Finding pokemon with good ivs

I'm trying to catch pokemon with good ivs but before wasting pokeballs does anyone know if there is a trick to catching pokemon with good potential

For wild pokemon, you're basically stuck with complete randomness. You gotta breed for good IVs

You can't check and the really only good way to check is to catch a bunch of Pokemon and pick the IVs you really want...which I don't do. Trust me, they don't matter that much. Just look at my team I'm usually doing fine with:

If there's a Pokemon you want to use, just use it and not worry about all the little things.
