  1. "Do you think that, or are you TRYING to think that?" "That is how you nudge it a short ways on the ground, if I might be blunt." "The method by which I would do such a thing, is find a method that I believe makes it act like that." "Like the layer of magic that I have coating my skin. It is able to interact with magic, and thus, I can shape it by hand, or use my willpower to have a hand of magic do it for me." "It's complicated, and underthinking it is usually the solution."
  2. "Very good, one's own mind is the source of control, so methods like that make controlling magic easier in spades." "I know not how it works for others, but for my own magic, That is an excellent attempt." Mar summons up a third sphere, this one is for himself, and it falls to the ground like a rock. "It does what you think it is supposed to, and thus is tangled in rules from observations." "Lilya believes it solid, and so it is thus, Andre observes her, and believes it further." "In my own world, Ignorance can lead to such things as people who hold magic in their own two hands, or Magic being as heavy as a rock when you think it aught to." Mar says, pointing at the mana on the ground, and the mana in Andre's hands, both of them acting completely differently, but being exactly the same. "For magic from oneself, it is even stronger, My own magic is mine, I don't control it, because it does not even possess that level of resistance." "It's no more difficult to wield my magic than it is to wield my hands." Mar pauses. "While I am on the topic, if any of you come across any substances, I would appreciate a sample of them, Gems, Pure Substances, Chemical Compounds, all of them allow me to do more with my magical power through attunement."
  3. Mar pauses. "Oh, Sure, My apologies." Mar summons another sphere of the crimson magic, tied closely to the heart, and by extension, willpower and intention itself.
  4. "You might be surprised to hear this." Mar places his own hand over the crimson sphere, and it passes through his hand as he closes it, changing color. "But you did better than you think." He says, demonstrating that the magic was not physical at all, and the act of moving it to the ground by hand would have been an instance of manipulating it, judging from how his own passed through it like it were a spectre. He looks very pleased. "I hope everyone learned something useful today." "I have a grindwheel to attend to." Mar says, nodding to the group and starting to stalk off to the Smithy.
  5. "A bit of Backstory first, The four broadest types of magic user in my world are as follows." "There are Wizards, who use special words and movements to control their inner magic, Channelers, who control their inner magic with sheer force of will, Bards, who use words and gestures to control the magic in the air, and Psychics, who use their sheer force of will to control the magic in the air." "This test proves your potential in Channeling and Psychic ability, since you are going to try and control my magic, which is neither the blend of all magic around you, nor magic from within yourself." "Secondly, the mana used for this test will be that of Crimglass, Mana from my world changes form when it touches any new matter, starting with the air, referred to as "Thaumic", followed by it being passed through or over other substances to change it further. Like a Passcode." Mar summons up a ball of mana, which is nearly invisible, and looks like a heat shimmer in the air. In his other hand, he holds a small red piece of glass, red in color. The heat shimmer passes into the glass, turning bright crimson red as it becomes a glowing ball of light. This sphere of blood red magic then sits in Mar's Hand again. "Crimglass Attuned Mana, I have found, is strongly responsive to willpower. This is a formality, as I am sure you can do as you please with that." "Afterwards, I will have you move a sphere of Iron Mana, which bears the power of kinetic energy, but does not have the same "Training Wheels" as Crimglass." Mar summons up another sphere, and forces it to touch a piece of iron from that same sack he dug the glass splinter from, it becomes a cyan ball of glowing light. He holds both of them up and in front of her. "There is quite literally no wrong way to do it. Simply will it, and they will react. Simply intend it, and it will be so." The Spheres sit there, Floating like polished glass, glowing with a fuzzy light. "Examine them however you will if you wish to do so before you attempt, do whatever strange actions you think will help. Understanding something helps manipulates it, after all."
  6. "No, I am currently handling other tasks, I simply wished to know who was willing." "In my own world, the idea of something that could not use magic is antithetical, any more than something that could not use water, or air." "Especially considering how one can bring magic under their control with willpower from their souls, even if their souls did not produce it, and even metal machines could manipulate it through simple physical processes like air intake and whatever nonsense that Psychics and Bards have come up with for manipulating ambient mana." "Perhaps I can test some people's Aptitude for Channeling, it requires a mind and nothing more, If I might be honest."
  7. --Servant's Hall-- Mar leaves, looking for stouter and saner persons to recruit to his ends. He makes his way to the Servant's Quarters for that purpose. "Greetings, I am looking for strong people to help me dig trap holes so we can get food for later." "It seems everyone has been giving the food they had to Aurora."
