I just recently did this fight! I was determined not to have to go back and switch out Pokemon for it. Luckily I had a focus sash, so Arbok held that to get Glare off. That at least made it so I'd be quicker than Arceus. Next turn Arbok used Acid Spray to lower the special defense harshly. Then I put out Meowstic to use light screen while holding the item that extends the number of rounds it's up for (I'm blanking on the name!) and Misty Terrain to change the field. After that it was just a matter of Meowstic and Arcanine whittling Arceus down with special attacks, with the rest of my team just fodder for me to revive and heal the main two. I lucked out at the end with Arcanine as my last Pokemon up. Arceus was too paralyzed to move a couple rounds when it should have killed me, but I was able to end it thank goodness.

Oh wow that's good to know thank you! Just looked up the ability and that seems really good. Sounds like I'll be keeping Weak Armor since I will evolve Onix once I can.

That's true. If he's going to be one of my main Pokemon then perhaps Weak Armor would be better just to help with the slower speed. Especially with a higher defense, Onyx should be able to handle a few defense reductions. Thanks for the input! I'm having a lot of fun with Reborn, especially because it's forcing me to think of these things.

I'm about to face Cal now that I've reached the Apophyll region. I've decided to use Onyx as one of my team members for the fight and the one I have has the Weak Armor ability. Do you all think that ability is ok? I guess I just don't like that I lose defense with it, although the speed boost is nice if Onyx is just faster than his opponent. Any thoughts/opinions? This is the first challenging Pokemon game I've played so thinking how to use abilities to the best of their use is new to me and I could use the help!

I second the mod that shows Pokemon types in battle. It really helps since there are so many Pokemon now. Here's the link to the SWM mod. The specific one to show types is "SWM-TypeBattleIcons"

What a great idea for some positivity! One thing that made me happy today was that it was a slow day at work. I work in a hospital and with the way things are right now, slow days are few and far between.

I just restarted Reborn for the same reason Max_fnd, lack of research on what to have backed up. *major facepalm* I hope to go about this play through much more thought out with EV training since I struggled with my first save. I had no clue about the Friendship berries. What a useful item!
