  1. Screen sharing is just a feature through Discord, right? If so, I'd be up for it!
  2. Thank you :'D Grinding is literally the worst part of this whole experience. It's tedious, boring, and like you said there is no worst feeling than having the Pokemon you know you needed for the next big fight (or even just a good, well-rounded Pokemon that you like) get knocked out by a critical hit or a high damage roll. I just lost my Pachirisu trying to grind up some newbies in the Grand Hall and now I'm out a reliable Electric type which I can't easily replace at this point in the game. Uuugh. Would the game you tried to play happen to be Pokemon Uranium? Or Insurgence? I've tried Nuzlockes of both before and just. Oof. I gave up after less than an hour out of frustration, lol. I kind of want to quit right now but I'm going to keep pushing.
  3. Update: I'm actually an idiot So I spent all of yesterday training up some new team members. I realized pretty quickly that I couldn't get Bounsweet with a Purugly, so I just went back to a previous save before I evolved it. Problem solved! I got my Bounsweet. During grinding, I had to death fodder my shiny Unown to heal my Charizard, but I wasn't too torn up about it. I got Bounsweet leveled up enough to evolve: first into Steenee, then Tsareena. It was nice having an offensive Grass type again. I powered the game off and went to bed for the night. I got home from work this afternoon and picked the game up again. Tsareena still needed a few extra levels to catch up to the rest of the team, and Pawniard was only level 25. I was so tired of grinding and really wanted to do something fun for a change. So I made the worst decision I could have: I decided to fight Maxwell. Ninetales put up a fight, but ultimately lost against my Charizard. Houndoom was brutal. I paralyzed it with my Pachirisu, but it refused to get haxed, hitting over and over again with an unnaturally strong Return. I was panicking because I only had a limited number of healing items, so I switched to Pawniard. She barely survived Feint Attack and went down next turn while I healed Pachirisu. I sent out Tsareena. She was 10 levels below this thing, but I was running out of ideas. She confused it with Teeter Dance and things started looking up as RNGesus blessed me with hax. I healed up my Charizard in preparation for switching it in. Houndoom broke through confusion. Not even the rain could stop Fire Fang from OHKOing. Down went Tsareena. Maxwell kept healing, but Charizard took it out in the end. I knew Charmeleon had Hidden Power Electric, so I sent out the only member of my team who hadn't fought yet: Purugly. We did just under half to each other first turn, but Purugly was holding a Metronome and Slash was a STAB move with a high chance to crit. I knew she'd take it out next turn. I got a low roll on Slash while Charmeleon landed a critical hit Flame Burst. This is some really flammable rain. So yeah. I'm a little upset. Charizard finished the fight and I ended up accepting the Carvanha out of sheer rage. I had planned on doing the orphanage stuff tonight, but I guess I have more grinding to do instead. Team:
  4. It's definitely viable, but you're going to struggle for a bit in the early game. Piplup will be your only team member until after you obtain the first badge, so make sure you get one with decent stats that can carry you through Venam's Gym. Once you have access to Route 1, find a Pokemon that can use Headbutt and get yourself a female Trash-Burmy and a Pineco from the trees. Grind both up to level 20, when Burmy evolves into Wormadam. Wormadam learns Quiver Dance upon evolving, and if you get enough boosts, you can sweep through most battles with just her. She will also learn Confusion and Hidden Power to help with Keta, and a couple of other useful moves that you can learn through the Move Relearner in Sheridan. Pineco won't evolve until level 31, but it's got decent bulk, access to Sturdy, and learns Self-Destruct, a 200 base power move that is good for clearing the field during the early game. Once you do all the story stuff in Amethyst Cave, you have access to Klink (use Electric Gem on a minecart), which means you can have a team of 4 by the time you reach Keta. Then it's just a matter of finding the right combination of moves, natures, abilities, and items to get through the Gym. After living!Keta, you can get Onix and Nosepass to help with Carotos Mountain and spirit!Keta. Full team get! After that, you have access to Alolan Diglett, which evolves at level 26. It has decent attack and speed and might be good to have for Marianette. If you need help finding Pokemon for a Monotype Run, I'd highly recommend this guide: https://www.rebornevo.com/forum/index.php?/topic/46013-rejuvenation-monotype-challenge-glance-guide/ It's the most up-to-date Monotype guide that I know of and a great resource. Good luck!
