1. Hi Ice! Chiramii- Cute, but do we really need more mice... Muuna- Yay for a dream eater pokemon, but uh, the design hurts me. Gear- Not horrible. Okay, I think it has potential. Mamepato- Not only does it look like Starly, it's in Honchkrow's signature pose, and based on the same bird as Pidgey. Fail. Hihidaruma- Another one who's design hurts. Shimama- I like this one. I hope it doesn't stay pure Electric though. Meguroko- New type combination, but not a great one... The eyes are weird too. All I can say is that this generation better have some badass evolutions for these guys.
2. New Why: Why is Koga's Gym full of Drowzee, Hypno and Kadabra, when there were about over 9000 poison types to pick from in the first generation?
3. Support capitalism? Thwomped Koga. Trying to remember how to get into Saffron... The Celadon drinks aren't doing it for the guards...
4. The cubone one was called "School of Hard Knocks," and the school was the Pokemon Technical Institute. Sound familiar? Also, everyone cried at the Pikachu episose. If they didn't, they don't have a soul.
5. Gotta say, I'm not huge fan of the starters, and Pokabu makes me want to shred a teddy bear (shreddy bear?) but I do like Zoroark even if it is just another Lucario, and I have no problem with the legendaries. Then again, this is coming from someone who's never seen digimon. Can someone tell me exactly what about them resembles digimon?
6. o no u di'nt~ Rock is -definitely- the easiest, coming from someone who's replayed starting with every kind of deck, a few different times. Grass is pretty easy, especially if you have the Charmander deck, but with her Squirtle deck, that's probably not the easiest to go next. I say Fighting because it's not -difficult- sans having to know where to look for his underlings, and it'll give her more Fighting Energy which she can add to her deck and ultimately use to take on the Electric Club, which would be her type's greatest challenge. Meanwhile, caught myself a Staryu, so along with Exeggute I'm training up to speed Starmie too. 99 trainers to kill on this route, 99 trainers to kill... Give one a shout, beat him in a shut-out, 98 trainers to kill on this route...
7. Two badges later, and the team is coming along swimmingly. Getting ready to take on Koga, who really should be a breeze, but the problem lies in wading through the 9000+ trainers that lurk between Celadon/Lavender and Fuscia. Ugggghhh. Kadabra- Psykiller- Level 38- Psychic/Psybeam/Shockwave/Recover Hypno- Trance- Level 39- Psychic/Headbutt/Hypnosis/Disable Mr. Mime- Barrien- Level 39- Psybeam/Magical Leaf/Reflect/Substitute Jynx- Callinda- Level 38- Ice Punch/Water Pulse/Double Slap/Sweet Kiss Exeggcute- Mirage- Level 29- Leech Seed/Substitute/Stun Spore/Confusion
8. Bad move, Lara. The Fire Club leader won't face you until you have so many cards. If I remember correctly, it should be about the time you have three or four medals. Rock is definitely the way to start, but you're probably best off moving to Science or Fighting next. In LeafGreen, I got a couple more HMs, and started training up a freshly caught Exeggcute. I've decided to run to a SubSeed set on it, but I haven't decided a fourth move yet... Giga Drain's recovery with the beast Sp.A sounds nice, but it also makes me completely unable to hit grass types. On the other hand I have the rest of the team for that. Hm...
9. There are already a few people who could use such an article, and I know many more not around the site who would want such a thing. However, to make sure I cover everything, I'd appreciate it if everyone could just post a couple things that I need to address. For starters, the obvious EVs IVs Natures Roles Common Items Tiers Some common types of teams (rain, troom, etc) So anyone, chime in with anything else. It can be as comprehensive or light as we want. Also, if anyone wants to help me put it together, I would greatly appreciate the help.
10. Can some explain to me why all the Pokemaniacs like Slowpoke so much? Is there logic here? Somewhere?
11. Nothing lasts very long against Alakazam. Speaking of Alakazam, it looks like I won't be able to evolve my Kadabra after all, sigh. But, I picked up a Mr. Mime from a nice man in the middle of nowhere.
12. I'm not sure I know that... Did he do a song called Drizzle or something? Sadly the only one are I know are the 4-chan perscribed PokePuns. Should I bother?
13. Sabrina, the one who's weak to bug?
14. I hear there's an old man outside Pewter city who can help you with that. Or, like, an over powered quick attack or something. Finally beat Misty, but it wasn't easy. Made my way down to Vermillion, where I decided, in order to get Flash I should catch some extra Pokemon. Among them happened to be a friendly Drowzee, who I've since been raising. That leg of the journey came to a halt as I attempted to evolve Kadabra. Technical difficulties still need to be worked out in that regard. The team so far: Kadabra- Psykiller- Level 29 Drowzee- Trance- Level 15 Abra- Psycannon- Level 10
15. Well if I recall correctly, they had all three; we only got two of them. As for why Blue was the one we got, maybe they didn't want to be Christmasy, or were intending to keep primary colors
16. About time you showed up. No, it's a DS game. Lara and I tried the online programs a while back, to no avail.
17. ....Rather than clogging up that other topic. I totally would duel you, Hyper, if I like had the game and such, but, uh, no. What kind of deck do you run?
18. I wasn't -planning- on making a dream-sharing thread, but as one of the members of this site was in mine last night, I may as well, eh?
