  1. What about Zygarde?

    What the hell is Marshadow?

    Why these types for Legendaries?

Are we going to a new region?

Zygarde's forms have been released in TGC by now. I do hope they appear in the games at some point, I want to use that dog man.

Marshadow is a supposed 3rd legendary from this new generation of games, according to some. I don't know the full of it but I recall it being like with solgaleo and lunala at first: people realised GF had put copyright over those names and they speculated they might be the names of the new legends. Marshadow was (?) one of the names copyrighted so I think that's all there is to it by now. People speculate that since solgaleo is the sun and lunala the moon, marshadow would/could be the eclipse pokemon.

Solgaleo is based on the "lion eating the sun" from alchemy, a symbol of metals (purification of metals?). Thus the steel typing. My guess for psychic is that it is the type often associated to astronomical bodies like the sun (see: espeon, the psychic type sun pokemon, or cresselia, the psychic type moon pokemon).

Lunala's psychic might have the same origin, while the ghost part might be because of the "beast that calls the moon part". Since the dark type is the evil type in japan and has less to do with the moon than with maliciousness (technically), ghost type is more akin to the "night type", if you will. The moon appears at night, so a ghost type should be able to call the night, thus calling upon the moon. Maybe we'll be getting a weather-like move this gen for eclipses and full moons (-speculation-). Still I say, I would have preffered fire/electric and fairy/ghost (-personal opinion-).

It is unknown at this point, but some people think we might, and that's a cool thought.

  2. I love Raichu, I think it is the coolest pika because it is THE BETTER PIKA. As in, it evolves from literally the mon the whole trope revolves around. Raichu would be the one getting a mega if the line ever gets one, and Raichu has the greater stats, plus a solid ability in lightning rod. It is fast, and thunderbolt hits nicely.

However, between Raichu and Emolga, I can hardly decide. I love both, and emolga has a cool typing. More weaknesses, maybe, but it got Air slash and roost, plus motor drive to negate otherwise neutral electric hits, and is adorable.

I also like plusle and minum because of the positive-negative cheerleader motif, and I like pachirisu because it is a rare fast defensive mon with follow me. I like dedenne because of its unique typing (although it sadly doesn't have much else going on for it), and I kinda like pikachu, but I don't like treating it like it was a different entity to that of Raichu: to me pikachu is just "what evolves into raichu", so that's my level of affection for it.

  3. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Cj8pcabVEAEgB3F.jpg:large

This was found on the Pokemon Website earlier and idk if it was shown here before.

Ash-Greninja is coming. Protect your mega evolutions, children, money, games and asses cuz it's coming for them....

So Masquerain's worse fear is actually becoming true? man, I really hope not, because that kind of evolution (check Az's link if you want spoilers) is kinda meh to me. I mean I already find Ash-greninja cringey, so if that's a thing that we're gonna be doing now.... well.... lol?

  4. Why isn't the Sun legendary a fire type. GAME FREAK! YOU HAVE BETRAYED ME!

There's an explanation as to why solgaleo is not a fire type literally 3 posts above yours.

I wished it was a fire/steel or fire/electric type? sure. But the reasons as to why it wasn't made into one come together when you think about it. After all, they did release a fire lion LITERALLY the last gen. Gamefreak is dumb, but there are rare occasions in which they don't want to copy themselves in consecutive gens.

  5. ... what ... in ... the ... world ... is THAT?!

A humanified(kinda), gijinkafied(kinda), sexified(kinda) trubbish. It's more common than you think, and that's probably one of the most vanilla ones I've seen.

As a curious trivia, trubbish and garbodor are generally hard to make into "appealing" artworks by rule 34 artists, since they are gross-looking by design. Similar thing happens in the cases of Jynx, Mr Mime, Muk and other poison types.

And oh boy don't even get me started on how it comes out when artists do it with malamar. Is so weird it's funny.

I put my answer in a spoiler just because.

  6. Heat Vest:halves damage from fire type moves and is immune from burn but is consumed in the process.

Divine Sphere:Any pokemon with 700 or higher bst gains a boost in its hp stat by 20%.

Wonder Sphere:Negates any and all damage for one turn by all moves abilities and outside effcts but reduces all stat boosts to normal and is consumed in the process.

The first item sounds pretty cool, and I could go as far as to say that even immunity to fire attacks would be acceptable, as the item will disappear after use. It would be a rather awesome surprise item in mons like ferrothorn, scizor or forretress.

Divine sphere is pretty much made just for the following mons: Kyurem black, Kyurem White, Arceus, Rayquaza, and... Mega Rayquaza. Luckily, mega rayquaza with 20% more health should not be as terrifying as it sounds in paper. Arceus on the other hand, with already base 120 HP....

