  1. I'd go 190 hp / 252 atk / 66 spe and adamant on Scizor. Swap out X-Scissor for Bug Bite because of Technician and then give it Roost instead of Acrobatics, then a Leftovers. But I prefer bulk over pure glass cannon personally.

Also, did you debug in Scarf or am I missing something?

I agree. While pretty much all trainers have a type they specialise in, they aren't really restricted to that type, even though they have a few of them (with the exception of gym leaders). Mono type Elite 4 members would be really boring.

Have you finished playing E18? Most of the LauraBennett stuff comes from there. If you haven't, massive spoliers below:

      Hide contents

At the Glass Workstation, Bennett confirms that he is now a member of the Elite Four, since Laura "resigned". After the black hole incident, Bennett explains what he did and told her that he would get her her position back, and they leave together to stop Zero from reporting back to Lin.

People have suspected since long ago that Laura and Bennett would be dating, since the people who played them in the Online League were dating IRL. It is also supported by the fact that both Laura and Bennet's Pokémon benefit massively from the Flower Garden field, and the characters are the same age.

It would be suuuper boring! Planning ahead for Mono type battles with all Mons available just seems too easy for me. Plus the E4 strategies with monotypes would be really limited, as I think, is shown with the gym leaders.

I have finished E18, I've just forgot most of the RP stuff and these days whenever I finish a challenge run I rush through it all lol.

I see.. I still maintain I'd be dissapointed if any of the E4 battles were 12v6, but I don't know. Maybe it's because I just dislike Bennett but I hope El "lied" to him in some way and he gets screwed over.

Thank you for the little bit of insight!

  3. Doesn't really make sense to have the E4 be mono-typed when we have just gone through all typings with the gym leader. Makes far more sense to have the E4 have a general theme/idea - like El's religion, as an example.

At least, I would be severely dissapointed if the E4 were mono-typed.

    Your predictions look very interesting.

Can I hear more about the idea that Laura/Bennett is a 12v6 and why that is?

I get that El is prepping Bennett for an E4 spot but surely it doesn't make sense to have one of these battles be 12v6 format? I hope not. At least, I think it makes more sense if Bennett ends up getting burned on becoming an E4 member or if he somehow takes El's spot. Maybe it ends badly for El. In the coming episode we'll focus more on the rings/keys/crystals and I'm guessing El and his religion might play a role and maybe it ends badly for El. I just hope an E4 member isn't 2 people.. that would suck, I think.

Is Laura confirmed as an E4 member? So far it's only Heather and El who are confirmed, right? Or am I misremembering?

All right my boy, it's been a while since I have built a team, let's hope I don't ** this up. First I like to build a team looking for coverage against all types plus I like to have a very agressive team. You seem to like building with doubles in mind with moves like Aurora Veil and Tailwind, I'll try to keep it in mind. I'll also show EVs/IVs that i think works best, I hope you can work some breeding.

    Infernape @ Life Orb

    Ability: Iron Fist

    IVs: 31/31/31/X/31/31

    EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

    Nature: Jolly

    Moves:

     - Swords Dance (Boost)

     - Fire Punch (STAB)

     - Thunder Punch (Coverage)

     - Close Combat / Power Up Punch / Poison Jab / Shadow Claw / U-turn

Crobat @ None / Flying Gem

    Ability: Infiltrator

    IVs: 31/31/31/X/31/31

    EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

    Nature: Jolly

    Moves

        - Confuse Ray (Coverage)

        - Acrobatics (STAB)

        - Cross Poison (STAB)

        - Leech Life / U-turn (Coverage)

    Garchomp @ Garchompite

Ability: Rough Skin -> Sand Force

    IVs: 31/31/31/X/31/31

    EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

    Nature: Jolly

    Moves

        - Swords Dance / Stealth Rock (Buff / Setter)

        - Earthquake (STAB)

        - Dragon Claw (STAB)

        - Crunch (Coverage)

Well, let's go wild with Infernape. Iron Fist + Life Orb will bump your moves a lot, with good IVs and the right alocation of EVs, you'll deal a lot of damage. As Jolly nature will boost your speed, you can use U-turn to scout in battles and be more prepared to what is coming. I can't seem to understand why overheat would be more effective without proper nature (Modest or Timid) and IV/EV building. As Swords Dance's TM is not available yet, you can use any moves listed on the last move, also use them when you need to change strategy for some specific battle. Also, if you want to stick with a fire mon, Blaziken is one of the best, I use one on my team.

