Whenever someone is given a position of power over another, they are more than likely to abuse it. That is human nature at work. You can't be surprised when you find corruption in a city's police force or a province's government, nor can you be surprised when that person or group in a position of power gets upset when their perks are about to be taken away from them. With the police, it's hard to find a balance in what they can and can't legally do to do their jobs. Give them too much leeway and it's easier to be a dirty cop. Give them too little privilege and they won't be able to protect the law as effectively.

Never regret your decisions. You really have no idea how happier you'd be if you changed your decision yo go with the girl, so there is no use regretting it.

TL;DR much Darvan? The gay marriage thing is more a matter of equality. There was no logical reason to deny same-sex couples marriage. Of course marriage is, in my opinion, a hassle and not worth the benefits it may provide (I am actually ignorant to the perks of being married, sue me). You don't need to marry someone in order to love them and live your life with them (at least in modern countries like the US). This whole gay marriage issue is very much like the issue of topless women we had in Canada a while back. To summarize, men could be topless in public but it was indecent exposure if women were topless in public, so women protested for that freedom and they got it. Of course, one of the biggest reasons they fought for this was gender equality. After the protests there hasn't been a single topless woman that I've seen in public. It's all a matter of principle.

Move to Canada, our police force is nicer if only by a little bit.
