After Maya began, what Ecquis felt was less of actual pain and more of conflicting feelings. He could feel that the magic affecting him wasn't quite in the same vein as what affected Klaren, even though the methods were...mostly the same. Still, this told Ecquis a lot about how Maya felt about him and the rest of the group as a whole. "Yes, I think that demonstration answered all of my questions," Ecquis told Maya, chuckling a bit. "It seems to me that the way it affects people is mainly based on how you feel about them at the time. That would explain the response that Klaren gave and what I felt just now," Ecquis stated, offering his own explanation of how the mechanics of this healing worked. "And in regards to what I felt, I can tell that you don't want to hurt any of us. If you did, I may have ended up in a slightly worse state than this," Ecquis told her. He did briefly wonder how the sister before him did see him, but he figured he could ask about that later. "As for the people you do want to inflict this on, make sure you don't get too caught up in it. You wouldn't want it to somehow end up like this. Granted, I don't really know the story behind it, but if you're ever willing to talk to me about it, I'll be here for you. And depending on things, I may be willing to lend a hand," Ecquis added, chuckling a bit. This event has had quite a few turns, but somehow it's managed to work out for the most part. Though... "As...a final question, are the feelings you can infuse within your healing limited at all?" Ecquis asked, honestly curious as to how much the staff will carry over. -

"I'm quite aware of the risks involved. And all things considered, at this point in time I trust you enough to not make the effects too long lasting," Ecquis says with a chuckle. "And besides, maybe it will help you out with managing the effects of this little trick perhaps. I'm not completely sure on that, but it doesn't hurt to try...well not much anyhow," Ecquis says with a slight grin, knowing that he'll be the one experiencing pain. "But yes, I am prepared, so you may start whenever you're ready," Ecquis finishes, with a neutral expression back on his face. -

"Well, that makes some sense...I think," Ecquis replied after hearing Maya's explanation. Though Ecquis had learned about the fundamentals of magic and how it worked through his travels, he never did look into it very much. Ecquis was also somewhat surprised that she had her brother's tome with her this entire time, though that was a question that could be saved for later. For now, Ecquis was still sort of curious about the effects this method of...healing would possess. "I think I understand how this process would work, but I'm still somewhat curious on its effects. Perhaps a demonstration would help me understand exactly what effects this would have on a person?" Ecquis decided to ask. While asking for a demonstration of something like this probably wasn't the best of ideas, Ecquis' curiosity was something that was very hard to stop. Also, he trusted that Maya would be able to control herself now that she has calmed down. -

"That's good to hear. I'll still be here for you if you need any help along the way," Ecquis said, pleased at Maya's decision to try and fix things. Granted, this was just the easy part of trying to fix this. Ecquis figured that he may have to talk to Klaren to find out more of what his life was like. Still though, one question was still present, and Ecquis figured he might as well get an answer. "Incidentally, what exactly...DID you do to Klaren? You seemed to be using your healing staff, but Klaren certainly looked to be in pain. I'm a bit curious as to how something like that even works," Ecquis asked, honestly confused at what he saw moments before. Ecquis had never heard of healing magic hurting people, but it wouldn't be the first time Ecquis has encountered something he knew nothing about. -

"If the issue was that Klaren wasn't aware of how his actions came off to other people, shouldn't that have been the goal of this endeavor? To get him to understand that?" Ecquis asked Maya, seeing that this event went in a completely different direction. "I've not spoken to Klaren much, but from what I could tell from him through the conversation we did have, and from his journal, he doesn't seem to be a terrible person. Actually, reading his journal showed me that he actually respects all of us quite a bit. Granted, he has some strange tendencies, but I think that could be said of anyone," Ecquis said, recalling his reading of one of Klaren's journals. Thinking on it, every mention of one of the people in this group present there all had a respectful tone attributed to them. Ecquis didn't know how Klaren would respond later to something like this. "Your original intentions weren't to harm Klaren, but his behavior seemed to cause you to end up harming hiim, even if it wasn't physical. Klaren however, won't see what the point of this was, not like this. All he saw was someone else being angry at him and hurting him. I don't know much about Klaren's past, but given this reaction, something else must have happened to make him respond like this. On top of that, it seems that Klaren respected you quite a bit. Seeing someone who he looked up to so much suddenly doing something like this...I'm not too surprised he would have this sort of reaction." he said, walking up to Maya. "Still though, if you truly feel bad about your actions now, you can do something about it. Perhaps not now, but later when Klaren has calmed down a bit, you can explain things properly to him. Try and have a talk with him and let him know exactly what it is you want him to know. Then maybe you can settle these matters. And if you ever have trouble and need help with anything, I'll do anything I can to assist you," Ecquis said, smiling at the woman before him. He knew that Maya wasn't necessarily an evil person, so perhaps she and Klaren could settle their differences at some point in the future. Or at the very least understand the other's viewpoint. "So then Mayanna, what do you want to do now? Do you want to leave things as they are now, or do you want to try to fix things from here?" -

Ecquis by this point had been watching the entire scene, and had decided to step in. He didn't quite expect what he saw really, with Maya hurting Klaren through...healing magic? Ecquis wasn't sure how something like that even worked, nor how it would affect someone. At any rate, Ecquis didn't want to let this go on for too much longer. He personally didn't have anything against Klaren, even if he did have odd tendencies. With that, he decided to go up and make his presence known. "Alright then Maya. I think that Klaren has had enough," Ecquis said, walking towards the pair. "I think you should explain to Klaren exactly what's troubling you, don't you think?" -

