Magus543
On the forums, there has been some speculation if Dynamax could be implemented in Rejuvenation, i seriously doubt that could happen, but in a way, aren't rift Pokemon technically dynamax? yeah i know they are based on Megas, but considering most of them becoming larger and we can see in the Direct that the opposing Dynamax Pokemon distort the area around them, just like rift Pokemon. kithas
Since I think we still haven't an idea of how Dynamax is included in SwSh's plot, or actually anything except it's appearance and rough dynamics, which are different from the Rifts (which cause more changes to the pokemon affected, like type and design changes) I'd say no, Rift and Dynamax are not the same. Well yeah they aren't exactly the same, but i do feel there are some thematic similarities. It's also kinda funny how a Gyrados was used to show it off, when we have a RIft Gyrados. Also that Giant Steelix in Reborn became funny.
kithas
They have thematic symilarities because they both come from Mega-evolution, which is a pretty straightforward "combat form", same as, say, Primal forms or Aegislash' Stance Change.
