Your Favorite In Game Teams Ever

This is just a thread to talk about the teams you made in game. They can be for either in game or competitive, but in general, this is just a thread to reminisce about some of the fond teams you created over the years (including those team MVPs). While I understand that games such as Fire Red and Heart Gold are technically from generation three and four respectively, they are so similar to my Red and Gold teams that I decided to place them in the same slot. Here are the teams I made in the main series:

 

Generation 1 (Fire Red)

I hold this team in very high regard. In fact, it may just be my strongest overall main series team. Blastoise was a tank, Vileplume was an excellent sun sweeper (pairing up nicely with Flareon), and Dugtrio was an incredible revenge killer. While Dragonite wasn't that good for most of the game (as you're stuck with Dragonair for most of the time), she eventually pulled her weight and dominated in the rematches. However, the real MVP was Raichu. He would get paralysis hacks and critical hits at the most opportune times.

 

Generation 2 (Heart Gold)

Since this is a remake of a gen 2 game, there was no fairy typing yet. As such, Togekiss wasn't as useful as she could've been, but she was still extremely solid. Typhlosion with the Choice Specs hit like a truck, while Sudowoodo brought the pain with incredible moves such as Rock Slide and Earthquake, with Sucker Punch for maximum cheese. Electrode wasn't as good as my other one (we'll get to that later), and Quagsire was Timid of all things, but they pulled their weight. However, this team is here for one specific reason: Wobbuffet. Wobbuffet can bring down entire countries if utilized properly. I killed four of Red's mons with Wobbuffet (Blastoise, Venusaur, Snorlax, Lapras), because I was able to utilize this thing correctly.

 

Generation 3 (Emerald)

While Fire Red may arguably be my strongest, Emerald is my favorite team ever. This is the team I built when I got back into Pokemon after years of taking a hiatus. Of course, I had to build my team off my favorite Pokemon of all time, Swampert. He was the obvious MVP, tanking every hit while dealing out massive damage. Breloom was disappointing at first, but he eventually became extremely clutch by the end. Crobat was the obvious grass check, as he would dominate the competition with Sludge Bomb. Torkoal was the Quick Claw user, allowing him to spam Curse and Body Slam with maximum effectiveness. Grumpig was a decent wall, both effective at tanking hits and dealing damage. Finally, unlike Heart Gold, this Electrode had a Timid nature, allowing it to outspeed nearly everything in the game. Needless to say, Wallace never stood a chance.

 

Generation 4 (Platinum)

Those who know me know I hate gen 4 more than any other gen. However, some colleagues of mine told me to give it another chance. As such, this is the team I came up with. While I still don't like gen 4, I really enjoyed this team. Abomasnow was there to take out Garchomp. Tentacruel was a great tank. Gliscor utilized Earthquake effectively. Lopunny was able to spam Attract and Return in order to achieve maximum cheese. Infernape was frail, but could get really quick strikes in. However, the real star of the show was Jolteon. Those Thunderbolts hit like a truck.

 

Generation 5 (White and White 2)

The team you see above is my Pokemon White team. Personally, I think generation 5 (particularly Black and White) is extremely polarizing, as you're only limited to new Pokemon for the new adventure. While some may see this as unique, I personally saw this as a turnoff. I hated this team. Samurott is my least favorite water starter. I believe Vanilluxe is an abomination to Pokemon (it's just two Vanillish put together, something you think they'd stop after generation 1, and yes, that applies to my Dugtrio), Galvantula didn't get to do that much past Skyla, and I got Archeops at the end of the game because I needed a sixth Pokemon. At the same time, when this generation hits it right for me, it really hits it right. Long story short, I adore Lilligant and Darmanitan. That duo carried me throughout the main story. Sadly, they weren't enough to save me from what I felt to be a disappointing experience...

 

...White 2, on the other hand...

While I didn't like Pokemon White, I fell in love with White 2. This team was incredible from beginning to end. My Emboar was modest, allowing me to spam Blast Burn to my heart's content. While not necessarily efficient, it was certainly fun! Ampharos was the clear MVP, carrying the team throughout the Elite 4 and gyms. I ended up catching Sigilyph while looking for a Dwebble. Funny enough, I'm glad I caught Sigilyph instead. That thing is a beast! Leavanny was an excellent physical sweeper (although quite frail, as well). Jellicent acted as an excellent tank for the team. Finally, Mamoswine was my key to defeating Ghetsis. Overall, the ability to access Pokemon outside of generation five really improved the experience for me, and while Emerald is my favorite Pokemon game, I believe Black and White 2 to be the best games in the series.

 

Generation 7 (Ultra Moon)

That's right, I didn't play X and Y. I decided to go ahead and skip that generation in order to go to gen 7. I was going to play Sun, but when I saw they were releasing what were essentially the same games again (but enhanced), I decided to hold off and get Ultra Moon down the line (as I like Dawn Wings Necrozma more). Overall, I'm happy I did this, as I'm quite proud of this team. Decidueye, despite being at a massive disadvantage in the Alola Region, pulled his weight quite nicely. Magnezone was incredible (as it always is). Salazzle put in more work than I thought she would. Even as a Salandit, she made the fight with Totem Lurantis a complete joke (because Dragon Rage at that point is broken, lmao). Bewear pretty much stole the show, acting as the team MVP. Lapras was the only reason I won against Totem Ultra Necrozma, as I got off a Quick Claw Perish Song. Finally, while Honchkrow was an extremely late edition (I thought it was only available at Poni, when it was actually available at the start of the game RIP me), it was phenomenal in the Rainbow Rocket arc.

 

Special mention should also be made to two Pokemon I boxed when I caught Lapras and Honchkrow: Arbok, who got me through the hell that was Totem Alolawak, and Hawlucha, who was just supremely useful (I don't like repeating types, so unfortunately Hawlucha had to go).
