      I did not watch the entirety of the anime, not counting the Endless Eight, I watched the first 13 or so episodes and thats really all I needed to like the movie

      Glad to hear that you enjoyed it. With the new series, you'll have a somewhat better understanding on what the hell is going on if you make that connection to the movie.

      I've seen the first series, but not Endless Eight. Thought honestly, from what I've read of Endless Eight, it sounds like artistic genius. The fact that they re-animate the whole thing with subtle changes sounds really cool to me. And yes, I would agree that Kyon is an amazing character. His narrative is so perfect.