It's said by many in this forum as one of the best to use in Reborn, Magnezone doesn't fit my play style so I can't give too much about it. In my view, most of electric mons are very limited by their moveset when it comes to coverage. I'd prefer to use a Grass mon that will be more reliable and will have the same role as a electric mon on a team (mostly dealing with water mons). Electivire and Alolan Raichu are better for me if you still want to stick to electric, my preferencer is for the first.

I used Crobat on my team a while ago, and I used this moveset I showed here. Crobat is one of the fastest pokemon available so it'll always go first. If it doesn't hold any item, Acrobatics double its power (from 55 to 110), it could also hold a Flying Gem, which will be consumed before the move hits, bumping its power to 165 in one turn, this without recoil that Brave Bird inflicts. Leech Life will help regain some HP if needed. U-turn will work the same as on Infernape, but better here, as Crobat is faster. Keep in mind not to repeat moves or move types to have a good coverage. If you stick with Crobat, don't use U-turn or Poison Jab on Infernape.

Flygon is a problem for me in this team. It repeat the Crobat's flying type and it doesn't have great stats and great movesets. What we can profit from it, is the ground typing. Krookodile and Garchomp would bring more to the table. Mamoswine would be a good addition too, but with A-Ninetalest, we would have two ice types. Krookodile would be really nice, but Garchomp is just better stat-wise and also it would be the mega on your team, I'll leave a moveset for it. Also you could think of having a sandstorm setter like Hippodown, just so Garchomp would be even better.

For A-Ninetales, I'd change Freeze Dry for Extrasensory just for coverage, we don't have Psychic moves on the team so far. The aforementiones Hippodown could come on this slot.

Milotic doesn't fit my play style the same as Magnezone. I can't help with it too much, but I believe it is good enough for the team. I suppose you use it to revive some mons while you keep staling your enemy. More offensive water mons would be Starmie, Sharpedo (also has mega) and Greninja. All very fast, agressive and with a lot of coverage moves.

    Hope it helped!

Don't really understand the point of suggestion moves that aren't available. And regardless, I wouldn't want to use Swords Dance on Infernape, even if it was.

Just have to heeeaavily disagree on Flygon. First of all it's a Dragon/Ground, there is no Flying type overlap. Second, with access to Dragon Dance and Earthquake, Flygon is easily one of the strongest mons easily available in Reborn. There's a good reason I refuse to use it when I play through as it's just broken once you get perfect EV spreads. Flygon has a brilliant movepool and is bulky enough to get you going with D-Dance.

Freeze-Dry > Blizzard on A-Ninetales, definitely keep Freeze-Dry over Blizzard.

Personally I find Extrasensory weak on non-Psychic, without the STAB boost but I guess our mindset differs as I would suggest Hypnosis on Ninetales, when you run Aurora Veil, Hypnosis allows you to get a clean swap and start setting up for example a Flygon Dragon Dance while protected under Aurora Veil. It's A-Ninetales' biggest selling point and you're just handicapping yourself by not playing into it. Freeze-Dry / Moonblast / A-Veil / Hypnosis is my suggestion for A-Ninetales.

I've often found a common trap people fall into is overloading themselves with "coverage" moves, tunnelvisioning on the idea that you absolutely MUST have coverage for EVERYTHING and you end up forgetting about the individual strengths of your pokemon - when really, you need to focus on having coverage for your teams weak points. And not add in moves for the sake of having a specific type move without it fitting into your team strategy.

