Apparently doors are optional in Suikoden 2.

yep... I always liked grinding to level 60+ near the beginning of the game, pretty easily.
Just go to the giant Gate at the Wall (on the world map) and push it back. (it's a MASSIVE IRON GATE - how could you possibly just push it back??)
there are 'easy' late game enemies behind the wall that give great EXP.
