Pokémon Academy: Ch 2a: Dragons [IC]

DarkLight and Commander Devin shook his head to Henry’s question. “No, we know this place is a perfect hunting ground and a goldmine in the eyes of a Hunter. That’s why there are a lot of strong Rangers around these parts of the forest. And then there is Alastair and other breeders who keep an eye out. Dragons, the tusks of a Donphan, Tyranitar’s… all of these ‘items’, Devin said making quotation marks, “are worth a lot on the black market. We knew it was a risk to place the dragons and even the Donphan’s here but it was the best location. Almost every attempt Hunters make fail and most of them are discouraged. But there are desperate ones… they take more risk and are more violent. My best guess would be that this is a situation like that…” There was a hint of doubt in that last sentence. Even Devin had his doubts that the situation could be caused by mere Hunters. But who caused it then? ExLink and Surge “Team Rocket?” Phoebe asked surprised. “Weren’t they disbanded?” she asked while ordering her Pokémon to finish it up. “And they tried to recruit you?” She didn’t wait for an answer. “Jellicent, Milotic, calm the remaining ones down! Blastoise, you’re with me!” She turned back to Slade and Mareek. “Where did you meet them? I’m going after them so warn Professor Silva or Professor Cadmus when he returns!” Jory “The tusks of a Donphan are popular on the black market,” he said with disgust. “There are people who pay a lot of money to use it as wall decoration and such. Even though this area is heavily guarded by Rangers sometimes a Hunter successfully captures his target. Others become more desperate and violent. I never saw anything like this before but I’m going to find out after all of this madness is over with.” There was no trace left from his usual friendly personality. Jory + everyone else not battling / sent over by Phoebe Tyron successfully managed to hold his ground while Alastair’s Kingdra calmed the strongest Donphan’s down. Almost the entire herd now stood still like nothing happened or searched for their friends and little Phanpys. In the camp Milotic and Jellicent went after the few that were still rampaging, while others were waking up or huddled together. Neither of them showed any angry behavior towards a student. When the two Alpha’s finally calmed down, a Haxorus showed up with some students that belonged to the second group. They slipped passed the herd, unharmed, and went over to Alastair, Tyron and Roman. The latter had been busy calming the ones down that left the path and were rampaging in the woods while making sure they wouldn’t enter the camp. Kristen was the first student to arrive and panic showed on her face. “Professors,” she yelled loud enough for most people to hear, “there’s trouble! A student, Evan Reeves, was knocked over the railing and fell down the slope! Professor Cadmus sent us to ask you to start a search party. He sent his Dragonite but the woods are thick and the slope was still rather steep…” her voice stocked. It was obvious she was still in shock after what happened. Tyron grasped for breath. He cared a lot about the safety of the students and immediately took the lead. “Alastair, you and I will each lead a search party. Roman, grab a map! We need to know the exact location and after that call for medical assistance. Whoever caused this might still be around so I need you to stay here. As for you, Phoebe, you…” Tyron searched for Phoebe but didn’t see her. After Slade told her where he was approached she disappeared. “PHOEBE? Where are you?” His voice roared over the campsite the entire time and showed some determination and leadership. No student would be harmed or go missing on his watch. That was the secret vow he made to his father. To the man who gave his everything to build the Academy. -
Yes, but most of them calmed down by now. Raiza should be able to reach Kage without too much trouble.

DarkLight and Commander “I agree with Danielle,” Devin said. “There’s no need to keep a tough façade when you’re coughing blood. You might have an internal injury so don't move until we go back to the camp. I'll call for medical help from there since we have no signal out here.” He then turned his attention to Danielle. “Donphan’s are usually loyal and gentle Pokémon. We knew there were two alpha males were battling it out but we kept a track on them through GPS. Ever since we arrived here they haven’t moved from their spot. I suspect Pokémon Hunters had a hand in this since Alastair didn’t warn me they moved. I can only guess someone removed the tracker.” Jory Alastair sighted. “Hunters probably caused this. I checked the herd a few hours before you all arrived and even put a GPS tracker on a Phanpy ear. Donphan never leave one of them behind and the GPS is still at the same place they were a few hours ago; 5 kilometers southwest of here.” -
Your right. That was supposed to be Kristen. I mixed the names up because I was still debating what to do with Sofia.
-
The ones that will wake up are calmed down. You have to hold out until Sofia arrives. After that Phoebe will take care of the rest.