  5. Early last week, I started a Nuzlocke of Pokemon Reborn. I wasn't expecting to get far, because all previous attempts have ended at Florinia, but I've somehow managed to make it to and defeat Shelly. This is the rule set I've been using: Standard stuff, with a few modifications to give me a fighting chance. I haven't played through Reborn normally in years, so charging into episode 18 with a Nuzlocke probably wasn't the smartest decision I've ever made. I've been toying with the idea of turning this run into a story or a comic, so let me know if you guys are interested. I'm currently sitting at 20 deaths, with three of them being against Shelly this morning. Honestly, I'm surprised she didn't end my entire run right then and there. Right now, I'm taking some time to recover and rebuild before progressing the story. This is my team so far: I was lucky enough to get a Pawniard from the Mystery Egg, so I'm training him up for Shade. I can also still get the Bounsweet from the Salon in Obsidia and the Solrock from the Grand Stairway. Ooh, and there are some new places I can visit now that I have Rock Smash. I'm also considering stretching my static encounter rule just a bit to get the Carvanah from Archer, since I could really use a water type and the alleys could technically be considered a different area, but I'm not sure how I feel about that. I'm just surprised I've made it this far.
  6. @khanh_mai I actually used Snivy way back in v9 and he carried me through so many fights. Even stuff that resisted Grass still took a bunch of damage. I wouldn't be against using him again. I love Empoleon, but not having access to Flash Cannon or even any good water moves till Terajuma mkaes it hard for me to want to use him. Swampert is solid, but I kind of already have plans for a Water type. Venusaur is something I haven't really thought about before, though I do like him as a Pokemon. I could definitely do that for Jangmo-o, especially since you can get an Exp. Share pretty early in the game. @Autumn Zephyr Yeah, I can see what your saying about Grass types. With the exception of Serperior, I could never seem to get further than the second Gym with a Grass starter. They were just frustrating to use. Greninja's one of those Pokemon that I have always slept on. I've got nothing against it and, like, I know how strong it is with Protean, but it never occurs to me to use it. Honestly, if I wasn't so dead set on using a Vaporeon, I'd probably just pick Primarina again. It put in so much work. I don't think I've ever gone through the game with a Fire starter before, though given the choice, I'd pick Infernape over Blaziken any day. Mach Punch + Iron Fist is such a good combination for picking off weakened 'mons, and access to Calm Mind and Taunt open the door to some neat movesets! I didn't realize just how buffed Typhlosion and Delphox were in this game. That might just seal the deal right there, lol. And the king of VGC himself. Darkest Lariat would help so much against Natasha's annoyingly bulky ghosts. @kream Gotta love the furry wrestler! With the sheer amount of double battles in this game, he'd probably do really well. It's an option, especially since I didn't use him much in Sun/Moon/US/UM. Blaziken I actually have used before, but I just don't like it that much. IDK, maybe I should try it again. I know it's objectively the best starter in the game.
  7. This has been bothering me since the new version released a few weeks ago. I want to start a new file for v12, but can't decide on a starter. I used Primarina for v11 and honestly loved her, but I want to try to use some different Pokemon this play-through, so that's not an option. Usually I'd just use the Randomizer and soft reset 'til I got something good, but I'm just not having any luck this time. What starters do you guys like using, and why? What do you think would work well for an Intense playthrough of v12? inb4 everyone says Speed Boost Torchic Also, I have a save from way back in v9 where I managed to get a Jangmo-o. Is it worth using? I know Kommo-o is a monster, but it's baby form is super frail and it gets 0 good moves before evolving, which made trying to level it up a pain.
  8. On my current playthrough, it's a tie between Crawli and Angie. Crawli because I kept underestimating the field, and Angie because double battle. I ended up using the scummy rainbow field to beat Crawli (Castform for Sunny Day, then swept with Talonflame and Roserade w/ Weather Ball), and a scummy seed on my Magneton to beat Angie. Previous playthroughs, I always seemed to struggle with Spirit Keta, Marianette, and Narcissa.
  9. I'm currently playing through Intense with Set mode and it's a lot of fun, but for the sake of your sanity, I definitely would not recommend playing it as a Nuzlocke. Now, with some modified rules, I could see it working. Maybe you could make it so that deaths against Gym Leaders don't count, so that you aren't having to completely rebuild your team after every gym battle. Or maybe after completing a chapter, you are allowed one free Revive for a fallen teammate. Idk, you could probably pull off a normal Nuzlocke on Intense/Set, but it will not be fun.
