So, part of my disc drive got corrupted and all my save files were lost. No biggie, I was only up to Akuwa Town and had crap IV's on most of my Pokémon. But the beginning of the game was very different then what I remembered. I know that areas are revamped each version, but my lost save was on the same version, V10. The beginning was the same as I remembered, up until I had to fight Venam as the first leader because I needed 1 badge to be able to use rock smash so that I could navigate route 2, which I don't think was ever necessary before. I remember that in my previous saves (v8,v9 and my old v10 one) Venam was fought in her gym for the 3rd badge gym, between Narcissa and Marianette. So I go to route 2... and then i'm like WTF? why are there pink trees everywhere and where did the factory go?Also, I don't remember seeing Nim that early. And I went alone, without Ren and Venam. And after that, everything is pretty much the same except Amanda gives me HM Cut instead of HM Rock Smash. And then Ren shuts the way to Goldenleaf city and actually succeeds, instead of the gate jamming and Ren blushing and running away like in my memories, so we need to go see Venam for her to melt it, but then the events at chrysolia mansion happen and everything from now on is as I remembered. I was confused, so I checked old videos of every version since V3 and somehow it always was like that. Does anybody else remember things the way I remember them?

First, Venam was always the 1st gym leader, at least from what I remember (I started playing in V8, also watched shofu's playthrough).

 

And second, what factory in route 2?

 

To be honest, I'm still confused about your confusion.

Strangely enough, the factory on route 2 does exist, If you use cut on the cherry blossom tree in the past sheridan village after completing those events. You will alter the future creating a route 2 where the tree's are a lush green instead of pink. As you called it, there is indeed a factory in the spot where the tree was and Cut is needed to access the route instead of rock smash if you're entering from Gearen City.

Did you maybe watch a youtube video of someone doing the flabebe quest on v10 and got confused?

Because route 2 is the way you describe it (green trees, factory, cut, a girl saying she remembers you looking for the cave with Ren and Venam) after you cut Vivian's tree and go back to route 2 for the flabebe.

From what I can gather you have just misremembered a lot of events. Route 2 hasn't been green in a while (other than the new stuff w/ the cherry tree in the past), Amanda has never shown up on route 2 (she always shows up entering route 3 and gives you Cut). You never actually *go* to route 2 with Ren and Venam, you merely meet them in the cave. You encounter Nim when you exit the train, who then has you head back to the city to get Rock Smash from Karrina (not Amanda).

It's a joke about alternate timelines and the mandela effect. When I saw Alternate Route 2 and MC's implied reaction what the lady said, I just couldn't resist making this thread about how the beginning would be different, being the Back to the Future fan that I am. (I imagine there would've been a scripted event where we jumped off the small cliff next to the lady (which makes a path that doesn't require cut at all and prevents you from returning to Gearen while teamed up with Melia and Ren))
