  1. I always thought mega sableye would look more like Chaos Zero from sonic adventure. I really want to see a mega Haxorus, it deserves a megAlution for many reasons... I also think politoed and the remaining starters all deserve a mega
  2. I would be more disappointed if deserving characters got left out again

  9. I wanted to talk about some of the games I put on my "runner up" list that deserve some spotlight. Today I want to talk about an Idie game I played this year. Its called... Do you like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, No More Heroes, or God of War? How about Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, Symphony of the NIght, or Dawn of Sorrows? Or mayhaps you are a Megaman fan? You'll love this game if you enjoyed any of the following games! Guacamelee not only Builds off from the following games, but plays homage to some of them! This game also celebrates Mexican Culture using Luchadors and Dia de los Muertos themes which is what initially attracted me to the game. Lets start the review! The Story The game is about a nobody farmer named Juan Agate. He always wanted to be something to aspire, but never had the opportunity nor the ability to live up to his dream. One day an evil Matador or Bull Fighter rolls into town and kidnaps El Presidente's daughter. Juan who secretly loves her (of course) tries to save her... He fails miserably =( Juan then Discovers a magical Luchador mask that gives him the power to travel between the worlds of the living and the dead. Overall the story is generic and nothing new, but it is how it is told that makes it interesting. You have an alternate ending you can receive by finding all of these collectible mask artifacts. However I personally really enjoyed the "bad" ending to the game, it fit the theme of the game really well. It was also something that most stories should try telling, not just video games could learn from this game's "bad" ending. The Characters we have two characters to cover, the Protagonist and the Villian. The Protagonist is Juan Agate. I told you his backstory, but now how does he perform as the Heroine? He is a Silent protagonist with a pretty simple likable design, but when your a Luchador punching Zombie Skeleton monsters in the face. You don't need a major personality really. The Villian is called Carlos Calica. He is a man who literally cheated the Devil and plans on taking over the world. He is a pretty generic villain, but his design also makes up for it. The Presentation For a 2D Indie game, it looks amazing and very lively! Fans of the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis Era of Graphics will fall in love with Guacamelee's art style! Its colorful and full of flavor. The difference between the Living and the Dead worlds are also enjoyable to look at. The music isn't half bad at as well. When I first heard it, i thought it was a bit bland, but as I listened more to it, I found it quite captivating. It also got better as you played more in the game... here is an example The Gameplay The Gameplay is obviously the highlight of this game. There is alot of emphasis in it's Platforming, Combat, and Exploration. The Platforming is some of the most clever platforming I have ever played ever. I will probably be flamed for this... but games such as Mario and Sonic don't hold a candle to this game XD. Juan controls similar to how X does in the Megaman X games and has to surpass various traps and obstacles using his mobility, smash bros style dodges, and his ability to travel between the world of the living and the dead. You actively use all 3 mechanics to pass through the different platforming section and you will be surprised with how clever the developers, Drinkbox got with this game The Combat is very compo happy like most modern Hack and Slash or Beat-Them-Up games like Devil May Cry, but you will have some Super Smash Brother Vibes coming out of this game. Juan has Tilts and B special moves, just like how the characters in Smash do. One thing that i give Drinkbox props for is varying the different battles you encounter in the game. Enemies get diverse and Arenas get more clever as you play through the game, Towards the end the game even forces you to make use of your world traveling powers to make the game more challenging in some very intelligent ways. Final element of discussion is the Exploration. You will get lots of Metroid Vibes off of this part of the game. The game even makes reference to this! You will explore different parts of the overworld finding and collecting Power Ups to increase your health and stamina. Every now and then you will find rare Choozo Statues (haha get it? Choozo, Chozo? i give up) to gain new powers and skills that make Juan even more powerful of a hero. These skill aren't only useful in combat, but used in your platforming sequences as well. The Verdict Though the Story and Character Traits are Generic, the theme and clever game design make up for it Tenfold! I loved playing Guacamelee, my only real nitpick with the game is the length... the game was disappointingly short. If Drinkbox ever made a sequel, I would grab it Day 1. These developers struck gold with this new IP and I won't be forgetting this game anytime soon, That is why it is placed 3rd on my Game of the Year list... I deem the game an overall score of... B+ 8.8 Disappointingly short, but hella fun to play. The game might have scored higher for me if there was more game to play, the DLC so far has been severely lame. There is Co-Op... but fuck that noise, I was happy with the Single player as it was... This is Glorious Godot, the Superior GG, Signing out!