Still, would only be seen in ubers since basically nothing under ubers can use it.

  7. reflected mirror

the user who holds this item is immune to status effects being aimed at them. the percentage of this happening continuously decreases (the protect percentage). it resets only when the pokemon is switched out or when trick is used. if the user who holds this item has a status effect the item cannot be used anymore. moves that have a status effect (ex scald) cannot be stopped.

So basically, and unless the kind of hax that makes double protect is involved, this item takes out the pokemon's item slot just to guarantee a first turn of not being hit by status, and then who knows what might happen on the next turn. Plus once the holder gets statused (which, again, can happen right in the second turn of battle), the item stops working completely. Dunno what to say.

Iron Beak: Item exclusively for Empoleon. It boosts the attack stat by 50%.

    BURD OF HONOUR

Besides, it can finally use an SD set to good effect.

You a madman. But I like it. Empoleon should have gotten the competitive ability, not defiant, but with this item it might actually make some sort of sense for him to have it.

    spirit flame. exclusive to infernape.

when it is held by an infernape. it boosts its fire and fighting type moves by 10%

As someone else said, life orb is better if you don't care about the little recoil each turn. The only infernape variants I can see being better with this item are iron fist mach punch/fire punch, since those are weaker moves, and infernape running those generally doesn't have the bulk to stand losing HP each turn.

Black Pendant - Reduces the damage taken from not-very-effective and normally effective attacks, but increases the damage taken of Super Effective attacks.

An idea I've actually thought up before, because Shedinja is one of my favorite pokemon, for various reasons.

This item's brokeness depends on how much it decreases damage. 50% less damage from neutral attacks? 25%? mind you, that if the item reduces neutral attacks by 50%, it actually means the pokemon holding this RESISTS all the types that previously damaged it normally.

Give it to a bulky normal type like blissey, snorlax or audino, and suddenly they got 16 resistances, 1 immunity and only a single weakness to fighting.

Give it to eelektross. With levitate, ALL moves will be not very effective on this thing. The only attack that hits it SE is mold breaker earthquake.

Ghost ring: allows moves that would not hit ghost type pokemon be able to hit them for neutral damage.

So, scrappy/foresight/odor sleuth as item huh? I like it. Kinda redundant if you can get a strong scrappy user, but so far for all practical purposes I like it.

Choice Shield - Increase defense by 50% but you're locked into using only one move until you switch out.

Death Orb - Your attacks deal 30% less damage but you heal 10% of your total health every time you use a damaging move.

Speed Gem - Raises your speed by 50%, is consumed after attacking

Choice shield is....kinda cool. I could see it helping blissey a lot, but... it would lock her into a single move. Generally, defensive pokemon rely on their wholeset of 4 moves to do their work, and they fail if they get locked into one: that's why choice scarf trick is a thing that works. Here, an item that boosts defense sounds cool, but it generally won't get good use since the things that need it also need their moveslots free. Could be wrong tho, but that's the impression I get.

Death orb. I see where you come from, and its pretty clever on paper, but the item as you describe it sucks very hard. Heals you by mere 10% of your health ONLY when you attack (this item exists already, is called a shell bell), but in top of that, it reduces attacks' power by 30%? So basically when you have to use a status move, this item does nothing for you, but if you attack, you can get walled by mons you should be able to take on. Leftovers outclasses this item.

Speed gem. Now, this one is a good one. Basically gives you a free, first turn choice scarf, and if you give this item to a mon with recycle, you're super fast every 2 turns. Very good item in my opinion

  8. So, a bit of spoiler-based speculation:

The legends sure have.... some interesting typings. Lunaala has a STAB of advantage over solgaleo, somaybe solgaleo will get things like crunch or knock off to counter that.

Psychic/ghost lunaala makes quite a sense, at least the ghost part. Fairy would have given it a STAB moonblast, and cresselia is already psychic, so dunno were they are going with this.

Steel/psychic is common to jirachi, metagross and bronzong, so is not a reason to complain, it isn't that common of a typing. I was expecting fire tho.

Their abilities.... are clear cody with a different name for solgaleo (apparently, it showed to prevent stat reduction in the trailer) and something defensive for lunaala. I didn't get too well what exactly their signature moves do either.

The new rotom form doesn't seem like a playable form, rather just a new pokedex feature. A bit disappointed there.

Right now lunaala seems cooler than solgaleo to me, but none are that quite great. Not until we can see what lunaala's ability and sig move do.

Also, may I point out that signature abilities with edgy name for both mascot legendaries seems like something that got carried from XY. Hope these don't turn out as useless assituational as dark aura/fairy aura are.

