. Like... WAY too much.

In short, focusing too much on lore and personality of Ame, both in games and my fanfic (which on its own isn't a bad thing; both can cooperate with each other as there are no major contradictions in neither of them; mainly because Amethyst didn't show much, if anything, of her OC's backstory and daily life), but trying to create a team, which would suit both in games AND anime, and additionally forcing her to have half of her team be in a specific type, when in given type speciality (Dark) there aren't many canon Pokemon which would suit her; the only are Absol and Umbreon (which is both the ace of Luna and Zero, so it wouldn't work out). If I had access to fanmade Pokemon from other games, I could even create a full Dark team which would be perfect this way and that way.

But without it, that team gamewise was... mediocre at best, and lorewise wasn't perfect either.

I've been called out because of that a few times, and I won't be defending myself - I really, really screwed up. And since I'm a perfectionist, I'm gonna repair this mistake asap. So expect in a some time a solid reboot of this project.

    1. Gastronely

      Gastronely

Haha, dude, chill. I heavily relate to the perfectionist argument, but don't beat yourself too much about it! You did it for fun, and everyone has the right to agree or disagree

    2. Oscarus

      Oscarus

I'll be fine. But I need to, being called out many times... Just for peace of mind.

And if next time any meta slave or anything dares to question me-

  19. Man... How I wish to be a part of Pokemon Online League when it was still existing. It looked so fun!

Either as a challenger or as a Gym Leader, doesn't matter - it would love to interact with all the League Representatives and/or fellow challengers, while honing my skills.

I... I do realize that I'd be crushed, pummeled and tenderized by basically anyone back then because I SUCKED back then (my first even Pokemon gameplay; in FireRed; consisted of 4 Flying types, 2 of them being x4 weak to Rock, and movesets like they were taken from Gen 1, like Charizard knowing Flamethrower, Fire Blast and Blast Burn... plus I didn't care about stats of Pokemon, only moves, and back then status moves for me were more than useless)

But now, being much more experienced and seemingly more talented... I think... I could have a chance of getting at least half of the Badges, with a glimpse of defeating Champion, and maybe, JUST MAYBE, becoming Gym Leader myself.

The last part woulda be very fun; like an soccer superstar on giant stadium filled to brim, people would want to see and interact with me, and have a shot at challenging myself.

Of course, it's not about fame or glory, but having the opportunity to meet many new, interesting people and having the chance to become stronger.

Don't worry, I'll be keeping kayfabe alive. I'm not a loose cannon.

    1. Magus

      Magus

The league was really dope, I remember not making it far in my challenge, (had to prepare for boot camp) . Really is sad that it ended

  20. My fresh year in college is basically over. Finally, that was one hell of a ride; an emotional ride, and not necessarily in a good sense.

But now I have over 3 months for myself; I can finally start repairing garages, picking up strawberries, riding bike for hours, and... actually begin learning how to sprite.

I finally want to make some actual progresses for the game, and not just "writing storylines and designing characters in my head". Still, programming and music will be difficult, both for my allies and myself, but I'm not going to drop the project because of minor inconveniences.

But, to be fair, I don't say the game will be completed in a month or a few, even if we started right away and we all knew how to program, sprite, design, and everything. It's gonna take years - Reborn was created by literally hundreds of people in the span of over 10 years.

But, like I said, neither I nor they are going anywhere... maybe in a year or less there will be some demo of the first few chapters~, who knows...

  21. My head is no less than full of ideas.

After doing that 'short' about one of the Postgame Quests, I was thinking about more - not only about Quests and parts of it, but some 'events' after them too, in the "true postgame", or how do you want to call completing all of the main postgame quests.

And lemme tell you, that certain ideas are... truly something else.

I'd love to give you some insight, but I'm afraid... of Amethyst comin' here (and trust me, she DOES go here from time to time), seeing this and wondering: "What in the name of all Vulpix in our world is this man thinking?" because... she, just like all of you, are justified to think that I'm psycho.

Actually, I'd take that as a compliment more, as I don't hear compliments often, and they tend to be the exact same thing said over and over again... which makes the same effect as eating ONLY your favorite food for an entire month for all breakfast, lunch, dinner and sometimes in-between - you'll be fed up with it, and won't touch it for the next month or so.

