A total of five trainers competed in the re-opening day battles. It just so happened that all four of the entry-level leaders were around last night, so there were a number of battles to be had, by old and new competitors alike.

Out of fourteen total battles last night, only three badges were awarded.

Icey-kun and Manowar had the first battles of the evening, but it was Manowar who had the luck between them.
After a close-cut battle between Manowar and El, it came down to one final showdown, the results of which were unfathomable--

Speaking of unpredictable, Miss Kitty a new trainer, surprised everyone- but mostly herself- in her first battle against El, with her first victory--

While El didn't quite pull his weight last night, the other gym leaders were at the top of their game. Florinia, Hardy and Blake were unrelenting to the other trainers. Of the 12 battles played against them, only Manowar was able to win his badge from Florinia.
Just when he thought he had it made, however, Hardy stepped up to bat- giving Manowar a grueling battle to the bitter end--

Finally, looking to avenge the defeat of her son, Kazeshini, Uxie returned to the League, six badges already under her belt, to thrash Florinia and Blake. Unfortunately, the leaders weren't about to let that happen--

It's interesting to note that Florinia and Hardy, previously among the weakest leaders held themselves so well- Was it the competition, falling short to the league's previous incarnation? Or have the leaders finally stepped up their game?

Wow. A lot happened yesterday.
Maybe this has to do with the fact, that I was online battling about ten of you as five different leaders across three servers for nine hours. You have no idea how exhausted I was afterwords...
Out of about 30 battles played, a total of 10 badges were awarded.

Two grass types dominated the battles yesterday- can you guess them? If your answer was Cradily and Breloom, you were right!

I would like to say again, I have never seen a Pokemon so abused- so often struck by critical hits, burned, poisoned and especially frozen, as much as Cradily was yesterday. Between Florinia and Hardy, two different but similar Cradily sets, we now know it's a Pokemon to be feared...
That is, unless you have a Breloom.
7 out of the 10 badges awarded last night went to trainers who used the standard Breloom set- and rest assured the fungi played a key part in the battles. Additionally, it was Florinia's Breloom that tore apart Stars' team, much to his dismay. He recommended the Sleep Clause being reinstated (it was originally removed to allow gym battles to be played over wifi, but this is no longer necessary). I declined, trying to keep to the old ways, and then the sporepunch onslaught began to breLoom over me. If the pattern continues to warp the number of badges awarded, the rule may be applied.

Speaking of Stars, while he didn't fare nearly as well as his reputation would have predicted, he did take out Hardy and gave Blake a hell of a fight.

While the gym leaders over all didn't fare too well, largely due to Breloom, 5 of the 10 matches lost were by Hardy. If Florinia continues to beat his ratio (Hardy: 4:3 win-lose; Florinia: 2:1 win-lose), she may outrank him.
This isn't to say that Hardy hasn't had some pretty cool battles. His rematch with Manowar was just as close as the first time, and even more impressively, Check out his nearly 150-turn match, where Bastiodon proves it's not just "dead weight"

Also noteworthy, we literally doubled our member base through advertising,
Lara's entire team evolved and started kicking some serious Wiscass,
And finally, in a tragic turn of events, Nateh was absent when Manowar fought Cal. Oh, the misery... We weep for you, Nateh. And cheer for you, Cal.

In a decent improvement from Day 2, out of a total 20 battles last night, 5 badges were awarded.

Shade and Luna made their debut yesterday, each winning their respective matches- which doused Manowar's spirits. But towards the end of the day, with a new fire in his heart, Manowar came and blew Cal away (Sorry, Nateh, you missed him again) earning himself a Magma Badge. The other four badges granted were all from El- unsurprising, as he's the lowest rank, yet this means something else...

Blake, despite fighting a total of eight battles yesterday, refused to give an inch, and did not award a single badge, although Stars came really close for a second time. As Manowar pointed out, only two trainers have been able to beat Blake so far, making his win:lose ratio an impressive 9:1.
All of the entry-level gym leaders have today off, which means Shade, the next step up, will be taking the heat from El's losses. Depending on Shade's performance, Blake has a chance to rank up- which based on his incessant complaining, I'm sure he would really enjoy.