  9. pikachu did nothing wrong

Is like Jan said. Pikachu suffers from being the mascot, so it's the mon everyone knows and sadly gamefreak pushes it and throws it into everyone's faces. It harvests the hatred of the most....passionate fans, the same way ANY other pokemon would have if they were picked up as mascot in due time. The fact it is pikachu and not, say, clefable, rhydon or charmander, is irrelevant. In a parallel universe, charizard has been the official pokemon mascot since gen 1 and fans could not be more tired of it by now (#speculation).

Still, this is a reason as valid as any other to hate a mon. Pikachu is literally everywhere, but I personally don't care about it. What I DO wish tho, is that raichu could actually use the light ball, or at least get some screen time.

  10. "Ugh, do we have to? Can't we just leave it to rot like we did with the Magikarp replacement?"

You mean feebas? which evolves into what is currently half of your avatar? o.o ?

Also, I respect your hatred for woobat/swoobat (although it is a bit exaggerated imo), but you bought a 30 dollar game and you didn't play it because of a bat pokemon? a bat pokemon you can ignore or, even better, use repel to avoid? and you say you have white version rotting in your house and you have never finished it past woobat? that's....something.

  11. This little fella

    shedinja.jpg

Wonder Guard could disappear for all I care.

Good luck getting rid of something you can hardly damage.

I dislike many pokemon for one reason or another. Reasons like:

    • Playstyle: I love umbreon, but completely despise the way it works in terms of playstyle. I love gliscor, yet it specializes in that kind of stall that is of the worst kind: hardly counterable. Mega slowbro with calm mind and slack off, mega sableye with w-o-w and calm mind..... all these things play disgustingly, but are all around cool looking mons.
    • Design: mons like Aromatisse, Wormadam or Hippopotas, but they have a potential I can see and find interesting. Hippopotas evolves into Hippowdon after all, which is a cool ground type. Aromatisse could enjoy a cool mega if Gamefreak had any heart, and same applies to Wormadam. Jynx and Mr Mime are so disliked by players is not even funny.
    • Wasted potential: Bayleef is among my fav 2nd stage starters, and I was thrilled about meganium but it never plaid well for me in game. Unown is supposed to be this super cool parallel force of nature when they come together, bun in reality it is as weak as non-imposter ditto and only learns hidden power. Alomomola STILL doesn't evolve from luvdisc. Entei's attack is lower than flareon's. All tiny little details that never really made sense for me personally, and that I can't help but to see as wasted opportunities.

Despite that, all the pokémon I just listed might (and surely are) someone else's favorite, somewhere. If it was in my power to erase someone else's fav pokemon just because I dislike it, I would have a hard time doing so, because the same way others could say Gourgeist is garbage and needs to go, and I would kindly but firmly disagree.

I myself have made some fakemon that I consider cool yet others can't really stand the sights of them. Who am I to say "this other mon is shit it needs to go" then?

I think is not as much about wishing for things to get banned from existance as much as I would preffer to revamp them. Like, give unown an evolution, or better stats, or actual moves. Improve wormadam's stats, or give it better abilities. Mega evolve aromatisse. I would have made primals a little less broken, I would have made mega rayquaza not mega but a primal, I would have kept hoopa unbond a ghost/psychic type, I would raise the stats of Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, Hitmontop, Liepard, Pangoro, Malamar, Persian, ..... so many things I would do, but wishing mons to never exist is not really one of them, at least for me.

  12. especially gen 4, final evos counter each other with secondary typings, no one has the absolute advantages against each others.

Actually, in terms of type advantage only, they're not that well countered. Empoleon's steel is weak against torterra's earthquake but also against infernape's close combat (physical infernape can OHKO max defense empoleon), while it can only hit infernape for SE damage with a water move. Offensively, Empoleon's steel is neutral on torterra and resisted by infernape.

Empoleon depends on ice beam to OHKO torterra, while it can scald or hydro pump infernape... only if it survives the close combat.

Lastly, Infernape is faster than the other two and can potentially OHKO any of them with the right move, meaning based on type only, infernape is the most benefited of this trio.

They're great starters with cool typings, but said typings are far from a perfect rock-paper-scissor system. The closest thing to a good secondary type equuilibrium is in gen VI, with fighting-psychic-dark, the only inconsistency being dark's immunity to psychic instead of just resisting it.

  13. Delphox, my first starter ever, in reborn, my first pokemon game ever. I didn't even know about gen 6 when I picked it, but just looked cute at the time. It proceeded to destroy most gyms with a combination of calm mind, psychic, shadow ball and flamethrower. Delphox is also very cool and beautiful looking imo, never understood why is it that people have something for braixen that they lose for delphox. The whole line looks super cool and is powerful in game.

