So, after a little thought my guess was it's something like this: 1.- Save on a safe spot on V6. 2.- Open the game on another version. 3.- Catch the desired pokémon. 4.- Go to the safe spot to save again. 5.- Open the game on V6. For example, I'm not able to reach certain parts of Amethyst Cave in an older version since I already completed in the newer version, causing the game to freeze.
