You did get lucky, but not nearly as lucky as you would have had to be in the main series games haha. Not sure what the exact shiny rate is though.

ooo thank you, i wanted to play this like a few years ago but decided to wait, and then watched ttartube and decided to take a look!

Yup! It's 100% luck. Though Reborn's shiny chances are 1/100 (3/100 when you get the shiny charm), but everything you get can be shiny. Event mons, starters, trade mons, everything.
