Fine. Fine. I'm not telling you what you can and cannot do. I just wanted to throw the idea that some of the bosses and gym leaders could share themes to cut back in that area. And don't worry too much on space. 4 GB is probably the total size of a completed project would be if you include all that music (though it'd likely be 2). And Tempo, I'd make sure the size of this wouldn't exceed Reborn's (which isn't hard to do) so that it doesn't take forever to download. I'll let ya'll take care of that other stuff with little discussion as my big focus on the story. If you want to know progress, I'd say we may have scratched the surface of a possible idea and everything is still subject to change (even Jacob's E4 idea). And snow, it's not unusual having this many people working on a project. Often, there are more than one scenario writer for different sections on a game, but almost always there's somebody who shapes the big picture with any ideas presented. Still don't even have nearly enough materials to craft up a rough draft, but it's getting close. (I still have nothing to work with for Team Ultima to the point I may suggest scrapping huge sections of it due to the lack of content). I hate to be cruel, but unless those admins (outside of Trevor) give me heavy details on what they are and how they function (ie leadership skills and personality), it'd be much easier to just grab a couple of you, scrap every current member of Ultima and create members needed to fulfill the requirements of their storyline.

Eh, the reason I didn't really pick any theme for my leader was because I prefer one theme for all leaders (and maybe a total of five different boss themes). It's my general belief that a having theme creates a certain mood of suspense right when that first note hits (think about hearing the Reborn gym leader theme the first time on how it stays true to that). The other reason is that there's a good chance you're going to have 15-20 other battle themes along with 80-200 atmosphere and scenario themes. I believe the use of repetition in sound is a useful and very effective tool, but to each his own. Though if you are going to do individual battle themes, I suppose XD's wild battle theme would work. Again, my focus is on story because once this project starts, that portion cannot be changed. And...am I the only one who sees this fairy idea as very unfitting. Fairies are generally viewed as mystical and magical and not really known for strength and power. I mean yes, they are quite powerful, but when you look at the overall picture, they are some of the weakest legendaries. The little info I have on Team Ultima counteracts this concept. They are machine and highly tech-based and quite power hungry. Just kind of feels weird they'd target the cutesy legendaries instead of something...I don't know...can create a Hurricane with the flap of its wings, Revive Pokemon from the dead, or rip a portal to another dimension.

Eh, humor is a difficult subject. You usually grinds down to, you either have the talent to do it or don't. I have done comedic characters, but they always felt natural. But if you want to take a side, I'd go for something along the lines of a bit of a moron and having him get into awkward situations (probably some due to his gender). And as for the whole starter thing, can we put it on hold? It's a headache of decision making that I'd rather do after the story is pretty much drafted out. But my advice is to not pick every single three stage mon, but provide options that would be very weak at the start until very late and very strong at the start but weakens out very quickly instead of trying to find the most balanced mons. Pancham for example would make a good fighting starter. Smoochum for ice, and Noibat would be Dragon (because every dragon outside of Noibat is OP as hell in the early game). But again, another time.

ಠ_ಠ Everything you break I have to fix later. Anyways, I do have an idea for Uxie involving Mr. Hermit (we haven't heard that name in like 20 pages). Considering he has a memory problem and uxie is a memory entity it could work along well. I probably could tie in some legendaries with some leaders and how they became the "guardians" of that legendary. Here's an idea that could be used for some (and give Ultima and incentive for...evily evilness) Also, I volunteer one of those bug gym leader's sisters becoming a rival (probably the tsunedre). Don't worry about details. I have many ways of achieving this kind of rivalry. Many, many ways.

._. I literally only spent five minutes to think of that. You guys liked the whole moon stuff early on so I went with that. Things can easily be changed. As for the confusion, maybe I can clear it: And Lore, yes it is. I could probably go into some magical reasoning on why and how that'd work, but...not really feeling it. I thought it was a neat way to implement BN's name to have meaning instead of "LOL here's a random team name for a cult who is secretly part of the main villains who also have the same goals." Feel free to suggest or change any or all of it.

Alright let's get to work. I'm going to keep these in spoiler tabs due to them being heavy spoiler if they are accepted: Now for some team Ultima Advice
-
Okay, let me finish up my homework then I'll actually make a contribution to this. (Be prepared as there is an incoming text wall). I've finally gotten enough out of you guys to throw something from this haywire of ideas together. Hope you like it (when it appears).

You say those things and you don't even mention Ludicolo...or Cherrim. Sun or Rain is pretty much a good use for a grass team to make sure a fire type won't 100% sweep a grass gym. Since you want to use flowers, most of them benefit from the sun (usually speed). Bulkier Pokemon prefer the rain as it cancels out the fire weakness. If you try to work with both, the team will be much, much weaker.