DarkLight and Commander Devin came over and crutched down on eye level with Henry. “What’s wrong?” he asked concerned. His eyes glanced every now and then back to the place where Evan fell over the rail. Zephyr Lana stumbled around while being pulled by Raiza. She had no time to do anything else but recall all her Pokémon except Rhy. The Rhyhorn was still sleeping and didn’t move an inch. “Shouldn’t we at least try to help?” she asked her childhood friend. It was obvious she was worried about her friends and the potential damage the herd could do. Murdoc and Tacos Tyron and Alastair struggled keeping the most powerful Donphan away from the camp. They didn’t want to hurt the rampaging ground types. “Mhm?” Tyron said. His attention was on the ongoing battle, but he made sure the students behind him weren’t hurt. When he didn’t see any wounds he answered. “Yeah sure, give me a minute to finish this battle and I’ll be there.” Everyone battling at the camp Tyron’s Snorlax, Mienshao and Aggron started to push the herd back. Alastair’s Kingdra held back while spraying water around. There wasn’t much force behind the attack but it was just enough to snap some of them out of it. In the middle of the camp Donphan’s and mainly Phanpys that weren’t involved in a battle fell asleep. Others were paralyzed and calmed down due to the restricted movements. The ones that were confused or hit by Doux’s Razor Leaf became more destructive. Phoebe quickly jumped in and released her Blastoise, Jellicent and Milotic. She used the same tactic as Alastair and used water attacks with just enough power to calm them down without causing serious damage. The water expert kept an eye on the ongoing battles while her Pokémon were calming the rampaging ones down. *********************** “Is he death?” “I don’t know. This wasn’t supposed to happen but those Donphan were more difficult to control than I expected. I never imaged they would knock the boy off the path before Skarmory could sweep him away…” the boss mumbled. Evan suddenly started to move a little. His entire body hurt and he had no energy to get up. A groan escaped his mouth as he opened his eyes and had an unclear vision. He could hear footsteps circling around him. The Skarmory was walking circles while studying the human. They said this human was hers, right? She could go with him and he would raise her. She would finally have a home! But why didn’t this human pet her? Why was he looking the other way? She nudged Evan in the ribs and a cry of pain could be heard. “That hurt! You son of a… Skarmory?” Evan said confused. He narrowed his eyes to get a better look and saw a steel bird. “Glad you two seem to get along,” a deep voice said, catching Evan off guard. -
Vincent didn’t bother getting out of bed. He laid down thinking about the war. Yesterday, on the very first day, two major problems already showed themselves. Caster with that annoying Field and who was apparently aided by Berserker and then there was Archer. The latter was probably the strongest Servant around. Vincent sighed. He didn’t expect the war to be easy, but the advantage he thought he had by joining the MA alliance wasn’t all that advantageous. After a few more minutes he got dressed and went downstairs. Assassin kept silent and stayed in spirit form the entire time.

I'm off to bed. Feel free to control the Donphans and try to calm them down. Edit: Or Jory / Snap can control them since they are still co-hosts.

DarkLight and Commander Devin’s eyes widened. Panic showed on his face as he ran over to the railing and tried to find Evan. “No,” he mumbled. “That’s too deep. DRAGONITE!” he yelled. The gentle dragon immediately came over and Devin gave instructions to find Evan. He then turned back to Danielle and saw a Vulpix growling at the girl. His eyes followed the trail the fire type probably walked and saw Henry coughing. He then scanned the rest of the area and saw that no one else was seriously injured. “Go help your friend,” he instructed Danielle. “I’ll be right there.” Devin cleared his throat. “I want you all to wait here until I’m certain no one else is missing or hurt. Those that aren’t injured take care of your friends and see if anyone is missing.” He then saw a group of students that weren’t harmed, including Kristen. “I want you all to go back to camp and tell them what happened. Find the teachers and make sure they organize search parties for Evan Reeves. The Donphan’s could’ve end up anywhere in between the road and camp so Haxorus will accompany you to keep you safe.” The students nodded and quickly left. The Elite Four member was about to make his way to Henry. “We wait until help arrives to be certain as we don’t know where the Donphan’s are. Changes are very high they are rampaging somewhere close to camp, but in case they return I ask you all to keep an eye out and stay at the side of the path.” ********************** In the meantime Evan was lying unconscious on the ground. His clothes were dirty and ripped and leaves were sticking in his hair. He had a lot of scratches and a head wound that was bleeding slightly. It was a small wonder he wasn’t in any worse shape. A shade fell over him as the student made a groaning sound. “Skaaaar…” -

DarkLight and Commander The thread snapped and Evan fell over the rail. He rolled down the slope, hitting bushes and trees, and quickly disappeared out of view. Avis didn’t reach Devin in time. The Elite Four member followed Avis’s directions but didn’t see Evan’s fall. He reached Danielle and noticed a piece of string in her hands. "What's wrong? Are you injured?" he asked concerned. -
Just stopping them like Claude did should be enough. They mainly need to calm down asap.
-
Yes. As far as the ones inside go: You all do realize a Donphan has enough power to level the whole thing right?
-
If he has 3 Pokémon they can all be equally leveled. I just want to avoid people switching Pokémon around for various battles. It's one of the tests in the Winter Cup but that will become clear when we get there.
-
In that case I stopped the event because I thought you weren't interested. I'm doing a quick Pokémon count but as far as I know everyone has 4 Pokémon except Mareek, Claude and Danielle. Evan and Ryan are going to add their fourth. If I missed something let me know.