If there's one thing I've learned building teams for Reborn playthroughs it is that coverage is overrated. Sounds silly at first glance but think of the fights you're in. Single-type Gym fights. Most other big fights they don't have these mega varied teams where you need 10 different type moves. You're far better off building into your Mons' strengths and then learning how to abuse field effects and Seeds. You're wearing yourself thin. Just a thought.

Aya was the next big stumbling block in this run, and there are very few ways this fight can go that brings us to victory. This strategy relies on freezing Drapion on T4, never missing any attacks, and Drapion can never thaw. It takes a while to even figure out this strategy (thank you Hope for the help!), and for a while I was trying to freeze Toxapex instead on T1. Didn't work.

I admire your tenacity my friend. This run looks like fun! How did you choose your team?

  6. Well done! You get a whole new appreciation for your Pokemon doing runs like these.

I've done runs only using Eeveelutions and a 6 Random Mons team (Lopunny, Gengar, Poliwrath, Lycanroc, Lycanroc and Rotom-NoForm)

Some of these have become favourites because of those runs. And have no doubt been the most enjoyable playthroughs I've done!

Who was your MVP? Have you, like me, gotten a new-found appreciation for some of your Mons used?

  7. I'd use Focus Sash on Infernape and give it Stealth Rock, then use it as my lead. Blaze would be better I think, Iron Fist only boosts Mach Punch, it has no effect on Close Combat, Flare Blitz.

Iron Head over Smart Strike on Excadrill. Also Jolly just to make sure I don't get outsped, especially if for whatever reason Sandstorm isn't available.

Knock Off over Throat Chop on Weavile imo.

Volcarona and Aegislash are both top tier picks, they are going to make life a lot easier.

Wow you actually bothered to get 731 pokedex entries for poipole damn.

anyways, I see some weakness in your team (coverage).
Flying, Fairy, Dark and Water types. I recommend switching kangaskhan for Magnezone, as it can deal with flying, fairy and steel types.
    Magnezone- Modest

    Ability- Sturdy,
4 special def, 252 spec attack, 252 speed
Item - Electric move-boosting item or choice scarf

     -Thunderbolt
    -Flash Cannon

    -Reflect / Hidden power

    -Volt Switch

Naga and Aegislash takes care of Fairies. Volcarona can deal with most Dark types, I think except Tyranitar. But Mega Kanga handles it.

He has plenty of coverage against Flying with 2 Ice-type moves and Thunder Fang on Hippowdon. I'd recommend swapping Heat Wave out for Thunderbolt on Naganadel. And instead use Whirlwind or Toxic on Hippo instead of Thunder Fang.

Also I'd swap Hurricane out for Psychic on Volcarona. Or Giga Drain to give you the option to run Grassium-Z. Kind of depends what you're looking to take down.

But overall your team consists of 3 uber-tier mons and the rest are basically the strongest there is available. It's a solid team.

  9. I would replace Noctowl with Fearow. A very strong mon early game.

Also maybe catch a new Buneary just to get rid of Modest nature.

Grab Growlithe, that will serve you well all the way through the game. Maybe replace Kricketune with Beedrill when you get to Beryl. Cross your fingers for something interesting from the mystery egg.

hmmmmm this sounds really difficult. even the game itself has an npc that recommends using more than 6 pokemon if specific types are giving you trouble.

the earlygame is super starter dependent for one. the only starter than has an easy time with julia is marshtomp but he gets dunked on by florinia and pulse tangrowth. you have plenty of options to deal with grass things like swoobat, tranquil, noctowl, and mankey in particular is great for dealing with cradily with karate chop + focus energy but I wouldn't consider any of those particularly top tier.

grotle can actually sweep florinia with curse (which is my preferred strat and starter) and does great against most of julia's team but he doesn't have an easy way of dealing with oricorio that doesn't involve pachirisu backing him up and he can't really set up against plusle and minun because encore or voltorb because of sonicboom. plus grotle doesn't really like fighting pulse tangrowth.

