  1. just as a disclaimer, this is an early build of MKXP we're trying out and we still don't know what kind of issues this could create in the long term. if it ends up hella breaking shit there is a chance this may not fully happen, but as of now it's looking pretty promising. just don't take this as a guarantee quite yet.

    I think there's a difference between changing teams to account for a new generation of Pokemon being available vs teams changing based on a setting in game in the same release... Heck, a better example would be teams changing between versions without a new generation. I'm not above retcons, but when leaders change teams between modes I feel like that much more transparently becomes about the gameplay rather than a selection of the leaders' choice in Pokemon. And yes, characters already use more than 6 mons througout the game as is, that's true. But given that we're not necessarily lacking options to increase the difficulty of fights without changing species, doing so and losing one the most significant, consistent aspects of the experience across playthroughs would be a needless casualty.

     

    That said, I think you're also conflating issues with the gen 7 updates. While I'm sure it's not the case for everyone-- trainers needed to get gen 7 Pokemon. And the Aster and Eclipse fight, for instance, needed to be nerfed. Those things could have happened individually, but it was a necessity in both cases. Even now that fight is still a difficulty spike for average/new players. I hear you in your saying you miss that challenge though and-- great. We'll have you covered. Frankly us not using Redux seems like it should be a win for you since then you just get to pick and choose which flavor of bonus difficulty you want.

    it is limited to what we said, since we are basically just ripping specific things out of e19 and shoving them backwards into e18. we were limited in what could be properly tested without a full cycle.

    No plans for that, since it is stated that goal for restoration would be within the next couple years in-game time... I.e not within game's playable scope.

    However, there is one individual who was making a mod and afaik plans to continue it after e19 so you can do just that

    We've chosen not to implement this because of the level cap-- it could be detrimental for some players especially in the early game where the cap is a bit tight.

    We've got a couple QoL improvements slated for the final release but it's on the basis of if we happen to have time to implement them after everything else is done.

    no plans for such. i wouldn't want normal trainers to have legends anyway, cheapens their rarity

    It's official. Ame really is trying to make me go off the deep end with this Gen VII and all those seeds. But honestly, Reborn's desert can't be worse than Gen VI. But alas we shall wait until then to see what you have in store for us. Hopefully before December this time.

     

    idk how you've been merging updates but this is (more or less) confined to three maps or so so it shouldn't be too bad for you

    This is a question that have been lingering in my head for quite some time ago...
    What about the Terrain Extender? Will it replace the Amplifield Rock? or viceversa?

     

    The Amplifiled Rock is a lot more thematic than Terrain Extender, and also more useful since it applies to Gravity + TR, so we'll be keeping it.

    The older development content should still be there at least for the people who want to read it but I don't think pushing out old things is so bad. Most people coming here will be looking to see the latest updates every time, and older development will be less and less relevant as time passes.

  10. just to be clear about what a 'branched story' implies, it is not anything terribly dramatic like what some of these comments imply. a lot of parts of the game have had branched stories, for instance with regards to who gets kidnapped at tanzan, etc. manage your expectations accordingly.

    thank you for the praise~ actually it's closer to 1/3rd that are done but the spriting % also factors in the need for shiny spriting and egg sprites after those.