Group 2 (Commander and DarkLight) After visiting Salamence the group was on their way back to the camp. They were walking on a sandy path that was big enough for 3 people to walk next to each other. On their right side was nothing but stone. It had the shape of an irregular wall and was about 3-4 meters high. The left side went steep down with a lot of bushes and trees. A rail you can find at every roadside separated the students from safety and a harsh fall. The students were about halfway and the slope on their left wasn’t as steep anymore but still dangerous when the earth started to rumble. Devin was immediately on guard. “Everyone against the stone wall!” he yelled but he was too late. Not every student was able to react in time as a few seconds later a herd of Donphan and Phanpy passed the group knocking students, including Henry, over to the right side. Evan, who was walking on the left side, was one of those that couldn’t react in time. Fortunately for those students the Donphan kept away from the left side if it wasn’t for the rubble that started to come down. Devin’s attention was diverted to the falling rubble as he released his Pokémon to stop the big rocks from raining down on them. One of the very first rocks fell on the road, without injuring anyone, and forced the herd of ground types to run around it; straight at Evan. The student didn’t see much because of the dust that was around and never saw the Donphan coming. The ground type ran straight at him and pushed him over the edge. Evan yelled in angst and confusion but the sound overwhelmed by another Donphan crushing a rock into dust. Danielle saw everything happen. When the herd passed by and the dust cleared Devin tried a head count. His Haxorus, Tyrantrum and Dragonite were standing between students where the rubble fell. “Is everyone alright? Did anyone get injured? Look for your friends and speak up!” And for the very first time the students saw a flustered Devin. Everyone else at the camp A rumbling sound could be heard as the earth started to shake. Alastair and Tyron got up and went to take a look when the herd of Donphan appeared. “Everyone watch out!” Alastair yelled as he and Tyron both released their Pokémon to stop the incoming stampede. Tyron’s Aggron and Snorlax managed to stop the two Alpha males in the front but the others scattered around the camp. There were about 50 of them, including the Phanpies and all of them seemed to be startled about something. The teachers tried their best to calm all of them down but were easily outnumbered. It was obvious they needed help from the students, but not all of them kept a clear head. Most of them fled into one of the buildings, adding their panic to the mayhem. ((You can battle them if you want to try and calm them down. I know Tacos wants to catch one so go ahead and control your opponent(s) as much as you like)) -
I did exactly back then what you describe now. Zorro made an illusion and I broke it by letting a Druddigon come over. I think you even said Kenny woke up and didn't do anything. So now I'm trying to come up with something you can't ignore or turn into in a battle. (Which would've happened with the Druddigon) It's for chapter 3 or 4 so I still have time.
-
That's what I tried in the first place and you ignored it. Also I'm thinking about changing the names I gave to the RoG members. I saw an Alpha Sapphire LP and an admin is named Matt. The guy is muscular and has an intimidating look. And now I watched XY Anime and a guy named Pierre showed up with blond hair and an eye catching outfit...
-
That will probably result in a battle and I want to see another side of Kenny. The image I have now is that he picks fights with everything in sight or completely ignores it. So I'm trying to come up with something else to force another reaction out of him.
-
Rebecca and Brendan are just fillers to reduce the amount of extra NPCs I need to control / create. I doubt they are going to get some spotlight any time soon. The others should have some debt as they will appear more frequently. And your idea with the areas: That's pretty much what I'm going to use for chapter 4.
-
Yes, well, this is the last time I split everyone into groups like this unless absolutely necessary xD Alright since chapter 2 is almost finished I’m going to bother all of you with questions again. What do you think of Chapter 2? Did you enjoy it? What about my writing? Where can I improve? Which characters under my control feel real / which characters need improvement? Who is your favorite NPC and why? Who is your least favorite NPC and why? What do you think about the darker parts I included in this chapter? (Hydreigon and Celebi) Which Legendary do you think will befriend your character? And why? What do you expect to happen in Chapter 3: Winter Cup? If your character was approached instead of Slade; how would he / she react? Is there anything else I can improve upon?
-
Yeah sorry about that. I thought splitting everyone up would be interesting to get some interactions going and keep people entertained. I found out it's taking a lot of effort to keep everyone going at the same time and sometimes I just can't come up with anything good.
-
Phoebe only saw the end where you two were split up. Same for Kenny and his event where Roman found him in the lake without knowing what happened.
-
So we're screwed anyway? xD Btw Sigurd is just following around until something happens.

I decided to move group 4 back to camp. The snakes were to see if Claude and James would work together and weren't strong to begin with. I still need to figure out how to get Kenny more involved though... So group 2 (DarkLight and Commander) you two will soon be involved.