Sven looked towards Meredith as she walked off, preferring her a bit over the mage she left him with. Sven noticed that the archer girl did become slightly uncomfortable, but he still wanted to have Meredith pet her a bit more. Regardless, Sven made a quizzical look on his face as he looked to Terrin, wondering what the mage would decide to do. -

Hearing the whistle, Ecquis turned to Morgan only to see her start flying off. Ecquis figured that he wouldn't be needed to help aid the signal, especially considering how fond of Maya Morgan was. "Well then, time to see how this goes," Ecquis whispered to himself before taking a better position. Morgan, having heard the whistle, went flying towards where Maya and Klaren were. Morgan immediately dove towards Klaren, roaring loud enough for him to notice in the process. She did however make sure not to hit him, just make him back up a little bit. Once the dive was completed, she went back around and situated herself in between Maya and Klaren, ending the first pass with a second roar, but also poised to make another strike at the monk. -

Sven made a sort of grin in response to Terrin's compliment, and spread his ruby-colored wings wide in an attempt to show off, making sure not to hit anyone around him. While boastful at times, Sven was still mindful of the people around him. -

Sven gives a small roar of agreement to Terrin's statement, while also positioning himself besides Meredith. He also lifts his head up slightly, wanting Meredith to scratch under his chin a bit more. -

Morgan understood Maya's words, and made a small roar to acknowledge her desires. Ecquis after hearing this decides that this whole situation should go without too many problems. "It seems that Morgan understands what you want. She'll probably be able to actually attempt to eat him also without actually hurting him, though I'm not entirely sure on that. It may be better not to risk going that far. At any rate, I'll be heading along. Morgan should also be able to hear your whistle and go on her own. Will you?" Ecquis turns to his mount. In response, Morgan nods her head, affirming that she knows what to do. "Alright then, I'll leave this to you. Have fun, provided that's even the right thing to say here," Ecquis says, laughing a bit at the end. He then walks towards the trees, with Morgan following behind. Elsewhere, after having been pet by Meredith, Sven decided to follow Meredith towards where she was heading. -

Even despite Maya's harsh tone, he couldn't help but chuckle a bit. "My, you're certainly scary when you're angry. Remind me not to do something to anger you in the future," Ecquis remarked. The last thing he would want is to have the healer of the group upset at him, especially seeing her like this. For a moment, Ecquis felt a little bad for Klaren. The Poor man is about to feel a sister's wrath, Ecquis thought briefly before looking back at Maya. "So then, how do you want to do this?" -

"Well...Morgan is one of the better natured ones, so she probably won't do anything too crazy," Ecquis says, slightly amused by Maya's tone with this. He recalled her earlier reactions to Klaren in one of their first conversations, but he had no idea that it would have gotten this far. It would be a lie if Ecquis didn't think this confrontation might be a little amusing, so long as he came around to make sure nobody got severely hurt. "I suppose I don't mind helping you out, provided I go with you. As amusing as it is to see you like this, I do need to make sure that you don't take things too far. Just in case. Morgan, how do you feel?" he asks the wyvern besides him. In response, Morgan lowers her wings so that Maya could ride if she wanted to. "Well, Morgan appears to have no objections. So long as you don't take things too far, you're free to handle this how you see fit," Ecquis tells Maya, partially supporting her endeavors and partially wondering if anything will go wrong. -

"Well, the two of us met in the wilderness of Yukihana actually. Or at least, he noticed me first. Alvis was an experienced spy who had to run from wherever he was from. Apparently they sent one of their wyvern platoons out to try and find him and bring him back. So when he first noticed me going through the area, he got worried that I was part of that group," Ecquis started, recalling the particular incident. "He must have been tracking me for about a week or so before he started making attempts at my life. Though thanks to all of the snow around, I was much harder to see, especially when I was on Cynthia. I wasn't sure who was hunting me or why at the moment, but I knew I had to be careful to not be spotted. Personally I figured it was someone my family sent to get rid of me. I think it was a night one week after the attacks started where I heard a scream waking me up. When I got up to look, Sven had apparently found the spy, and was halfway towards completely eating him," Ecquis paused for a moment, wondering briefly what would have happened if he didn't wake up at that point. "I ended up managing to keep Sven from completely devouring him, and asked him why he was tracking me. Luckily, Alvis quickly explained the situation after noticing that I wasn't part of the platoon that went after him. I was much too young to have been part of that particular group, but my wyverns ended up scaring him a bit. Really the whole incident was a sort of misunderstanding, and the two of us ended up becoming friends afterwards," Ecquis finished, taking a deep breath. "My, I haven't spoken about that in quite a while. I hope my story hasn't made you bored at all," Ecquis said, wondering if Maya would have been fully interested in his tale. -

"I can't say for sure what makes me immune to the worst effects. And its not just the bow either, since other cursed items don't have normal effects on me," Ecquis told her. "Most of the time, curses don't tend to do anything to me, and in a few instances they give me the opposite effect of what they were meant to do," Ecquis said, recalling a particular incident in Caelum that tipped him off to this knowledge. "As for Alvis, he was someone I met during my travels in Yukihana. He became one of my traveling companions for a while and one of my few friends. It was more in the last year I spent there if I recall, though we certainly didn't meet on the best of terms," Ecquis stated, chuckling a bit at the memory.