Second place goes to Serperior, with that super useful contrary and that elegant design.

Third place for me is a tie between chesnaught, cool looking and bulky, and typhlosion, fast and with dat eruption.

Honorable mentions to: bulbasaur, always my pick in all games that go with gen 1 starters, and feraligator, because I love sheer force.

I love all eeveelutions, but if I'm forced to pick, Vaporeon. Always found it very elegant, and I like my mons fat. Vaporeon sets up an acid armor and is the fattest thing ever. Honorable mentions to: sylveon, espeon, umbreon, flareon, jolteon, glaceon and leafeon, in that order.

As for gen 7's, I like the 3 of them but litten is the superior one to me. Popplio will depend on what its final form looks like, and rowlett is cute but the whole internet seems to be obsessed with it, kinda ruins it for me.

I don't think anyone would pick it since most people hate it but, shouldn't pokemon yellow's pikachu count as a starter too?

  14. Wonder guard. I have more than just, y'know, 1HP, and since according to the pokemon test I'm a poison type, as long as I keep my distance with mentalists and miners I should be pretty much indestructible.

Reallistically tho, I would probably like to have cloud nine. I mean I love summer but the heat kills me. Why not enjoy the sun cancelling all other effects of the summer weather, including heat? EXACTLY.

  15. I used to think hoothoot had 2 feet until I saw its official art and then convinced myself that it only had 1. Then through the anime I learned it actually has 2 feet like I thought.

I used to think chinchou had 4 fins, but 2 of them are actually feet. Yeah I don't know why but that's how it is.

I used to think quagsire really had like a dark blue "hotdog"-shaped tail, but turns out the part in the middle is the continuation of its dorsal fin.

I used to think dunsparce's mouth was in the lower part of its face and thus wasn't visible in its official art, but apparently:

110px-Roseanne_Dunsparce.png its mouth is between the yellow and blue halves of its head. That looks so weird to me even to this day.

I just realised (I'm looking at the bulbapedia pokedex to see if I'm forgetting something) that nuzleaf has nipples. Well then.

I used to think duskull had 2 red eyes, but turns out is just 1 red sphere floating inside its skull.

I used to think overcast cherrim was blind because its head was covered by petals, but turns out it has eyes here:

250px-Cherrim_eyes.png just right next to its legs. I still don't know how the head of the sunshine form works.

I used to think hoopa unbound (when it was still a rumor) had only one eye akin to dusknoir, and no visible mouth, but nope, it has 2 eyes.

  16. I have a thick hoody that I make sure to wear as much as possible in winter. It's white with thin purple and black strips, and for some reason I find its color combination hypnotic. It is also reversible, meaning I can wear the inside of it (which is black and purple) as the outside, and sometimes people think they're 2 different hoodies, another reason why I love it, since it saves me time when I'm too lazy to actually pick, you know, different clothes to wear.

This hoody's special feature tho, is that on the right side pocket, it has a hole. A BIG hole, but that it is hardly noticeable from other people's perspectives because of its position. This hole is not the typical hole, that you just put money inside your pocket, it gets through the hole, falls to the ground and you lose your money forever. Nope. This hole is connected to the inner side of my hoody, a wide hollow space that for some reason exists between the outside fabric and the inside fabric. I don't know how this hole came to be, since I'm usually careful with my clothes.

And you might be thinking "what about it?". Well, my hole arm fits inside this hole. I basically have storage room to fit papers, my wallet, my phone, my calculator, pencils, one or two shirts, any kind of bullshit that can fit through the hole to begin with, I can store within my hoody. When I have to walk through a dangerous street, the kind of street where you get robbed at, I put my cellphone inside the hole, and it is basically unfindable and unnoticeable. If I need to carry something but I don't want to hold it in my hands, to the hoody it goes. If I have to carry too many things to hold, half of them will fit inside the hole. In quite a few situations, having the right thing inside this hole at the right time has been incredibly helpful, and thus I have a big soft spot for this hoody.

My mother disapproves of me wearing it because "I look like a hobo" with it, and my friends insist on me sewing the hole up or at least letting them do so. The answer is "no" lol.

TL;DR - My hoody is old and broken but it's mine and I like it.

  17. Yes! Zim, I'm really, really sorry for being such a lazy ass to never reply :/ You are a golden guy, you are one of the creative forces of a project I love and root for, and you are god damn awesome!

I'm just lazy :P Sorry man!

Btw in case you missed it I've put the guessed names on!!!

Lol dont worry about it, I myself am lazy and usually take billions of years to reply to PMs, if I actually see them in time. I plan on catching up with you when I actually get get to read that manga you mentioned, but that will have to be in summer.
