You're seriously saying that a man who was so dangerous that entire artillery units were sent out to kill just him didn't achieve a superhuman feat? As for Samson, you missed two of the conditions: 1) Samson didn't have to deal with unlivable conditions. White Death guy wasn't just in "a blizzard or something" it was freezing temperatures that could easily have killed him. Go stand outside in -40 degrees for an hour, then come back and tell me "anyone" could do it for days on end 2) Samson wasn't just a person, he very specifically had supernatural powers backing him. Which means that he as a person couldn't necessarily have achieved the feat. Now Fate allows for people aided by the supernatural, but that's not the discussion we're having. The discussion we're having is whether or not a normal human aided by nothing more than some training and a gun could kill 5 people a day in temperatures and weather that could easily have been the death of them if they made even the smallest misstep The argument we're having here is whether White Death guy actually qualifies as a normal human or something more. Since you said that any normal human could achieve those things with enough training and dedication. What I'm trying to say is that the level of training and dedication required to achieve these insane feats, to become the greatest fear of an entire army is in itself superhuman Kill ten people in under a minute isn't hard, people do it all the time. Persevering through impossible conditions for months on end all the while undergoing the psychological and physical strain of killing a little over five people a day is hard As for B-17, I didn't put a weapon on the level of a heroic spirit, I put a symbol of the US Air Force's strength and victory in WWII on the same level as other symbols throughout history by channeling it through the pilot of the most famous example of said symbol. I was just following from the quote you said saying that a weapon was more likely to be credited for heroism than the user of the weapon. The quote also said that the weapon needed a soul. And well, the B-17 is the soul of the USAAF so... Also with the Wright Brothers, already started working on them as soon as a I finished B-17... (I'm not that far tho, zo if you can actually make a good servant out of them then I'm fine with giving them up)

It's okay Acqui, Mommo isn't built to dodge, she'll facetank it easily and then blast you point-blank with her laser cannons owo But for srs, auto-hitting Slumbering Giant with a high-speed direct attack when she's been stated by her players to be an extremely immobile mech is completely fair- 317 replies

luckily I rarely drop below 60 FPS. Having to deal with both ping and lag would be terrible
-
TFW I can ply Ori at 300 ping, but my net decides to give me 800 TFW the game before I had 30-40 ping TFW I usually have 90-120 depending on the game League/net why you gotta be so troll?

Captain Robert K. Morgan's crew flew 29 combat missions with the 324th Bomb Squadron, all but four in the Memphis Belle. (Which BTW is a really kewl plane and you should all come see it, and let me know that you're doing so and I'll come watch you look at it in a totally not stalker-like way)

Pokémon Ethics: An Introspective Discussion
Shamitako replied to Ironbound's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
Just one thing real quick IIRC there's an episode in the anime where Team Rocket's Pokemon talk about Pokemon not being bad, only trainers. IDR much more than that, but I thought it worth noting *Boops out*- 39 replies

Tell me, how many people have you heard of who have single-handedly killed over 500 people with a single-target weapon, modern or otherwise? Now narrow that list down to those who did it in extreme conditions (severe cold, heat, monsoons, whatever situation human bodies weren't made for) And then narrow it again to those who did it within a hundred days Does his feat still sound unimpressive to you? Something anyone well-trained with a gun could manage? I doubt there's many, if any at all, Olympic sharpshooters who could do that No, he wouldn't have achieved this feat without a gun, because his talents were perfectly suited to using one. Although I wholeheartedly believe he still could have achieved it with a much older rifle model from the early 1800s Speaking of, the type of gun he used began service before 1900 (1891 to be exact, although I couldn't find a date for the exact model I'm sure he could have manage with another model of Mosin-Nagant) So please, continue spouting nonsense about a 1900 cutoff, it still doesn't matter. These feats were achievable before then, the only reason they weren't is because the war and the warrior that they could be made under weren't conceived before then Oh, and I'd like to point out that this guy was hardly loaded with modern weapons, he used one gun. One simple, bolt-action sniper rifle. Her wasn't some guy carrying around an arsenal that made it so he was basically invincible He was one man with one gun whose very name struck fear into his enemies >_> EDIT: This discussion gave me a terrible yet wonderful idea

