Bahzull Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Anyone else actually get kinda choked up after the whole Corey thing? I was not expecting that, even after all the death so far. Actually had to save and exit for a little while. Quote
Neutral Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Nothing of value was lost. In all seriousness I didn't really expect it to happen. However at the same time I didn't really feel any remorse for him because he was honestly a pretty dull and boring character to begin with. Quote
Bahzull Posted September 4, 2013 Author Posted September 4, 2013 It was more of the pokemon getting "Free Willy'd" I think. Then just the slap in the face that is blatant suicide in a pokemon game that topped it off. Quote
77Retro Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I feel like if you missed out on the whole reveal of his character in the forest you would feel nothing. After seeing a friend get the "hidden" scene I was kinda shocked how sudden everything was. Quote
thepokaymanz Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I didn't really like or care about his character anyway. I was just mad he didn't give a the gym badge I EARNED. Quote
Bahzull Posted September 4, 2013 Author Posted September 4, 2013 Yeah after the shock faster has run its course now im just pissy about not having my badge. Keeping my pokemon under leveled is a constant chore. They're approaching 35 fast. Quote
cmyk Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 eh i didnt feel too bad for him, as i feel like i didnt know him long/well enough to...even knowing his motive for allying himself w/ team meteor, that didnt feel like enough for some reason. :\ and yeah i'm mad that he didn't give me the badge either xD though someone said that it wouldn't have mattered (the badge) since he was dead/going to die. ieatjordans Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Corey shall remain peaceful in my team, Naming my Gengar after that guy, (just like shade) lol. i think his character is dull as well, but the events that happens in pokemon reborn makes everythig soo epic, like him dying because you dont see that often in a pokemon game. Didn't the little lore-test say that it was Shade's idea for Corey to commit suicide? Or was it Shade's idea for Heather to run away? As for naming your Gengar after him, Shade did sort of take the guy's body. Kind of alludes to the idea that Shade didn't just name his pokemon after a recently dead gym leader...maybe he has a means of turning spirits into pokemon. It's an interesting little twist that is ripe to be explored. Considering how dark some of the pokemon's backstories are, it's a shame it's not explore more in the actual game or anime and it's been forever since I read any of the manga... Quote

Reborn's history test cites two passages about Corey and Shade respectively. One states that Heather is Corey's daughter. The other states that Shade gave Luna the idea to run away, which is a plot point that is probably going to be explored in episode 10. Quote
Manes Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 What really shocked me is the implication that not only did he jump, but he may have actually shot himself. With a gun. And considering his affiliations... well, things are probably going to turn real ugly... (I'm up to right after the orphans get captured by Eyepatch Dude.) Quote

Jase Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I believe that Shade has revived Corey and he has now taken the form of a Gengar and he will come back to play one day. Seeing how Gengar part Poison type, it should make sense. Quote
dePaz Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I think Shade´s Gengar is Corey's Haunter that evolved when Shade found it. Quote
