Since it is already pretty late here, I'll help you build your deck tomorrow. Is that ok for you? For now, you should read with attention the article about Malicevorous I linked earlier... I had already recommended an archetype (actually Number 81 is Deck Locked to said archetype ), but it just occurred to me that it was never given a proper name untill recently, so yeah, if you Googled "train", you didn't find anything... Here is the archetype in question. Check it out, it has actually good solution for quick and consistent Rank 10 summons... As Hiss13 said, Hanged Man corresponds to the Heart-eartH duo, which is taken. And Justice corresponds to the Cain/Abel duo, which is also taken (albeit, to be honest, by a guy who hasn't posted for confirmation yet). I am afraid you are out of luck... :/ EDIT: saw your post right now... Death and Strenght are ALSO taken. You REALLY are out of luck... Actually "Synchro power" means "the ability of a deck to summon Synchro monsters"... What I meant to ask is: what Tuner monster can possibly fit in a Machina deck?

Ladies and gentlemen here is our Utopia wielder! Except... Is the name Lane or Ryger? Remember you don't have just Judge Buster, you also have Dark Mist and Manipulator of Souls! This being said, from the top of my mind decks that can enjoy running these numbers are The Agent (what with Venus' effect), Nimble (the fish ones), Malicevorous (probably the most fitting theme-wise) and possibly a few more I don't remember right now. Please research these archetypes throughly and decide which one you like the most. I'll help you build a deck then
-
Have you decided what kind of deck are you going to use with these guys yet? Need help to decide? Myself and DragonMasterKrim have decided to split duties: I help people who have minimal understanding of the basics, while he helps those who understand the basics but need help making their deck. Since you seem to be of the latter kind, please research Heraldic deck-builds and the Heraldic archetype in general (Google is your friend) and, once ready contact DragonMasterKrim: he'll help you build your deck Also people, I have edited the list of unwanted decks/cards, please check that out!

All cards that are not forbidden by the TCG banlist, and that are not in our list of cards that it would be better not to use, are fair play, even the strictly OCG ones. And yes in theory Pendulum Summons are ok too, but in practice nobody seems to be interested in them so far Hierophant means the Heraldic bunch (it was about time somebody got them), all others are taken: let me know if Heraldics are ok for you, and/or if you need a hand building a Heraldic deck. I said this before and I'll say this again: Number cards are unique, so a person can only have a single copy of their Number of choice in their deck. All other cards are fair play, you can use whatever you want to your heart's content, as long as it isn't in the list of cards we don't like (and none of the cards you mentioned are). However, in a Machina deck you should be running 3 copies of Gear Gigant X, that's pretty much a must. I was about to ask how in the green hell can machinas have Synchro power, but somehow I feel that I don't really wanna know.

Let me know when you have decided, and feel free to contact me privately if you need help building a deck. Oh something I want everyone to remember: since we are playing on DN, we will enforce our own set of rules. This means that in our roleplay all the Number cards will be threated as having the "cannot be destroyed by battle, except with other Number monsters" effect they have in the anime... Therefore, even the most subpar Numbers aren't that subpar in this roleplay! This is particularly important in your case, Scrublord: you'll read everywhere that Judge Buster is weak despite the great effect, because it has low stats and thus needs a lot of protection to prevent it from being destroyed by battle: well, that will not be the case in out roleplay!

So, there is this guy namd Portgas D. Ace who cannot post in the forums because of temp lock. He sent me his app via private message, asking to join in the roleplay. Since his app looks good, I am going to post it here, and add him to the roleplay roter: his character will be considered "in standby" (I'll come up with some plot-related justification of this) untill april when his temp lock expires. EDIT: Death means the Rank 2 Fiend family, Justice means Cain and Abel (which however was also obtained by another guy, a few messages earlier in this very page), the others are taken (I guess? Red_Chaos had obtained Rail Cannon AKA the High Priestess, but he said he wasn't sure about it, and I haven't heard from him since...). Time for you to choose! I personally recommend the Rank 2 Fiend family, because there are many decks that can run it, and because it is the only one that guarantees no conflicts with other people who got similar results...

