when grace asks you to cross the bridge with her, if you are on a bicycle, you will leave her so far behind she will disappear from the screen and will never appear, effectively trapping your file there.

EDIT:

OK so apparently my combusken (now blaziken) is permanently bugged and does not learn any moves via level up. ever since it evolved from torchic at lv 16. dunno what do do

EDIT2:

Female meowstic still has male meowstic moveset.

Fell Stinger does not raise attack when successfully kills target

Okay, so before when I checked the PBS files I could've sworn Combusken had its level up moves listed, but when I check now it says

Moves=1,FLAMETHROWER,1,DOUBLEKICK,1,SLASH,1,BULKUP

Marshtomp and Grovyle also have this issue. It looks like the moves they have are the ones Grovyle, Combusken, and Marshtomp had in the ORAS demo that came out a few weeks or so before ORAS was released. Fixing this now.

Female Meowstic learning male Meowstic moves is an Essentials issue; Essentials doesn't support different movesets for different genders. Fell Stinger is a Gen 6 move, so the issues I've been having with Gen 6 are likely why it doesn't raise attack when KOing an enemy. Most likely that applies to any kind of new effects from moves and abilities introduced in Gen 6.

I'm going to upload a 1.2 version that fixes the Hoenn mid-stage starter issue shortly. For anyone who has a female Meowstic or a bugged Grovyle/Combusken/Marshtomp from 1 or 1.1, if you send me your save file I'll put the moves you want on them.

So, non-binary protagonist will be released in Demo 2 right?

Yes. When the non-binary protagonist has been made, I'll make an announcement about xem.

(I know this is a double post, but)

1.2 is out now. In addition to the Grovyle/Combusken/Marshtomp issue, it fixes 2 other bugs:

-False Swipe now costs 2000 coins like it's supposed to instead of 4000.

-The bridge bike issue with Grace. I tried a few ways to solve this and the only way that worked was to disable using the bike in Western Waterway, but it's preferable to possibly having someone's game freeze and losing progress.

Also, while I'm making this post:

I'll be away for a few days starting on the 21st (going on a train ride). When I come back, in addition to fixing the remaining bugs development on episode 2 will start (there will be a 1.3 if another major bug pops up or if I can figure out how to make gen 6 mechanics work before episode 2 is released). I'm currently working on a preliminary Pokemon availability list for new Pokemon that will be in demo 2, which I'll post on the 20th, the day before I leave. Note that the list won't be the final version; there will be more. The list will be the ones already guaranteed to be available. I'll also give some info on features available in demo 2, etc.

I'd again like to apologize for all the bugs that were in episode 1, it was my first experience with making a game please don't be mad at me ;~; I'll improve as I continue using RPG Maker.

Yo ICSW, Link Stone doesn't work as far as I know. It only gave me "Give" and "Toss" (and cancel) when I tried to use it on my Boldore.

Uploaded a 1.3 version that fixes this. You should now be able to evolve trade evolution Pokemon with Link Stones.

Hello ice cream sand witch I've played through your game and I have 3 badges and it certainly has potential.... My suggestions are maybe improving some of the sprites and areas. A lot of wide open maps with absolutely nothing. Also happy that the game text appears to be proof read.

Anyone know where the prism scale is and/or how to evolve Feebas in this version? Besides the unobtainable starters Milotic is the last pokemon on the list I need to get :)

Anyone know where the prism scale is and/or how to evolve Feebas in this version? Besides the unobtainable starters Milotic is the last pokemon on the list I need to get :)

It's amazing how absent minded I am. I intended Milotic to be obtainable but forgot to actually add a Prism Scale. Uploaded a 1.4 version that adds a Prism Scale item ball on the southwest part of Bolaii Beach.

Since it'll be tomorrow in 11 minutes (and probably will be tomorrow by the time I finish this post EDIT: It's 52 minutes into tomorrow now wow), I'll talk about the demo 2 info I mentioned a few days ago.

As I mentioned, I'll be gone for a few days starting on the 21st, and development on episode 2 will start when I'm back. Here are some of the features and changes to expect:

Features:

-non-binary protagonist will be added. Those who have already played will have the option of switching to the non-binary player without having to start a new file

-Pokemon Contests will take place in the first city of episode 2.

-The 2nd and 3rd EV training centers will be accessible, near the beginning and end of episode 2 respectively

Changes:

-a few maps are going to be remodeled to deal with the excess space issue that was mentioned a few times.