Making teams is easy and takes little to no skill. Making unique teams and memorable ones is another story. I think I hit myself against the wall when making a defensive Heliolisk for Julia. I believe I had to change the moveset eight different times before it'd work like it's supposed to. I suggest you get very familiar with AI mechanics and debug mode because you are going to be spending a lot more time then you think working kinks out of the leaders. I can help with team designs, but I prefer giving leaders gimmicks then the strongest possible Pokemon they can have. Even with the hardcore mod, I didn't ever really pick what I knew was the strongest, but thought of curveballs to throw people off guard. But yeah if your ever stuck in a wall, just bother me and I probably can think of something. Story is supposedly something I could help on, but usually I like to let people do their own thing only giving small suggestions. I don't know how much you have done, but from what I've seen you've got a pretty good idea what to do. I wish there was more I could do, but I'm still trying to learn all this stuff which takes time. (I'll likely pick up the game when Version 1 is out...so I don't know too much about this game so far).

I actually can agree with this. I've done things to stress the heck out of me. Yeah, it's stressful when something like that comes up. Try to keep your mind off of that you won't get it done. That'll only ensure you won't get it done. I don't know if it'll work for you, but my stress is pretty much reduced to zero when I'm actually working on a project even if I'm time pressed. Sometimes I get a little too into and not even realizing I need to eat (which is often why I eat a very late lunch). Just find something to keep your mind distracted from that fear. It's really different for every person.

SS, I'm guessing you purposely made that symmetry for the town half and half (you can also tell the differences) it's quite a nice touch. Can't say much about the other city as it's what's to be expected out of a city. Not bad at all.

Nintendo is very protective of a lot of things. A lot of companies (especially bigger) are. The odds at this point in time are very slim to the point nobody would really notice. I just noticed you were using music outside of remixes which does bring concerns. There have been a few cases such as Pokemon MMO and the one innovative Pokemon game getting shut down so be prepared for it. The chances are very slim, but it can happen.

._. WHY CAN'T THEY PUT IT ON ESHOP ALREADY!!!! But yeah Xenoblade is a good game but ain't worth the price. I'll give you a list of mostly cheap but really good ones off the top of my head. -Super Mario Galaxy (1 and 2) - This duo is the same, but different at the same time. Mario Galaxy gave me a better impression story wise (and that final boss fight was kind of epic) while Galaxy 2 provided the greater challenge. I can't exactly recommend one over the other because they are the same, yet very different. -Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn (if you're a fire emblem fan...though I do recommend playing Path of Radiance if possible): This is probably my favorite fire emblem of the bunch but it is pricey. I don't recommend it unless your a fan (but it has some of my favorite maps and game designs). -Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword - some people may hate on it, but it's still a classic zelda game. It's not wind waker, but there's a lot to enjoy from the game. The motion controls are weird at first, but I enjoyed them after getting the hang of it. The boss rush is the best part of this game. -The Last Story - SEVERLY UNDERRATED. IMO, this is the true FFXIII. It's different from final fantasy and has some action based combat, but I love it nonetheless. It's short, but it does so many things right. If you're an rpg lover buy this game (you can get it for $30 new). I like the characters in this one more than Xenoblade Chronicles if you want to compare it to something (and Xenoblade Chronicles is my favorite wii game). -Kirby Return to Dreamland - This game redeemed the kirby franchise. We haven't had a game like this since Kirby 64. The Co-op feature is really nice and it's definitely got all the kirby elements to it. -Okami - I haven't gotten that far, but this game really is unique. If you like zelda games, you might want to consider picking this one up. It's pretty cheap iirc -Metroid Prime 3 (DO NOT PLAY OTHER M) - Fantastic shooting game like the other prime games (I haven't played much of it, but prime games are all fantastic). Punch-Out Wii - Really simple yet difficult and intense. I haven't touched much of this one either, but it is quite fun (and purchusable on the wii shop for $10,but I got it free ) Some lesser ones, but still good -Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess - I thought this one dragged on at some points and was a little on the easy side as I crushed some bosses without losing a heart. Still, there's a lot of charm to this one and some of those graphics look amazing. -Super Paper Mario - Unfortunately, this is where Paper Mario went downhill. As a Paper Mario game, it's nowhere near as good as the prequels. It's still kind of fun though and gives you super mario vibes. I had fun playing this one. -Kirby's Epic Yarn - I wish I could like this game more. It's not bad, but you can't die and levels are odd. Some are cool, but some are boring. Collectibles really aren't there like in Return to Dreamland. Some boss fights are kind of cool like the fire chicken, but some aren't anything special. -Animal Crossing City Folk - If you like animal crossing, buy this game. There's a lot of good things about this, but Wild World is a bit better and New Leaf pretty much stomps out the competition fixing everything wrong with the previous games.

