  1. That was one heck of a fight! It's interesting to note that with Stockpile on Belly, all but one of his mons are setup-based.

I want to be optimistic, but Shelly's next up, and she's imo one of the game's hardest fights. I can't wait to see T3 meet the orphan crew or the gang sidequest, though.

  2. several months ago, I lucked out on the mystery egg sidequest and got Larvesta. Now, I'm grinding to get ready for Noel, and once I beat him, I can finally evolve my boy. I'm already pretty sure what moves he'll need (Quiver Dance, Fiery Dance for Samson, Signal Beam for Luna but Bug Buzz afterwards, and maybe a Recovery move like Morning Sun or an extra offensive option in Hidden Power) as well as EVs (252 SpA/4 SpD/252 Spe). So, my question is, what's the best place for me to get those EVs? Where do you all go to train special attackers before Radomus? and is there anything about this mon that I'm missing? Lastly, what do you think of team options for volcarona? My guess is that my prankster/dual screens Meowstic may be enough for now, but as Meowstic's actual stats fade into irrelevance, I'm looking for a stronger screens setter, and possibly a hazard setter to meake sweeping easier.

    Thank you for your time.

  3. @Maqqy god will have to pry this shattered brick from my cold dead hands. I mean literally, the cracks in the bottom of the screen of this sucker are so bad doing curveballs in GO gets painful after a while. I have bought one (1) new phone in my life and I'm gonna make it last lol. Besides, Bluestacks is cheaper.

  4. @Autumn Zephyr That's a great help. Mawile does have a lot of good tools for how bad it's stats are. I'll definitely pick it up when I next play rejuvenation.

As a massive steel type fan, I actually really adore Mega Maw for really making something out of Mawile's amazing typing and design. I also really really love it's play pattern as a super slow Pokemon that uses Sucker Punch to KO before anyone can act.

Ofc, I wouldn't expect one of the game's strongest non-legendary megas to be available in Reborn, except maybe at the very very end. Using mega-maw to take down Lin's Pulse Fuck You (or whatever her real ace is) would be sick, but totally unnecessary.

@Vinnie true, powercreep comes for us all. DM Necro really did a number on the metagame, didn't it?

  5. At first glance, Mawile seems thoroughly unimpressive. It has an excellent fairy/steel typing but an abysmal 380 bst, and it needs to be bred or use a move relearned to get its stab moves before level 45-49, right at the end of it's level up list. And yet, it's relatively late in the game for its apparent power. In Reborn, it is first available after the orphanage escape, after Shelly's gym battle, at level cap 40. In Rejuvenation, Mawile is available after the jailbreak arc, around level cap 45. I just thought this was something about being sentimental, since at least in Rejuvenation's case Mawile has story significance, but then I found it in someone's signature for their rejuv team. Is Mawile actually more useful than I had thought? Or should it, at least in reborn's case, be available earlier?

  6. Man, this thread freaking died, didn't it?

Team Go Rocket launched recently, and as a new player I find it decently fun. I wish it paid the way gyms did, though, and raids always seem to happen during class time.

Ironically, I'm also at the ditto quests. haven't found one yet but I'll keep looking.

  7. Here you go. Keep in mind that I'm only just entering Chrysolia Forest, so I don't have the cap to evolve Larvesta yet, that the Klang is 700 exp away from evolving. Mons along the bottom are past team members plus a Prankster/Perish Song Murkrow I just got last night.

    Main Team:

Meowstic "Evan"--named after a friend from high school who had this mon as his favorite, prankster dual screens+fake out is so, so useful.

Decidueye--Fern, eat your heart out. I love Sucker Punch.

Camerupt "Behemoth"--about to leave the main team, as soon as I can evolve Larvesta. Long history of terrain changing moves with Lava Plume and Flame Burst. dealt heavy damage to Aya with Earth Power. Designated Nature Power user. current main fire check.

Granbull "Brutus"--Specializes in OHKOing things, like the Pangoro in the scraggy quest and Kiki's Lucario (with close combat), helped killed Solaris's Garchomp along with Cleo and a lvl 28 Solrock after tanking a hit from it at -2 atk

Klang "BruteJustice"--Soon to be Klinklang, who carried me through nearly every meteor segment (factory field FTW) and beat the aces of both Florina and Corey solo. Rock Smash user.

Ampharos "Sy"--Para spreader for captures, Power Gem+Swift Swim Floatzel carried me through Shelly

    Rotation:

Gastrodon "Shelly"--the whole "Mub Bomb vs. Aya" plan didn't work out, but mud type+HP psychic meant it tanked like 8 sludge waves and did decent damage at the same time.

Scrafty "Hooligan"--new addition, a little underleveled, HJK is fun. Strength user.

Cofagrigus "Cleo"--chain-bred toxic spikes onto her, still trying to finish getting max defense EVs, dealt the finishing blow to Gchomp from beyond the grave using Curse.

Larvesta "Lanque"--baby of the bunch, still level 1 so I can train him as quickly as possible.

Also: Every pokemon in that box that could have intimidate does. I just think it's neat.

My general fighting style is to set up a bunch of teamwide buffs/debuffs (intimidate/screens/tspikes) so I can swap to a better defensive type without sacrificing my advantage.

Minor Edit: since the time of posting I've gotten Trapinch and gotten her all the way to a level 39 Vibrava! Chrysolia forest is AMAZING for offensive EV training! Flygon will do the other half of replacing Camerupt, since it resists fire and knows Earthquake and Rockslide. She's definitely a lot more aggressive though!

  8. @Nicocchi oh man, that's super helpful, thanks! I honestly believed that Wormadam somehow got QD much later than that. The idea of a Quiver Dance sweeper in early reborn is almost enough to make me drop my current run right now!

...almost. I struggled with keeping a run long enough to get out of reborn city for *years*, so I'm gonna try and take this one all the way to the end. Anyway, thanks again. I'll be sure to swing by if I have more questions.

  9. I think he'll read the Ame terminal at least--she's his waifu, after all 😛

yeah but seriously I really hope he leads with Jacques or something, just so Sand Tomb doesn't immediately douse his tiki torch.

also I wonder what he'll say to the longest battle text line in the game:

x used nature power! Nature power turned into sand tomb! X used sand tomb! The field boosted the attack!