Oh there's permadeath. But it's very rare to actually die in the arena. Most of the time your mech will be disabled long before you'd start being injured Due to the power of shenanigans, until a part of your body is exposed, it can't actually be hit. So even if a projectile pierces your armor at the heart, unless your actual chest was already exposed you won't suffer any injury- 317 replies

Ahem: Time doesn't matter worth shit. Before some of the more recent servant releases I probably would have cut that off, but with the GO recent shenanigan-ness I'll be 100% allowing it. I mean there's already a girl from the future and a perfectly alive legendary creature in the pool, what's a guy who just died?
-
Very well then, I shall fill all of the remaining slots myself and invent a second antagonist... Keep in mind that while I'll be putting more plot into this than F/R, I'm largely working as a player myself and any masters or servants I play will be played as if I had no idea what the overall plot would be, even if they themselves are plot devices But that's actually fine, if it gets the RP going I'll play more things. I just gotta finally push out an F/R post first

[IC] ANKL Chapter I: As if a Dream

Haley - Library Haley had remained silent throughout the confrontation. She had seriously considered simply turning and running. But with Arturia standing up for her she felt she needed to stay. Arturia said something about magnets scraping together which caused Natalie's face to turn a shade redder than usual. And then she sat down, giving Haley the sense that it was her turn to speak. "Um, Miss Natalie." She said timidly, "I'm perfectly fine talking to you if you can just be a little quieter and nicer to everyone." Natalie continued glaring at Arturia for a moment before finally releasing her gaze. "No, it's fine, we can talk some other time." She said before storming out of the room. Haley watched the redhead's back worriedly as she strode away. Over the course of the discussion it had occurred to her that Natalie had started to call Haley's elder sister by her proper name, which meant that perhaps she had come to realize who she was. Although knowing what her sister had told her, the stubborn Natalie would probably wallow in denial for a while. Haley shook her head and sighed sadly before sitting back down at the table. "I'm sorry about that guys." She apologized, "I shouldn't have let you get dragged into that, if I'd agreed to talk to her sooner she might not have been as much of a bother. But I didn't realize what she was in such a tizzy over, so her actions surprised me." She lowered her head shamefully and picked up the book she had been reading in an attempt to hide her face. Layla - Dorm Room A Lilith shook her head at the mention of a meal. "No thank you." She said, "I ate not to long ago, that's probably why you all beat me to the room." For a moment she was willing to consider that her silly excuse for being late might ease whatever tensions they might have had with her delay, but her internal moxie quickly faded. It was pointless to think that minor details could change how they all felt about her. She was still waiting for clarification on whether or not her chosen bunk was okay when she noticed that Arya's attention was no longer focused on her but on a pad of paper which she was making markings on. "M-miss Arya?" She said curiously, "Can y-you tell me what you're doing? You seem very focus and I'm c-curious as to what is so in-inter-interesting." -

Well, when talking to the Diviner no, you won't. However there is a point where you'll be allowed to do something akin to an upgrade if you play things right But I should mention that the 17 point mechs the contestants are running are basically the top end of mechs. To get truly stronger requires something more on the pilot side, not the mechanical side All of the god's strengths that make them so much better than the contestants come from some ability that they as a person posses (Bear's ability to sleep through nearly anything, Blink's reflexes)- 317 replies

Psst, Strat, this isn't ToAru, it's game mechanics>physics here The EMP stun counts as an energy attack, so its effects will be lessened. That can mean shorter disable time, less things being disabled, really whatever you two feel will make the most interesting fight Just keep in mind that while you can use physics to justify game mechanics, you can't use it to counter game mechanics Within the continuity of this universe, the mech system is built outside of physics to give pilots extreme freedom with their designs. Even the pilots themselves can sometimes overcome physics when within their mechs. Here's a quote from one of the god's sheets that gives an example of this: (Oh BTW, some of the gods have pretty insane abilities that I would never have let through into the RP. They're almost all on a whole other level from the tournament participants, who are already very, very strong)- 317 replies

