  1. Marisa waves at the newcomer. "Marisa. Though I'm just passing through, not actually part of this group." She turns to Mar. "I figured I'd ask while I was here; was there anything else you wanted me to ask this guy when I find him? He's quite the expert in his field, and you seem to be the curious type."
  2. "I see." Ghost's world sounded. . . unpleasant, at best. Certainly, Sararhiod had its problems - hell, it was his job at times to deal with the worst it had to offer - but she hadn't described anything sounding pleasant at all. "In my world, there are a number of sentient races. Humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, and dragons, to name a few; listing every single one might actually be impossible." Did everyone here come from desolate, broken worlds? That seemed to be a recurring theme with the descriptions his new companions had to offer.
  3. Hiroki gritted her teeth. It didn't actually hurt - the mech and by extension her Favor warded off the pain - but that wasn't a situation that looked like it was going to last for much longer. Warning lights flared all across her HUD; armor compromised in multiple places, plasma containment near breach, several thrusters disabled or blown clean off. Still, it was operational, and that was going to have to be enough. She brought her main cannon up and around once again. Melt Kracko
  4. "N-no, that's not necessary. I . . . that isn't the issue. I remembered something." Had she been in a different situation, a different time, she likely would have laughed at the suggestion. She'd been around for quite some time, and while her reputation had made things difficult at times, generally, if she wanted a companion, she could get one. "I'm sorry to bother you, truly."
  5. "Ah." Dating advice? That was a newer term for courtship, right? She knew she'd heard of it from the few outsiders that had wandered into Gensokyo, like that one miko. . . Whatever remained of her cheer, along with her discomfort at Empi's. . . situation. . . vanished, replaced with the all-too-familiar weight of the memory of what once was. The change was visible on her face; she hadn't had a proper response to Empi before, and this certainly didn't help that situation.
  6. "Oh, Mar, good." She stands up from her seat on the bed and walks to the door. "I wanted to tell you while I was here. I'm still looking for that specialist I mentioned, but I think I've got his location pinned down, and once I leave here I'll go straight to him. Probably. Any developments on your end?"
  7. A reminder from the staff to not make a big deal over spambots. They're a thing that happens, just ping a moderator and they'll go away.

Will do :) thanks for the reminder

  8. "I. . . see." Truthfully she'd only understood about half of what the fairy had said. Which was unusual, given that it was usually the other way around with fairies. She glanced back at Laver, and then at the implements scattered about the room. On the one hand, the boy probably knew what Empi was talking about better than Mitsurugi did, but on the other, she didn't believe he really needed to see the inside of the room Empi had claimed. She seized on the only part of the statement she'd actually comprehended. "You were going to meet a client? What service do you offer?"
  9. Mitsurugi's eyes flit over the contents of the room and Empi's state of dress - or lack thereof. Her face reddens almost imperceptibly. She's nearly as bad as the oni. . . "I heard you from down the hall, and was simply wondering what you were upset about." Her eyes seem to slide about a bit instead of making direct eye contact.
  10. "Good to meet you, Navin - that is your given name, right? Anyway, yeah, getting to sit down for a little bit would be nice." She poked her head through a nearby doorway and, seeing that the room was unoccupied, pushed the rest of the way in and sat down on the bed. Out of habit, she began idly weaving a spell with her unoccupied hands. "I'll go find Mar in a second."
  11. "I see. . ." He figured he wouldn't press the issue with the man, though he felt much the same way as Ghost seemed to. "Anyway, you don't have elves where you're from? Pointy ears, fair skinned, live forever unless someone does something about it? I hadn't even thought of that. . ." The quarter-dragon thought for a moment. "So, what, is it like one of those books where humans are the only intelligent species left, then? Or did they never exist at all?"
  12. "Alright, sounds good." Aimi led the group down and out of the Tower, and proceeded with the rest of the tour about campus. They hit a number of different destinations, including the library, a science center, something that appeared to be a gym for both humanoids and those with animal features, and the law building, which smelled faintly of dry paper and sulfur. Their final stop was actually relatively mundane looking: a modern student center, with high ceilings and just a little too much glass in the architecture. The cafeteria was on the second floor, while the first floor was occupied by an auditorium, a coffee shop, and the campus convenience store. The food on offer at the cafeteria was as diverse as the student body. There were "normal" foods like pizza and sandwiches, and rather more exotic things like slabs of raw meat, bags of live insects, and several varieties of glowing vials that seemed to be for the somewhat less fleshy residents on campus. Aimi handed out tickets to everyone in the group. "These are free meal passes, since you don't have your IDs yet. Give them to the cashiers, eat up, and then head to the third floor to get your IDs made; those will be your keys and your meal passes starting tomorrow. "
  13. Mitsurugi starts to walk in the general direction of the noise. She pauses and looks back at Laver, as if to ask him if he was coming along.