I think combusken might be the best starter for the earlygame but idk how he does against julia's oricorio. blaziken is also pretty amazing in general though he really doesn't have a fun time against most of cain's mons so he'll have to rely on other team members for that.

I think most of the best mons kinda come after florinia and this whole thing means either soloing the earlygame with a starter (which sounds like hell) or putting up with something that's fine in the earlygame but'll be dead weight in the long run. neither of which are really condusive in building a team that will make the game easier when the easiest way to beat the game is to just use what works for the right fights. it does require some grinding though the devs have already confirmed in a blog that they're planning on making grinding easier in E19

Speed Boost Blaziken destroys the whole game, lol. Yes, early game too.

Charmander -> Charmeleon also destroys Julia. Especially if you bother to invest some time into Speed EVs fighting Woobats. They both also knock over Florinia's team as well as Fern's. They kind of just need someone to cover Primarina against Cain.

It's definitely harder with just a team of 6 as you have to get creative with your movesets, itemization and EV spreads throughout the game (depending on which 6 mons you choose). But it's not as hard as you make it out to be. I've done with 5 random mons and the random mystery egg.

I don't know if this will give me some sour responses but the game really isn't that difficult. Just look at some the challenge runs people have done and the handicaps people give themselves just to get a challenge out of the game.

I'll say this though, one of my favourite playthroughs was doing a set team of 6. You develop a bit of a connection to your mons and you learn to think very differently and you learn to innovate (as long as your team isn't made up of 6 pseudo-legendaries that runs over the game for you). It was a very cool run, can highly recommend trying it.

  11. Intimidate Growlithe into Arcanine has probably been one of the most useful members throughout the game I think. Is great early game with focus on SpA against Shelly and Serra. Takes out Kiki's Lucario and Intimidate means there's always a place for it. Just Seed it against Amaria when it's Underwater and teach it Wild Charge and it's still useful there. And because of Intimidate and it's access to Close Combat it's even good against Hardy's rock types.

Contrary Malamar is also really useful. Especially against the Solrock/Lunatone fights. Kind of destroys Aya. Is good against Samson as well as Hardy and Radomus.

  12. You don't feel like giving out a little more information?

    Movesets? EV spreads?

Which of Hardy's mons is giving you trouble in particular?

Seems to me your Gyarados and Metagross would be your stars here. Incineroar's Intimidate could also come in handy. Eelektross could potentially take care of Aerodactyl.

Maybe make use of double Intimidate from Incineroar and Gyarados and use that to safely set up 1 or maybe even 2 Dragon Dance on Gyarados, then sweep as much as it can, then use Metagross to clean up the rest. Could even set up a Light Clay Reflect before you switch Gyarados in to keep it even more safe.

  13. ~~Where is Jonathan located in Corey's gym? I can't for the life of me find him to activate Corey's Masters team.~~ Found it. Have to rescue the officers BEFORE you beat the PULSE battle, otherwise he doesn't show up..

Also, who's the lady in the HQ with the machine that turns my mons to level 100? And what's her purpose?

The game keep freezing after rescuing Charlotte at Yureyu HQ. Any fix for this?

Thank you for trying anyways. Not sure what happened to my back ups but I fixed that problem.

It's possible it is I who misremembered and if so than the bad is mine.

I've only played the game once and that glass factory gauntlet alone was enough to turn me off from ever playing again.

Hahaha. The dialogue or the battles?

Because if you mean that last run through the void then I definitely agree but the battles were pretty cool the first time around. Kind of wish they were a bit harder nowadays :P

  16. So first off, this is the Redux version of Reborn.

I just rescued Charlotte and then something weird happened. I got stuck. I can't move in any direction, I can't open my menu. The only thing I can do is save the game, which I accidentally did and so my last save file got overwritten - and something weird happened with my backup files so I'm kind of screwed.