  10. There are multiple ways to get around the terrain/weather. You can completely shut down his buffs for a couple of turns by setting up Electric Terrain. Togedemaru is perfect for this because it learns Electric Terrain by level up and it's available around the time you fight Crawli. Steel typing and Sturdy allow it to resist Crawli's attacks while you set up the terrain. Make sure to pack a bunch of strong electric types as well if you decide to go this route. A-Raichu is perfect in this scenario, as Surge Surfer doubles his speed thanks to the terrain and many of Crawli's Pokemon are weak to (or at least don't resist) Thunderbolt. What's great about this, also, is that without the field being around, Water types don't take supereffective damage from his attacks anymore, AND Surf gets a boost in power, so you can still bring in those bulky beasts to tank hits and do some serious damage with Surf. You could also just bring a speedy Pokemon that knows Sunny Day and turn it into a Rainbow Field, then sweep him with boosted, supereffective Fire moves, or even boosted Water moves. What I ended up doing was knocking out his Galvantula, then bringing in my Castform (who was not aggressively EV trained, but was at the level cap) and Lycanroc. He was so focused on hitting my Lycanroc with his Heracross and Ariados that I was able to set up Sunny Day with Castform, then sweep him with my Talonflame and Weather Ball Roserade. Ariados is a a sneaky little shit with an overpowered seed, but is otherwise very slow and frail. Bring something in to sponge a hit first turn, then OHKO it with a supereffective move. Like many people have said, Lycanroc really shines in this Gym with Rock Slide and priority Accelerock Wide Guard is your friend in this fight. Mantine learns this move at level 23. Truth be told, Mantine is pretty good for this fight in general, given its overall bulk. It's a good 'mon, but not without weaknesses. Flying types and physically bulky Water/Steel types will take minimal damage from First Impression, then fire back with for decent damage. Fast, specially offensive Pokemon can destroy this thing pretty easily, or at least active its Emergency Exit and temporarily knock it out of the battle so you can heal/regroup. His coverage isn't all that great once you realize that he has a huge flying weakness. And while he tries to mitigate this by slapping Rock Slide on a bunch of his 'mons, it's still very easy to exploit. Talonflame (Gale Wings + Brave Bird), Crobat (Brave Bird + high speed), Noivern (high speed + special attack + 100% accurate Hurricanes), and Yanmega (Speed Boost + high Special Attack + it is buffed by the field) are all really good Flying types you can get at this point that can completely destroy Crawli since they can all outspeed his team and deal supereffective damage. Also, his team relies on the rain/field to work, so you can pretty much cripple him by changing the terrain. None of his Pokemon resist Electric, and only Araquanid resists Fire, but it has easily exploitable weaknesses of its own. Re-specing your team might also help. You can buy EV-reducing berries for cheap over at the Lost Camp, then EV train at Gearan Labs to get the specific spreads you want. I've had to do it fewtimes in my most recent Intense run. If you still find yourself struggling with Crawli, then I might reccomend lowering the difficulty for this specific fight. There's no shame in it. Hell, I've had to do it myself because Geara is a literal piece of garbage with that freaking Giratina that I somehow never had a good check for. You can always go back to your preferred difficulty once the fight is over, but there's no need to stress yourself out over a video game. It takes all the fun out it.
  11. Thank you for the suggestion! I love Tyrantrum and he's got some surprisingly good coverage moves, though it sucks that you have to breed for the elemental fangs. Then again, the same could be said for Lycanroc, so I don't know. As for the Eevee, I actually meant to evolve him into an Espeon before the third gym, but got lazy and left him in the PC. Maybe its time to fix that. Volt Absorb Jolteon might be nice since I've got a big weakness to Electric when I don't carry Krookodile. I don't think I'll need Decidueye and Typhlosion for this fight, since I have Roserade and Chandelure, but I still might train them up for future fights.
  12. Title states it all. I just finished the last of West Gearen's Help Quests and am slowly finishing up all the side quests on Floria Island before taking on Erick. I've been rotating team members to handle different bosses and so far haven't had too much trouble outside of a select few instances (anything involving Geara, Crawli, Valor Mountain, etc.). I've been wanting to train up some new Pokemon in preparation for Grand Dream City, but I'm having a hard time deciding which ones would be worth investing time into. Below are a few screenshots of my many, many, many Pokemon. yesi'materriblepersonwhohasn'tpurifiedalltheshadowpokemonoksueme There is also a special PC box dedicated to both retired and active team members. I call this place the Pantry because I'm unoriginal and named all my Pokemon after food. I'm not too worried about Erick, so suggestions don't have to be for him necessarily. I usually keep Primarina, Lycanroc, and Roserade on the team, and swap between Hariyama, Togekiss, Magnezone, Chandelure, Malamar, and Krookodile (although he's been pretty underwhelming so far). Silvally is trained up, but I don't really plan on using him right now since the only memories I have access to are Bug and Poison. I think I will give him the Dark Memory when I find it. Any suggestions on abilities and move sets would also be very appreciated.
