There are already a few people who could use such an article, and I know many more not around the site who would want such a thing. However, to make sure I cover everything, I'd appreciate it if everyone could just post a couple things that I need to address. For starters, the obvious EVs IVs Natures Roles Common Items Tiers Some common types of teams (rain, troom, etc) So anyone, chime in with anything else. It can be as comprehensive or light as we want. Also, if anyone wants to help me put it together, I would greatly appreciate the help.

Can some explain to me why all the Pokemaniacs like Slowpoke so much? Is there logic here? Somewhere?

Nothing lasts very long against Alakazam. Speaking of Alakazam, it looks like I won't be able to evolve my Kadabra after all, sigh. But, I picked up a Mr. Mime from a nice man in the middle of nowhere.

I'm not sure I know that... Did he do a song called Drizzle or something? Sadly the only one are I know are the 4-chan perscribed PokePuns. Should I bother?

I hear there's an old man outside Pewter city who can help you with that. Or, like, an over powered quick attack or something. Finally beat Misty, but it wasn't easy. Made my way down to Vermillion, where I decided, in order to get Flash I should catch some extra Pokemon. Among them happened to be a friendly Drowzee, who I've since been raising. That leg of the journey came to a halt as I attempted to evolve Kadabra. Technical difficulties still need to be worked out in that regard. The team so far: Kadabra- Psykiller- Level 29 Drowzee- Trance- Level 15 Abra- Psycannon- Level 10

Well if I recall correctly, they had all three; we only got two of them. As for why Blue was the one we got, maybe they didn't want to be Christmasy, or were intending to keep primary colors

I wasn't -planning- on making a dream-sharing thread, but as one of the members of this site was in mine last night, I may as well, eh? Apparently the feeling hasn't left yet, because last night I had a dream that my family went to go visit Lara's. Unfortunately, they chose the -worst- place to stay. It turned into a highway somehow. Anyway. Now I was excited to meet Lara, but for whatever reason she was being extremely moody at me, and refused to even speak to me. So, I got bored and found the TV room. Other people were watching a program that was like, "What not to eat" and it would list several combinations of food, and say it was gross. Naturally, the hotel had all the right ingredients, and we sampled them as they were listed, agreeing with reach one. I remember it told men to dip Apple Chunks and Celery in Sweet and Sour Sauce and following that up with a Rotten Raspberry. Blech. After that I got tired of it and saw what else I could find. Lara's little brother (?) was playing Pokemon, and he actually -wasn't- giving me the cold shoulder, so I started talking to him instead. He was a little annoying, in the way that younger boys always are, but not too bad. Anyway, we started talking about the games, and wandered into the hotel's backyard. Effectively, it was just a bigger version of my house's back yard, but that's alright, because my place has a pretty big, and pretty alright yard anyway. ANYWAY, it was night, and most everything was pitch black. We could barely see anything, and as we were walking down the hill, I tripped over a rope. It wasn't a long rope, but it was tying something to something else. I followed it, it was only a few feet long, and it was attaching to our barn shed what appeared to be a push lawn-mower/vaccuum hybrid device. We examined it for a moment and turned it on. A great teal-cyan light welled up inside it, lighting up the area around the device with some sort of magical energy. Not really knowing what else to do, I guess we plugged the machine in. ....to Lara's little brother. He lit up like a lightbulb with magical energy, said he felt great, and even gained magic powers for a brief moment. Not wanting to waste the oppourtunity, we charged it up again, and I tried. The feeling was ecstatacy. We kept increasing the power level, and decided it would be rude to exclude Lara. So, her little brother ran in to get her, but at the same time, she appeared, outside already. She said she had come outside because it was midnight, and the fireflies were supposed to change color then. We looked up at the perfect black sky anticipatingly.... And it happened all at once, like a firework, sparks of green light erupted out from the center of the sky, only to turn red, and whiz back to where they came from, leaving a soft golden light floating around. Then a second one, behind us, and a third, in the trees, and not a moment later, the green and red lights were dancing everywhere we looked. The whole outdoors was captured in a warm golden glow, with the fire flies buzzing around the trees, and coming down to dance with us. still more fireworks left off though, and the entire yard became a symphony of color, the fireflies our orchestra. I began to tell Lara about the machine we had discovered, but just before she could try it, she decided she needed something inside. I waited a little bit, taking in the beauty of the scene, and started to write a poem about it in my head. Better yet, I decided, I would tell it to someone. So I whipped out my phone and started texting Alice a description of the machine and the fireflies and how wonderful everything was-- She and I have a history of trading dreams. I didn't that it has it had gotten so bad as to tell her about my dream while I was still in it though... So at this point I decided I should probably put the phone away, wake up, put the phone I had in my -real- hands away, and rethink my life. And I did.[/quote]

I wonder about that. As a young child, my interest in the cards and GBC TCG only gained momentum from ricocheting off of each other. That's how it's supposed to work right? I suppose it's marketed more towards lonely children who have no friends to play real cards against... Although I did.... I wonder what was up with that. Signs of an early introversion. Ah well.