  14. Mitsurugi inclines her head slightly in reply. ". . . Do you hear something, by the way? Like. . . Profanity."
  15. Mitsurugi actually chuckles ever so slightly at Laver's statement; this quite possibly being the first time she has smiled since she showed up on the ship. "That. . . is simultaneously not far from the truth and not it at all." Her expression fades back to that faint sadness - or maybe that's just what her face looks like? "I was - am - a god of natural disasters; in this sheath is a small contingent of souls that worshipped me in life. And still do. . ." She ties the sheath back into its normal place. ". . . Thank you, Laver. Hearing that does make me feel somewhat better."
  16. Masaru shook his head and made a placating gesture. "No, I was just telling Ghost a bit about my experiences. I did have a mentor to teach me the basics; older elf, lived up in the mountains near my hometown. People paid him food and whatever else he needed to teach them or their kids the bladeforms; didn't really want much else, although I do think he kept some money on hand in case he had a dry spell of students. I took the lessons when I was younger and got a refresher for him when I decided on my career. The specific ones I use have been refined and modified to fit my own style, though; I can put a lot more power into a swing than most people, and this beast-" he raises his sword to indicate it "-isn't quite the same as a longsword or a katana."
  17. "I see. . ." A wave of guilt crashed over her, clearly visible on her face. "I. . . here. Let me show you." She reached to her left side and undid a small knot at her side. Mitsurugi pulled the sword and accompanying sheath out of the loop securing it, and held it in front of her on her palms. "This is where the people you see reside. Or. . . what's left of them. They bound themselves to my sheath so that they could sustain me, rather than be destroyed." Not that their faith had done any good; here she was, rather than in her home plane. She'd failed every last one of them; how could they not yet grow bitter? Did they simply not know better, disconnected from the world as they were? She blinked, trying to maintain composure.
  18. "It's good to meet you as well, Laver. My name is Saigai Mitsurugi." She frowned - well, more than usual, anyway - at his initial comment. "Why were you sleeping on the floor there? I passed another room with a bed a short time ago; surely that would have been more comfortable." So he had somehow brought himself here? And had some sort of formal title, unless this was some sort of childish make-believe - which was highly unlikely given the situation. "And, what did you mean, lots of people?"
  19. Mitsurugi stopped upon sighting the unfamiliar boy. Now they're involving children in this, as well? And the poor thing doesn't even have a bed. . . A small part of her said that he could probably handle himself if he'd ended up here, and no one she'd spoken with seemed to be the type to abduct children - at least, not without good cause - but the motherly portion shushed it. She stooped down next to the boy and prodded him gently. "Pardon me for waking you, but I haven't seen you in this place before."
  20. "I see. Well, I don't remember much of why this is going on, so you'll have to excuse me on that bit." She shrugged. "If he's back on that world I can find Mar in a bit. I really do need to find a place to sit down for a bit, though. I got sidetracked trying to track down another acquaintance, one thing led to another, and it turns out people really don't appreciate it when you try to take their holy dragon book. Not that I knew it was that important at the time, or that it really belonged to anyone alive. Anyway. Did I ask your name? Mine's Marisa."
  21. "What? Summon? No, I'm not even really with this group. Just stopping by to rest and see if I can't find a couple familiar faces. You haven't seen a guy named Edmond at all, have you?" Marisa peered about the halls. "He's supposed to have something interesting to show me. Also gotta track down that orc at some point, let him know about my progress on finding him that specialist."
  22. Masaru nods. "I'd say worse than a waste of space. Liches are almost universally terrible people. Not that there are a lot of them, because usually anyone going that far into it gets offed by his own creations or people like me before they finish. Anyway, I've been fighting for what, a decade now? Not full time, but being a professional adventurer means you end up doing a lot of it. And thank you, I've spent a long time working on refining them."
