To be honest, before battling Julia, there's Corey's quest that rewards 5 Exp. Candy S. It's missable after battling Julia.

If I were you, I would be too careful about not evolving Igglybuff that came from sidequest. Because you know what kind of a little consequence will have when you evolve Igglybuff. So I would catch Jigglypuff directly if I saw one.

What changes between the two routes ? When or under what circumstances does one meet child Lin ?

 

It starts during final battle against Lin's team whatever Arc-Pulse is included in her team or it is fought after you beat Lin for second time where the real Lin appears. But you mustn't lose in the latter part.

[Evolutions bugging if you use a lot of candies at once]

Propably only while doing the pinata password , if you give enough candies that a pokemon would evolve twice from the levels it took ,in my case got a vanilite from level 15 to 50 , the second evolution wont happen it will only evolve once , in my case it became a level 50 vanillish and i had to downgrade it with a common candy then level it up again . Yes. I agree with Katernin. In fact, just level up again after evolution and it evolves like normal, whenever the Pokemon has level higher than a level that triggers evolution.