I'd be more upset if you agreed with everything I say. Different people have different beliefs. My knowledge of the video game industry is limited to only the ones that I've played, but I've been writing and improving my writing for 8 years now. I just learned to have standards when putting resources into something. If Jacob recruits you into writing the overall story, I'm sure you'll do just as good of a job as I could (I can't really say as I don't know your writing and plotting skills). I generally have a bigger emphasis in fleshing out characters and forming a plot from that. I know that's not the only approach, but it's what works best for me. I will say that there is a decision whether you are just going to show the players POV (maybe with a couple of scenes when needed) or try to put in scenes to create a mood or thicken the plot. (I'm sure you pretty much know what you're doing though). I guess I'll give one last bit of advice before I take my leave. Setting up an outpost is fine, but how is someone not going to be suspicious of it (and don't use the Ampped Malamar for that reason). There's no right or wrong answer for this (literally, you could just put up a sign saying out of order). The other thing is that most players will only have one or two established teammates with a bunch of death fodder on their team at that point (and from what you've presented the leader would have six pretty strong ones). which would either make this section a complete pushover or really overwhelming making the leader very underwhelming. I can't make any suggestions about the comic relief rival joining them. Don't know anything about him. ------------------------- And Snow I have a warning to make sure you know what you are doing. Using any music in a game is considered copyright infringement. Nintendo and Pokemon don't care too much about this (especially remixes) but it's always good to make sure the creator wouldn't get upset with you using it without their permission even if you credit them (which you must). When you step outside of Pokemon games, the risk of "suing" is greater. By suing, I mean getting the game completely shut down. That's the reason why Ame got rid of the original orphanage music.

Heh, seems like we've both hit the wall on this idea. I can't make many more suggestions due to how little info has been given. Unfortunately, my advice has limits and a lot of what I've been giving I consider common knowledge in story telling. Some of it may be flawed due to this being not as familiar an environment and conditions as I'm used to. The world is the biggest wall that I've been trying to work around. Generally, I'd like to be presented a page or two of what kind of world you are thinking of and every important bit that needs to be shown in the plotline (if you're doing it right, it'd be a breeze to fulfill this requirement). It doesn't have to be perfect and should be subjected to change, but something is better than nothing. All I have for a world is that some evil, perhaps power hungry team wants to take it over and turn it into a very techy world. A lot of the ideas presented are cool and can be implemented into this world, but I NEED A WORLD TO WORK WITH. Once that's established, I could start giving suggestions to weave this all together. The other important section is to start working on the overall villain storyline. This is for everything that happens on screen and off. Obviously, there is a big emphasis on the villains. You will not be able to fully develop this all at once, but somebody has to be continuously work on it. The main priority is to get the core of this done. Everything presented would probably only fulfill 10-15% of a villain story if you really stretch it. The gym leader backstories and ideas to implement them into the main story are nice...but really won't do much for the game (please don't take this to heart anyone). That'd be the last thing to concern yourself with and likely would be pushed to filling in the holes and gaps along with filler content. ------------------------------------------------ I know this will sound harsh and likely someone will hit that report button on me, but I think it's another thing I've been letting slide for too long. Jacob, you are the leader of this project. Act like it. I mentioned something before about involvement, but I know we all get busy, but this is in more general terms. There are many things that needed addressing that you either skipped entirely or said little on it. The questionnaire I created is one such situation. Now that I think back on it, it was a stretch of power and more control on my half and more importantly, it added more info on characters which you may not have been looking for. Part of me thought there were only going to be one or two people creating the story (instead of 15) down to personalities and doing this would really hurt that team. Also, many of the ideas you really haven't said much on. You've provided suggestions to the ideas which is a good start, but feedback is critical because then the person can revise it to better fill what you would need out of it. I'd also advise to give more structure and order by addressing anything questionable as well as maybe recruiting or requesting people to work on certain tasks (you can even divide people into sections to work on different aspects of the story). I'm not saying this to be mean or obnixous. I'm saying these things because they're signs for failure. Game designing takes a lot of commitment and it is not easy at all. I've seen it enough times where people jump into this thinking it'll be a fun easy thing to do in their free time and eventually hit a point where they're so demotivated they ultimately end the project. As I mentioned a while back, I originally turned away from this project expecting it to end. It didn't to my surprise. Not only that, but it seems to have perked quite a bit of interest surprisingly. That's why I've given it a chance and got a little bit involved. You can continue the way you do if you feel it's right, but there will be a point I will stop being involved. If however, I start seeing more signs of commitment, I will further extend my involvement to whatever you need though my scripting and spriting skills are rather minimal. I felt like now was the best time to say this given how things are slowly coming together.