So as you might know, I just got back from a week long trip across various parts of the country. Apparently the feeling hasn't left yet, because last night I had a dream that my family went to go visit Lara's. Unfortunately, they chose the -worst- place to stay. We all met at a hotel made of stone and grey painful plaster, where they had rocking chairs instead of beds, and like two small blankets for the eight or so people there. The only heater was a giant metal block in the middle of the room that blew cold air and it would hurt if you tried to lean on it. The only way there was to walk down train tracks- there were two train tracks, probably about forty yards long running parallel to each other, with a cobble stone surface directly beneath them- but a giant chasm surrounding them. It turned into a highway somehow. Anyway. Now I was excited to meet Lara, but for whatever reason she was being extremely moody at me, and refused to even speak to me. So, I got bored and found the TV room. Other people were watching a program that was like, "What not to eat" and it would list several combinations of food, and say it was gross. Naturally, the hotel had all the right ingredients, and we sampled them as they were listed, agreeing with reach one. I remember it told men to dip Apple Chunks and Celery in Sweet and Sour Sauce and following that up with a Rotten Raspberry. Blech. After that I got tired of it and saw what else I could find. Lara's little brother (?) was playing Pokemon, and he actually -wasn't- giving me the cold shoulder, so I started talking to him instead. He was a little annoying, in the way that younger boys always are, but not too bad. Anyway, we started talking about the games, and wandered into the hotel's backyard. Effectively, it was just a bigger version of my house's back yard, but that's alright, because my place has a pretty big, and pretty alright yard anyway. ANYWAY, it was night, and most everything was pitch black. We could barely see anything, and as we were walking down the hill, I tripped over a rope. It wasn't a long rope, but it was tying something to something else. I followed it, it was only a few feet long, and it was attaching to our barn shed what appeared to be a push lawn-mower/vaccuum hybrid device. We examined it for a moment and turned it on. A great teal-cyan light welled up inside it, lighting up the area around the device with some sort of magical energy. Not really knowing what else to do, I guess we plugged the machine in. ....to Lara's little brother. He lit up like a lightbulb with magical energy, said he felt great, and even gained magic powers for a brief moment. Not wanting to waste the oppourtunity, we charged it up again, and I tried. The feeling was ecstatacy. We kept increasing the power level, and decided it would be rude to exclude Lara. So, her little brother ran in to get her, but at the same time, she appeared, outside already. She said she had come outside because it was midnight, and the fireflies were supposed to change color then. We looked up at the perfect black sky anticipatingly.... And it happened all at once, like a firework, sparks of green light erupted out from the center of the sky, only to turn red, and whiz back to where they came from, leaving a soft golden light floating around. Then a second one, behind us, and a third, in the trees, and not a moment later, the green and red lights were dancing everywhere we looked. The whole outdoors was captured in a warm golden glow, with the fire flies buzzing around the trees, and coming down to dance with us. still more fireworks left off though, and the entire yard became a symphony of color, the fireflies our orchestra. I began to tell Lara about the machine we had discovered, but just before she could try it, she decided she needed something inside. I waited a little bit, taking in the beauty of the scene, and started to write a poem about it in my head. Better yet, I decided, I would tell it to someone. So I whipped out my phone and started texting Alice a description of the machine and the fireflies and how wonderful everything was-- She and I have a history of trading dreams. I didn't that it has it had gotten so bad as to tell her about my dream while I was still in it though... So at this point I decided I should probably put the phone away, wake up, put the phone I had in my -real- hands away, and rethink my life. And I did.
20. I wonder about that. As a young child, my interest in the cards and GBC TCG only gained momentum from ricocheting off of each other. That's how it's supposed to work right? I suppose it's marketed more towards lonely children who have no friends to play real cards against... Although I did.... I wonder what was up with that. Signs of an early introversion. Ah well.
21. Mark All Posts As Read is under Useful Links on the left menu. Curious about the Top button. I'll look into it. Thanks for the feeback.
22. I just murdered the Portal that showed at the index- it wasn't anywhere near as cool as it was supposed to be. If anyone misses it, you can find it at http://www.pokemonreborn.com/index.php?act=home OR If there was just a certain part of it that you missed, I can see what I can to try and restore that part to somewhere more convenient.
23. Actually, there was a second, including the Team Rocket Expansion. It's like PKMNTCG4GBC 2 Team Rocket's Revenge. I have a theory that the longer a game's title's acronym is, the less meritable it probably is, but I think these are the exceptions. Unfortunately, it was never released in English, nor have I heard of any fanlations. Despite that I have been intending to play it...
24. Personally, I wasn't a superfan of all of Smogon's Pokemon. Maybe it was just that- that they actually were created for competitive battling specifically, or maybe it's the different art style; they just don't feel right. They're certainly not bad; just ehhh. One thing I definitely want to see more of is more original families. Like, all three stages brand new, not just tacking on new evolutions to everything old. It makes the new ones seem more... more...... More more, you know? What am I trying to say here?
25. Exactly, I think that's more so the case than anything. The unfamiliarity breeds and air of malcontent. And yet... People don't notice the pattern, and blame it on a legitimately inferior case of design- just as Lara said, from being stretched too thin. I think the real question is, how can we fairly judge them?
