Mar Tears the book apart into a pile of Gold Leaf and Paper. Channeling both, He (16, 12) finds that the Gold creates Solar Light Mana, and (18, 17) the Paper creates a green liquid mana which quickly turns a foul pitch black from either ink or eldrich power. Either way, the results are known, and Mar binds the gold and paper in twine. He also tests the wood the book was made of, (8, 20) and the Mana is another liquid green at first, but then it too turns black as pitch or tar. "This is problematic. I do not want to let these manas dissipate, if the book is as foul as you believe." Mar does not seem to have a problem holding the black Mana in his mental grip yet.

"Waiting I suppose." Next, Mar checks Obsidian's Mana Type, Channeling mana into the obsidian biface. (10, 19) A small rivulet of magma appears on the obsidian's surface, cracking it and wasting a charge, it seems this mana type grows magma on obsidian. Mar uses the obsidian shard that broke off to experiment further. (18, 11) The next experiment has Mar using Obsidian Mana on a piece of Heartless Armor Fragment, Transmuting the Fragment into an Iron Volcanic Glass fragment, Nearly pitch black and green in color, it is too small to be of any use to Mar.

"Not Smithing at all young one, It is actually closer to Flintknapping, if you are aware of the term. Many consider it to be more primitive than smithing, but they do not have the benefit of generations of knowledge and training. Our Eldest Craftsmen were said to be able to shatter a marble block into a living thing, theirs skills were so heightened. And of course, any blade I make will be superior to that of a mere smith, it's planes hardened to near invulnerability, and it's edge sharp enough to split fine grains of sand."

"It works better with a rock and some leather gloves, I don't like hurting my fists in my old age after all, I'm over 20 years old after all." "Those with more vigor often do so though, yes. Or at least, they break them with Twisting and Bending rather than striking." "I remember one fellow who would twist metal blades to crack screws and threading into the part he twisted." Mar nods.

"Greetings, it seems our numbers swell." (9, 5) Mar is struck with a touch of inspiration, And this time, Channels mana into the skin of his hand, creating a clear liquid mana which looks just like sweat. It seems to provide very minor protection, like a liquid barrier. "I bear the arts of my tribe, I can strike an object with such precision as to perfectly fracture it in any way I please, and can do so to any tangible thing through my body's magic, be it Magic, Matter, or the Elements."

"You look Young for your age." Mar hums, Channeling. He cracks off the ruined adamantine blade, and Channels it next. (16, 5) The adamantine ore mana seems to reduce the effects of the Square Cube law, making Large things function as though they were smaller. (8, 3) He then Tests Adamantine Ore>Heartless Metal Armor, resulting in a Solid Mana which becomes more durable and dark the larger the mana is.

"In my youth, I was known to frighten caravans with traps to trick them into leaving behind sundries, but that has been years ago." Mar shrugs, Channeling Mana into one of the Armor Plates to check it's mana type. (9, 17) The Result is a Jagged Shard of Solid State Mana, It, on it's own however, rather fragile and smokey, blue in color, with black tinges. (13, 7) Mar then channels this solid mana into the beer bottle glass, creating Black Hard Light Mana, a mana which emits a weightless Hard UV light. (12, 3) Channeling THIS mana into the Armor Fragment, Mar creates a piece of Mana which is a Solid Darkness Mana, which emits a purple light. To an onlooker, they would see purple and black glows and flashes floating around Mar in globular and jagged shapes, as they pass between and through the glass disk and an Armor Fragment.

(19, 3) That's more like it! the Glass Suddenly glows a bright white, like a lightbulb, It also appears to have some other effect, the result of trace amounts of iron in the glass. Mat Floats this ball of glowing mana around, getting a feel for it, before reshaping it into a sort of faint hologram, white in color. "We have been brought here to kill fell beasts, You have arrived right after we slew and dismantled the metal machine that was producing the dark beasts that beset the town who bid us to do so, and we are now inside of some other machine, whose innards look like a fine castle." As he speaks, Mar makes the Light Mana arrange itself into still images to go along with his short summery. "And now It appears we have the chance to move forward. We should try to clear what appears to be boxing us in."