So, if you think I'm insane, say it; I will even personally thank you for constructed criticism.

And comments are good for algorithms anyways~

  22. My Trick Room team has currently 8-1 record in Gen 7 competitive Doubles meta game on Pokemon Showdown - winning the first 6 matches.

Not even Taunt can do much - even without Trick Room, Dusclops and Porygon2 are too much for opponents to handle at ease. Intimidate users are a fodder to Milotic. Stakataka and Tyranitar can tank even x4 hits, then obliterate with boosted Rock Slides. And Mega Camerupt WILL destroy you if you don't destroy it.

Team is... almost perfect - it does have some holes, but as of right now, I don't see much need of correcting those, as the ways to heavy-counter them are quite 'niche'

    3. Oscarus

      Oscarus

No no. It's just me being... pricky. And a bit salty.

As once - before doing that Trick Room team, I've lost because of a Chansey.

      It Guard Swap'd with Shuckle.

    4. OmegaStellarSolare

      OmegaStellarSolare

Dusclops can have Pain Split move by breeding or by Move tutor.

  23. Nothing... and I mean NOTHING pisses me off more during competitive battles than "strategies" falling under the umbrella of: stalling and wasting time of the opponent

That means: spamming Toxic, Will-o-Wisp, and Protect, constantly switching in and out, using moves like Roar or Whirlwind... Those strategies-  I can't even call them strategies - that's just being annoying. Of course, if only 1 or 2 Pokemon have those, no problem. But if ENTIRE TEAM is built around those strats... then I cannot even name it a strategy - that is being a dick. Especially when you laugh and taunt your opponent on chat

If you're using such strats all the time, then that means you cannot face create true team to fight like equals against others. And if you keep laughing and salting others, then you only support my theory.

The only loss of my new team come because of Toxic-Protect stall with entry hazard (which are rare in Doubles outside of Sticky Web which benefits me more), Roar and Whirlwind to prevent Trick Room and some Taunt, Torment or Encore.

That guy... girl... whatever, had SO MUCH LUCK that they were able to Double-Protect almost every single time, and I think there even was a Triple-Protect which... isn't impossible, there's, like, 1 in 27 chance to do so. But I'm still salty - just like another battle which ENTIRE team was around Perish Trap; which I've barely won... Jesus Christ...

Currently my new team has 8-1 record (first 6 won), and my Trick Room team overall has 29-6 record (which is 82,8% win rate)

    1. Dark Legend

      Dark Legend

Yeah, I don't do battles like this, and this is exactly why. I get enough shit from Reborn.

    2. Oscarus

      Oscarus

No shit. I like competitive... as long as both teams have the chance to win.

I'm not some kind of mastermind like Wolfe Glick or Se Jun Park, so I may be defeated by non-superniche teams.

But that kind of teams wall not only me, but others as well, giving them no chance to do anything or limiting so badly they might as well surrender. Plus there's the factor of RNG, so~...

RNG of status conditions and flinching, not damage factor.

  24. Now I've just realized how little 4 MB of attachments are.

I've send designs of a few characters for my fanmade game to Evi, and that took over a MB. How am I supposed to show her the remaining 50+ without forcing to delete the other ones?

And also why that limit is so low? I get that in order to not trash the place with scraps, they put it, but... 4 MB is so little...

    1. Aphelli

      Aphelli

Actually, 50 MB is well above the usual attachment size limit for email as well (including gmail).

This being said, I agree that 4 MB of storage are easily spent when pictures are involved… and I don’t know why. Maybe something with the company hosting the website (if there’s even one)? I don’t think the terms offer unlimited storage and 4 MB times many thousands of people becomes quite a lot… but that’s still in the range of a single (good) external hard drive, so it shouldn’t be expensive…

For your specific problem, I recommend using more specialized (free) cloud services such as Google Drive or Dropbox. I know that on Google, you get at least 1 GB (maybe 10? I don’t remember) of free storage, which you may organize however you wish – and you can share access to certain folders with other people.