  10. Guacamelee! It is on PS3, Vita, and steam
  11. Wii U has Smash 4, Bayonetta 2, and The Wonderful 101 Xb1 has killer instinct and sunset overdrive Ps4 has Infamous 2nd son Though ps4 has only one exclusive that I am looking forward to, it's future and promises get my vote. The one that is tied for me is the Vita and 3ds. I can't decide between the two

  14. we are almost into week 2 of 2014 i was planning on posting a "whats your game of the year?" Topic... and i thought... why not do a belated review of my GotY? well what is it? so where do i start.... how about... The Story Without spoiling anything, the game is about Protagonist Booker Dewitt and his adventure to New Columbia. The city is quite literally in the clouds. You venture there in search of a young girl named Elizabeth and deliver her to a mysterious client. I don't want to spoil to much about the story, but the ending will blow your mind a little bit. The Characters You have 3 important characters in this game and tons of random side ones... lets cover the important ones! First off we have the main protagonist, Booker Dewitt. He is a surprisingly not silent "hallow" protagonist with a decent amount of personality who doesn't overshadow the morals and choices of the player. Booker is a protagonist done right, he is simple and easy to relate to, and doesn't overshadow the rest of the cast in the game. And what I mean by Hallow is that the player is supposed to insert their personality into Booker himself. Next we have the main Supporting Role Elizabeth. Elizabeth is an easy to like character, which honestly kind of surprised me. She is enjoyable to talk to, filled with personality, and more importantly, doesn't get in your way in Combat. I will get into that later. A lot of people I talked to about the game believed that she was the lifeblood of the game, personally I was won over by the atmosphere, but i will touch on that later as well. Lastly we have Comstock, the main Antagonist. Comstock rules over New Columbia and has essentially created a new religion with him being God. Comstock isn't the best villain i have ever seen, but he did leave a lasting impression on me. it is interesting how he has built up New Columbia in his favor. The Presentation The Game's Overworld and artstyle is some of the most beautiful I have ever seen in a video game. First moment you set your eyes on New Columbia, you mind will be blown by it's visuals. Another fun thing about New Columbia is that the world isn't post apocalyptic like how some other games in this genre. The city is full of life and is doing fairly well. When you first arrive, you will notice that your in the middle of a "county fair" time of year. Another thing this game does well is provide good cinematography. Most games don't aim for those kind of things. The Developers goal is to "Wow" you and well... they sure Wow'd me. The Last thing I want to cover is the music in the game. there is alot of good stuff in here, ranging from the "oldie" tunes you hear on the radio, to the more Dynamic Music heard in the climatic moments in the game the music is a real good mood setter. The Gameplay Last and most important part of any Video Game is the Gameplay itself. This is a First Person Shooter, your provided with many "Steampunk" Era guns in one hand and super power esque abilities in the other. The guns are pretty straight forward and get the job done, but the abilities make the game so much more fun. Some abilities are more powerful than others, but that doesn't alter the experience in many negative ways in my opinion. Some aspects of your abilities are easy to take advantage of unfortunately. As stated before how does adventuring with Elizabeth impact your adventure? She is quite helpful actually, she has the ability to open rifts in time to summon forth special help to assist you in combat. She will also occasionally throw you ammo when you need it most... which is a slightly broken and manipulative mechanic. It can be possible to go through the game with the most powerful gun you can find using this feature. You also have the ability to ride Skylines to maneuver around Columbia, which is a lot more fun than it looks. My only nitpick revolving this overworld is that it is linear compared to other "shock" games. Which I didn't mind, I was more, meh towards it. The last thing I wish to highlight is the enemy design. besides the normal boring "human" enemies, you had quite a few interesting "boss" or "miniboss" type monsters that were quite interesting to fight. the game didn't have any of the "best bost fights ever" for me, but the overall experience of these enemies were quite enjoyable. My personal favorites were the "Patriots" which were Iron Mechs maded to look like America's Founding Fathers such as George Washington and Abe Lincoln. The Verdict Like I said, this is my game of 2013 and don't have to many bad things to say about it. I just had a problem analyzing the game without spoiling the story for you guys. The point of a review is to alert the readers of a good game so that they can tempted to go out and try it out for themselves. (and if you have PS+ you will be getting the game for free soon) The Story will haunt your everyday life, the Characters will stick with you, the Environments are beautiful, the music fits the mood so well, and the gameplay isn't my favorite, but It is hella fun... my overall Verdict iiiiiiis..... A 9.5 my personal nitpicks revolve 2 things... 1. manipulative game mechanics. 2. Boss fights didn't really Wow me, even though the game was really well thrown together what was your Guy's Game of the Year? inb4 pokemon x and y here is my list of Runner up games
