Hey guys! New to both this site and teambuilding in general... so I really appreciate any help I get. I'd usually just slap some cool, strong looking pokemon in the team but strategy and team planning is huge in this game, and those two are very out of my comfort zone sadly 😞

This is my team so far:

AGGRON (Lvl 77, Sturdy, Rock Plate for now, will put aggronite if ever)

EV'S: 252 SPD, 252 HP, 6 ATK

SALAZZLE (Lvl 77, Oblivious, Black Sludge... idk what to put on this girl)

EV'S: 252 SPA, 252 SPE, 6 HP

NATURE: Timid (+spe, -atk)

Moves:

- Sludge Wave

- Nasty Plot

- Hidden Power (Grass... idk how much eggs I hatched just to get a hp salazzle like this)

Bench Boi's:

SCEPTILE (Lvl 78, Unburden, Focus Sash)

EV'S: 252 atk, 252 spe, 6 hp

Nature: Adamant (+atk, -spa)

Moves:

- Leaf Blade

- Acrobatics

- Drain Punch

- X-Scissor

SCOLIPEDE (Lvl 75, Speed Boost, Black Sludge)

You're team looks pretty good already, they're all good mons that cover each other well. You might need another tanky pokemon as you only have Aggron, all your other mons are trained in attack/sp.attack and speed so when Aggron goes down no-one else can take the big hits. Aggron also has no healing, like you said a wish user would work or put some leftovers on him.

Togekiss would be an awesome partner to Aggron, immune or ticked by ground and fighting attacks, wish user and bulky.

Even without changing your lineup some good items will make your team a lot stronger. Aggronite and leftovers are available soon after restoring the city, and life orb after getting rock climb which would suit Salazzle nicely. Choice scarf is unobtainable in ep18 although magma gives choice band and aqua gives specs, so Flygon will be slower than some of the pokemon you'll face against late game.

Moves are good too, if cosmic power + recover works on Starmie keep it, and some hp evs will go a long way with that build. Keep in mind Starmie has lots of coverage moves available even without ice beam like thunderbolt, flash cannon, dazzling gleam and icy wind. Flygon could learn thunder punch or superpower soon from tutors, but yeah u-turn would be ideal. Teaching Salazzle heat wave will make it a terror in doubles.

These are mostly smaller changes, honestly I think you can reach the end of ep18 as is as your team's really good.

Where are you at the story

Are you back to reborn then you should add a metagross

Aggron is decent but nothing impressive and he will help against the last gym so do not throw him out but metagross is a beast

About to go to the desert! Getting a beldum and leveling that thing up is going to be a nightmare, so I plan on just leveling up one of those big boi's after I finish the last gym available. Thanks for the suggestion!

You're so right on that togekiss addition that I'm mad at myself for not thinking about that. What do you think its nature and moveset should be? I was thinking I could focus on its sweet SpD, boost the HP for the wish, and add some points into speed if ever. I don't think I'll plan to dish damage with this baby, so I'm thinking its gonna be a full on annoying support with the combo of yawn and wish.

edit: Scrap the points in speed, I'll have togekiss have 0IV's in speed so it could definitely be last against most pokemon to do baton pass for a safe switch! I'd probs have to put the ev's of spd to def instead to make her take better hits from both physical and special though.

Do you have any suggestion on what item I should give flygon with for the time being then? I really thought the reward for aqua was the choice scarf, so since that's outta the way I'm stuck on what I should give him 😞

Starmie's set right now plowed through ciel's team for me (shut down 5 of her pokemon till it ran out of pp for both moves), so I'll keep it for now until I see the need for it to go full special sweeper. I'll add superpower on flygon for now and switch it to thunderpunch for the water gym leader later on. Noted too on that heat wave comment, its base power is higher than flamethrower and isn't single target for the expense of just 90% acc which I can definitely live with. Thanks for the very helpful input!

If you want to make Salazzle an absolute monster, grab something with Mist or Misty Terrain, another 'mon with Poisinium Z and a damage-dealing Poison move, and then ensure that Salazzle has Corrosion and Venoshock. You can set up Corrosive Mist terrain with Misty Terrain + Acid Downpour and that gives 'mons with Corrosion a 50% special attack boost, activates Venoshock and boosts Fire moves' power by 50%. If you want to pull this combo off with just 2 'mons, Quagsire gets Mist and Sludge Wave and has the bulk to live 2 turns properly EV'd against pretty much anything without grass coverage. Alternatively, just give Salazzle the Poisinium Z. (If you do this, DO NOT use Heat Wave on Salazzle, as that will combust the field. Use Flamethrower, and once it becomes available consider Fire Blast if you feel you need even more power).

Other than that, not much to say that FriarTruck didn't. The Knock Off tutor should be available by now which Scrafty could make use of instead of Crunch, as pretty much every major trainer at this point is using items. Scolipede can run Rock Slide over Protect once it becomes available if you want it to do a bit more work on its own, and Sceptile could use Substitute + Liechi Berry instead of Focus Sash.

I guess you could keep Flygon's item slot flexible for stuff like seeds, sitrus berries etc. where you change it depending on the fight. Otherwise try out life orb or assault vest for a bit more bulk.

Wow, this will let you bulldoze past practically anything! It's roughly like bringing Salazzle in with nasty plot already set up for it's stab attacks.

adding on to what others have said, I think D-dance and life orb for Flygon is the best option. D-dance, outrage/dragon claw, thunder punch, and eq. stone edge or iron tail are good options as well.

My suggestion though is on your Sceptile. I feel like the physical set isn't worth it. Once you get the ability to use rock climb, go get focus blast, and switch to a special set. Giga drain, dragon pulse, focus blast, and hp ground. Also, a personal favorite strategy with Sceptile, Unburden and Weakness policy. You can recover hp with Giga drain and do stupid amounts of damage at the same time.

other than that, ya got some good rotation in your team. Nicely done.

Sorry for the late reply! Had a break from reborn first after a gruesome fight with Titania. What you just suggested looks like something I can wreck anything with... and I like that HAHAHAHAHA I'll definitely either make a good ass quagsire as you said or let alolan-ninetales have mist instead and let salazzle do the acid downpour. It's funny how what you suggested on sceptile was the set I had on him during the titania fight as I searched sceptile movesets on the internet beforehand and that one caught my eye. Definitely will get knock off on scrafty now since the tutor should be there already. Thanks for the recommendations!

I put on a choice band on that baby and he destroyed both titania's excadrill and klefki. Will keep that on him for the time being till a scarf decides to show itself in EP19 hehe. Thanks for the recommendation anyways!

I find flygon too frail to set up a DD most of the time I've tried it, and if I do pull it off and flygon still has health, it faints because of the damage of both the life orb and the hail (due to my alolan nintales setting up aurora veil). I'll keep the choice band on him for now but thanks for the recommendation! Thunderpunch is definitely going on him for the amaria fight.

As for the physical sceptile, I really do feel like its been subpar at best. The liechi berry does boost its attack up, but it still doesn't have the killing power to kill anything except for ground/rock/water types and sometimes ice types depending on how frail they are against drain punch. I'll definitely switch to a special set and I'll try out that weakness policy sceptile if ever I can finally get that focus blast, but I do fear that sceptile is just to frail to take a supereffective hit and live to see the light of +2 on his atk and sp.atk. Thanks for the recommendations!
