  1. I love these Pkm Reborn Dev Blogs. Great to see you tackling all the bizarre Pkm Essentials issues and tell us what the cause was. And the more directly game design/programming centered posts concerning e.g. AI just make me wish GF had a remotely as good eye, interest, and ambition for that kind of stuff.
  2. So I recently tried out the Pokemon Sage demo and, good lord, the XP curve was bullshit. Winning the immediate rival battle at the beginning doesn't even get you to level up to 6. The XP gain for way lower level mons was fine but everything else was a complete slog. In addition, there were lots of annoying early level mons with Sand Attack, Defensive Curl or Tickle, making your early physical attacks like tackle less effective. Also mostly ice and normal type mons, so you couldn't take much advantage if you didn't pick the fire starter. And on top of all that the Pokecenter placement was extremely sparse and there was no other healing available so that I constantly had to backtrack. That game also doesn't have a turbo mode implementation yet so...that might have been the worst slog I've encountered, yet. Right from the beginning, you're slowed down to a crawl. Because I was interested in the Fakemon I pushed on nevertheless but eventually resigned some time after the first gym battle when I couldn't handle it anymore. I also only beat the first gym because hidden power was available early on and luckily steel type on one of my strongest mons and thus super effective against the ice type gym with its really high level, powerful mons on the gym leader. The XP gain curve is something I didn't use to pay much attention, too, but oh boy did I take notice quickly when it's done as badly. Especially at the beginning of the game where you have few options, it's an absolute killer.
  3. Concerning the FPS mod: I tend to play with the usual 3x speed introduced with ep16 most of the time, especially during battles. Since this FPS mod resets that speed-up every time upon entering a battle that means I have to hit alt again for every battle, which does get annoying in the long run. So, if nothing else, could you allow us to disable the FPS mod completely? If I'm not mistaken there's no value that does that currently.
  4. Well, that was quick. Dunno, it crashed on other saves, too (upon starting Reborn). But seems to be working now, thanks!
  5. Thanks again for the amazing mod! So I downloaded the latest version and it keeps crashing the game for me. Even re-downloaded Reborn completely and started a new safe file but, alas, to no avail. Whenever I enter the options menu and either try to enable one of the mod options or just leave the options menu it crashes. i attached the crash message.
  6. Thank you so much! This mod is god-send. I started my umpteenth replay a couple days ago and I really like using Fire mons and well, it's been raining for a day and a half and it just became obnoxious at this point. It's not even that the couple Fire mons I use are constantly at a severe disadvantage, it's also that the rain really kills the framerate. Like, we can speed up the game now but doing so in some areas during rain rather slows you down because the performance goes to hell. In addition every battle dragons on some more seconds due to the rain animation/text, which adds up in the long run. edit: Oh and not to forget the improved TMx usage. Surprised that this HM crap isn't dealt with in Reborn. Especially when the game's higher difficulty and level cap demand a more rounded team I find it near inexcusable that I've got to screw some mon with cut, rock smash and co. HM slaves are the worst. Well, I expect Reborn to do away with that natively eventually, considering how damn well designed it is overall. Until then, I'll gladly use mods like this one.
  7. Yeh, after having just played through Rejuvenation and encountering the same issues as in Reborn, I'm getting kinda annoyed at it. Not much people can do as few are capable of writing their own custom pokemon game engine but, damn, it's kinda pathetic that you can run these games on a fairly powerful PC and still the framerate and fluidity just dies when it rains and so on. The lack of 'smoothness' is probably my largest general concern with all these (RPG Maker) fangames. I mean, even the basic scrolling when hardly anything is going on is still stuttering. It's a real bummer because even though Pokemon really doesn't require a high framerate for gameplay's sake, fluidity is king for me even just for the visuals' sake. I'm rather impressed by how good some of these fan devs make the games look otherwise and I can only hope someone provides a modern engine that does them justice via stable, high framerates. I'm not that well-versed in all the different Pokemon fan games, though. Are there any non-RPG-Maker ones that shine on the performance side?