[IC] TTG Chapter 1: Sloth
Shamitako replied to Shamitako's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Adam, vs. Strider It seemed Adam's verbal attack had at least some effect, but his opponent wasn't going to be that easy to take down. He had already been prepared for her to dodge, so that wasn't a huge issue. He momentarily reversed his acceleration and shifted his direction to the right. The maneuver set him on a straight course for his opponent once again, but this time she had much less time to get out of the way. The shotgun blast did graze his hull, but it merely scratched the plating. He had to applaud her though. "Hey, nice choice with the shotgun, lots of damage when I go for a head-on charge." He said, "Too bad for you I don't plan on letting you hit me straight on." He quickly elbowed a key on his armrest, extending a ring of sharp blades offset just slightly from his horizontal axis. With such a small gap, he ought to at least be able to graze Strider with the blades, even if he couldn't get a direct hit and tear into her. -

It really depends on the size. Since they're a minor weapon in your case, I'd say three or four would be reasonable Auto-reloading is pretty standard on most projectile weapons. Although things like bullet magazines aren't entirely nonexistent- 317 replies

[IC] TTG Chapter 1: Sloth
Shamitako replied to Shamitako's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Adam, vs. Strider Adam saw Strider priming her guns and grinned., it seemed it was time to start. He opened a comm channel to his opponent. The ability to communicate with your foe was one everyone possessed, but very few actually took advantage of it. Talking was often considered a risk, and was at the very least a distraction. IN Adam's case however, he liked to use it as a way to put his opponent off-balance. In other words, smacktalk was a great way to open up his Signature. "Well this is certainly going to be a long fight." He said, starting out with small talk, "Two mechs both built to annoy FAD builds, chances seem slim either of us is outfit especially to deal with each other. Although your build is quite a bit more common than mine, so I think I have a slight experience advantage there." Right as he spoke the word advantage, his mech revved up and shot straight forward towards his opponent. The oddly designed blue orb rolling at high speed over the wasteland floor. It was more of an attempt to gauge her mental fortitude and see how easily he could catch her off guard than an actual attack. That wasn't to say it wouldn't work as an actual attack, but if she had any chance against him at all, she'd have the mental fortitude to dodge it -

Alexus - ??? Alexus winced at the realization she'd forgotten her other roommates. Their lack of rushing to get themselves murdered for her had sort of pushed them to the back of her mind. "I'm so sorry guys, there were just bugs and Sharp was crazy and everything just happened so fast." She apologized, "I really did try to get you guys out before this happened, but I didn't notice fast enough because of all the fruit snacks." She really wished they'd just left, now they were all caught up in her stupid mess. Although, she supposed they didn't have to be caught up in her mess if they didn't want to. She at least owed them the option. "Alright, but for serious now." She said, her face turning grim, "I'll give you two options: You can stay out of this entirely, just go back to the dorm room and pretend nothing ever happened. I'll be more careful in the future to prevent you from being caught up in all this. Or you can commit to being a part of this and I'll explain to you what just happened." It wasn't really a fair deal, help her or live in the dark? It was almost cruel of her to offer. But she really didn't have any option. If she told them the truth she couldn't just let them leave like nothing had happened. Really she shouldn't be letting them leave after anything had happened. It was just too dangerous for them. She should have known better than to keep coming to school. "I'll be staying." Said a voice from her side. She turned to look and saw Sharp standing there, her hand still glowing slightly with heat power. She smiled in thanks and then faced the others once more, awaiting their responses. -

It's cool. The importance is that you learn from your mistakes and improve for next time ^^ At times like these I like to share the personality from my very first character, I have it memorized As Steak said, everyone starts somewhere. Even experienced peoplez are still learning EDIT: Can you tell I'm hungry, Strat?- 317 replies