Never really cared for the Fern type character. I just don't recommend using a lot of rivals unless you know what you're doing. (Reborn uses three, but they go through cycles making only one rival appear at a time after the start). Nothing so far have given me the impression it'll be long enough to give the rivals the fair share of screen time. I'm 80% sure that the douche one is the one you guys are thinking for the betrayl. Don't. (I'm pretty sure half the reason Fern was put onto Meteor side was for all the classic Fern and Blake lines). If anything, I'd go for a parody of that considering it's what's expected from a Reborn styled game. Still don't understand the significance of the Radio Tower. Unless Radio has a monopoly in this world, it wouldn't effectively cancel all media (unless you want to do a Rocket type plan using radio waves to control Pokemon/people). I mean Radio can be the key to the control, but I'd like to see it expand that and shown in the game how they are able to get away with so much. You could do newspapers, tv channels, and even interviews. I'd try to make a whole city focused on delivering news and references leading up to the events throughout the journey. But before any of that goes through, work on Kyler's character. Fleshing out this character will make your life so much easier in fleshing out this idea since he is the one in charge of it.
-
There's no way you can make it far doing this. Just saying. Some of the fights are so difficult that it is unfortunately luck based whether you win or lose due to the AI making a faulty play. I mean it is possible, but you'd have to be a very well experienced vet. If anyone would know about this, it'd be this guy <-------------------- the true creator of the game
-
Not sure how Malamar would work their, but if you can make it work from a somewhat logical standpoint, that'll be a start for that arc. I've seen enough to say that it's an interesting idea, but there's still quite a bit missing before I could say okay to it. As for Tentacruel, it kind of sounds like a replica of the deoxys thing in Rejuvenation (I haven't gotten far in that game). There are many water types that could easily fill that position better. Sharpedo could be used to completely devour the ship with amped up fangs, Wailord being made into a giant ship made to destroy other ships, and a Water/Ice could completely freeze over the port. Maybe I will just show you my thinking on this instead of giving advice. So you are saying that the team wants to spy on this random rookie for what reason. If they did that for every trainer fighting the description, they wouldn't have enough members left to carry out the mission. They honestly have enough spy tools to keep track of everyone trainer that could be a potential threat given if the media control idea is fleshed out. They have no reason to send someone on a project for a rookie like the player would be. IMO, I'd go for a more subtle approach given that the last gym leader usually appears at the end of the villain ark. I don't think there'd be enough time to develop this unless you want to go on a wild goose chase after beating all the league members. Maybe make it something that had happened in the past or have him be the reason the villains were even able to start where they were/make the large progress. So all of the main villains hang out in a populated city which would give strong trainers easy access to fighting the elite four. From a logical standpoint, I don't see this making any sense. The villains main headquarters is one of the regions most popular areas. I actually like the trope that the E4 are located in an isolated, far off area as it makes a challenge to get there filtering only the strongest of the strong would even reach their doorstep. With this, anyone with badges could challenge them (aka you'd have to handle 2-3 times as many challengers). (you and I have similar minds) There are many different approaches to using a disease. It could be a disease in Darius's...(or whatever the name is. I'm horrible with names) family that everybody in his family dies from at some point. Maybe Darius never told uh...whatever the name your leader you created is which would lead him into questioning so much. As for a new character, it's not necessarily needed. Maybe your character could've been antiquated with another leader beforehand (or his father was) which would be the closest thing to family he has left. Honestly, we're at the point this is one big, huge, clustered mess with a nonsensical story. That's just how drafting starts out. If people think it's a bother or too spoilery, we could always put this somewhere else. We can't really set this up in a PM because there are too many people so the only option is Skype or another thread. Actually, that's the best idea I heard all day XD. I'm not sure when the Mega Ring would be available, but this would probably be the best way to implement it. I haven't read the character profile yet, but I'll get on it after a little bit. Edit: IMPORTANT NOTICE: I've been a little easy on it, but I will start reporting double posting starting now. If you need to add something, just edit your post.