Is there any way to fix this? Any way at all or am I seriously forced to restart the game..?

I've uploaded the save file in hopes someone knows a fix.

Yeah that pissed me off as well. Which is why I read the damn thing and then told her I did so she couldn't accuse me of lying.

I concur. I said I could see her as kind of a stalkhomed hostage.

You have stated some valid reasons for disliking Adrienne. I concur it was thoughtless of xem to take a stranger at their word and as a Gardevior owner xemselves, xe should have found something off about the way GG was speaking against Radamus as her trainer or "master" as she prefers, I know I did. It also doesn't sit right with me that while xe does say "well that's a relief" or was it "Well, I'm relieved" when the real GG declares her love for Radamus, xe doesn't actually admit that xe was wrong and offer an apology.

I, however,  find it concerning that you're using someone's pronouns to justify murdering them even if it's just one of multiple reasons.

Granted it's been some time since I completed ep 18, I don't recall Adrienne getting snippy about anything, Xe has always been a pretty chill/mellow character.
What I do recall is that it was Cain who brought it up by inquiring and Adrienne had answered politely.

Xe/Xyr/Xem can be a bit obnoxious but They/their/them which is much easier and more common to my knowledge is also valid.

I don't care about his pronouns. That's his business. Life is short, if you get more out of it wanting/needing to go by different pronouns then fuck what other people say or think, go for it.

I might have misremembered him getting snippy, it's been a while and I've run through the game enough times I don't read the dialogue anymore.. if I have misremembered then that's my bad!

@Siv Murder is still punishable by law, and Julia/Florinia would kill you if they decided that you killed Titania or Amaria. So if Titania’s death is a “stray” bullet, why not “suicide” Amaria?

(In exchange for this previous advice, I would like you to spare someone else because “annoying” isn’t a reason to kill people… right?)😇

All I'm hearing here is just 2 more people are going to have accidents.

Haha. Shit, I just realized I might be a bit of a villain.

On a serious note though - they couldn't kill me, it's against the law, remember? So if that's their motive then they wouldn't cross that line themselves. But also, given the state of Amaria I think I have a pretty decent case to argue for self defense. She's clearly got obssessive personality disorder, severe depression and she shows signs of a complete lack of empathy, she has no regard for other peoples health and feelings, plus she's tried to kill me already so she's displayed she's a danger to others. She still blames me for her losing Titania so I'm still the object of her obsession and since no one around us took any action to help her or to prevent her from doing any further harm to others, it's not too far fetched to argue she's still an active, legitimate threat to my life. Self defense.

Who would you want spared? Heather or Terra? Because I definitely take back my hit on Heather. She's the only one with any decent character development. If Terra, then uhm, she has to go. She just has to.

Honestly though the more I think about it, the more I want to spare Titania. As awful as she is to the player, I respect the hell out of her for cutting down the Meteor grunts at the WTC. With all these super-hero series and movies around I'm seriously tired of this whole "killing bad guys is wrong" argument. They're bad guys. They kidnap, torture and kill people. Literally. They poison an entire citys water supply. They literally make the world a worse place to live for every day people. Just kill them and be done with it. Who wants to keep battling the same arseholes over and over because they obviously keep coming back. The only thing that stopped Simon was when his friend got killed by Sapphira.. when he found out there's actual consequences when he starts fucking with peoples lives.. so clearly, that's the only thing that works. Otherwise you're just wacking out the weed in the backyard over and over because they keep sprouting. Preventative action is the best action. Go Titania and go Sapphira, mow those suckers down!

I had made a character tier list for Reborn characters to see how much I like the cast and for my own entertainment. I had put 19 characters in the dislike are, which is exactly half the cast.
Even though I don't have a reason to kill Julia, for example, I don't like her. In Rejuvenation I even like the bad guys. There is character development for them.