Justice would be the Cain and Abel duo. They are Rank 1 Numbers (see the OP for links to the cards' pages on YGO Wikia) that can easily be summoned by Ghostrick, a deck that plays defensively and relies on flip effects like in the good old times, while still being great at Xyz summons. Since you seem to be a nostalgic guy, I thought such a deck could be the ideal to finally get you to appreciate Xyz summons. Just check out the archetype and let me know if you like it: I can lend you a hand building a deck if needed. Incidentally, Strenght is taken, so Cain and Abel are your only choice for Numbers: so yeah, if you don't like this suggestion of mine, you'll have to settle for not being a Number Holder (which would work for you too, given that you seem to dislike Xyz summons). The Fool is the other Arcana (along with the World) associated with Utopia, which is taken, leaving the Lovers as your only result over 90%. And truth be told, I am happy that someone got the Lovers, as they are associated with a personal favorite: Lancelot. This Number is Deck Locked to zombies: the reason for this (as well as the reason why it is associated with the Lovers Arcana of all things) is that it was specifically designed to be summoned with the combined effects of two monsters named Isolde and Tristan (get the reference?), which in turn are designed to work wonders in a zombie-themed deck. Helping you make such a deck would be a joy, because it is really a personal favorite. Everything's good, welcome aboard. EDIT; actually wait no, everything is not good: is your full name just Gen? Also, where's the backstory?
-
Well I'll be honest with you: it's going to take a while. Starting the first IC topic is still going to be a matter of a couple of days, and as mentioned in the OP, dueling is not going to be the focus of the RP anyway, so the chances that you get yourself a duel straight away are very thin. Feel free to send me a private message if you need help with that. Also, how about you try your luck with the test? I mean, getting a plot-related deck might make it easy for you to make up your mind... Well, if you are not going to be a Number Holder, then it is ok to run a Synchro-oriented deck. Besides, Scraps are a personal favorite, so I of course approve of your decision. Welcome aboard. Non-plot critical duels (as in, duels you people start with one another just for fun, or duels with minor NPCs) are not going to be actually roleplayed: you just make a post describing the start of the duel, then you fast forward to the end by saying something like "the duel was a very close affair, but in the end...", and then you describe your winning move and call it a day. On the other hand, plot-critical duels shall be properly roleplayed (as in, with duelists taking turns describing their actions).

Everything is fine, welcome on board. Well, the good old Rainbow Dragon build can still make use of some Xyz (They make it that much more consistent, specially Lavalval Chain). What I meant is merely that nowadays, people make decks that include like 3 or 4 beasts and focus on bringing out generic Xyz, while a -true- CB deck should run all 7 beasts and focus on bringing out Rainbow Dragon... So yeah, despise Xyz or not, do make use of those that benefit you, trust me on this one... It's all for the sake of bringing out Rainbow Dragon! I can lend you a hand actually, I should have a buil somewhere... This being said, you are in too. Now I am really going to sleep.

Ok the party we threw that friend of mine just ended. I don't feel particularly sleepy, so here I am! As you said, they were plot-driving cards in GX. Nowadays, they are just another deck, so you are free to use them. However, I gotta tell you: I won't approve of a cheap, Xyz-centric deck that sues only Pegasus, Tiger and the new support, like we often see nowadays! If you are a man, make a deck around Rainbow Dragon and make it consistent! I actually have a build somehere, I can help if you want. This aside, is there anything that needs my immediate attention? If not, I'll be replying to some private conversations.

Unless, of course, the girl we are supposed to be celebrating is late, and the dinner I prepared is going cold...
-
That's the spirit. Now I am getting ready for a party tonight: once the party is over (or tomorrow if I am too tired) I will contact you privately to give you hints for a deck. In the meantime, you might want to research the basics of Xyz summons, as well as what decks feature heavy focus on Rank 4 Xyz Summons (that's what Utopia is)... You might get some nice ideas!
-
Remember when I said "the gf of a buddy of mine is getting her degree, so he aksed me help to throw her a party"? Well, that's tonight: I gotta get prepared!