(This is the part that gets difficult for me to give advice due to how little info I know about). I'm sure you're well informed about Freedom of the Press, but there are limitations to it even in America. In order for news like that not to leak out (as well as other information), a lot of failsafes would need to be created as well as an iron hand over the publishing industry. This is likely some task you'd want a single individual to flesh out and research on due to how vastly different this could be from real life. I don't know how technology or media works in Jacob's game world so it's a good idea to get that straightened out as well as the laws for media production. I mean you don't have to do thorough research but having some background knowledge will help make this section flow well. As for the Tentacruel, I'm not against anything. You just need to have a reason for including it and what exactly this Supreme machine does to the Pokemon (I'd also go for a catchier name, but that's just me). I'd start getting more into the mechanics, but make sure the programmer(s) and spriters will be capable of doing this before going too deep into it. Just a little bit of advice: give feedback on some of these ideas. I can help with hammering out these ideas, but I can't be you. It's your idea, so the more involved you are in the discussions the better. Your input is critical to what stays and what gets chucked in front of a train.
-
I'm not denying this idea at all, but it seems like Snow is being put into a lot of scenarios. I'd keep the option of being open to a different character (maybe one of the player's rivals...or maybe a new character entirely). Now here's my question: how did he pass away or did he pass away? I'd suggest something outside of killed by terrorists (I literally roll my eyes every time I see that one because of how much it's suggested). Then tell me why you chose that. Don't apologize. I like it when people defend themselves and/or take in my suggestions. It just shows they're listening. The sheer amount of posts doesn't even phase me. 50-100 is pretty much light reading from what I'm used to. (I also love long and really thought out suggestions). (and replying to the whole Snow concept) Not a bad idea, but how was BN able to achieve such control on the media? (That's an answer that'll start getting you on the right foot on building the terrorist group) As for the Tentcruel Supreme (...I'm just going to call them Amps from now on). That sounds like a waste of resources. Maybe think of something that could take control of an army of tentacruels if amplified.
-
There are a lot of things to do such as Pokedex completion, a mono/challenge run, the hardcore version (cough fan game expose cough), and there are plenty of fan games starting up so you can try out some of those newer projects. If you want to expand beyond Pokemon, I know a lot of people play league and PSO2 which is a good time killer.
-
That's a better response. Generally when I see short statements (especially from users I'm not well familiar with) I just naturally assume they are demanding something with little rationality behind it. Neutrality just means you don't do anything about the issue (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). I know practically nothing about these characters (like barely even enough to develop a subpar plot) so don't take it to heart what I say. Your character gives me the impression of being selfless. Maybe instead of being neutral, he'd help the villains in achieving some of their goals in exchange for the town residents or Pokemon not to be killed. Scorpio (or whoever) could leave out info to him making him not even realize what he's doing until it's too late (aka blind from the truth).
-
I'm just going to give you a little bit of advice: don't say what you don't know. Yes, you'll never meet Reborn's expectations, nor will the next fan game, or the next. There's this book I'm working on where one little quote sticks out: "You aren't your father, and you'll never be the hero he was." (Seriously, I really need to start writing it). Don't set your game to be like Reborn, but it's own game. You should have expectations for it and try your hardest to meet them. If that doesn't satisfy you, nothing will. As for your dream job, dream big, but aim small.
-
Eh, can't help it due to the writer in me. I probably won't do too many suggestions because you need to have a spine to work with me as I will shoot many of your ideas down. And I'm very blunt and to the point. That's just how I was trained.
-
(And the writer in me is screaming sue right now). Cliche really depends on what you're looking at. I don't think the raiding of a town is cliche (close, but not quite) so I won't touch up on that. The whole Palkia thing would lead into a sue incident (and why they hell would you offer Palkia to join. If anything, you'd be asking to join them...not the other way around). The way Pokemon (especially legendaries) should be distributed through a hierarchy. The better Pokemon go to the higher ups (due to their knowledge, power, and authority) and rookies would be lucky if they are kept and not killed. Rookies are disposable until they are proven to be reliable and trustworthy. (And no one starts above a grunt...unless you are a required tool for a plan). Neutrality is fine, but Titania was not neutral...ever. If anything, Titania was fully against Meteor. The reason she teamed up with them is to keep them away from Amaria and the Sapphire Bracelet. She even took off with the item to keep Amaria safe. And just some advice, declaring stuff like that would make me less likely to get you involved with the main plot (I'm being hypothetical because I said I'm not writing this storyline). Why would I want to do something when you're limiting the options I have when I have a boatload of other characters who I could use in so many different ways? When I do plot, I generally try to note which characters really stick out and fit certain scenarios. Some would be better being able to pop up a lot, while others would benefit better for being a one time thing.