  13. I wouldn't be against the idea, though I personally feel that Intense Mode is enough of a challenge on its own without the need for a mod.
  14. A Soul Link is essentially a co-op nuzlocke. If you are unfamiliar with nuzlockes, they are challenge runs where you self-impose rules to make the game more difficult. The two most basic rules of a nuzlocke challenge are that you may only catch the first Pokemon encountered in an area/route, and that fainting is equivalent to death, meaning that fainted Pokemon may no longer be used in battle. A Soul Link adds the additional rule that every Pokemon caught by one player must be "linked" to a Pokemon caught by another player in that same area. Say, for example, you two were to do a Soul Link of Rejuvenation. In Gearan Sewers, you encounter and capture a Woobat. You tell @lolokxd who then encounters and catches a Trubbish in Gearen Sewers. From that moment on, those two Pokemon are paired. If you were to deposit your Woobat into the PC, they would have to deposit their Trubbish. If their Trubbish were to "die" in battle, your Woobat would also be considered dead and neither Pokemon could be used again for the rest of the run. Also, if one person fails to capture their first encounter in an area/route, the other person must forfeit theirs as well. In a Soul Link, both players should always have the same amount of Pokemon. Some people add more rules such as gender clauses (i.e. if you encounter and catch a female Pokemon, @lolokxdwould have to keep encountering Pokemon until they find a male). Two people I follow on YouTube have the rule that, across both players teams, no primary typing can be repeated. But really, you only have to follow the three rules I covered for it to be considered a proper Soul Link.
  15. Wow, the results so far are actually a little surprising. Flareon got a little bit of love and Espeon is beating Umbreon! @Zarc Haha, Espeon is definitely one of my favorite Eeveelutions, too, and it's a Pokemon I haven't used all that much, so it would be interesting! Plus I did just get the TM for Psychic... @Wolfox I'll probably take your advice and wait a little bit longer, just to see what other encounters I get. I want to evolve it before Ula'ula's Grand Trial (just beat Olivia and Nihelgo), which gives me plenty of time to find some new Pokemon and figure out my team. And hopefully not get destroyed by Totems again b/c frick that Wishiwashi and Salazzle. @Morshu Thank you for the in-depth analysis! I've actually gotten really lucky with encounters, which kinda makes up for the fact that I've had three Wingulls and three Pikipeks, haha. Aside from a few close calls, those four have been holding their own really well, and both Magnemite and Mudsdale are really close to evolving. Trevanent looks really cool, but I hear what you're saying about his moves. I'll keep it on the team and see how it does, and maybe bench it if I find something better. I prefer bulkier 'mons too and Umbreon would be great to have against Acerola (provided he makes it that far). On the other hand, I like the idea of outspeeding things and wreaking havoc with STAB Psychic. @GS BALL Lots of love for the sun Pokemon! I do really like Espeon's movepool and all-around stats.
  16. So, I got Pokemon Moon for a Christmas present back in 2016. I played a little here and there, but I never really stuck with it. Work and school ate up a lot of my time and made it hard to enjoy anything, and that included video games. So the game's been collecting dust on my bookshelf for the past two years. Recently, though, I've been trying to get back into some old hobbies of mine, and what better way than to attempt a mostly-blind challenge run of Pokemon Moon? Keep in mind, I have watched a couple of playthroughs on YouTube and read a few things here and there, which is why i don't consider it a fully blind run. Anyway, I've been going at it for a little under a week and already this game isn't taking any prisoners. I've cleared Melemele's Grand Trial and defeated all of Akala's Trial Captains. My death toll is sitting at 12, which makes this my bloodiest run to date. My team ended up kinda...funky, but I like them. I'm getting ready to face Olivia, leveling up my guys, and I'm trying to figure out what to evolve my Eevee into, since right now he's kind of a weak link. The team is currently: I've narrowed it down to either Flareon, Leafeon, Espeon, or Umbreon, since I feel those guys would provide the best type coverage. If Leafeon, I'll bench Phantump and scoop up the Magby I've got chilling in the PC. But I also kind of like having a Ghost type on my team and Phantump's one of those Pokemon I've always been curious about using. Without too many spoilers for upcoming trials, which Eeveelution do you guys think will work the best with my team?
