If the heart doesn't change, it will function as the mind should, and the mind vise-versa. Society wants us to think on our selves, and on impulse, rather than objectively and selflessly.
This -is- a problem, particularly in political arenas and societal building - because it causes inconsistency, and it causes selfish viewpoints to affect actions tha that impact others.
Yes. There are two issues "free-thinkers" have with them though - the standard which they are attached to, and having to conform society to them rather than it being relative or open.