  8. Mar approaches Vora and the others, having finished his task. He looks at the tense atmosphere. "So, what have I missed this time?"
  9. --Alexandria-- The shark moves to roughly the center of the camp. A blue barrier emerges from it, wallowing the portal and the surrounding area in a defensive shield, crackling with modified blue eco. "Arrangements can be made to bring it here, and assure that your assets are undamaged. As we mentioned."
  10. Mar pauses. He turns, stopping his work, and explains. "By what I know, you have been brought here to save a lot of worlds from a deadly and monstrous type of foe, one that threatens all creation, and which somehow, we are able to combat." "I believe you were brought here by some sort of teleportation? I do not know what it's exact nature is, I'm neither a Mundanus nor a true Magic User." "We are currently near Val Habar, a desert city in a world filled with massive beasts which are hunted for safety and profit. More specifically, you are near The Castle, a vehicle we found and repaired, which has the ability to travel the void between worlds, allowing us access to places plagued by our true adversaries, and places where we can grow in strength and scope to be better prepared to fight them." "Even more specifically, you are outside, where I am sorting these cannon parts for when our Technologically minded friends return from their own trials in other worlds."
  11. "Dusty... Twisted... Mangled... Only a bit mangled... I can't tell what this is anymore..." Mar meticulously sorts each part by hand, he seems to be a very patient person, in direct contrast to his impatience previously. It may be a different factor that leads to behaviors like that from him. In any case, there he sits, Setting parts to either side in an increasingly high pile.
  12. When outside, Mar begins to separate Parts into two piles, in one, anything that looks simply unusable, just completely ruined and unredeemable. In the other, things that aren't just completely worthless. "Could you bring out more loads while I do this? Working together, we can finish sorting these into useful and useless."
  13. Mar is forced to dodge, at over 100 tons, he would be crushed to paste instantly. "I'm too old for that, sadly." "I came because whatever you are about to do with those, we should sort the parts first and foremost. Divide up the usable parts from the worthless detritus." "Might I suggest we take it outside?"
  14. Mar Tracks down Andre, Deciding that if he can't dissuade Andre, he should help him. Provided he finds him, Andre would almost certainly note his approach.
  15. At the same time, Mar gets the distinct stomach-sinking feeling that Andre is about to do something asinine with those literal tons of Cannon parts, which in a logical world, take up more space than the entire hallway itself. He shakes his head, of the impossible geometry going on, and continues into the bedroom. He cracks the mattress, removes the filling, and replaces it with Magmastone. He also fills the entire room with it in general, along with some Lava Stones in places where it will be interesting. He puts a barrel of Humansafe Ale in there as well, it can crack it open for it's inevitable Hangover. He leaves, leaving the door open, and hanging a sign around the Glavenus's Neck that says "Don't Kill me, Contact Mar if I get Uppity." That will be hilarious when it eventually tries to slaughter an actual intruder, he thinks..
  16. "I decided it was too much trouble to put traps in the castle, so we're going learn from it, and it will learn from us, and we will give it it's own room, and bad people have to go through that room." "Booze and horrible mangling are the Orcish way after all, according to some humans." An absolutely vulpine grin crosses Mar's face when he says this. He uses his shield, loading the Monster- He'll call it Bladewall, for now, as it's stance reminded him of the Orcish shield of the same name, onto it, and dragging it towards a servant bedroom. Mar and Andre likely cross paths just as he thinks about the weird shit Mar leaves laying around everywhere, spotting the giant piss drunk magma dinosaur he is dragging behind him.
  17. Mar cracks open the stewbrew, being made of a godbug, bone marrow, and a steak, it should serve nicely as feed for now. He pounds his chest lightly, implying it's strong flavor. He feeds all three Servings to the Glavenus, or until it is satisfied.
  18. "Got Meat water here, got more in there. Going hunting soon for normal meat, after that, Mar getting more meat with special metal rocks." Mar lifts his Orcish flask of stewbrew, 3 servings worth in there. He points towards the castle. Finally, he points towards the open desert. "Hungry?"
  19. "Giant Artificially Genetically Altered Bees. Only the Queen needs to die, but they surround themselves with other modified creatures. Moire importantly, The Queens are merely imitating life, and are actually *STATIC*. A far more dangerous threat, which has been draining the planet of it's Precious Eco Since we were here last." "They cannot be allowed to leave this place. Killing the Primary Queen would result in the lessers dying, but this is impossible for the resources we are willing to expend." "You would be required to kill one of these Lesser Queens."