I just murdered the Portal that showed at the index- it wasn't anywhere near as cool as it was supposed to be. Actually, there was a second, including the Team Rocket Expansion. It's like PKMNTCG4GBC 2 Team Rocket's Revenge. I have a theory that the longer a game's title's acronym is, the less meritable it probably is, but I think these are the exceptions. Unfortunately, it was never released in English, nor have I heard of any fanlations. Despite that I have been intending to play it...

Personally, I wasn't a superfan of all of Smogon's Pokemon. Maybe it was just that- that they actually were created for competitive battling specifically, or maybe it's the different art style; they just don't feel right. They're certainly not bad; just ehhh. One thing I definitely want to see more of is more original families. Like, all three stages brand new, not just tacking on new evolutions to everything old. It makes the new ones seem more... more...... More more, you know? What am I trying to say here?

Exactly, I think that's more so the case than anything. The unfamiliarity breeds and air of malcontent. And yet... People don't notice the pattern, and blame it on a legitimately inferior case of design- just as Lara said, from being stretched too thin. I think the real question is, how can we fairly judge them?

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Smogon and certainly not Serebii. I use both often myself. I'm just rather confident that there's still a number of undiscovered and better alternatives out there. As for being new to Competitive battling, I'm hoping to get some sort of an introduction up soon to transition people from casual gaming to competitive level battling. Though honestly the best way to do that is just to fight people...

I'd say they're getting darker. We went from "Let's steal Pokemon!" to "Let's steal Pokemon so we can actually accomplish a goal.... in order to steal Pokemon with a boss!" to "Let's use Pokemon to change the world for the better." to "Let's use Pokemon to change the world and make it mine." Unfortunately, each team has been even more of a joke than the last. Part of the problem is that in a game, you have to win, which means the bad guys don't stand much of a chance. So how do we get competent bad guys if they always have to lost? Something beyond traveling the world just for badges would be nice though, I have to say. Am I holding my breath for it though? Not in the least.

Oh, with something like that, you're allowed to use your starter to train it. I should have clarified. So I was a failure and accidentally overwrote Bulbasaur's Tackle. Because of this, I was stalled to struggle and consequently death by a Lass's Oddish and Bellsprout. Finally, after I learned Razor Leaf, I cut through and caught myself an Abra~ It quickly evolved, and was killing everything. It was about that time Misty's Starmie showed up, bitch-slapped it twice, and crushed its little soul. Talk about failure. Ah, what to do...

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the fourth and final incarnation of PokéPlace [Re[Re[Reborn]]]! With the impending release of Pokémon Black and Pokémon White versions, the reign of the fourth generation is finally drawing to a close. With it, the meta-game that has exploded with the addition of wi-fi will most likely crumble nearly instantly as trainers scramble to the be the first to the top of the 5th gen's new and even more expansive competition. Consequently, I would like to take the opportunity to issue a final challenge to trainers- The Reborn League, which PokéPlace has long-promised is finally up and running! Everyone is invited to take on all 17 leaders, and earn their claim to fame-- Additionally, I'd like to offer a number of opportunity for trainers to prove their ranks not just to the leaders, but among each other as well. Consequently, PokéPlace will be hold regularly scheduled tournaments, both online and through the actual games. All are encouraged to join, and there will be prizes. There WILL be a competition this opening week, but not a typical tournament, persay. Nonetheless, stay tuned for more information. Tournaments, as well as the sites they're hosted on, however, do require people. Therefore, if everyone does their best to wrangle in all the trainers we know, more fun will be had by all. It's my mission to keep everyone nice and occupied as we continue to anticipate the coming of the fifth generation games. Music is one thing, but I'm curious as to what sorts you'd like to listen to as you battle? Personally, I just downloaded lots of PokeRemixStudio's remixes and always listen to those. Same style, better sound; but i could imagine doing some harder core rock. So does anyone have any personal sound tracks?
