Thoughts about game as a new player.

Recommended Posts

Im a new player to rejuvenation and honestly I think its an amazing fan game. Ive played up to about half way through chapter 5/6 (i forgot what number it was but im on the island and nim is stone, i am at the fight with ren and his corviknight is strong than all the xen executives lol) Anyways, the first island of the game was amazing to play. It felt wierd fighting legendaries at the start of the game but ive gotten used to it and I think they add a lot to the story (plus that art with geara and garitina is absolutely amazing) The castle part of the game is hands down my farvorite as we get a lot of deep story elements. I just want to discuss the events after the castle because there are some minor things that really dissatisfied me.

First, Melia seems like a totally different person after the castle. I loved the emma persona, absolutely peak writing, but when she revealed herself as Melia she seems more like Emma then the Melia I know and love from chapter 1. The Emma persona was really a get stuff done type of person bc that was her goal as Emma, get out of the castle. This character trait of the emma persona seems to carry over to Melia a bit too much. Yes this is a tough time and we don't have time to sit around doing nothing but the least we could do is talk about some of this stuff we have been through. I don't understand why when I go to talk to melia on the ship that her first thought is "lets have a battle" and not "hey ik you thought im dead but im alive and here is how" like i still dont know how she survived. As one of her closest friends that should be my first question. I always had a hunch ever since a saw emma had a togakiss that emma was Melia and that made me really excited to get closer with her but I feel very robbed of that.

On a different note it seems Aelita has a writing flaw that broke immersion for me. There is no way that someone gets torchered and loses their father and isnt having a mental breakdown. Every time I go to interact with her or Melia it isn't ever about mental health or talking about the amount of stuff we have been through. I mean people only talked about the mc's mother dying until we got to the island then apparently I can function as a normal person. How does Aelita who arguably went through the most shit so far not want to talk to her closest friends about anything. Maybe that character trait is what Madame X ment by the fire in Aelita not being hers idk. But Aelita has mainly just turned into the start next mission npc which I really don't like. Also i never got to talk to her on the ship bc beating melia forced me to the next day which Im sad about bc I wanted to talk to Aelita after that.

On a more positive not all of the team Xen people are written perfectly in this chapter. The return of Geara and zetta is amazing. I love the make up incident and ren has maybe some of the best writing. There was one thing about Fern in reborn that I loved and it was that in another timeline he was us and we stole his spot light. Ren seems like a toned down version of that but I love how it shows how he had something he really wanted to do and we took that from him, leading to him feeling purposeless and join team Xen to try and prove he is stronger than us. ( i assume that would be his main reason)

On that note im excited for Ren coming back to our side because there is too many women in the party. Playing this chapter as a guy feels really wierd because almost everyone is a women and I feel like a guy kidnapped into a girls sleep over or smth like that.

Mainly I just want to see more interactions and relationships between the player and other main characters to make the game feel better because I have some other complaints but I dont want to trash too much on such a good game that honestly could be better than reborn when fully completed.

There is a reason for that.

I agree. Even back years ago it felt like this issue was just glossed over, i don't need like an entire arc getting her feelings on it, but at least a small scene of letting out her emotions would be really good for the narrative.

Ren got pretty much nothing in common with Fern, i don't agree even with surface level comparison personally, also obviously everything about how and what about Ren will be explained eventually.

When I was talking about Ren and fern i used personality when I should have used concept. Ren and fern in my eyes are both characters that went to the other side becauses they feel like the main character stole their life from them. Just Ren isnt a jackass like Fern so he qill probably come back.

If you haven't noticed, even her team has changed completely: she only has Hapi from her Ch. 1 team. She has 3 defining traits in Ch. 1: Normal monotype team, photography, and full shiny team, and in Ch. 5+ she only keeps one of them. The change in Melia is intentional and there's lots of stuff behind it.

Her father has also been ignoring her for and everyone for a long time, she's equally as happy that, at the very last moment, he started to care about her as she is devastated of his death, her mourning is just slow burning. To add to that, Aelita is also just built different. But yeah, more exposure would have helped, but we do get a bigger focus on Aelita later on, and an entire side game about her parents.