  20. "I used my power to ask everything for the best you." "There is some Glavenus in everything." "I made special glass to put lots of power from around into your body." Mar gestures to the area around him when he says "Around". His posture might make the Glavenus think of a really old creature, scarred and tired, but infinitely deadly for having survived so long.
  21. Mitsu is able to help out, somewhat, and reaches the party in record time, flying up and into the corridor with the rest.
  22. "When the danger is planet wide, not falling into peril at a given location does not lower the danger level." "Specify the location of your Subordinates. My assessment assumes that the Precursor Race has abandoned facilities here due to unassailable threats which cannot be guaranteed to be isolated on planet." "This portal and your presence demands that we remove you if you fall between the power levels of local wildlife and the power level needed to survive and prevent assimilation or breach of quarantine." "The Test consists of causing the destruction of this unit, or causing the destruction of an instance of the threat, either through given transportation to a nesting site, or pheromonal and tonal attraction." "Certain conditions may be met by this unit if they do not result in corruption of test results." Combat Screen
  23. --Alexandria-- (1d20+6 Verses 1d20+???=6+6 Verses 2+???=12 Verses ???) The shark rushes forward, heedless of Alexandria's Words, then, abruptly, it rises up, breaching the surface and revealing that it is indeed a robotic landshark It Promptly raises up even further, revealing something like a shrine, embedded in it's underside, a Metal Statue with glowing eyes and a large probuscus-like mouth sitting within the cavity. "This place was abandoned for a reason, Danger levels are beyond estimated thresholds for singular entities, evacuate immediately, or pass the test." "Do you comply. What Methods facilitate compliance." It sits there, upright and embedded in the hard earth. Combat Screen
  24. "I have discovered Mind, Sight, Breath, Force, and Willpower Magics by attuning my mana to various substances, I am satisfying my curiosity, seeing if I can produce a spirit from them with my own willpower and thoughts." "My magic works by becoming a new form with each substance it touches, provided it touches one other than the one it is currently touching, including air. Therefore, the more substances I test, the more magic I discover." "This is it at it's most basic, since I know neither words of power or gestures of manipulation, I must essentially work mana with none of the tools that make it simple to do so." He pauses, then shakes his head apologetically. "If none of that made sense, I am trying to make a short lived lizard from my energy in this ball here." "And now I have grown bored of doing that. Follow Me if you wish to see something intriguing." Mar stalks off to the Smithy, dismissing the Orb into the air mindlessly. He grabs a Fossil, looking ancient and dusty, and takes off his ring. He then makes his way outside, and begins channeling magic into a small silver disk, which forms into a dazzling glass, glittering light shooting off of it. He forms this into a giant ring, the size of a crop circle, which is lifted up onto sandstone pillars. Light and energy flow from the ring to the center of the empty space. Mar walks underneath them, not heeding the intense light and humming sound coming from them. He makes several smaller rings, propped up on their own pillars. The glow intensifies until there is a small disk of light in the center, blindingly bright, and deafeningly quiet. Mar raises a pillar of sandstone slowly, placing the Fossil and his Ring on the dais. The sandstone pillar rises up, and when it touches the disk, a bright flash explodes from it, glowing green light floods the landscape, as a long lost beast breathes life again. Energy Becomes Flesh. Flesh becomes a Body. The Body becomes a Living thing. What is left is a gargantuan beast, taller than most of the tallest men, and longer than a car. It's body is covered in blazing magma, and the glass rings sag from the heat, draped over the pillars, which crack. Mar does not even have to break the rings, due to them breaking themselves. He however, is blasted in the process by errant beams of raw magic from this world's ambient field, as he blasts his way out of the circle. As the Lensite melts into the sand, it loses it's properties, turning into a simple crater. It strikes Mar, that thankfully, it isn't actually the creature doing this, despite it's fearful appearance, but rather, his magic circle had overloaded, obliderating it's internal structure as various types of sand mana interfered with the magic flow, and disintegrated the lensite's properties. What is left is a Lizard, awkwardly perched on a sandstone pillar far too small for it's large feet. Albiet one with various red glowing parts, and a thoroughly confused demeanor. Mar walks up to it, cooling the glass with Spinel mana, leaving orbs of stolen heat in his wake, he takes out his boomerang, and activates it's special power. Eavesdroppers would hear either rumbles or sub-vocal noises, fit for a godzilla film. "I brought you back from death, mighty one." "I will answer your questions."
  25. "I greet you." Mar waves, looking friendly enough. His other hand has some sort of deep crimson orb in it, glowing and warping in shape. Other colors can be faintly seen in it. He looks very intent on the sphere, leaving his attention split.