And about Elias and Luna, she is his! He hired a woman to have her!

Yeah it's kind of crazy how many of the characters I just don't like.

I don't like Julia either. She just has a too big personality, ya know? Feels like it's quirky for the sake of being quirky, like a lesser version of Terra.

    Never played through Rejuvenation.

So, I hear the characters are based on actual people - Elias and Luna, too. Did that genuinely happen in real life? Or was that last bit about her father hiring a woman to have her just in the game?

Also where did you find that out?

  20. Mfw I want to kill off almost everyone, on both sides. I genuinely hate most characters in this game lol.

Terra because anyone who talks like that should just be put down immediately.

Fern because, obviously. Although admittedly I kind of regret it as it's always fun to beat someone who gets all butthurt about it afterwards. It's a great laugh.

Sigmund, because, you know, the torturing kids. He doesn't even do ECT right!! Nevermind the fact that he's doing it to kids against their will: he's supposed to give them muscle relaxers and put them under anesthesia.... they're not supposed to be fucking awake. Second: it's only used on kids with some pretty severe personality disorders or schizophrenia. On adults, mostly depression.. Only Anna really seems to fit that description given her pretty obvious schizophrenia. The rest are all pretty damn healthy. Amaria could probably benefit from it..

That's also not mentioning fact that it causes brain damage every single time you do it.. oh and the potential from permanent memory loss.

What an awesome doctor. Kill him for sheer incompetence.

Bennett is a stalker. Helped kidnap and hold hostage the object of his obsession. And then threatened the player as if it's our fault. Honestly not worth the money it costs to treat this sicko at the nuthouse, just get rid of him.

Elias as a character is so fucking boring. He's a fanatic who stalks and kidnaps his supposed daughter (can't remember if we find out if she really is his?).. just kill him.

Friendly fire.. Titania, Amaria, Heather, Adrienn.

Titania didn't believe me when I didn't read her stupid diary and then proceeded to antagonize us for the rest of the game. Sorry, stray bullet when I was shooting at Sigmund. My bad.

Amaria tries to drown us. That is a horrible freaking death. Like, super horrible way to die. Also holds Titania hostage in their relationship by using her depression and suicide as a bargaining chip to keep her around. That's some pretty sick manipulative behavior. I don't think I'd even bother to try to make this look like accidental friendly fire..

Adrienn.. gives me the creeps. Our first encounter with him he buds into business that isn't his and tries to steal from strangers. Sorry but whatever lies Elias told him, it's pretty clear who's in the wrong and who's in the right, given what happened. I haven't liked him since then.

Second, how am I supposed to know what pronouns you identify as?! No need to get snippy mate, we've just met. Literally JKUST met. Third, no one - NO ONE is THAT good a person.. Nu-uh, I'm calling secret Meteor super-villain or something. Just wait and see. Gives me the creeps. Given how liked he is though that is definitely going to be "an accident."

Heather has annoyed me since our first encounter after the PULSE Tangrowth fight. But honestly, as a character she kind of grew a lot. Ametrine City events proves that. Kinda regret picking her. I take it back. She's alright.

Friendly fire, I'd go Amaria because in Reshiram she tries to drown the PC for causing Titania's distance, just one instance that illustrated her to be unstable and toxic.
I fault Titania as well for leading her on but considering Amaria's level of obsession I can see how she might be considered a Stockholmed hostage.
Such a shame, I liked Amaria in the beginning and chose to tell her about the diary out of gratitude to her for saving the PC's life at Blacksteam Factory. I honestly felt betrayed.

I voted Titania simply because she accused me of reading her silly diary when I bloody didn't. Arrogant brat, as if her diary would be of interest.

In her defense on what you mentioned, she didn't lead Amaria on. Amaria manipulated the hell out of her, using her depression and threatening with suicide to keep her around. That's freaking nuts. All on Amaria, the manipulative, murderous horrible character.