Shade, formerly ranked a significant eight places below Blake, risks his promotion today- will the solemn spirit rise to the challenge, or vanish into his abyss?

I have one word in regards to yesterday:
Ow.

Yesterday was devoted to the upper-level gym leaders, with the entry-level ones all off-duty, and perhaps it was because the unqualified competition had been weeded out, but...
Out of a total 6 matches played, 6 badges were awarded.

That's right, no gym leader was able to win yesterday. Although at the beginning of the day, several came pretty close, as with Geo's battle with Luna or Stars' battle with Shade.

Perhaps it was just an off day for the league, but as Manowar has said, it's not looking good for Shade's ranking. Although he did give Geo a decent challenge, we can probably expect to see the spirit drop in the coming week.

While Geo remains undefeated, many trainers will be trying to cover lost ground from the entry-level leaders Florinia and Hardy, and many more will be just entering the challenge for the first time, but who will prevail?
I had sleep-healing berries on two pokemon when I tried to fight her yesterday. A more pressing problem is that every member of my team is slower than that Breloom without a scarf. =/
U dont need a scarf to beat breloom a ton of pokemon out speed him,a timid max speed togetkiss out speeds him easily, which must be one of ur misteaks and with a lum berry, that pretty much stops his spore.

Yeah, my Togekiss is based on a Smogon set that's more defensively EV'd. However, I have thought of a way to make it immune to Spore (for more than one turn). I'll leave it as a surprise for Monday though. =)

So I have to remember what happened a week ago. That's not easy at all. Fortunately, proper documentation is here to guide me!

Out of a total 23 battles fought last Friday, 8 badges were awarded.

El's Team once again took most of the pain, qualifying another three teams, including Ice, who has been trying time after time again since day one, and at long last, his efforts finally paid off--

Similarly, Manowar was finally able to crush Hardy, who had, for the greater part of the week, barred most of this progress. With this, Manowar resumes his place (tied with the idling Uxie) for the second most badges.

Geo still takes first, yet to be defeated by any gym leader, but his matches are getting closer and closer. Corey was down to the wire, and once again, Breloom was able to work miracles, pulling a reversal at the crucial moment against Heather. That, coupled with Aya Shindou earning her third badge by entirely sweeping Florinia with Breloom does not bode well for the sleep clause's absence. We'll say one more strike...

Finally, at the end of the evening, Hardy came back with a number of trainers lined up to face him all in a row. How this happened I'm not quite sure, and yet, despite having previously been on a nasty losing streak, Hardy stepped up and knocked down every single trainer he faced at that time. Among them was Mashew, who became positively outraged at the 120+ turn stall out battle wherein the suspicions were confirmed that Hardy's sister is in fact the Steel-type leader.

After a week's delay, the league resumes on Monday with full force and a few new weapons.

People are choosing favorite gym leaders? Spiffy.

Although I said that the league wouldn't return until yesterday, some battles were conducted on Friday (Day 5.5) by request.
Between the two days combined, out of 11 total battles, 3 badges were awarded.

On Friday, the double-battles debuted as Ice took on Florinia's new team but the trend quickly spread to the other leaders. Currently, 8 of the 12 revealed leaders have established doubles teams- you can expect to continue randomly seeing them in action.

The week kicked off as Geo, the undefeated competitor returned to face Kiki in her debut match, but was, for the first time, broken (naturally, by a Breloom). An off day, or has Geo finally met his match?

In a strange and unfortunate phenomenon last night, next to nobody came online until after 10 at night. Since I can most often not stay till midnight, this affords little opportunity to hold battles, and results in most people only being able to do one battle. Or less, in last night's case.

But I still need to do a quick re-cap to highlight the closer battles, don't I...

Hardy, El and Blake all pulled out their doubles, resulting in close matches with Nateh and Nightmare, while Hardy revisited his singles team for his rematch with Mashew, with some similar results

"And that's what you missed, on glee"