Ladies and gentlemen we have our first natural Utopia! And given that the Hanged Man (that would be the Heart-eartH family) is already taken, you don'teven have a choice: if you get on board and go for Number Holder, you are our protagonist! Well truth be told you have Cain and Abel at 88%, but come on, it's Utopia... 8 YO kids are far more skilled and competitiv at this that people our age are That aside, I can only give you the same hint I gave Chimchain: try your luck with the test and see what happens!
-
That's probably the best course of action. Pick a protagonist, and then, locked or not, I'll help you build the best deck you can around the Numbers you got. I mean, making a deck from scratch is easier if you at least know which boss(es) you want to summon! Better than having no idea at all, at least... EDIT: when I say "pick", I mean of course "try your luck with the test". Good. You need help with those, you know where to find me

Some important stuff I should have probably mentioned earlier: 1) While it is recommended, for the sake of organization, to have all your characters be students from the class Anna is in charge of (we need an excuse to have them all in the same place when a topic starts, don't we?), it is NOT mandatory, and as long as you have a valid reason to be inolved with the guys of said class, everything is fair play. Dunno, you could be a teacher, or a younger or older student, or stuff like that... I am saying this for the sake of realism: I mean the fact that all the Chosen Ones are classmates is too big of a coincidence without having all of the Judges also be their classmates... 2) STAY AWAY FROM RUM CARDS. Really, this is important: pretend that Chaos Evolution and Ranking Up in general do not exist. These are features that shall be introduced later, and the act of introducing them will actually be a major plot point. So please, for now just pretend the whole thing does not exist.

A -pure- Cyber Dragon deck hasn't been done by anyone yet, so I suppose it would be ok. Cyberdarks are kinda complicated to play nowadays, so I would advice against them. So yeah, since the rest of your app is ok, I will officially welcome you to the roleplay as soon as you confirm your deck. The Heart-eartH family can be tricky to use, but there are a few decks that can pull them off (Vampires come to mind, I actually used to have a build for them). Contact me privately for more details. For now, I'll edit the OP stating that the Heart-eartH family is taken... Fortunately not many people have applied for protagonist, so it isn't really a problem, I'll just edit the OP. But please try and avoild pulling this kind of stuff in the future <.< Incidentally, you are aware that Rhongomiant is Deck Locked, yes? You are fine with playing Heroics, yes? If you need a hand building a deck for them, you know where to find me... Contacting you privately.

STILL... NOT... MANAGING... TO... GET... SOME... SLEEP... Your choices are Rhongomirant, Cain and Abel (what a coincidence), the Rank 2 fiend family, the Heart-eartH family and Shogi, in this order. Take your pick! The deck you posted is actually a mess, no offense :/ Here is the deal: you want a protagonist? Go for it. Try your luck with the test and see if the Number you get gives you some better idea. And while at it, research a bit about the new mechanics on the internet (Google is your friend). Tomorrow, after finally getting some sleep, I'll tell you what are your choices based on the results of your test, and I'll help you pick the ideal archetype for the Number you got, and build an ideal deck around it. And if after that you are still not the best duelist around... Who even cares, this roleplay is more about the interaction and not about the dueling anyway. Deal? Uh, no... Rail Cannon is Deck Locked, as the OP clearly states, so it's either you go with Trains or you accept to be a non-Number Holder (or, why not? Maybe a villain). I am sorry but rules about the whole personality test thing were clear...
-
Sorry, it's just that it didn't fit in any particular strategy or theme, so I felt Cain and Abel were better for plot-related Rank 1 Numbers... ;-; Now I am REALLY goig to sleep. I swear. So when you are done with your test post the results, I'll see and address them tomorrow. Well actually later today, considering it's almost 4 AM here.
-
Damnit, right when I was hoping to go to sleep, new posts that require immediate addressing force me to double-post... WINX ARE POPULAR OUTSIDE ITALY? That aside, Hermit was just taken, that leaves you with High Priestess as only option. That would be Rail Cannon: are you fine with using Trains? I guess it would fit your character's passion for mechanics... I can provide some help building a deck (tomorrow, for God's sake), or you can look up "Anna Kaboom" on Google, she's the one who uses them in the anime, so there should be plenty of pages about her deck around the web, it could be a beginning... Sure, go right ahead.