  17. It's okay! I gave up on the idea after about an hour and just trained up Togedemaru. Used Graveller for Stealth Rock, let Lanturn knock it out, then swept most of her team with Serperior (Togedemaru helped with the bulkier stuff, like Milotic and Slowbro). Won on the first try ;u; I guess this topic can be closed, but I have no idea how to do that.
  18. @Hooligan What kind of set do you run on it? I could see doing something defensive, with Intimidate, Eviolite, and Bulk Up. @LykosHandThanks! I'm hoping I can actually keep up with it. I haven't been part of a forum since I was 13-14.
  19. @Wolfox Ahh, thank you! And I might take you up on that offer! I love games, but I generally suck at them. @Hooligan Thank you! ;u; I just searched up free-to-use Pokemon images on Google and it was one of the first to come up. I don't mind Incineroar (planning to use him in Moon once I have some time to play), but I really wish that they had made him a quadruped like Litten and Torracat. @Ainz Ooal Gown Thank you! Also, that picture is adorable. @Dragoknight Thank you! Haha, don't worry, he's holding an Everstone. @Zargerth Hello again! Sandal: the real MVP of Dragon Age. Who needs swords when you have enchantments?
  20. Rotom-Wash shouldn't be too much of an issue since Serperior can probably outspeed. Milotic is...Milotic. I'll have to figure something out for that. True. Iron Barbs might help too, if any of her 'mons are physically attackers. Ugh, that sucks. I guess I can make due with whatever it learns naturally, which isn't much. Also, does Lombre only appear at the Ranger Outpost at a certain time of day? The location guide doesn't mention anything, but I've been running around for about 40 minutes and haven't encountered one.
  21. Hello! As you can see, my name is Moxxey and I'm a newbie. I'm a student at a community college, currently majoring in chemistry. I still don't know what I want to do with my life, but I enjoy science. I work at a fast food joint, which kind of sucks, but money is money and my coworkers are pretty cool. I like video games (just ask and I can list a few that I'm currently playing), all kinds of music, reading, writing (bad fanfiction, but eh), shopping, listening to horror stories on YouTube, and a bunch of other stuff I'm forgetting. Also, I've been lurking on this site for about two years, and I still haven't played the latest episode of Reborn, so please have mercy and don't spoil anything for me ;_; If you have any questions, feel free to ask, and I hope to get to know you all soon :-)
  22. Ooh, did not know that. A Morelull/Ludicolo with Rain Dish might help, though I'm a little worried about Ice moves.
  23. Ahh, okay, thank you. Couldn't think of anywhere else to put it. I was thinking of leading with a Graveller to set up Stealth Rocks, then using Serperior and some kind of Electric type to sweep. Togedemaru has Iron Barbs, but I have two Ability Capsules, so I could easily change it. Still debating about Oricorio. Is there anything I should look out for? Like, something that could wall me and be annoying?
  24. Hey, guys. My name is Moxxey. I’m a brand-new user, though I’ve been lurking for about two years. I joined to ask for a little help with my team. I think this is the right place to put this, but if it isn’t, please let me know so I can fix it. Still trying to get the hang of this place. I just finished the events of Blacksteeple Castle and I’m on Terajuma Island, getting ready to fight Valerie. My team (see spoiler tag) has been carrying me through Reborn difficulty, but some of them are admittedly pretty bad and they don’t always work that well as a group. Plus, I’ve heard horror stories about this gym leader. My team Here’s what I have in the PC. Really starting to regret not using one of my Heart Scales when I had the chance and teaching Thunder Fang to Nacho, or Thunder Punch to Meditite. Anyway, an Electric-type would probably be useful, and I’m leaning towards the Pichu. Alolan Raichu would be nice because it would also give me a usable Psychic-type, since I’ve gotten to the point in the game where Strudel’s Psybeam just isn’t cutting it. The downside is that Pichu is currently level 1 and I never bought the Apophyll Pankcakes to evolve it, so I’d be stuck with a Pikachu for a while. I could just use my Thunderstone, but…eh. There’s Electrike, but I don’t like Manectric that much. Zebstrika’s decent, but frail. I’ve never used Oricorio and my team could benefit from a Flying type. Togedemaru is another interesting option and would add some nice bulk, but I have a Steel-type. And of course, I could always go catch a Grubbin and get a Vikavolt. I can provide stats/abilities/moves/etc. for any of the Pokémon if needed. Finally, any other suggestions for the team, from movesets to potential replacements, would be welcome.
