Darkrai is not obtainable?

Just to make sure, at the end of the quest, Darkrai is given to you as a gift, but after I checked my team and my PC, it seems like I don't have a Darkrai. Is this intentional since

the whole sequence itself was a dream/nightmare

or is it a bug? My version is 19.0.3 .

Yes if you use FEAR mons. If you beat him he'll say a few extra line and the game resets itself regardless.
