The normal guy idea is cool but, honestly, I like Cepheus' idea for a Normal gym better. I will discuss this with the others and we will see what happens. The fairy idea can overlap with Red's suggestion about a hidden fairy village thing, and the water thing can overlapwith that other suggestion about water/fire twins that I liked to much. Like, your character can be one of the siblings in question

HECK YES! We will have a city that is an expy of SIdney, this can work wonders! Psychic seems the most obvious choice: as an alternative, we have a Pokemon in particular that has a strong musical theme and thus, since that Pokemon is of the Fairy type, it would make sense for this gym/opera to be focused on the Fairy type... But that would mean scrapping the hidden fairy village thing

Oh I see. Then the "Irvine the crocodile hunter" idea and the "researcher who doubles as gym leader" should be two separate things (also because come on, a Normal crocodile? O.o ), wouldn't you agree? I think we can work multiple ideas out from what has been said so far, I for one have a big one in mind... Which will be a separate thing from the "crocodile hunter" idea, but will incorporate the "researcher who doubles as gym leader" thing

The fairy thing is cool, I can think of at least two locations where it can work. The Crocodile hunter might be a twist on the concept, basically it would focus on the "hunter" part: I mean crocodiles are aquatic creatures (and we will probably have a water/something crocodile at some point) right? Well, this guy's job might literally be hunting them down... Meaning he would use the Electric type, to zap them into submission. And the qater idea is cool but... A guy at the end of page two already suggested an idea for whater which I honestly like more. It would work with one of our Pokemon in particular, to make for a particularly evil battle...

Basically a different take on Shade Jokes aside, I am kinda sorta planning for Dark to be the champion's type, because a couple of particularly strong mons belong to that... But we'll keep this alternative in mind, thanks a lot

Ladies and gentlemen, we are glad to announce that we have reached a grand total of 87 individual species. The complection of the Pokedex is just around the corner. In thanking you all for your enthusiastic contributions, we would like to ask you to suggest less ideas for Pokemon and more ideas for human NPCs (gym leaders and E4 for now), as we need the latter much more than the former at this stage. Incidentally, when you see a post from either myself, Zim or Hukuna that begins with the "the following announcement has been paid for by #FOLD " banner, it means that you can expect an important announcement and/or a juicy preview/reveal. Such posts will be made roughly one per week, to keep the hype train rolling On other news, Nova and Azery have been added to the "Who we are" section! Congratulations are in order people, give it up for them!

Thank you all guys for your suggestions in regards to new species. Unfortunately, because of my shaky internet connection, I have just caused a huge mess, and I am currently working to restore all of the stuff that I have accidentally ruined. Because of this, right I don't have the time to go through your suggestions, refine them, complete their movepools and so on: I will get back at you guys once this situation has been resolved. And Chim (and everyone else), as I mentioned we welcome all ideas for NPCs, so feel free to post those in this topic to your heart's content And to whoever asked about Field Effects: no we are not going to have those. The reason is simple: we suck at coding and we are aware of it. Therefore, we will keep things as simple as possible: however, we will still find ways to make boss battles (be them gym-related or plot-related) absolutely GRUELING, so don't worry I dare say that the natural difficulty and the thrill of playing a game without knowing all there is to know about the Pokemon beforehand will be the main selling points of this game: when was the last time you captured a Pokemon, and you genuinely didn't know anything about it, its strengths, its evolutions, its abilities, and you didn't have any way to immediately find such info on the internet?

Yeah what he said. But I like the idea for the Red Oni, Blue Oni gym. As a matter of fact, I had in mind an idea for a particularly grueling double battle (Hukuna knows what I am talking about ) which would fit perfectly with this concept of yours: and since either city A or E are going to be the last gym of the game (and both are major ports) I think this culd very well be used as 8th and final gym. Ok so, since it has been brought to my attention that it might be difficult, for people who want to contribute with ideas for new species, to do so without knowing what kind of Pokemon we already have in the project, here is a list of notable animals that we have already used as basis for some creation(s) of ours: Koala Kangaroo Australian water dragon Platypus Dingo Cassowary Bilby Magpie Kookaburra Dodo Tasmanian devil Rabbit Spider (we have 3 of those, as a matter of fact) Wolf Sheep Wild boar Sand goanna Kiwi Dragonfly Well actually the last two kinda sorta got lost in development along the way, but we should get them done sooner or later. We have a lot more species than this, but the others are either mix and match critters, or based on something other than animals (objects, plants, a frigging pirate ship, and various mythological creatures). So yeah, these are the notable animals we have used as basis for our creations: if you want to suggest something new, make sure it is not inspired to any of these. Let's see: if you check the map, you'll see that city C is the last green area before the desert begins. So I can see a Grass gym having a theme similar to the one you said, and being located in that city: basically, they are a community of fronteer farmers, who have to fight with the desert over every square inch of land, with the gym leader also being the major/elder of the town... In this context however, I think it would make more sense for the Pokemon that you are suggesting to be based to one of those plants that adapt to the life in the desert and are able to absorb humidity from the surroundings in order to survive, rather than on corn... Truth be told, I was already planning to create a Grass/Ground Pokemon, but I haven't yet, so this might be just the imput I needed...
