As much as I don't like 6th Gen Starters, go with Delphox. It won't be redundant or shunned later in your play through.

Could I get some help with making a team please before the 8th gym?

I always run more than 6 Pokemon. Just sub in for what that gym or battle requires and makes sure you train all of them. -

Not a chance. This one is fairly self explanatory: You can't die. Just remember your family, partner, friends, none of them are immortal.

8th is Psychic, correct? Get that Honchkrow for the immunities and also level up your Pokemon to their nearly full levels. This can often be the difference. -

Nope. You can do any activity you want as your job, but you never get any vaction or time off doing it. You do it and then sleep for 8 hours, get up, and then do it again.