-there will be evolution music and different wild Pokemon victory music than the default Essentials. This was something that repeatedly slipped my mind both in development and bug fixing.

-I will have Gen 6 mechanics working by the time episode 2 is released

Episode 2 will be bigger than Episode 1 across the board. It has more maps, more event Pokemon and sidequests, etc. Episode 1 is the shortest episode. It for the most part took place in a quiet, calm part of the region, where the cities and towns were pretty close to each other. Similar to how breakfast is meant to start the day off and is eaten in the morning, the quietest part of the day. Episode 2 is more energetic.

Here's a preliminary list of new Pokemon that will be obtainable in episode 2. Again, this isn't final, just the ones already decided to be in ("decided" including which location they'll be in).

Thanks to an amazing spriter known as Palletite, the trainer sprites for episode 1 have been completely redone! I've uploaded a 1.5 version that has the new sprites. (I also added bicycle music) Spriting/art is by far my weakest area, so I'm eternally grateful to Palletite for offering assistance! I hope you all love the new sprites as much as I do! ^_^

Here are some examples of the redone sprites. These are the player characters and the Team Portal grunts.

portal grunts look cooler nice

They look fabulous. I was really amazed when Palletite showed me the Portal grunt designs.

Been busy, but I finally got around to playing it. It's awesome btw ;)

Thanks :D

I thought I'd give a progress update since I haven't posted in a while. I managed to find a way to get Gen 6 moves and abilities to work. I've also been remapping some areas that have a lot of empty space. Here's a screenshot of Aliora City:

f75afd2e4c1541e79e0676f69a69cbde.png

I actually planned from the beginning (before I started working in Essentials) to have water in Aliora, but for some reason I didn't put in any when I was making episode 1? It has water now, though.

The next news/announcement will be when I finish Olidroll City, where Pokemon Contests are held. I'll showcase some parts of the city along with contests. It's the biggest human settlement in Ceolis, key word being human.

Did you use Light Screen? I thought I fixed this bug in 1.1, but it looks like the Light Screen error message.

I did use light screen but I believe it ended before lillipup came out if that matters.

Edit: I made it to second gym and I must say... most (if not all) areas are really big and empty... It's like playing porn game made with rpg maker where they made areas unnecessary big in order to make game last longer and hope that it will mask lack of content. That's how it feels.

Anyway... team portal, huh? Will we be able to join them? Or at very least take their uniform for ourselves? It looks fabulous! It's all sparkling and stuff!

A lot of the maps are being updated for the next release to fix the issues of excessive space and uniform nature. Here's a screenshot of Virima:

e38b0ce1972a4cb1a4938055d26c70d6.png

It's now Virima City instead of Virima Town. This is a small suburb, with the bridge going to the bigger part of the city. The bigger city is episode 2 content.

Additionally, the suburb (formerly town) now has nature instead of gray flooring.

This is not the final version; it's a work in progress.

Fun fact: Virima was originally intended to be a resort city with a few districts at the beginning of development, but I decided to make it a town and use "resort" and "multiple district" as separate concepts for two other places, both of which will be in episode 2. And now it's a city again.

Basically right... A Mincinno used Baby-doll-eyes on my Snivy, which has contrary, but my attack still fell instead of increasing???

Issues with some Gen 6 abilities and move effects are known about and have been fixed for the next release. For some reason they weren't working before despite me having the files and data (and a successful attempt to get them working caused other issues like the terrain circles in battles being way higher than they're supposed to be), but now I've found a way to get them to work without breaking other things. :D

On the topic of the next release, there will be a 1.6. It will contain the redone episode 1 maps, Gen 6 mechanics functioning properly (along with Flame Burst doing spread damage), and a few misc. other things. (the player would be prevented from entering Classic Park until episode 2, since I've also of course been working on episode 2 content)

Also because of Gen 6 being fixed in 1.6

Sweet Power Baby is helping me with map updates (and she'll also be reviewing all episode 2 maps). 1.6 will be released when we're finished with the map edits.

It's good that maps are being updated, because places like this just look bad.

Does it means that map of the region (the one from pokegear) will also be fixed/updated?

Right now it is just a giant mess and I don't think anything is right on it.

That's the default map of Essentials. It will be updated with a Ceolis region map for episode 2, which is when players will be able to Fly.

(tbh, I actually forgot the region map was a thing until I thought about the fact that Fly is in episode 2 which would open it up ^^')
